Khargone, Apr 16 () A 60-year-old man from MadhyaPradesh who attended the religious gathering of TablighiJamaat at Nizamuddin in Delhi last month has tested positivefor coronavirus, officials said on Thursday.He is admitted to a hospital in Khargone and bookedfor negligent act, they said.His test report came out positive on Tuesday, districtnodal medical officer Dr Anupam Atre said.The man left Khargone on March 5. He then attended thereligious congregation in Delhi and returned on March 12, Kotwali police inspector Lalitsingh Dagur said.He concealed information about attending the religiousevent in the national capital, despite government instructionsto report to the authorities concerned, the official said.The man also violated the lockdown order imposed sincelast month, the official said.A case was registered against him on Tuesday eveningunder relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code and theDisaster Management Act, he added. Indore, Apr 28 () Nine more prisoners lodged at theCentral Jail in Madhya Pradesh's Indore city have testedpositive for coronavirus, an official said on Tuesday.With this, the total number of those who contractedthe infection in the jail in last 14 days has gone up to 19,including 17 prisoners and two jail guards, prisonsuperintendent Rakesh Kumar Bhangre said."Out of the 124 prisoners, who were already kept at atemporary jail located far from the Central Jail campus afterthey showed symptoms similar to coronavirus, nine have testedpositive for the disease," he said.Prior to this, eight prisoners and two jail guardstested positive for the infection in the last fortnight, theofficial said. Authorities suspect that the infection spread in thejail from a 58-year-old prisoner, who tested positive forCOVID-19 on April 14 after his arrest, the official said.The prisoner and his 25-year-old son allegedly hurledstones at a policeman in Chandan Nagar locality here on April7. The son was booked under the National Security Act (NSA)and sent to the Jabalpur central jail where he tested positivefor coronavirus on April 11, Bhangre said.On getting information about his son, the 58-year-oldprisoner was immediately admitted to a hospital in Indorewhere his test report came out positive for coronavirus onApril 14, he added.Nearly 2,050 prisoners are lodged in the Indorecentral jail as against its capacity of 1,230, another prisonofficial said."We are screening all the prisoners daily. Indore, Apr 21 () A police inspector died due tocoronavirus in Madhya Pradesh's Indore district on Tuesday, anofficial said.Last week also, a police officer died here aftersuffering from the disease.In the latest case, the inspector, who was posted at apolice station in Ujjain and also suffered from high bloodpressure, was initially treated at a hospital there for fourdays after he contracted the disease."After his health condition turned grim, he was rushedto the Indore-based private Aurobindo hospital 10 days ago.Despite all efforts by doctors, he could not be saved,"Ujjain's Additional Superintendent of Police Rupesh KumarDwivedi said.The patient had breathing problems and was onventilator support for 48 hours before he died, AurobindoHospital's Dr Vinod Bhandari said.The victim is survived by wife, who is a tehsildar(revenue officer) in neighbouring Dhar district, and twodaughters.He is suspected to have contracted the disease whilemanning the Ambar Colony in Ujjain which is a containmentzone, another official said.Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhanexpressed grief over the police officer's death."My humble tribute to Neelganga police stationincharge who laid down his life on the altar of duty fightingCOVID- 19. Indore, May 11 () A 20-day-old baby girl, one ofthe youngest COVID-19 patients in Madhya Pradesh, and 20 otherchildren below the age of two years have defeated the deadlyviral infection in the worst hit Indore district, officialssaid.Their mothers also made all efforts to shower theirlove and affection on the children to help them recover fromthe disease.Indore-based Choithram Hospital's senior pediatricianDr Rashmi Shad told that a 20-day-old girl, and two boys,aged two months and 18 months, have been discharged from theprivate medical facility's COVID-19 ward in last 15 days.After the treatment, these children tested negativetwice for the disease."The 20-day-old girl was admitted to the hospital onMay 1 and discharged on May 9. She contracted the infectionfrom a close relative. But, what is surprising is that hermother, who stood by her side round-the-clock, did not catchthe infection," she said.Besides, 18 other children below the age of two alsorecovered from COVID-19 and were discharged from Sri AurobindoInstitute of Medical Sciences here in last 45 days, theprivate hospital's chest disease department head Dr Ravi Dosisaid.Out of these 18 children, eight were below the age ofsix months and completely dependent on mother's feed, he said."It was an altogether different experience for me tosee such small children admitted in the COVID-19 ward. Theydefeated the disease with the help of medicines and theirstrong immunity," Dr Dosi said."I can't describe in words my happiness when I sawthese children going home from the hospital with theirdelighted mothers," he said. Dr Shad and Dr Dosi informed that the mothers woremasks and took all other precautions against the virus whilebreast-feeding their children in the hospitals.Indore's Chief Medical and Health Officer PraveenJadia said they have advised that these children along withtheir mothers stay in isolation at home for 14 days, likeother patients.A regular follow-up of their health condition is beingdone, he said.Indore has so far reported 1,935 COVID-19 cases and 90deaths. Indore, May 7 () In a bid to keep an eye onasymptomatic coronavirus patients, the city civic body hasimprovised its already existing mobile app 'Indore 311' andadded some new features to it which will also facilitatetreatment of such patients at their homes, an official said. An eight-member team of the Indian MedicalAssociation (IMA) engaged in the fight against COVID-19 hereis helping the city administration in fine-tuning the app, andthe new features have been added on its suggestions.Indore, which is one the worst hit by COVID-19 in thecountry, has so far reported a total of 1,681 cases of thedisease and 81 deaths, as per official figures."The app is already being used by lakhs of people inIndore since quite some time, but the new features added to itwill be available only to the asymptomatic COVID-19 patientswho have been advised by the health department to gettreatment while remaining home isolation," IMA team member DrSubodh Chaturvedi told .Such patients are being provided a pulse oximeterwhich would help in monitoring their oxygen level and pulserate at home, he said.Based on a pre-loaded questionnaire on the app, thepatient or his caregiver will have to daily uploadinformation, like if he has fever over 101 degree Fahrenheitand breathing problems. The patient will also have to answercertain other questions based on common symptoms of COVID-19,"Chaturvedi said.Doctors deputed at the IMA control room whileconstantly monitor the information provided by the patient andprovide consultation accordingly. If required, the rapidresponse teams will shift the patient to hospital, he said.A patient or his caregiver can also press the redbutton available on the app to seek medical help in case of anemergency, he said."If a patient does not follow the medical advice andsteps out 100 metres away from his house, an alarm would ringat the IMA control room and the patient would be trackedthrough GPS and sent back home," the official said. Indore's chief medical and health officer PraveenJadia said as per the government's new guidelines, theasymptomatic COVID-19 patients are being advised to stay inhome isolation.A caregiver is also being deputed for such patient toget medicines for them. The caregiver would also monitor thehealth of a patient regularly and inform the health departmentabout his condition.
