Skoda Kylaq SUV launched in India starting at ₹7.89 lakh

The company, which posted a whopping 125 percent year-on-year surge in its vehicle sales at 53,721 units in 2022, also sounded hopeful of growing into double-digit this year as well. "India is an absolutely important market as part of our regional strategy of Skoda Auto, and India will become an export hub for Skoda," <keyword id="14798920" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="petr-solc" source="Orion">Petr Solc</keyword>, Brand Director at Skoda Auto India told PTI in an interaction. Volkswagen is already exporting vehicles from India to Mexico and South Africa while Skoda Auto is exporting to the Middle East and North Africa. "From next year we will start exporting vehicle kits for assembly in Vietnam," Solc stated. Export is already an important part and will continue to be an important part of the strategy for Skoda and Volkswagen, he stated. Noting that Skoda Auto India for the first time delivered more than 50,000 cars in the domestic market last year, he said "we would like to grow with the market or even faster and our ambition is to grow into double digits." He said that 2022 was specific for the company on account of the Slavia launch and added that "So, there was this kind of a one-time effect of any new model introduction." "Now, we have both models (all-new Slavia sedan and <keyword id="10576650" type="General" weightage="60" keywordseo="kushaq-suv" source="Orion">Kushaq SUV</keyword>) in the market and can now enjoy having both models for the full year in the market," he said. Solc said that the 7-seater updated SUV Kodiaq will also play a role in terms of the company's growth strategy, particularly when there is a much greater supply now. To a question on Audi, which at a point of time was the undisputed leader in the domestic premium luxury car market, Christian Cahn Von Seelen, Member of the Board for sales, marketing and digital at SAVWPIL said that its growth has been "impressive" in terms of volume in 2022 compared to the year earlier and that was still hampered significantly by the chip supply situations even in Europe. "So the growth of Audi is impressive, and we are definitely planning to continue...So as much (as) I think, I can say we will see loads of new product introductions here on the other side." On the company's EV foray in the Indian market, Solc said it depends on the development of the segment in the country. Late last month, the European car maker Skoda announced its EV roadmap, which includes six electric cars in a phased manner by 2026. "We as a manufacturer and Skoda, we will be ready. And if we see good traction, we are talking about the prognosis that the car market or the EV can go within 5-10 years, up to 20, maybe 30 per cent. We don't know necessarily," he said. "So this could be part, we would like to be also within that range, but depends again, on the response. If we see more manufacturers going, there is an infrastructure built here and there's an acceptance from the customers to buy electric cars, and we will be ready," he said. He said that the company is discussing which models it should bring in the future also to India as an EV. "And if we see the potential in the market, we will bring them as well. So I cannot say necessarily what the percentage will be. But if the market is going towards more than 20 per cent of the electric vehicles of the total market, we would like to penetrate within the EV segment," Solc added. But in the last three years, we have even witnessed some very niche luxury car features trickling down to the common man's cars. It’s known that any invention or innovation is expensive initially, and it becomes more accessible as it spends time in the market. Take smartphones, for example, the high-resolution camera, fast charging, and wireless charging - all these features were seen only on premium segment phones, but today, they’re common in most phones. While it's not the most demanded feature, it is still new to budget cars, and it was recently seen on the Maruti Suzuki Baleno and the new Glanza, which cost less than ₹10 lakh in India. Integrated Air purifiers These are air filtration systems built into the car's air conditioning system, designed to remove dust, allergens, and pollutants from the air inside the car. Wireless charging This feature allows you to charge your mobile devices wirelessly by placing them on a charging pad built into the car. Cruise control and Assisted Driving These features allow the car to maintain a constant speed without the driver having to keep their foot on the gas pedal. In the case of assisted driving, the car uses advanced sensors and cameras to adjust speed, steer, and brake, but the driver must still be alert and ready to take control at any time. Auto headlamps and wipers These features automatically turn on the car's headlights and wipers in response to lighting conditions or rainfall changes, allowing the driver to focus on driving. This isn’t particularly new to budget cars, as Hyundai has been offering this for quite some time on its i10 and i20 series, but it has now become a basic feature on most upper-segment variants of budget cars. Heated OVRMs OVRMs stands for Outside Rear-View Mirrors. Heated OVRMs are a feature that heats the exterior mirrors to prevent ice buildup during cold weather, improving visibility. Audi Q8 limited edition races into the festive season with a ₹1.18 crore price tag

While the company makes maximum effort to reduce cost and partially offset the increase, it has become imperative to pass on some of the impact through a price increase,” Maruti Suzuki said in an exchange filing. The company is yet to reveal the extent of price hikes. “The Company has planned this price increase in January, 2023 which shall vary across models,” the company added. Maruti Suzuki cars will get costlier from January 2023

When South Korean car brand <keyword id="6372046" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="kia">Kia</keyword> launched its first SUV, <a href="https://www.carandbike.com/kia-cars/seltos" data-type="tilCustomLink">Kia Seltos</a>, in India in August 2019, it had a lot of odds stacked up against it. The sector itself was going through the worst ever sales slump across two and four wheelers. Added to that, India is predominantly a small car market, leaving a large section of buyers away from it. Yet, it looks like Kia, which set up a factory in Andhra Pradesh, seemed to have packed in what Indians want - good quality at value. By March 2020, it became the largest selling SUV, surprising even the trade pundits. Soon, it had a problem that many automakers would love to have, way too much demand which is affecting their delivery time, making them switch to two shifts. “KIA’s successful entry in India has further enabled the group to gain market share. KIA is a great example of successful badge engineering, something other original equipment manufacturers like Renault-Nissan have been unable to accomplish,” said Sumit Bali, president and head of retail lending and payment, at Axis Bank said during an Axis Capital conference. Cool and futuristic features Its attractive price point at around Rs 9.8 lakhs, Indian love for compact SUVs, and its futuristic technology, and the tiger-nose grille design was too good to pass up. The car was already BS6 compliant which would mean that buyers would not have to worry about changing regulations for a long time. Their range offers the best engine options as well. The success was replicated by all their launches after like <keyword id="8462155" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="kia-sonet">Kia Sonet</keyword> and Kia Carnival had a lot of “cool features” like voice commands, a sun roof (which is now an ultra popular feature across cars of all sizes), wireless charging and more. But <keyword id="7720018" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="kia-seltos">Kia Seltos</keyword> remains its flagship car as its market share went up to 5.14% in January 2021, even in a declining sales market. Within months of its launch, Kia Seltos outsold two of the most popular cars in the compact SUV segment - <a href="https://www.carandbike.com/hyundai-cars/creta" data-type="tilCustomLink">Hyundai Creta</a> and Maruti Brezza - during some months. But it’s not just the older models that has Seltos as its competitor. A large number of car launches are being planned in 2021-22, and they will have to displace Seltos from its throne. As per an Axis Capital report, Eyecatchers, Seltos features as a key competing model for as many as nine of the new car launches planned in the coming financial year. The automaker who might see most competition from Kia Seltos could be <keyword id="6357096" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Mahindra-Mahindra">Mahindra &amp; Mahindra</keyword>, whose three launches fall in the category including a next generation version of <a href="https://www.carandbike.com/mahindra-cars/xuv500" data-type="tilCustomLink">Mahindra XUV500</a>. Kia will also be going against yet another new entrant into the Indian market - MG Motors. Two of its three new launches namely MG ZS and a six seater version of MG Hector might have to compete with Kia Seltos in addition to <keyword id="795907" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Mahindra-XUV500">Mahindra XUV500</keyword> and <keyword id="2883300" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Hyundai-Creta">Hyundai Creta</keyword>.
