In a letter to the National Stock Exchange, <keyword id="6354287" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Bharti-Airtel">Bharti Airtel</keyword> has announced that financial services industry veteran and one of the independent directors of the company, <keyword id="272759" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ajay-Lal">Ajay Lal</keyword>, has retired from the company’s Board of Directors. Lal, who joined Bharti Airtel’s Board on January 23, 2006, retired on January 22, 2015. 
	 
	“Bharti Airtel Limited has informed the Exchange that in line with Company's policy on Independent Directors and the shareholders' resolution dated September 01, 2014, Ajay Lal, Independent Director, will retire from the Board effective January 22, 2015, after completing nine years. 
	 Lal was an independent non-executive director of the company. Currently, he is the senior partner and managing director of premier private equity firm, <keyword id="221962" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="AIF-Capital">AIF Capital</keyword> India. Lal has an expertise in private equity, project finance and corporate banking. Lal’s previous work experiences include his stint with AIG Investment Corporation and Bank of America.

<keyword id="80296" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="eicher-motors" source="Orion">Eicher Motors</keyword> on Monday said it has 'unanimously' decided to re-appoint <keyword id="121127" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="siddhartha-lal" source="Orion">Siddhartha Lal</keyword> as Managing Director of the company with effect from May 1, 2021, with changes in his remuneration package, a week after the company's shareholders rejected the proposal. The company said that the board of directors on Monday discussed the outcome of the <keyword id="1698727" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="39th-agm" source="Orion">39th AGM</keyword> held on August 17, 2021. The matter pertaining to the re-appointment of Lal as Managing Director and the remuneration proposal was discussed comprehensively, and the Board unanimously decided to re-appoint him as Managing Director, with effect from May 1, 2021, Eicher Motors said in a statement. The Board will now go back to shareholders for approval through postal ballot, it added. Last week, the company's shareholders had rejected the re-appointment of Lal as Managing Director. The shareholders had voted against the proposal mainly due to the proposed increase in Lal's remuneration package. "The Nomination and Remuneration Committee (NRC) of the company has considered all the factors, including inputs from various stakeholders including institutional investors before recommending remuneration for key managerial persons. The primary concern with investors was not Siddhartha's reappointment as Managing Director or the proposed compensation; it was the lack of clarity regarding the enabling provision that potentially allowed payment of remuneration up to 3 per cent of profits," Eicher Motors Chairman S Sandilya said. Over the last four years, the company has had the same limit of 3 per cent, but in reality have paid only a fraction of that amount, he added. "The actual remuneration during FY2021 was at 1.04 per cent of profits, with the preceding years being at a lower percentage," Sandilya said. Given the background of actual remuneration paid to the Managing Director in preceding years, the Board has now approved a revised remuneration structure for the Managing Director, with a maximum cap of 1.5 per cent of profits, the company said. Specific details of the remuneration are being shared via the postal ballot, it added. "The remuneration increase in FY2021 is in line with the average 9.7 per cent increment given to all company employees for the year. The median, which is a measure of central tendency, is impacted by entry and exits of employees," Eicher Motors Independent Director and Chairperson of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee Manvi Sinha noted. During FY2021, 267 employees joined the company, out of which 77 per cent were hired at below the median salary and 284 employees exited the company out of which 66 per cent were drawing higher than the median salary, she added. "Owing to this, despite there being a 9.7 per cent average increase in salaries at Eicher Motors in FY2021, the median shows an increase of just 1 per cent. The board fully supports Siddhartha's appointment as Managing Director and his proposed compensation, and we are confident that our shareholders will support these resolutions as well," Sinha said. Elaborating on the role played by Lal in the growth of the company, Sandilya said that he has been the architect of Eicher Motors' growth story over the last two decades. "When he took over as CEO of <keyword id="94237" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="royal-enfield" source="Orion">Royal Enfield</keyword> in 2000, the division was making large losses and was slated for closure. Siddhartha has transformed Royal Enfield into a formidable premium motorcycling brand in India, pioneering the leisure riding segment," he stated. Royal Enfield, a part of Eicher Motors, grew the premium over 250cc market in India exponentially, and has maintained over 90 per cent market share in it for the last decade, resulting in EBITDA margins for EML at over 30 per cent during the pre-pandemic peak, Sandilya noted. Subsequently, Lal moved to the UK in 2015 to personally drive the company's ambition of becoming the first global premium consumer brand to emerge from India; there he was directly overseeing the product development and international expansion, he added. "Going forward, Siddhartha and his team at EML have charted out exciting and robust plans for the future. Royal Enfield, already the global leader in middleweight motorcycles (250cc-750cc), is on the path to growing this segment multi-fold globally and becoming the first global consumer brand to emerge from India. Also, under the chairmanship of Siddhartha, VE Commercial Vehicles is all set to attain new heights by leading the modernisation and transformation of India's commercial vehicle sector," Sandilya said. In addition to the motorcycle business, Eicher motors has a joint venture with Sweden's AB Volvo - VE Commercial Vehicles Limited (VECV). During the company's 39th AGM earlier this month, while 73 per cent of the votes favoured Lal's re-appointment as Managing Director, the rest 27 per cent were against it. As a special resolution, it needed support from 75 per cent of the votes cast to pass the proposal. Out of the total 21,74,67,139 votes, 15,88,49,543 (73.04 per cent) were in favour of the re-appointment while 5,86,17,596 (26.95 per cent) votes disapproved the proposal. The company's public institutional shareholders particularly opposed the move. Royal Enfield maker Eicher Motors re-appoints Siddhartha Lal as MD amid a salary hike tussle

New Delhi, Feb 3 () Diagnostic services provider Dr Lal PathLabs on Monday reported a 19.08 per cent increase in consolidated net profit at Rs 54.9 crore for the quarter ended December 31. 
 The company had posted a net profit of Rs 46.1 crore in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal, Dr Lal PathLabs said in a filing to the BSE.
 Its revenue from operations rose to Rs 327.9 crore during the quarter under review as against Rs 292.5 crore in the year-ago period.
 Shares of Dr Lal PathLabs on Monday closed 2.78 per cent lower at Rs 1,720.20 per scrip on the BSE. AKT RVK

The friend gave him a weight loss remedy.
"I tried it and I lost 8 pounds in two weeks. I asked him is this legal? If so let's mass produce it," Lal told Business Insider.
Lal had a credit card with a $5,000 limit and off he went to bottle the supplement now named Shredz.
By the start of 2013, he was ready to sell it but needed to find buyers.
The plan was typical for the weight loss industry: hire fitness personalities to endorse the supplement. Lal opted for folks with local and regional followings like <a href="http://www.jonathancoylefit.com/?page_id=1918">Jonathan Coyle, a 31-year-old CrossFit trainer</a> in Orange, Calif.
He wanted athletes to write articles about motivation, fitness, training and weight loss and reach young people through social media like Twitter, Facebook and <keyword id="819905" type="COMPANY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Instagram">Instagram</keyword>.
"We want to get people to change their lives, not just lose weight," he says.
Shredz articles did well on Facebook and Twitter, but things really took off when they started using Instagram, Lal told us. Turns out, pictures of beautiful, fit male and female trainers tend to be popular on Instagram.
But Lal's athletes were not big national stars with huge followings. He needed to help them grow and because his company, Beyond Genetics Supplements, was entirely bootstrapped, he couldn't spend a lot on social media management technology.
So he found three free apps to help: an analytics site called Statigram, which lets you manage and monitor your Instagram; an iPhone Instagram app, Kik, for chatting with Instagram users and sending private messages; and Instolver, for uploading hundreds of pics to Instagram at a time.
By using these tools (and a few others Lal wouldn't reveal), Lal taught trainers exactly what, when, where and how to post to grab followers.
10 months later and the company itself has 2.7 million social media followers. Plus its trainers reach another 3.16 million people on Instagram alone, according to records shown to Business Insider.
And that's lead to growth. The company now has a whole line of supplements, employs about 50 people (between staffers and contract trainers) and generates $3.1 million in sales, Lal says.
Thanks, in large part, to Instagram.

Manohar Lal Khattar wins his constituency but is hanging on to Haryana by a thread

By Tapan Mohanta Kolkata, Apr 20 () Having fought cancer four years ago, former India batsman and Bengal coach Arun Lal knows a thing or two about conquering a dreadful disease and as the country battles the COVID-19 pandemic, he feels both immunity and optimism need to be kept high. The former player was detected with adenoid cystic carcinoma, a rare type of salivary glands cancer, but he overcame the disease and gained abundant hope in the process. "It's a disease after all. You have to believe that you can fight it. You have no other choice. You have to be prepared for the worst. Hope for the best," Lal, under whom Bengal made their first Ranji final after 13 years this season, told in an interaction. "You have to keep your immunity level high. You have to fight it. You have to stay positive, and believe in yourself. Eat well, sleep well, keep your immunity level high." Lal was slated for a fortnight's holiday in Europe from April 15, but the COVID-19 pandemic put paid to all his plans and he's now confined at home, like everyone else. "You have to prevent it not only for yourself but for everybody else around you. That's what I'm doing, I'm staying isolated. Looking after the elderly in the house," he said. "Nobody knows very much about it yet. You have to be very very clear that you have to stay isolated. You have to wash your hands, wear a mask. You've to be careful." With the world under lockdown to stop the spread of the deadly virus, Lal is doing his bit, looking after his ailing mother and wife, doing household chores that include cooking and cleaning. "Gardening, cooking, cleaning. Then I've to look after my mother and wife, both are sort of semi bed-ridden. No help is also coming. Only one person I have," he said. "I sometime make the sweet dishes, or may be the odd gobhi-aloo, bhindi or karela. I also love to cook meat. I make lovely meat. 24 hours is less for me. We are managing somehow." A hard taskmaster, Lal is also making sure that his wards are engaged in training. "Now everybody is training on their own. We have laid out plans for the fast bowling unit. They are given whole plan on what to do everyday and what training, and how to do. We want to be fitter than last year." "They don't have grounds so they can only train on the roofs of their buildings, inside home, or in the drive-in and things like that. We hope to get together from July 1. But you never know. Future is very uncertain," he said. "So far we are only working with the bowling unit. Not the batsmen yet. It's been our major deficiency area. Thalassemia patients to get ₹ 2,500 per month in Haryana

Chandigarh, Mar 2 () Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Monday announced special girdawari (revenue survey) of rabi crops affected due to heavy rains and hailstorms in some parts of the state recently. The special girdawari was ordered for assessment of crop loss so that the farmers can get compensation for damaged crops. The chief minister made the announcement in the State Assembly here after some members expressed concern over loss of crops due to unseasonal rains and hailstorms. On Sunday, Haryana's Cooperation Minister Banwari Lal had inspected fields of farmers and interacted with those whose crops were damaged due to rains and hailstorm in Rewari district. During his visit, Lal had assured the farmers of all possible help and also directed sub-divisional officer and officials of agriculture department to assess crop loss of every affected farmer.
