<p>Apple sent out invitations Wednesday for its expected new Mac announcement taking place October 27 at its campus in Cupertino, California.</p><p>There have been numerous reports about what to expect from Apple this month, so here's the rundown:</p><h2>New MacBook Pro</h2><p>The new MacBook Pro will likely be the star of the show.</p><p>According to the latest rumors, the MacBook Pro will be completely redesigned to look more like the Retina MacBook that launched last year. The key feature will be a touchscreen at the top of the keyboard that replaces the function keys and can change depending on the app you're using. It'll also have a fingerprint sensor for unlocking the device, just like you do with the iPhone, <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2016-08-29/apple-said-to-prepare-ipad-upgrades-and-refreshed-mac-lineup">according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman</a>.</p><p>Finally, the MacBook Pro might ditch standard USB ports in favor of USB-C, the new, more capable USB port that's becoming the standard across the tech industry.</p><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"><p class="source"><span>Martin Hajek</span></p><p class="caption">A concept of what the next MacBook Pro could look like by 3D artist Martin Hajek.</p></div><p></p></div></div></p><h2>New MacBook Air</h2><p>The MacBook Air may also get a slight refresh with USB-C ports and faster internal components. Many expected Apple to kill the MacBook Air line in favor of the Retina MacBook, but it looks like the Air is here to stay for at least a few more years.</p><h2>New iMacs</h2><p>iMacs are expected to get a spec bump, but it's unclear if there will be a redesign. Apple introduced the Retina iMac with a 5K screen two years ago, and improved the color representation on the screen in an update last year.</p><h2>AirPods</h2><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"><p class="source"><span>Hollis Johnson/Business Insider</span></p></div><p></p></div></div></p><p>Apple said the AirPods, its new wireless Bluetooth earbuds, would go on sale in October. Well, we're running out of October, so expect Apple to announce that the AirPods are officially on sale the day of the Mac event.</p><h2>iOS 10.1</h2><p>Last month, Apple promised an iOS update that'll unlock the new Portrait mode for the iPhone 7 Plus' dual-camera system. iOS 10.1 is already available in beta for some early testers, so expect the final version to be announced at the event on October 27.</p><p>Portrait mode mimics the blurry "bokeh" effect from DSLR cameras, which means the figure in front remains in focus while the background is blurred. <p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"><p class="source"><span>Sarah Jacobs/Business Insider</span></p><p class="caption">The Samsung Galaxy Note 8.</p></div><p></p></div></div>You have your work cut out for you if you want to upgrade your smartphone this fall.</p><p>Between <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/apple-iphone-8-rumors-photos-renderings-reports-2017-7">Apple</a>, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/lg-v30-hands-on-first-impressions-specs-photos-2017-8">LG</a>, Samsung, and even startups like <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/review-the-essential-phone-is-a-superb-smartphone-2017-8">Essential</a>, you're going to have a bunch of great-looking, premium phones to choose from.</p><p>Samsung's latest is the Galaxy Note 8, which launches on September 15. Like its predecessors, the Note 8 packs in the best of what Samsung has to offer: the biggest screen, the most power, and advanced features like split-screen multitasking and stylus input. And unlike last year's model, Samsung promises the Note 8 has gone through rigorous safety checks to ensure the battery won't overheat. (I didn't have any problems on that front over the last week, for what it's worth.)</p><p>The Note 8 comes at a heavy price though. It starts at $930, and can go for as much as $960 depending on your carrier.</p><p>You have to pay a premium if you want the best of the best these days.</p><h2>Hardware and design</h2><p>The Note 8 looks kind of like a stretched-out version of the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/samsung-galaxy-s8-review-2017-4">Galaxy S8 from earlier this year</a>. It has a slightly larger 6.3-inch curved display, a new dual-lens camera system, and more RAM. Think of it as a souped-up version of the phone Samsung delivered a few months ago.</p><p>It also follows the budding trend of cramming as much screen on the front of the phone as possible, so you get more display on a device that has the almost the same physical footprint you're used to in older phones. Samsung calls this its Infinity Display, and it's quickly becoming the standard for high-end phones.</p><p>All that screen gives the Note 8 a stunning look. Samsung has always made the best smartphone displays, and this one is no exception. My only complaint is that the aspect ratio makes the screen feel a bit too "tall" to me, making it awkward to use one-handed or fit in my pocket. But videos also look incredible on this thing.</p><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"><p class="source"><span>Sarah Jacobs/Business Insider</span></p><p class="caption">The Note 8 has wireless charging.</p></div><p></p></div></div>Big screens also mean there's no room for a home button, which comes with its own set of challenges.</p><p>The Note 8 now has a digital home button that appears in a bar at the bottom of your screen. The fingerprint sensor has been moved to the back of the phone, and you also have the option to unlock the device with an iris scanner, facial recognition with the front-facing camera, or a passcode. The iris scanner works pretty well, but you have to be staring at your phone at the proper distance for it to work. It's fast, but not entirely reliable. Iris scanning doesn't always work if you're wearing glasses or holding the phone at an angle, for example. Facial recognition works fine, but as Samsung admits, it's not as secure as the iris or fingerprint scanner. In fact, someone was recently able to <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/samsung-galaxy-note-8-facial-recognition-tricked-with-a-photo-2017-9">trick it with a photograph</a>. Samsung shouldn't even allow a method this insecure as an option to unlock your phone.</p><p>Besides the size, the biggest thing that sets the Note 8 apart is the camera system. Like the iPhone 7 Plus, the Note 8 has two cameras on the back for enhanced photos. That means you can use a 2x optical zoom, which won't distort your photos as much as the digital zoom on single-lens cameras. It also lets you take portrait-style photos where the subject is in focus and the background is blurred. It's similar to the effect you see on high-end DSLR cameras and the iPhone 7 Plus.</p><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"><p class="source"><span>Sarah Jacobs/Business Insider</span></p><p class="caption">The dual-lens camera lets you take portrait photos and use 2x optical zoom. (The glass back also smudges like crazy.)</p></div><p></p></div></div>But unlike the iPhone 7 Plus, the Note 8 lets you adjust the blur effect before or after you take a shot with a handy slider tool at the bottom of the screen. In my tests, portrait shooting wasn't perfect though. I found that conditions have to be just right to get a perfect photo, since a lot of the work is done with software, not just the dual camera lenses. If your subject isn't the right distance from the camera and the background, the blur effect can bleed into the person you're taking a picture of. (I've had similar issues shooting portraits on the iPhone 7 Plus, for what it's worth.)</p><p>Other than that, the Note 8 has the same features found in the last few Samsung phones, including wireless charging, water resistance, and expandable memory. And if you pre-order the phone before the September 15 launch, Samsung will throw in a free wireless charging pad and 128GB memory card. That's a really good deal.</p><h2>Software </h2><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"><p class="source"><span>Sarah Jacobs/Business Insider</span></p><p class="caption">You can run two apps at once in split-screen mode.</p></div><p></p></div></div></p><p>When it comes to the software side of the Galaxy Note 8, it's the same story we've seen for the last few generations of Samsung phones. The company has perfected design and performance, but still struggles to pack in innovative software that rivals what you find from Apple and Google. It's not terrible, and it's definitely not a deal breaker. It's just a step behind the rest.</p><p>The latest example is Bixby, Samsung's new digital assistant that launched earlier this summer. Bixby is so ingrained in the Note 8 that it even has a dedicated launch button on the left side of the phone. But <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/samsung-bixby-galaxy-s8-2017-7">as I've written before</a>, Bixby feels half baked compared to Google Assistant and Siri. There were many times it didn't understand what I said, and many of my queries just dumped me into a Google search instead of bringing me the answer I wanted. Even Siri is better than that.</p><p>Bixby should get better over time as more people use it and Samsung teaches it to do more. But for now, you're better off using Google Assistant, which also ships with the Note 8.</p><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"><p class="source"><span>Sarah Jacobs/Business Insider</span></p><p class="caption">Samsung's Bixby assistant needs a lot of work.</p></div><p></p></div></div></p><p>I also recommend getting the unlocked model of the Note 8 if you can. It runs a cleaner version of the operating system without all the apps from carriers that can clunk things up. Plus, you're likely to get software updates faster than you would if you bought the phone through your carrier.</p><p>Like I said, none of this is a deal breaker. The operating system runs just fine for the most part, and you can still use all the great Google apps and services, just like you can on any other Android phone. Samsung has a lineup of three excellent phones - the S8, S8+, and Note 8. And within a couple months, you can expect similar offerings from Apple, LG, and Google. If you can wait a few weeks to make your decision, then hold off. The thoughts expressed are those of the author.</li></ul><p><a href="http://www.jigsawprods.com/alex-gibney/">Alex Gibney</a>, the Oscar, Emmy, Peabody, and Grammy award-winning documentarian, has directed dozens of acclaimed films.</p><p>Among the many disparate topics he has tackled on-screen include torture and the "war on terror" ("Taxi to the Dark Side"), the cruel scapegoating of the Chicago Cubs fan Steve Bartman ("Catching Hell"), Scientology ("Going Clear"), corporate corruption ("Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room"), and last year's hugely popular HBO film about the disgraced Theranos founder, Elizabeth Holmes ("The Inventor: Out for Blood in Silicon Valley").</p><p>Gibney's latest film, "Totally Under Control" (codirected with Suzanne Hillinger and Ophelia Harutyunyan), documents the slow-moving disaster of the Trump administration's early response to the coronavirus pandemic.</p><p>From the early warnings that Trump dismissed, to the shockingly ineffective leadership at Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, to Jared Kushner's tragiccomic group of 20-somethings emailing business connections to secure personal protective equipment, "Totally Under Control" uses archival footage as well as new interviews with whistleblowers, medical experts, and doctors on the front lines of the pandemic to contextualize a great many of the reasons the US has had the worst COVID-19 response of any developed nation.</p><p>"<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ut4QjbruS50">Totally Under Control</a>" is available on video-on-demand this week, and it premieres on Hulu on October 20. The Business Insider columnist <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/author/anthony-l-fisher">Anthony L. Fisher</a> spoke with Gibney via Zoom this week.</p><p>This interview has been edited for space, style, and clarity.</p><p><strong>This is the first widely released documentary that's been shot entirely during the <keyword id="8764262" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="covid">COVID</keyword> era. What was the process like?</strong></p><p>It was tough to figure out how to shoot during COVID, both in how to get images that look good and represented the moment and also how to do so in a way that was safe, both for the camera folks but also more importantly for the subjects.</p><p>The film had two approaches. One was the COVID cam — which was kind of invented by [cinematographer] <a href="https://www.imdb.com/name/nm1304251/">Ben Bloodwell</a>. It's sort of a tray with a handle, it's got a laptop, it's got a DSLR [camera] and a microphone. And we would send it to wherever the interview subject was and an assistant cameraperson would pick it up, put it on that person's porch, connect the internet, and then leave. They'd wait in a nearby car in case there was a problem.</p><p>Then the person would go outside and pick up the COVID cam. It was already on, so Ben could see the person, talk to them, and actually remotely operate the camera and get a nice-looking image.</p><p>The other option we had was the Airbnb option. Ben or another cinematographer would go to an Airbnb, kind of scrub it down, and then by themselves set up the lights, set up the sound, set up the chair, and put this big screen in front with shower curtains and everything — a virus barrier. The lens poked out, and on top of the lens was a kind of a teleprompter, and an image of whoever was conducting the interview would be projected. So the interview subjects would look directly into the barrel of the lens, and that had a kind of Zoom aesthetic, but nevertheless was better-lit and had a more cinematic quality.</p><div type="image" title="trump fl rally" height="804" width="1609" msid="78662071" hostid="261"></div><h2>Unspooling the disaster of Trump's early COVID response</h2><p><strong>One moment in "Totally Under Control" that leaped out at me was Trump saying on February 28, "</strong><a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2020-election/democratic-candidates-hit-trump-s-coronavirus-hoax-claim-n1145911"><strong>we have lost nobody to coronavirus</strong></a><strong>." It was at a huge rally and drew big cheers. It's chilling, given what we now know was happening at the time he said that. And it's amazing to realize that's not even eight months ago.</strong></p><p>And the very next day, <a href="https://www.cdc.gov/media/releases/2020/s0229-COVID-19-first-death.html">we did lose somebody</a>.</p><p><strong>You've gone through all this archival footage and you've contextualized the tick-tock of what the administration knew and when. How does it hit you now, emotionally, after everything that's happened since?</strong></p><p>We intentionally focused on the early days because that was when a different kind of plan really could have made a difference. What's chilling to me now about those remarks, particularly in light of the interview <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/listen-trump-tells-woodward-february-covid-19-deadlier-than-flu-2020-9">Trump gave to Bob Woodward on February 7</a>, is that Trump knew very well that he was lying to us all. And worse than lying to us, he knew those very lies were permitting the virus to spread uncontrollably.</p><p>How deeply cynical and cruel is to intentionally slow-walk testing, and also lie about the threat of a disease that you know is mortally dangerous, which will permit the disease to spread more rapidly and put more people in danger. That's really the dark part of this story.</p><p><strong>And not too long after that, on March 6, Trump explicitly says on camera that he doesn't want the stranded cruise passengers on the Diamond Princess to be tested because that will make the number of US positive tests go up. We all watched this happen in real time, but Trump's cynicism is astounding.</strong></p><p>We use another quote later on in the film where Trump said, "Slow testing down, please." He's literally saying he doesn't want to test because he knows the more you test, the more the numbers rise, which looks bad for him. That's like an oncologist seeing a polyp and saying: "You know what, we'll just let that pass and hope that maybe disappears. I'm going to go on a vacation now and I'll see you back in a couple of months." How irresponsible that is, it's really jaw-dropping in its cynicism.</p><p><strong>One thing I think we're going to look back on is how quickly the pandemic begins right after the impeachment trial ends. And in this period of chaos and unaccountability in government, Trump fires a bunch of inspectors general.</strong></p><p>He had been doing that for some time. I mean, that's his M.O. It really is all about him. And that's why the tension in making this film was we needed to hold him to account, because he is the commander-in-chief. He's the president of the United States. But we were very cautious about not making the film too Trump-centric because there is, after all, a government to consider. And also the people whose job it was to push back against the president, in this case did not. And then juxtaposed to what Trump was doing, were these poignant stories of the public officials, public-health officials, who were trying desperately to make a difference and to keep people safe. And they're being consistently undermined by Trump himself.</p><p>So it was a real challenge, because that's the great and terrible skill that Trump has. He keeps us all so distracted by his outrageousness, which is intended to draw attention to him, so that we don't pay attention to things like the sacking of the inspectors general, to the way testing was slow-walked, all the policy issues and all the mechanisms of government that one after another he's filling with sand and glue.</p><div type="image" title="Jared Kushner" height="1455" width="2000" msid="78662074" hostid="261"></div><h2><strong>'This administration works outside of the government'</strong></h2><p><strong>One argument I've been hearing a lot from Trump-sympathetic people is that "Of course, there's political appointees running the Centers for Disease Control and the Food and Drug Administration, that's how it goes." But it seems like this particular CDC leadership is much more beholden politically to the president than would seem normal.</strong></p><p>Let's not be too cynical. When you're a political appointee and you are appointed to be head of the CDC, for example, in a way you're serving two masters. You're serving the president because you've been appointed by the president, but you're also serving the institution and the ethics and goals of that institution. It's your job to serve both, which is how good governance works. In the Trump administration, there was only one job, which was to serve Trump and to say what he wanted to hear, to do what he wanted to do, and let the institution be damned.</p><p>What you see with Trump is the corrupting of institutions that it turns out are very valuable. People can talk all they want about the "deep state." Another way of talking about the deep state is to say that institutions have values. And the CDC was known as the gold standard in terms of epidemiology and understanding disease and the production of vaccines. All of that was hugely influential throughout the world, and that has been completely undone by Donald Trump. He's corrupted it.</p><p><strong>Max Kennedy, one of Jared Kushner's volunteers — </strong><a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/trumps-devotion-cronyism-getting-people-killed-coronavirus-pandemic-covid-2020-5"><strong>the 20-somethings he put in charge of securing the nation's PPE supply</strong></a><strong> — says in the film, "This administration works outside of the government." That feels in line with what you're saying. That particular Trump political appointees have hollowed out the government--</strong></p><p>They have.</p><p><strong>And that's how you end up with images of volunteers using Gmail accounts and private laptops in a dark room, begging companies for PPE.</strong></p><p>It's feckless. These were kids — in their early 20s. They so desperately wanted to help that they're volunteering their time to work 80 hours a week in the middle of a pandemic to try to help get valuable PPE — N95 masks, gowns, and gloves — to doctors and nurses.</p><p>They go in and discover that, actually, they are the plan and that there's no guidance for them except, "Do a Google search on who might have PPE in China." Worse, they're not even permitted to buy materials themselves or to affect the way the government might buy those materials. They're there just to cut deals, so that then a certain small group of selected companies can go in, get that stuff, and then profiteer off it.</p><p>Not only were [the companies] subsidized by the government, but they were permitted to sell these materials to whoever they wanted, sometimes even foreign countries, and make whatever profit they thought was meaningful to them. That meant the states, as we show in the film, were going on eBay desperately trying to keep up with the soaring prices of stuff that was desperately needed for nurses and doctors. The cynicism of that, the idea of bringing a business approach to government, is really shocking.</p><p><strong>Can you tell me a little more about who these volunteers were and how they were recruited?</strong></p><p>There was just a word sent out by some of Kushner's people, "Wouldn't it be great to have some volunteers," and there was an operation out of FEMA where Kushner said he was going to run his PPE task force. So it was a "through the grapevine" kind of thing.</p><p>Max Kennedy Jr. told us his former employer approached him and said, "I hear that they're looking for volunteers to work really long hours to try to help Jared Kushner's new team find PPE." It was very ad hoc. There was no routine to it. There was no experience needed. Just show up.</p><p>But the most shocking thing for the volunteers was that they expected they were going to be doing data entry, running for coffee, being support troops for a robust organization that was already running on six cylinders. But to their chagrin and horror, they discovered that they were, in fact, the task force.</p><p><strong>Did Max Kennedy violate his nondisclosure agreement by speaking with you?</strong></p><p>He did. But he did so with good legal advice. The NDA was probably not valid, and they weren't being given any classified information. The NDA was purely an afterthought to try to contain the damage that would come from exposing the truth of what was actually happening.</p><p>I was certainly shocked and surprised with Max Kennedy's testimony, but what was also surprising to me was stumbling on the "<a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2020/03/19/us/politics/trump-coronavirus-outbreak.html">Crimson Contagion</a>" story.</p><p>In October 2019, the Trump administration published its own report on how to handle a pandemic that arrived in this country from China. It had all the lessons learned about what they did right and wrong in that exercise, and how that would enable them to do better in the future. They had a very detailed playbook on how to handle this properly. And then when the pandemic came, they left that laminated playbook on the shelf. They never opened it. That was a shocker.</p><h2>The damage wrought by the well-meaning lies of the 'experts'</h2><p><strong>Early in the pandemic, when PPE was in desperately short supply, the CDC and the surgeon general both told the public, "Don't wear masks." They said they're not effective in preventing coronavirus. We now know they were lying, too, and it was a last-ditch effort to keep N95 masks available for first-responders and hospital workers and prevent bulk panic-buying.</strong></p><p><strong>But with the levels of trust in institutions already so low in this country, was the lie worth it?</strong></p><p>I'm not sure it was. That all could have been done a different way. There had to have been a way to give a kind of truthful reckoning and account to the American people, even while safeguarding that supply. But this also goes back to the beginning.</p><p><a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/rick-bright-60-minutes-us-coronavirus-response-chaotic-2020-5">Rick Bright</a>, who was running BARDA (Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority), which is focused and dedicated to pandemic response inside the government, said in early January that we've got to get it together and gear up on PPE right now. This is even before the first COVID test, just as a way of precaution, and nobody listened. It's like saying "What's the point of finishing the roof because it's sunny today?"</p><div type="image" title="trump covid tweet economy" height="1418" width="2837" msid="78662081" hostid="261"></div><p><strong>This film drops three weeks before the election, and it's covering events that are still very fresh. What do you want people to get out of this?</strong></p><p>Again, to emphasize, this film focuses on the early days. And the reason it focuses on the early days is because those were the days when all of this could have been prevented. I think it's very important that people understand that we don't have to be in the situation that we're in. And that's why we use the comparison with South Korea, because they never had to shut down their economy and country of 51 million people. They now have a total of less than 500 COVID deaths. Even if you multiply that by six, it's a tiny number compared to our titanic death toll.</p><p>The film is about competence. It's not a political film — it's not designed to be one party attacking another. It was designed to look at an administration, and how did this administration that prides itself on its business approach to governance handle this? That's the bottom line here: Did they do a good job or a bad job?</p><p>Unfortunately for this administration, the result looks more like a true-crime film than purely a film about competence, because the death toll was so high and the crimes of fraud and negligence are so extreme. I hope people will see that and render a judgment in early November on the complete incompetence of this administration in terms of dealing with public health, which affects all of us.</p><p><strong>I'm sure the film was totally wrapped up and sealed with a bow when Trump's positive COVID test became public two weeks ago. But what was your reaction to that <keyword id="6355005" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="news">news</keyword>? </strong></p><p>The film was finished, officially, the day before that announcement, and I was sleeping soundly as a result. But at 2 a.m. that Friday morning, I got a call from Tom Quinn, the head of [the film's distributor] <a href="https://watch.neonrated.com/">NEON</a>. He said Trump has tested positive for coronavirus. So I didn't sleep much more that morning. And the team huddled early in the day to reckon with what we were going to do. Were we going to open the film up? Were we going to delay its release?</p><p>Ultimately we decided the best way would be to both end the film, and then throw it forward. 'Totally Under Control' filmmaker Alex Gibney on Trump's hapless coronavirus response, Jared Kushner's ridiculous PPE strategy, and the breakdown of America's institutions

<p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"><p class="source"><span>"Shark Tank"/ABC</span></p><p class="caption">PolarPro founder and CEO Jeff Overall appears in Season 7 of "Shark Tank."</p></div><p></p></div></div></p><p>When 26-year-old <a href="https://www.polarprofilters.com">PolarPro</a> founder and CEO Jeff Overall walked into the pitch room in the latest episode of "Shark Tank" Season 7, he played up his heavy Southern California accent and surfer slang for the investors' amusement.</p><p>But not long into his pitch, it became clear that he was one of the more successful and astute entrepreneurs they've had on the show.</p><p>And after a bidding fight among the Sharks, Overall walked away with a $1 million deal with Mark Cuban and Robert Herjavec for a 20% stake in his high-end camera accessories company.</p><p>Overall founded PolarPro in 2011 as a student at the University of California, Santa Barbara. He was a member of the school's ski team and was frustrated by the low quality of the GoPro videos of his ski runs. After doing some research, he bought a DSLR polarized lens, which cuts glare from the sun, and taped it over his GoPro.</p><p>Satisfied with the difference and figuring other GoPro users would be, too, he bought some polarized film and started selling Ziploc bags of amateur lenses for $10 each, <a href="http://www.ocregister.com/articles/polarpro-691849-gopro-filters.html">he told the Orange County Register</a> this month. Eight months in, he decided to turn his hobby into a business and hired his best friend Austen Butler to help him.</p><p>Overall took out $2,000 of his student loan money and got to work building his business. Though GoPro was once interested in making a deal with him, he told the Register, they ended up producing their own line of filters. Overall found that offering a cheaper but high-quality alternative maintained a customer base for PolarPro. He decided to start producing new camera accessories primarily for the extreme sports crowd to stay ahead of the competition. Today, PolarPro has more than 30 products.</p><p>After the first year of business, the company brought in $8,000 in revenue, Overall said. In 2014, that number was $2.8 million. For 2015, that number is projected to hit $5.6 million.</p><p>Back in the Tank, for a segment that was filmed in June, the investors were very impressed with the numbers. Kevin O'Leary, however, was concerned that of the projected $5.6 million in revenue for 2015, only $300,000 is projected to be profit. Overall explained that it is only because so much money, over $1 million annually at this point, is being put into research and development to keep PolarPro inventive and ahead of the pack. O'Leary understood but decided the sector wasn't for him and pulled out of a deal.</p><p>After Overall explained that PolarPro is only in 1,200 independent retailers and that he expects to get up to $40 million to $50 million in revenue within the next few years after landing deals with major retailers like Best Buy and REI. He wanted $500,000 for 10% equity in order to get to that next stage.</p><p>A bidding war ensued:</p><ul><li><strong>Mark Cuban:</strong> Will give you the $500,000 for the 10%.</li><li><strong>Daymond John:</strong> Will give $500,000 for 15%, but will handle licensing and distribution deals. Interested in splitting deal with Cuban.</li><li><strong>Cuban:</strong> Wants to do deal alone.</li><li><strong>Lori Greiner:</strong> Will give $500,000 for 10%, and will be a valuable strategic partner for getting mass distribution.</li><li><strong>Robert Herjavec:</strong> You need more money. Will give $500,000 for 10%, if I split the deal with either Cuban or Greiner, for a total of $1 million for 20%.</li><li><strong>John:</strong> Will give $1 million of my own for $17.5%.</li><li><strong>Cuban:</strong> Prefer to do deal alone, but will do Herjavec's deal if necessary.</li></ul><p>After Cuban's concession, Overall decides to close the deal with Cuban and Herjavec, giving each 10% equity in exchange for $500,000 from each of them.</p><p>As the two investors walked up to Overall, he told them, "This is how we shake hands at PolarPro!" giving them fist bumps with his pinky and thumb outstretched. <p>There's a lot to unpack here, so let's break down the most important features before doing a deeper dive:</p>

<li><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">The Galaxy S5 runs the latest version of Android called Kit Kat, has a 5.1-inch screen (which is slightly larger than last year's 5-inch model), and comes in three colors: black, gold, and blue.</span></li>
<li><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">The phone is made of plastic, but has a rubbery, dimpled back cover. However, it feels like a much higher quality device in the hand than its predecessor.</span></li>
<li><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">There's a fingerprint sensor in the home button that you can use to unlock the phone without a passcode. Samsung also partnered with PayPal so you can use your fingerprint to make secure payments from your phone.</span></li>
<li><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">The rear camera flash has a built-in heart rate monitor. You place your finger on it for a few seconds and you can view your pulse through Samsung's fitness tracking app S Health, which comes preinstalled on the phone.</span></li>
<li><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">The camera shoots 16 megapixel photos and the camera app has an entire suite of shooting modes, too many to list here. One really cool feature: the camera can focus on an object in just 0.3 seconds, which will reduce the chances of blurry images when taking photos of moving objects. Samsung claims it's just as fast as a high-end DSLR camera.</span></li>
<li><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">It's water resistant, meaning you can submerge it for a few minutes without damaging anything.</span></li>
<li><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">The software got a nice overhaul too. Samsung redesigned its customized user interface for Android with a more modern, flatter design favored by Microsoft and Apple in their mobile devices.</span></li>
<li><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">The Galaxy S5 is equipped to pair with three new wearable devices Samsung announced this week, the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/samsung-galaxy-gear-2-2014-2">Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo smart watches</a> and <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/samsung-gear-fit-2014-2">the Gear Fit</a>, an attractive fitness tracker with a curved touchscreen that will compete with popular gadgets like the FitBit and Nike FuelBand.</span></li>

<p>Unlike last year's Galaxy S4, which seemed to cram in more features than anyone could use (like eye tracking and touchless gestures), Samsung took a more cautious approach with the Galaxy S5, focusing on features that users care about the most like battery life and camera quality.</p>
<p>It's probably a smart move too. <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/samsung-galaxy-s4-review-2013-4">Critics panned the Galaxy S4</a> for being too complex for most users, and it seems like Samsung heard them loud and clear. We spent a limited time with the Galaxy S5 this week prior to Samsung's official unveiling, and on first blush found the phone to be nice upgrade, although we're not crazy about the odd-looking dimpled back cover. </p>
<p>The only gimmicky-sounding feature here seems to be the heart rate monitor, which doesn't make much sense on a smartphone, especially since the Gear watches and Gear Fit can monitor your pulse without going through the effort of launching the app and placing your finger on a scanner.</p>
<p>The Galaxy S5 will launch in the U.S. in April, but pricing and precise availability will be up to the wireless carriers.</p>

Everything You Need To Know About Samsung's New Phone, The Galaxy S5

<p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div>We can review new devices when they're first launched, and their performance can generally be predicted from their specs. But specs only tell part of the story.</p><p>Samsung's latest flagship device, the Galaxy S6, has been out for about a month and a half, and it's one of the most highly rated phones out there. Most consider it to be the best Android phone in the world.</p><p>Here's what it's actually like to use from a real life owner's perspective.</p><p><strong>Design</strong></p><p>Samsung has refreshed its design philosophy from tacky fake chrome edges and plastic/faux-leather textures on previous Galaxy phones to a more refined, sophisticated glass and metal build for the Galaxy S6. I got the white version, which looks and feels premium and does a much better job at justifying its $650 price tag than the previous phones that felt like <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/chocolate-kinder-surprise-eggs-toys-2015-4">toys inside Kinder Eggs</a>.</p><p>But now that the S6 has sleek, smooth aluminum edges, it feels like it wants to slip out of my hands on a one-way trip to a hard floor. So how do you remedy that? With a cheap plastic $20 case that hides any indication that your S6 is made with premium materials, or that it's an S6 at all since most Galaxy phones look pretty similar from the front.</p><p><strong><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image"></div><p></p></div></div></strong><strong style="line-height: 1.5em;">Performance</strong></p><p>Samsung packed some pretty powerful hardware into the S6, and it feels like it for the most part. Performance is largely quick and smooth, animations rarely stutter, and I can switch between apps and scroll down contact lists, and websites pretty smoothly.</p><p>Occasionally, however, I'll wake my phone from sleep and it won't be able to unlock for about four to five seconds because of some sort of bottleneck with the hardware. That might not sound like much, but it's not something you'd expect from a brand new phone with some of the most powerful specs commercially available that's just stripped you of $650 or more.</p><p>It's also not very good for super fast smartphone typists as the S6 lags behind what you're typing, especially when auto-correcting or guessing what you're typing, which it does terribly anyway. I would suggest immediately downloading an alternative, like the Google Keyboard.</p><p>The fingerprint sensor is excellent and you no longer have any excuse to leave your phone without some sort of security measure because entering the passcode was too cumbersome. It registers my thumb prints quickly and accurately and I can get to my apps just as easily as swiping the lock screen to unlock it. Eventually, I'll be able to use the fingerprint sensor with Samsung Pay, Samsung's answer to Apple Pay that launches this summer.</p><p><strong>Samsung's Android</strong></p><p>Think of Android as a basic salad and Samsung as a chef. TouchWiz is the extra software Samsung uses to "skin" the basic version of Android made by Google. In years past, TouchWiz was a heavy hodgepodge of toppings added by a Samsung chef that ruined a perfectly good Android salad into an unrecognizable, cluttered mess.</p><p>Samsung adds its TouchWiz skin over Android to differentiate itself from other Android phones, but it was too cartoony and cluttered in the past. For the S6, it's dialed down its latest version of TouchWiz to look more sophisticated and less cluttered.</p><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image"></div><p></p></div></div>You'll still find silly traces like "Wi-Fi Connected to Network XYZ" banner in the notification shade, which is completely unnecessary and will drive notification perfectionists mad because you can't swipe it away like you do with other notifications. In typical TouchWiz fashion, there's no way to remove it, either.</p><p>Most Samsung apps can be disabled, but some keep running alongside Android to run the TouchWiz interface, which uses up the phone's resources and slows it down. Overall, it's a step in the right direction, but I still prefer Google's basic version of Android.</p><p><strong><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image"></div><p></p></div></div>Display</strong></p><p>The S6 has the sharpest display there is on a smartphone at the moment, and it looks gorgeous. It's pleasingly bright and one of the only TouchWiz features I like lets you change the color scheme for a natural, warmer, cooler, or colorful display.</p><p><strong>Battery</strong></p><p>This one isn't Samsung's fault.</p><p>I experienced the same questionable battery life that many Galaxy S6 owners were reporting. Since I was getting only slightly better battery life than with my old Nexus 5, I was about to put the S6 back in its box and ship it back to wherever it came from.</p><p>Before I did that, I tried one last thing. I switched off Google Now, Google's digital assistant, and my battery life skyrocketed to last me about 36 hours on a single charge with relatively decent usage, including music streaming. I charge it every night, but I usually have around 50% battery left before I go to bed.</p><p>Google Now used to periodically activate my GPS antenna to gather my location and it forced my phone to process the information for the Google Now updates. I somewhat miss Google Now, but not that much, and it's a problem I'd likely experience with any smartphone.</p><p><strong>Camera</strong></p><p>The S6 takes fantastic pictures. The camera app can be pulled up quickly enough with a double tap of the home button and I've rarely missed a moment I wanted to capture. It offers myriad options like panorama, slow or fast motion, selective focus, and pro mode (for more DSLR-style control over your shots) in a convenient menu when you swipe right.</p><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table center"><div><div class="image"></div><p></p></div></div></p><p>There's a "Virtual shot" mode that takes multiple pictures around a still object to create a cool surrounding effect, but it's mostly for novelty and has few uses because it's difficult to take stable surround shots without some sort of camera tripod.</p><p><strong>Conclusion</strong></p><p>I wish I didn't have to use a grippy plastic rubber case with the S6 because it mutes the newfound beauty of Galaxy smartphones, but I don't want to drop it and potentially shatter the screen or dent the metal edges, either.</p><p>Samsung could have kept using plastic for its phones and still had a premium design. Take my old Nexus 5, for example, it wasn't quite as "pretty" as the S6 since it was made of plastic, but it's still one of the best looking and best feeling phones I've ever owned. And it absorbed drops like a tank.</p><p>Overall, the Galaxy S6 is a great phone despite Samsung's insistence to keep its heavy TouchWiz layer that helps slows everything down. To be fair, it's been dialed back enough that it's not too offensive, and the slowdowns are quite rare. What it's like using the best Android phone in the world for a month

<p></p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">Earlier this year at the Sundance Film Festival, audiences were taken by zany comedy "<a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3824458/?ref_=ttfc_fc_tt">Tangerine,</a>" the latest film from "<a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0280257/?ref_=nm_knf_i2">Greg the Bunny</a>" co-creator <a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0048918/?ref_=tt_ov_dr">Sean Baker</a>.</span><p>Baker enjoys telling stories set in real settings, casting actors with little to no experience, and exploring stories you've likely never seen before on the big screen. That can range from a New York garment district wholesaler dealing with fatherhood ("<a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1000769/?ref_=nm_knf_i3">Price of Broadway</a>") to a porn actress befriending an elderly woman ("<a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2035630/?ref_=nm_knf_i1">Starlet</a>").</p><p>"Tangerine" continues that motif as Baker tells the story of a transgender prostitute named Sin-Dee (<a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm6702770/?ref_=ttfc_fc_cl_t1">Kitana Kiki Rodriguez</a>) who learns that her pimp is cheating on her and navigates through Los Angeles on Christmas Eve to confront him.</p><p></p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">But what has grabbed people's attention beyond Baker's unconventional tale is his decision to shoot the film only using the iPhone 5S.</span><p>"I didn't see any other way the film could be done," Baker told Business Insider in the Manhattan office of the film's distribution company, Magnolia Pictures, last week.</p><p>With a micro budget of only around $120,000 to make the film, Baker knew he had used up all his favors doing his previous films, and that if he wanted to make "Tangerine" he had to be creative.</p><p>"The film that turned me onto [shooting on an iPhone] was Spike Lee's '<a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1989593/?ref_=nv_sr_1">Red Hook Summer,</a>'" Baker said, referring to Lee's low budget 2012 drama. "Remember the kid shooting on his iPad? There's something about every time it cuts to his iPad footage I got more interested. I thought, Why isn't anyone doing a whole film like this yet?"</p><p>Around the same time Baker realized that the iPhone 5S was coming out, and included an upgraded camera lens from its predecessors.</p><p>Baker realized he could pull off shooting the movie with the phone (he used three total, but never at the same time).</p><p></p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div>Through camera tests with his co-cinematographer <a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0156547/?ref_=ttfc_fc_cr4">Radium Cheung</a>, Baker liked the high quality of the picture the 5S provided. But he was completely sold on shooting with the phone after coming across a new anamorphic lens adapter for smartphones created by <a href="http://www.moondoglabs.com/">Moondog Labs</a> and the app, <a href="https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/filmic-pro/id436577167?mt=8">FiLMiC Pro</a>.&#xa0;<p>With the lens adapter and the app, which made it possible for the phone to shoot at the level a pricey DSLR camera provides, Baker felt the phone would be "elevated to a cinematic level." (The FiLMiC Pro app costs $7.99 and the Moondog lens adapters range from $160-$175.)</p><p>And his financiers, who included <a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0243233/?ref_=tt_ov_wr">Mark</a> and <a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0243231/?ref_=tt_ov_wr">Jay Duplass</a> (creators of HBO's "<a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3061830/?ref_=nv_sr_2">Togetherness</a>"), agreed after Baker showed them his test footage.</p><p>What Baker didn't realize until principal photographer on "Tangerine" began in the February of 2013 was the level of sophisticated shots they could pull off with the phone. Baker used his talents as a former bike messenger in Manhattan to weave closely around his characters as they said their lines. Biking with one hand on the handle bar and another holding a smart-phone designed Steadicam called a "<a href="http://www.tiffen.com/steadicam_smoothee_home2.html">Smoothee</a>" ($149), the movie has these slick, eye-catching passing shots of Sin-Dee as she walks furiously throughout L.A.</p><p></p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">But perhaps the most dazzling of the cinematography in the film are the "crane" shots.</span><p>Throughout the film a handful of scenes begin high above buildings and then smoothly travel down to the faces of the characters. On traditional movie sets giant crane rigs that cost in the thousands of dollars are used to pull this off. Baker was able to do the same shots cheaper and in a more practical way.</p><p>"We purchased a large painter's pole and we would rig the phone to the end of it and do these up and down movements," Baker explains has he stands and imitates the movements, almost like he's painting the walls off the Magnolia meeting room with a long paint roller. "We would do like 10 shots, one after the other, and then look at all of them on the phone and decide if we had to do it again. It was basically like being back in your parent's yard, 12 years old, doing stuff with the VHS camera."</p><p>Baker admits if the film was done a few years later they probably would have used drones for some of those shots.</p><p>Though shooting with the phone was a success, Baker was weary about promoting how "Tangerine" was shot. When the film got into this year's Sundance Film Festival back in January, he did not allow any of the publicity material to state that it was shot with an iPhone.</p><p>"We didn't want people to have any preconceived notions about how it would look," he said. "I have to say, if I had a choice to see a movie between a film shot on 35mm and a film shot on an iPhone, I would pick the film shot on 35mm."</p><p></p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div>But following the premiere screening, Baker knew he had to reveal how they shot it. Overnight, he became the poster child of the future of low budget filmmaking.<p>"It's starting to get crazy," Baker admits. "I'm getting way too many Facebook messages and Twitter DMs from people asking how I made the movie. I just don't have the time to answer all of them. It's so easy - you get the phone, you get the app, you get the rig and you just do it."</p><p>Apple has even warmed to the film.</p><p>Baker said when they originally sent Apple the film treatment they got the typical response that the company didn't want to be involved. But after the Sundance premiere he began hearing from multiple departments in the company. Some praising what he did. Others, not so much.</p><p>"A few times they had been really nice to me, but a few times they rubbed me the wrong way," he said. "One time a department was like, "We're coming to your apartment and we're going to shoot the way you edit and shoot and we're going to spend two days with you.' I was like no, you're not."</p><p>But all is well, as Baker said Apple invited the film to take part in one of their Apple Store filmmaker chats recently, and they were all given new iPhones.</p><p>Baker is not planning to make another film on an iPhone, hoping that he will have a much larger budget to work with on his next one. But he believes audiences will be seeing more movies made on phones in the years to come.</p><p>"I went to Sundance thinking we would be one of many films shot on a phone," he said. "But a lot of people are starting to use it for features and shots. And a lot have been used for commercials already. The <keyword id="91748" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Indian-rupee">Indian Rupee</keyword> tumbled to a record-breaking low against the US dollar. However, September is telling a different story. The <keyword id="6355302" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Rupee">Rupee</keyword> is gaining ground strongly and has already recovered a lot of lost ground. Today, the Rupee stands at 63.13/dollar, compared to an all-time low of 68.56, just 10 days ago.<br />
<br /> It seems RBI reforms and stronger interest rates have done the job. The <keyword id="44734" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="60" keywordseo="Indian-Government">Indian government</keyword>, particularly the <keyword id="6355261" type="POSITION" weightage="80" keywordseo="Finance-minister">Finance Minister</keyword>, was not too perturbed by the toppling Rupee. And now we know why he wasn’t too hassled by the whole incident. Industry experts do feel that the Rupee is going to gain further and end its climb at Rs 57-58/dollar. But some optimists do believe it may gain a bit more.<br />

<strong>So what does this spell for the Indian <keyword id="34412" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="economy">economy</keyword>? </strong><br /> To start with, the pulse of the economy, the fuel prices, which had a sword up its neck, would not see an increase. This is, by far, the most important factor that everyone was fearful of. After all, most goods, either directly or indirectly, see a price rise, if the fuel prices go up. Moreover, importers are breathing a sigh of relief as the tumbling Rupee finally came to a halt and it is now strongly climbing back up, encouraging imports. Oversees <keyword id="6362476" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="60" keywordseo="investments">investments</keyword> might get a push as well.<br />

<strong>And what does this do for the average Indian?</strong><br />

<strong>Holidays again become cheaper. </strong>Although many had junked their plans of going abroad this season, with the rupee gradually coming back to its original valuation, many families can now look forward to meeting their relatives on foreign shores. Cheaper international tickets and hotel stays also become a reality.<br />

<strong>Imported food items become cheap again. </strong>Compared to 2 weeks ago, the food items brought from other countries will go back to their pre-rupee-tumble costs. Households can again invest in cereals, seasonal international fruits and commodities like olive oil.<br />

<strong>Imported cars don’t get costlier. </strong>Indians love their cars but if those are out of reach, they would have no choice but to look at other means. There might be no price rise or only a negligible price increase in the automobile segment, and we should see some serious buying this festive season.<br />

<strong>International education will be back on track. </strong>The biggest concern of parents whose children are studying abroad was that they would need to pay a lot more for overseas education. Thankfully, they would not feel the pinch much as the lowered rupee rate will be a relief for them and their children. Children looking to study abroad can again fill their forms and look at universities in far-off lands.<br />

<strong>Electronics will again be within reach. </strong>When the rupee tumbled, most gadgets and electronic devices saw a steep price rise. As much as 10% hike was seen on the price tags of digital goods such as DSLR cameras. With the gaining rupee, the prices will again stabilise and come back to normal. With the merry season approaching, many flock to the electronics store to buy the latest in technology. With the rupee coming down again, people can purchase their favourite brand of phone or television without burning a big hole in their pocket.

<b>Rupee Gaining Ground –  Time To Rejoice</b>

<p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image"><p class="source"><span>Antonio Villas-Boas/Tech Insider</span></p></div><p></p></div></div>Minutes after I booted up one of Apple's upcoming new iMacs at work, I had a crowd of colleagues huddled around my desk.</p><p>The new iMac, an updated version of the one that launched about a year ago, has a high-resolution "5K" display, which means it can play so-called ultra high definition video. Images are so crisp and clear that no photo or written description can do it justice. You want to reach out and touch it. It's the kind of thing you have to see in person to truly appreciate.</p><p>That probably explains why so many of my colleagues were drawn to my desk when I loaded up an ultra HD video of wildlife in Costa Rica on the iMac. You can't stop looking at this thing.</p><p>Apologies for the poor photo quality, but the look on everyone's faces says it all:</p><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image"><p class="source"><span>Caroline Moss/Tech Insider</span></p></div><p></p></div></div>This week, both iMac models are getting updates. And that super-sharp screen is coming to the smaller model for the first time.</p><p>Here's the rub:</p><p>The new 27-inch iMac has the same screen resolution as the model that launched last year. The only updates are a faster processor, other improved internal specs, and better color representation on the screen. (More on the color thing later.) From now on, all 27-inch iMacs will have a Retina display. It starts at $1,799.</p><p>The 21.5-inch iMac is getting a Retina display for the first time, but you'll still have the option to buy one at normal resolution. Because the screen is smaller, it has a 4K resolution, which is still insanely sharp and detailed. (4K is the new standard for ultra HD.) It also has a faster processor and better guts inside compared to last year's iMac. The 4K model of the 21.5-inch iMac starts at $1,499.</p><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image"><p class="source"><span>Apple</span></p><p class="caption">The 21.5-inch and 27-inch iMacs.</p></div><p></p></div></div>And finally, Apple is launching some new accessories to go with the iMac. It ships with a redesigned wireless keyboard and mouse with batteries you charge with a Lightning cable, the same cable iPhones use. There's also a new wireless, rechargeable trackpad (sold separately, $129) that has a pressure sensitive surface. All the new accessories will also work with any Mac running El Capitan, the latest operating system that many Mac users can download for free.</p><p>You can get all that stuff starting this week. (Apple Stores will have the Retina iMacs on display starting Wednesday so you can see the screen for yourself). I've been using the 27-inch version of the updated iMac and there's really nothing else like it. I couldn't find a comparable Windows machine that came even close to matching the design, screen resolution, and overall internal specs of the new iMac. It's in a class of its own.</p><h2>The Screen</h2><p>The real story here is the 21.5-inch Retina iMac. Over the years, Apple has slowly been adding high-resolution screens to all of its devices. The 21.5-inch iMac and MacBook Air were the only two holdouts until now. And $1,499 is a pretty good starting price for a computer with a built-in 4K screen.</p><p>Most computers, even those that have screens so sharp that you can't see pixels, don't have displays that can handle 4K video. It's the kind of thing you don't know you were missing out on until you try it. If you have a regular HD TV, think of the difference it made when you upgraded from standard definition. Going from regular HD to 4K is just like that. The new iMac screens can show color better too. Without getting too technical, the screen can interpret colors better and give you a closer representation of what the image looked like in real life. In geek speak: Apple extended the color gamut of the iMac screen. That means if you take photos with a DSLR or videos with a high-end camera, you'll see a lot more color and detail when you import the files to the new iMac.</p><p>But the average person probably won't notice. I had to look at side-by-side comparisons to really see what has changed. This feature is better for photo and video professionals, not necessarily regular users who just want to do some light editing of photos they took with their iPhone. Just know that you're getting a really nice screen and that Apple took the extra step to make sure it keeps getting better. Nothing wrong with that.</p><h2>Accessories</h2><p>The new wireless keyboard, mouse, and trackpad are great upgrades too. The mouse and keyboard come with the iMac out of the box, and Apple will sell them separately if you want to use them with an older model. All the accessories are rechargeable, and Apple says you can get up to 30 days out of a single charge. You can also quickly charge the mouse and get a full day out of it after plugging it in for just two minutes.</p><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image"><p class="source"><span>Antonio Villas-Boas/Tech Insider</span></p></div><p></p></div></div></p><p>Other than the rechargeable batteries and slight design tweaks, the keyboard and mouse are mostly the same as before. It's the wireless trackpad that got the biggest upgrade, and I prefer it over the mouse. It includes Force Touch, Apple's new feature that can tell how hard you click down and open up an extra layer of control when you click on something. For example, you can use Force Touch on a location in Apple Maps to bring up a window with more details.</p><p>It also has a nice, large surface, which gives you plenty of space to swipe around if you're using the larger iMac.</p><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image"><p class="source"><span>Antonio Villas-Boas/Tech Insider</span></p></div><p></p></div></div></p><p>But the trackpad's price can be a bit hard to swallow: $129 is a big ask for something that doesn't add much more functionality than your mouse already has. I imagine most people will be fine with the included wireless mouse.</p><h2>Conclusion</h2><p>I saw the original Retina iMac on Apple's campus about a year ago, but only got a few fleeting minutes with it in a room full of crowded journalists. That wasn't enough time to really appreciate how awesome its screen is. </p><p>After spending a few days with it hands on, I realized the screen does more than just make things look pretty. It makes the entire experience richer.
