Amazon's Jeff Bezos' personal net worth is as big as RIL — and twice as much as Mukesh Ambani

The annual extravaganza that all Indian businessmen wait for with bated breath but pretend they don’t and everyone else who want to disappoint themselves at the heights everyone but him are reaching, is here.

1. <keyword id="3820" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Mukesh-Ambani">Mukesh Ambani</keyword> will hold the distinction of being the richest Indian until the world ends: If the Forbes ‘India’s 100 Richest People’ List teaches us anything, it’s that <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/topic/Mukesh-Ambani">Mukesh Ambani</a> of <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/RIL-to-take-over-TV-content-distribution-business-by-2017/articleshow/47771219.cms">Reliance Industries</a> will continue holding on to the crown of being the richest person to breathe in India, come what may.No earthquake, recession or even the world ending can change the fact. Thus, it comes as no surprise that at 58, Ambani tops the list for the ninth year in a row despite his wealth dipping by $4.7 billion in a year. 
Mukesh Ambani’s net worth stands at a whopping $18.9 million, followed by Sun Pharma’s Dilip Shanghvi coming in second whose net worth stands at $18 million. Wipro’s Azim Premji retains his third spots with a net worth calculated at $15.9 billion

Flipkart’s Sachin and <keyword id="6364080" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Binny-Bansal">Binny Bansal</keyword> make a compelling debut and are the youngest on the list: At 32 and 34 respectively<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=FLIPKART">, Flipkart’s</a> co-founders Binny Bansal and <keyword id="225032" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Sachin-Bansal">Sachin Bansal</keyword> just proved to the country that age is just a number. 
Making their presence felt for the first time at the 86th spot, they are also the youngest on the list. Their estimated net worth stands at $1.3 billion. 
 
 
 
3. Brijmohan Lall Munjal proves that old is definitely gold: The owner and founder of Hero Motocorp (Hero group of companies) ranked 27 in the list, at the ripe age of 92. If anything, he definitely proves that old is gold. And, a lot of it that too, considering his net worth is estimated at a staggering $3 billion. 
 
 
 
4. Welcome the newcomers: This year, the list features atleast 12 newcomers including the Flipkart co-founders and Indigo co-founder Rakesh Gangwal (picture above) who had debuted at the 70th spot with a net worth of $ 1.6 billion ahead of his company’s IPO. 
 
 
 
5. Meet the women with the moolah: Last but not the least, this year’s list also had as many as four businesswomen being featured on it. The notable two are sixty-five year old Savitri Jindal (picture above), of Jindal Steel &amp; Power Limited was ranked at 23, with an estimated net worth of $3.8 billion and seventy-nine year old Indu Jain, current chairperson of India’s largest media group, Bennet Coleman &amp; Co Ltd at the 57th spot, with a net worth of $ 1.9 billion 
 Apart from these, the top 10 featured the usual suspects, i.e. <keyword id="29201" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Lakshmi-Mittal">Lakshmi Mittal</keyword>, Hinduja brothers, Godrej Family, Shiv Nadar etc. And, according to Forbes, the combined wealth of India's 100 richest persons remained largely unchanged at $345 billion, compared with $346 billion in 2014.

<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=mukesh+ambani">Mukesh Ambani</a>, the CMD of<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Reliance+Industries+"> Reliance Industries Limited</a>, has again become the world’s wealthiest Indian. Ambani pipped pharma tycoon <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Dilip+Shanghvi">Dilip Shanghvi</a> and now the title is back into Ambani’s kitty. His net worth is now $18.20 billion 
 
Ambani became world’s richest after shares of his RIL fell nearly 6% and Dilip Shanghvi-owned Sun Pahrma saw a fall of 7% in its shares recently. 
 
Now, Shanghvi’s net worth is $17.80 billion. The recent changes in the numbers suggest that Ambani has lost over $3 billion in wealth while Shanghvi has gained $714 million. 
 Among the top 10 wealthiest Indians is Pallinji Mistry with net worth of $14.60 billion and is on the third place. On the fourth place is <keyword id="6419840" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Azim-Premji">Azim Premji</keyword> with worth of $14.40 billion. 
 
The Indian industrialist and philanthropist Shiv Nadar managed to secure the fifth place with his total assets worth $12.80 billion. 
 
<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Lakshmi+Mittal">Lakshmi Mittal</a>, the Indian steel magnate, was placed at sixth place with worth of $12.10 billion, while <keyword id="561" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Cyrus-Poonawala">Cyrus Poonawala</keyword> was on seventh with a total worth of $8.50 billion.

Mukesh Ambani back to being the wealthiest Indian

The Hinduja brothers have topped the 2017 list of the richest people in the UK with a wealth of 16.2 billion pounds, a massive 3. 2 billion pound hike in their fortunes over the previous year, according to PTI news report. 'The <keyword id="642222" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Sunday-Times-Rich-List">Sunday Times Rich List</keyword>' says that Brexit does not seem to have affected the country's billionaires, who grew in numbers with a 14 per cent rise in their fortunes since the referendum last June to earn a record 658 billion pounds collectively. Srichand and Gopichand Hinduja, aged 81 and 77, lead the pack of 134 UK-based billionaires on the list and have made their fortune from investments in industries such as oil and gas, automotive, IT, energy, media, banking, property and healthcare sectors. Their latest project is converting the Old War Office in London into a five-star hotel and luxury apartments, the newspaper notes. Another sof India-born billionaire brothers, David and <keyword id="1030837" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Simon-Reuben">Simon Reuben</keyword>, who had topped the list last year have moved down to third place with steel tycoon <keyword id="75195" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Lakshmi-N-Mittal">Lakshmi N Mittal</keyword> at fourth. The second spot, occupied by the Hinduja brothers until 2016, has been taken over by Russian-born American businessman <keyword id="222885" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Len-Blavatnik">Len Blavatnik</keyword>. "While many of us worried about the outcome of the <keyword id="6355123" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="EU">EU</keyword> referendum, many of <keyword id="11101" type="COUNTRY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Britain">Britain</keyword>'s richest people just kept calm and carried on making billions," said Robert Watts, compiler of the list. "We expected to see a chilling effect in the run-up to the EU referendum, but that simply did not materialise. A buoyant stock market usually drives the wealth of Rich Listers higher, and since last June equities have soared," he said. This year's list was also described as more diverse in composition, with more women, more people from ethnic backgrounds, and more from surprising walks of life, with egg farmers and pet food makers among the super-rich line-up. It now takes assets of 110 million pounds to break into the ranks of the richest 1,000 people in the UK. The figure in 2016 was 103 million pounds. The top 20 in the list alone are worth a total of 191.77 billion pounds, increasing their wealth by 35.18 billion pounds over the past 12 months.

But, having said that, it should also be kept in mind that not everything comes easy. And, while being born in one of the country’s richest families may help things, but it’s still never enough to be successful.

He’s also the world’s fourth-richest fossil-fuel billionaires as per <a href="https://www.bloombergquint.com/business/warren-buffett-is-one-of-the-worlds-richest-fossil-fuel-billionaires">Bloomberg</a>. "We are investors in the US in the energy sector and have invested $7 billion towards that," Ambani told Trump who replied, "$7 billion, yeah, big one." Reliance Industries trades fuel in North America and also has multiple investments in US shale gas projects. In June last year, the company even <a href="https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/company/corporate-trends/reliance-industries-resumes-lobbying-in-us-ropes-in-new-lobbyist/articleshow/69623831.cms?from=mdr">roped in a new firm</a> to help with the lobbying. Ambani also told Trump that Reliance Jio is the only network in the world "that doesn’t have a single Chinese component." Trump replied with a chuckle, "Well, that’s good. Put a bid in." According to the company records, Jio has only partnered with non-Chinese equipment manufacturers like South Korea-based Samsung. The US and Trump especially, have famously been lobbying against the Chinese manufacturer Huawei’s 5G technology — alleging that the company shares data with its government. Indian car companies have an edge when it comes to right-handed diesel vehicles Anand Mahindra told Trump that his company has already invested $1 billion in the US and will happily invest another billion — if the contract with the United States Postal Services comes through. "Right now, we’re in the shortlist of the pick for the United States Postal Service new delivery van — a decision which should come by the end of the year. And when that comes through, we will very happily put in another billion and employ about 2,000 people," he said. "That’s a big business," Trump replied after finding out that the project involved the production of 180,000 vans. Although normal cars in the US have left-handed driving, postal vans need the steering wheel to be on the right. Mahindra pointed out that Indian automotive manufacturers are ideal for the project since they specialise in right-handed driving diesel vehicles. Protecting domestic manufacturing Lakshmi Mittal lauded Trump for saving the US steel industry. "Section 232 has been the big lesson for the rest of the world on how to support domestic manufacturing. And this is what we expect the other countries to learn: that they should support domestic manufacturing, not made in China," he said. Trump pointed out that aluminium and steel industries are integral to any country. "Steel you need, from a military — and aluminium you need. You got to have the aluminium. But steel you need probably more than anything else. You have to have it," he said. Going forward, Mittal noted that ArcelorMittal has plans to announce a multi-million dollar investment for a new steel plant, probably in the US state of Alabama. Technology in the US Salil Parekh told Trump that Infosys has invested around $525 million in the US market over the past two years creating 24,000 employees across six new centres. However, Mohan Reddy — founder of technology company Cyient — expressed concerns about administrative and legislative challenges that remain despite reforms. "We’re going to cut a lot more regulations. And, we’re going to also have regulations because I think you need regulation for safety and for the environment. But no President has ever cut anywhere close to what we’ve done." said Trump. Trump’s bid for getting re-elected When Ambani thanked Trump for his measure on making business easier in the US, the President said, "But if the wrong person gets elected, that won’t happen at all." He added that if he doesn’t get re-elected in the upcoming US Presidential Election, the unemployment in India will surge to 8 to 10%. "When we win re-election — and I think we will — when we win, I think the market is going to go up like — it’s going to be like a rocket ship. Like last time, but even more so," Trump told another participant. Anand Mahindra, Mukesh Ambani and LN Mittal each had a different pitch to charm Donald Trump

For eight consecutive years in a row, <keyword id="10926" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Reliance">Reliance</keyword> Industries chairman <keyword id="3820" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Mukesh-Ambani">Mukesh Ambani</keyword> has topped the Forbes magazine's list of the top 100 richest tycoons in India with a net worth of $23.6 billion, up $2.6 billion from last year. 
 
Surprisingly, for the first time the Forbes rich list revealed that in 2014 India is home to the top 100 richest tycoons and all are billionaires. It worth noting that the combined net worth of India's 100 wealthiest is $346 billion, up more than a third from $259 billion in 2013. 
 According to Naazneen Karmali, India editor of <keyword id="245051" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Forbes-Asia">Forbes Asia</keyword>, "In 2014, India's outlook has moved very quickly from gloom to boom. The new federal government's mandate for change has sparked euphoria in the stock market causing a seismic shift in Indian wealth this year." 
 With net worth of $18 billion, 59-year-old <keyword id="207035" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Dilip-Shanghvi">Dilip Shanghvi</keyword>, founder of Sun Pharmaceutical Industries, India's most valuable drug maker, has bagged the second rank. He has overtaken steel baron Lakshmi Mittal, who slips to fifth place. 
 <keyword id="10862" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Wipro">Wipro</keyword>’s <keyword id="6419840" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Azim-Premji">Azim Premji</keyword> moved up one notch to No. 3. His net wealth increased to $16.4 billion from $13.8 billion previously. 
 Ports magnate <keyword id="111343" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Gautam-Adani">Gautam Adani</keyword>, the biggest dollar gainer, jumped 11 spots to No. 11, adding nearly $4.5 billion to his wealth which reached $7.1 billion on soaring shares of his companies. 
 As per Forbes, Adani has been on a buying spree. He bought a port in eastern India from the <keyword id="6355725" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Tata-Group">Tata Group</keyword> for $900 million and agreed to pay $1 billion for a power plant in southern India.
