 The exhibition match between Asia XI and World XI in March 2020 is likely to be the first match played in the stadium. The cricket stadium will not only be utilised for national and international cricket matches but will also constitute an indoor cricket academy. <a href="https://populous.com/project/motera-cricket-stadium">According to Populous, the company designing the stadium</a>, “A community academy will be housed under the podium in the stadium, with a dormitory for up to 40 athletes, allowing students from across India and the globe to attend. The academy also has access to six indoor practice pitches and three outdoor practice fields,” Three pitches and a way to soak rain during matches Apart from being the world’s largest, the stadium will consist of three different kinds of pitches — from bouncy, spin friendly, or a mix of both — to suit the need of fast bowlers and spinners. The 1,10,000-capacity stadium is the largest cricket stadium in the world in terms of capacity. The recent India-England Test matches were the first international cricket matches to be held after its reconstruction. "We are expecting a lot more crowd than what we saw in the Test matches. As of now, we have been able to sell over 40,000 tickets. We are expecting that the seats will be filled up for the first T20 International," said a <keyword id="53892" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Gujarat-Cricket-Association">Gujarat Cricket Association</keyword> official. Big crowd likely for 1st India-England T20

AHMEDABAD: The remaining three T20 International matches between India and England will be played here without spectators in the wake of rising <keyword id="8763838" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="covid-19">COVID-19</keyword> cases, Gujarat Cricket Association vice-president Dhanraj Nathwani said on Monday. "T20s on March 16, 18 and 20 will be played without an audience at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Trump struggled to pronounce the names of India's two most famous sports stars at a rally to kick off his visit there

The new Ahmedabad-based <keyword id="6354312" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="IPL" source="Orion">IPL</keyword> team, owned by CVC Capital, will be called <keyword id="6354766" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="gujarat" source="Orion">Gujarat</keyword> Titans, the franchise revealed on Wednesday, days ahead of the mega auction. The naming of the Ahmedabad franchise comes days after the Lucknow-based team announced its official name as Lucknow Super Giants. Both Ahmedabad and Lucknow are two new entrants to the IPL and were bought by CVC Capital Partners (Irelia Company Pte Ltd) and RPSG Group respectively, last October. "Debuting in the 15th season of the IPL, the Gujarat Titans will pay tribute to the state's rich cricketing legacy, which has seen it produce countless Indian international cricket legends over the years," the franchise said in a statement on Wednesday. "The franchise is inspired by the opportunity to represent and build on this deep cricketing heritage, as well as build on its future success on the pitch," it added. India all-rounder Hardik Pandya (Rs 15 crore) will lead the Ahmedabad team while they have also picked Rashid Khan (Rs 15 crore) and Shubman Gill (Rs 8 crore) via drafts ahead of the auction. It will be only the second IPL team for all three players, with Rashid coming over from Sunrisers Hyderabad, Gill from Kolkata Knight Riders, and Pandya from Mumbai Indians. This will also be the first time Pandya will lead an IPL franchise. Titans have also named their coaching staff comprising Ashish Nehra (head coach), Gary Kirsten (mentor and batting coach) and Vikram Solanki (director of cricket). The trio has worked together for Royal Challengers Bangalore previously. Titans' home stadium will be the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, the world's largest cricket stadium. "We want this group to achieve great things for Gujarat and its many passionate fans, which is why we have chosen the name Titans," Siddharth Patel, a partner at CVC, said. "As we approach the league's mega auction, we are confident that we will be able to put together the right combination of players going into the new season.
