On the bride’s side, a lot of thought goes into zeroing in on the right lehenga, or saree for the wedding day. Money is usually not a constraint as girls are ready to spend upwards of Rs 1 lakh. 
 
“It completely depends on people. Designer lehengas start at around Rs. 40,000 but brides are known to spend up to Rs 20 lakh on their wedding day outfit. Most mainstream fashion designers such as Anita Dongre, Ritu Kumar etc. are priced over Rs 1 lakh,” said Sanna Vohra, founder of Wedding Brigade.

It is important to note that brides spend on clothes, makeup and jewellery for more than one wedding event or function such as engagement, sangeet, cocktail, hen’s night, etc. as well as for their wedding trousseau.

This involves one that is draped and one that is worn on the head. For other wedding events, the "dupatta-less" look is in- either the dupatta is attached to the lehenga or the blouse is a long or crop top silhouette. This look has been seen in the collections of many designers such as Sabyasachi and Manish Malhotra. 
 
New age blouses: Switching up the blouse is a big trend. The crop top blouse, the lock jacket blouse and the bolero blouse are trending. 
 
Nawabi / Bajirao Mastani: The movie ‘Bajirao Mastani’ has been a big hit with brides and the 'Nawabi' look is a trend that's still very much in! Brides are looking at the sharara silhouette even for their wedding day and traditional 'mughal' style workmanship is popular. 
 
Monotone lehengas: Contrast is out and monotone lehengas are definitely the hot trend.

Try to balance the look out by choosing an outfit in soft pastel colours like mint green or baby blue. “There are some people who are aware of top fashion brands and their heritage and history, but most people that come aren’t. They are taken by surprise when they come to know about the value of the clothes. People mostly come with an image in mind. Like they would want to get the same type of a clothes that an actor / actress wore in a movie or an ad. Depending on their clientele, my team looks to guide people so that they are satisfied and have a great experience,” added she. 
 
 
 Pricing is figured out on the perceptions of the clients’ likes and dislikes. Fabric, colour and styles impact pricing. The demand among the clients is made by making them aware of the brand value. Reputation and brands do matter, agrees Shilpa. Once she bought a <keyword id="15578" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Halle-Berry">Halle Berry</keyword> worn gown worth Rs 4 lakhs, which hardly had any takers. 
 
So how does she source the clothes? “I have worked in the fashion industry long enough to have a vast network of contacts. I find out about their portfolio, and urge them to provide clothes that I like at reasonable discounts. I also follow brands from around the world, and source directly from them when required,” said she. 
 
Talking about her initial challenges, Shilpa said, clients would come to my store and really savour being in a beautiful environment. They were taken aback slightly when they realized that these über expensive clothes could be afforded on rent at much lower prices. I am trying to change the stereotype about rented clothes by informing the masses that even beautiful and fashionable clothes can be rented.”

	4. Mix and match, accessories, a lot of tryouts in jewelry, artisans’ products. Hand-looms category grew 3x compared to last year.
 “We can tell that consumers are starting to trust online websites for their wedding purchases and this trend has mainly started in 2015. We are seeing increase in buying of heavy lehengas and sarees online. With few websites starting to offer home trial etc. this trend will change further in coming years as it makes it very easy for the consumers to buy their outfits online without wasting lot of time,” said Anupam Tulsyan, founder of <keyword id="3140859" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Peachmode">Peachmode</keyword>. 

	Expectations from 2016 wedding season
 

	“We will continue to see a high degree of personalization, and also a willingness to experiment with traditions. Brides now prefer to wear gowns instead of a traditional saree to their receptions, depict their own love story on their mehendi and leave goody bags for guests in their hotel rooms to cure their hangovers. India has also started adopting a few western traditions, namely bachelor / bachelorette parties, the idea of bridesmaids, and grand wedding cakes!” said Sana.
 

	Technology has also taken over the wedding season &amp; so has buying habits. Lot of families &amp; planners alike are coming online to check latest trends in this wedding season.
 “For grooms we have seen a rise in Jodhpuri Sherwanis. These sherwanis are different from the traditional ones as most of them are handmade &amp; have light colors instead of the traditional red ones,” said Shailesh Jain, founder of <keyword id="3247750" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="mirraw">Mirraw</keyword>.com. 

	On the jewellery side, matte finish jewellery has seen a rise in demand. Necklaces which are heavy on gem stones are still a constant favorites amongst wedding shoppers.

	It continues to be significant with the wedding industry growing 25-30% YoY. It adds over 3 lac jobs a year (during season)
