 The latest fair, held in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh visited by an estimated 130- 140 million people, set up records for largest crowd management, largest sanitation drive and largest painting exercise of public sites. The exercises were performed before a team a Guiness for four days, from February 28 to March 3. "Around 503 shuttle buses were pressed into service on the highway in one go for the team on February 28. Several people participated in a painting exercise on March 1 and 10,000 workers engaged in cleaning at the Kumbh, all performing their duties together," India’s Ministry of Culture said in a statement. On March 1, over 10,000 people engaged in cleaning and sanitation activities at the same on different venues, setting up a record for the "most people sweeping the floor.”

 Just a day before, the state of Uttar Pradesh set a new record for “The Longest Parade of Buses”by rolling out a fleet of 500 buses lined up for nearly two miles.

 Katju’s satirical twitter post showcased a list of cities which were potential candidates for a new name. Some of the recommendations include: Ahmedabad to Ashtavakra Nagar, Firozabad to Amitshahnagar, Hajipur to Hastinapur, Jamalpur to Jaiminipur, and even Ghaziabad to Ghatotkachnagar. Apart from Justice Katju, Madras High Court and Chief Justice of Allahabad Delhi have also criticised the Uttar Pradesh (UP) government. Even Congress and the Samajwadi party are protesting the decision. Akhilesh Yadav, the state’s former Chief Minister, <a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/news/india/akhilesh-yadav-slams-yogi-govt-over-proposed-move-to-rename-allahabad-as-prayagraj-3048451.html">slammed</a> the UP government stating that current political leaders only show their work only by renaming cities. In contrast, some media <a href="https://www.ndtv.com/allahabad-news/allahabad-is-now-prayagraj-says-uttar-pradesh-minister-siddharth-nath-singh-after-cabinet-meeting-1932852">reports</a> claim that Yogi Adityanath has given Allahabad its former name ‘Prayag’ back. Even Kumbh Mela 2019, one of the most-awaited events in the city, will sport banners will with Prayagraj as the name of the city instead of Allahabad. This is not the first time that UP government has altered names. Earlier, Adityanath had renamed Mughalsarai junction in Agra to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Junction in order to give the railway station a ‘Hindu identity’.

<ul><li><keyword id="2801660" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="BARC-India">BARC India</keyword> released the second edition of its What India Watched report for 2019 which revealed that 2019 generated 48.4 trillion television viewing minutes and 1.59 billion seconds of advertising.</li><li>Despite the rollout of <keyword id="1711202" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="NTO">NTO</keyword>, each household watched 5 hours, 11 minutes of television every day in 2019.</li><li>Regional channels, sports and the news genre reported a steady growth.</li><li>While TV ad volumes saw a 3.6% drop, share of top 10 advertisers reported growth.</li></ul>The <keyword id="397085" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Broadcast-Audience-Research-Council">Broadcast Audience Research Council</keyword> (BARC) India revealed that 2019 generated 48.4 trillion television viewing minutes and 1.59 billion seconds of advertising. While Ad FCT at 1.6 billion seconds fell by 3.6% (over 2018), the share of Top 10 advertisers grew by 3.8%. The findings were a part of the second edition of BARC’s What India Watched report under which it measured 634 channels.Viewership has seen a 38% growth over the last four years. Each household watches 5 hours, 11 minutes of television every day and as many as 222 million individuals tune in to primetime television at any given minute. The report also found that despite the rollout of a new tariff order (NTO), <keyword id="659577" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="TV-viewership">TV viewership</keyword> registered a growth in 2019. GEC and movies continued to account for 3/4th of TV viewership. This growth in viewership has given an impetus to regional language markets. Share of viewership of channels other than Hindi and the 4 South languages have risen steadily, from 15% in 2016 to 23% in 2019. Viewership of most regional language channels have doubled in the same period. English Language channels have seen a decline in viewership - one reason is that sports content - which was traditionally broadcast largely in English - is increasingly available in Hindi and regional languages. Here, viewership for Hindi language channels have grown by 31% in the last 4 years and contributed to 44% of total TV viewership in 2019 Growth of the news genre 2019 saw a 23% growth in viewing minutes for News Channels over the previous year, with the genre accounting for 8.9% of total television viewing - its highest share over the last four years. 2019 was the year of General Elections, as well as polls to elect 7 State Assemblies. Earlier in the year, there was extensive news coverage of the Pulwama Terror Attack and the aftermath of that, including the Balakot Air Strike, and capture and release of Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman. Later in the year, the triple talaq debate and the abrogation of Article 370 dominated headlines. Beyond political affairs, there were several other developments that drove news viewership in 2019 - severe rains and floods in many parts of the country, Chandrayaan-2, the Ardh Kumbh Mela and ICC World Cup Cricket. These ensured high viewer interest through the year, across the country. The Maharashtra Legislative Assembly elections and the run-up to government formation, Supreme Court decision on Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute and the controversy around Citizenship Amendment Act also led to successive viewership peaks for the news genre. Impact of NTO On February 1 2019, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI)'s New Tariff Order (NTO) for Broadcasting and Cable Services came into force. The report revealed that the NTO led to a drop in percentage of households that watched 30 channels or more on an average per week, while share of homes that watched 20 channels or less increased. Growth of sports channels In 2019, sports channels saw a growth of 17% (viewing minutes) over 2018. The genre contributed to 3.2% of total TV viewership in 2019 - which was the highest over the last 4 years. Beyond cricket, the most watched sports on TV are Kabaddi, Wrestling and Football. Together, they corner 85% of viewing minutes of non-cricket events. Moreover, in 2019, about 424 million viewers (which is 51% of the total TV viewing population) watched live matches of IPL-12. BARC India's Out of Home Measurement showed that an additional 9% watched the tournament in restaurants, pubs and other such ‘Out of Home’ locations. Urban vs Rural BARC India's BI-2018 Survey estimated that 44% individuals with access to TV live in Urban areas, while 56% are in Rural India. This is an outcome of higher TV penetration in Urban areas, given that television ownership is linked largely to economic status (among other factors like availability of power, cable TV distribution etc.). The Urban and Rural viewer profile has some key differences, which influence the respective character of TV consumption: While Rural India accounts for a higher viewership share than Urban India for GEC and Movies genre, the picture is reversed for the kids genre. In News, the viewership contribution is split evenly between Urban and Rural. Advertising on TV Over the last 4 years, the volume of advertising on TV (FCT) has grown by 21%. In 2019, 11,525 Advertisers ran 76.8 million ads across 634 measured channels that reached out to 197 million homes across India. All leading products and services use TV's huge reach to connect with their target consumers. Of these, FMCG occupies the top slot, accounting for 54% of ad duration in 2019. FMCG and e-Commerce were the two segments that increased their ad volumes on TV in 2019 over the previous year. In terms of genre share in advertising, GEC, Movies and News account for the largest share of Ad volumes (78% in 2019).

Have you been able to convince consumers that healthy really means healthy and doesn’t really mean it won’t taste good? For over two years now, we have built our product around its core of healthy snacking. We waited to first successfully establish ourselves as a dominant player in the healthy snacking category before we could shift our focus to taste. By rolling out our recent flavors campaign, we have done just that. We have identified India’s favorite flavors and incorporated them into our snacks to provide an offering that ranks high on both taste and health benefits. I believe that through the flavors campaign, we will be able to convince our customers that leading a healthy lifestyle won’t mean compromising on taste. Q) Tell us a bit about the recently launched campaign and the thought behind it? Over the years, we have built our brand proposition around the health benefits of Too Yumm! Having established ourselves as a strong player in the category, we now wanted to shift our focus to what consumers tend to take into consideration, more often than not, when deciding between snacks. With our flavors campaign rolling out this year, we have identified India’s favorite flavors and incorporated them into our snacks. What makes our products stand out here is the fact that these flavors have been made specifically to cater to the Indian palete. Our new campaign ‘Har Craving ka Jawaab’ aims to position Too Yumm! as the perfect guilt-free solution to all cravings, irrespective of where or when they arise. The ad campaign reveals India’s favorite flavors according to Virat Kohli – Noodle Masaala, Dahi Pappdi Chaat, Chilli Chataka and Chilli Achaari. The TVCs deliver a strong message that no matter where or when a craving arises, it can be aptly satisfied by opening a pack of your favorite Too Yumm! flavor. Q) How has roping in Virat pretty early in your brand journey helped you build your brand image? We realized rather early on in our journey that to succeed in the healthy snacking category, we would need an influencer. With influencers picking only brands and causes that they support and can get behind, consumers take their opinions into consideration before making a purchase. For us, making Virat our health ambassador helped us successfully reach our target audience and convey the right message. Virat’s personality matches that of our brand and hence our consumers get the right idea. We make sure to rope in our health ambassador in most, if not all our communications with our consumers. Additionally, since he is an inspirational personality representing the most-loved sport of our country and falls within the target age bracket, the match seemed ideal. Being an inspiration to the youth of the country, Virat is admired for his fitness regime and healthy lifestyle. Keeping this in mind, when youngsters look at Virat endorsing and enjoying our brand, they immediately associate it to health and wellness. Our latest ad campaign built around the new flavours shows Virat satisfying his cravings by opening a pack of Too Yumm! Hence, making Too Yumm! an aspirational product for the millennial generation by default. Q) Are there any new categories that Too Yumm! is currently looking at entering? Our next aim is to expand our presence among kids. Since we have already established ourselves in the healthy snacking category and have the parents’ trust on our side, we believe now would be the right time to provide a greater variety of offerings to the children. Q) How was 2019 for brand Too Yumm? Can you share some growth figures? What are your targets for 2020, and how do you aim to achieve these numbers? 2019 has been a good year for us overall. We stayed true to the core of ‘Health’ for our brand and entrenched it further with the genres relevant to us – like sports, travel, music, humour, and health; associated with platforms such as Kumbh, IPL, Karare Strikers gaming, Amazon Prime – Inside Edge Season 2, Mughl-e-azam. In 2019, we also became the first and only FMCG brand to set a Guinness World Record at the Kumbh Mela 2019 by lighting the world’s largest diya as a symbol of good health. Within just 2 years of operation, we have managed to scale operations to reach a Rs 200 crore sales run rate by April 2019 – becoming the country’s fastest growing healthy snacking brand in India. Based on our success in India, we have also expanded distribution to International markets with Singapore, Australia, Dubai, Oman, Bangladesh and Nepal being some of the latest additions. From 5 variants and 15 flavours in the market, we aim to continue growing the healthy snacking market with the launch of newer variants and expansion to new markets. Our latest campaign focuses on the 4 hero flavors of Too Yumm! that are made to suit the India palate. Having established ourselves as a healthy snacking option, we want to introduce Too Yumm! in the kids market as well. So in totality, we have a lot of work and great plans in the pipeline for the brand. Q) How critical a role will your FMCG offerings play in RP <keyword id="6355523" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="sanjiv-goenka">Sanjiv Goenka</keyword> Group’s overall growth? FMCG is just in its third year from a start-up; and in the very large RPSG group it’s a rather late entrant and small contributor currently. However it’s one of the most disruptive initiatives within the group that has a large vision and ambition for FMCG play with a very strong focus for the future. Q) What’s your primary media mix? We have a healthy media mix but a larger share of our communication is through TV and digital platforms as that provides us with requisite width to reach and engage our consumers. Q) Going ahead, what will be your broad marketing strategy to grow the brand further and capture a bigger market share? Our marketing strategy is more or less the same to reach our target audience – to provide our consumers with healthy yet tasty options for guilt free bingeing.

But the big, fat, Indian wedding may have to wait with the government mulling over options to counter unlicensed drones in India's airspace. "We don't know which drone is rogue and which is good. We should have technology to counter it. Whether you go in for commercial or security purposes, the technology has to be such which can prevent the <keyword id="6039791" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="rogue-drones">rogue drones</keyword> in our country," Rakesh Asthaana, Director General, Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) said. "We have taken the live trials; second pilot has just been completed and we are in the process of finalising our reports which we will be submitting to the ministry soon," Asthaana shared. Before the <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/flying-drones-is-finally-legal-in-india/articleshow/65573434.cms">drone guidelines</a> were implemented in India, there were around 50,000 drones operating in its air space, according to a report by FICCI and E&amp;Y. Even though these drones were flying around, almost none of them meet the Civil Aviation Requirements (CAR) and aren't compliant with the no-permission no-take off (NPNT) mandate. So there's no way to stop them even if they're spotted flying against the law. Social 'rogue' drones It's not just weddings that are in question. The risk is greater when the event in question is on a bigger scale — like the Kumbh Mela were <a href="https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/allahabad/1-4-crore-people-take-dip-as-kumbh-mela-begins/articleshow/67543932.cms">140 million</a> people were taking a dip in the Ganga this year. At the same time, there was a <a href="https://www.indiatvnews.com/news/india-kumbh-mela-2019-isis-issues-threats-of-chemical-attack-ndrf-conducts-mock-drill-499659">terrorist threat</a> at large. A disruption from a 'rogue' drone at this time can potentially result in severe damage, according to the report. It also highlights that India more vulnerable to collateral damage because of its high population density of 411 persons per square kilometer. Drones, which can be controlled wirelessly, can be controlled from anywhere within a 13 square kilometer area — larger than an Indian city suburb. So, that makes tracking the person controlling the drone difficult to track down. Irresponsible 'rogue' drones The threat of drones isn't only to people on the ground but also to other vehicles that share the same air space. The International Air Transport Association (IATA) estimates that India's aviation industry will continue to grow at a rapid pace. As of March 2019, India had 103 operation airports with India planning to hit 190 to 200 airports by 2040. The increasing amount of aircraft means there more air traffic for drones to be wary of. Irresponsible or mistaken 'rogue' drones can increase the risk faced by flights. CAR can't stop 'rogue' drones The first official notice to ban the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in the Indian air force was issued back in 2014 by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). But, despite the notice it was difficult to actually enforce the ban. India's geographical vastness limits the ability of the government to monitor flights of these 50,000 'rogue' drones that aren't registered with the authorities. And, that's where counter unmanned aerial system (cUAS) technology comes in. Traditional methods like anti-aircraft radars don't generally pick up on drones because they have been designed to detect large metallic object that move fast. Drones, on the other hand, move slower and fly lower. The first step is normally to mandate no-fly zones, which is something the Indian government has already implemented with the green, amber and red zones. The NPNT process ensures that drones are automatically directed back to their home location before they actually enter a fly zone. But, a complete cUAS system has to be capable of detecting, tracking as well as intercepting drones. "If we can manufacture world class drones within the country, we can obviously manufacture world class <keyword id="7937097" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="counter-drone-measures">counter drone measures</keyword>. Otherwise what will happen is dependence on global market will continue for the anti-drone measures as it is for drones currently," shared Sanjay Jaju, Joint Secretary in the Department of Defence Production at the Ministry of Defence.

His strict order to the nation's 1.3 billion people to stay home brings the global number of people under some form of lockdown to around 2.6 billion - one-third of the human population, <a href="https://www.afp.com/en/news/15/one-third-humanity-under-virus-lockdown-doc-1q57be16">according to Agence France-Presse</a>. That's more humans than were even alive to witness World War II. The virus has infected <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/china-virus-everything-we-know-deadly-2019-ncov-wuhan-spread-2020-1?r=US&amp;IR=T">a reported 425,000, and killed 18,900 people</a>, with many more suspected to be infected but unconfirmed. The accuracy of reported infections varies hugely from country to country due to political complications and how widespread the country's testing policy is. But outside of those grim statistics, on the level of daily life, it has become difficult to quantify the sheer scale of the impact the coronavirus has had on the human population in the few short weeks since the earliest case emerged <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/coronavirus-patients-zero-contracted-case-november-2020-3?r=US&amp;IR=T">some time around mid-November 2019</a>.Global governments have reacted with varying forms of restriction that now affect roughly one in three of the human population and which affect everything from transport, commerce, social gatherings, and in many cases the ability to leave one's home at all. "Lockdown" is not a technical term, but is increasingly used to describe anything from a mandatory full quarantine, to non-mandatory recommendations halting businesses and events or telling people to stay home, as Lindsay Wiley, a health law professor at the Washington College of Law, <a href="https://www.vox.com/science-and-health/2020/3/10/21171464/coronavirus-us-lock-down-travel-restriction-italy">told Vox</a>.The numbers of people affected today dwarf even the largest-scaled events that come to mind. The two largest global conflicts in human history - the first and second world wars - were fought by a combined total of around 135 million, according to <a href="https://www.britannica.com/event/World-War-I/Killed-wounded-and-missing">Encyclopaedia</a> <a href="https://www.britannica.com/event/World-War-II">Britannica</a>.In 1940, the world population was 2.3 billion, <a href="https://www.census.gov/data/tables/time-series/demo/international-programs/historical-est-worldpop.html">according to the United States Census Bureau</a> - still less than the number of people under lockdown today. Other mass-scaled events, such as human migrations, also provide a poor metric by which to measure the current coronavirus impact.The combined estimated number of people traveling for the world's largest annual human migrations - Chinese New Year, Prayagraj Kumbh Mela in India, Thanksgiving in the US, and the Islamic pilgrimages of Arba'een and the Hajj - is 690.5 million, <a href="https://www.statista.com/chart/16906/holiday-travel-events/">according to Statista</a>. Those numbers, of course, were gathered before the Chinese government began to cancel New Year festivities in 2020 to stem the spread of the virus. One of the only comparable human events to affect people on this scale happens to be <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/1918-flu-pandemic-pictures-2012-8?r=US&amp;IR=T#the-symptoms-of-the-spanish-flu-were-particularly-frightening-beginning-with-the-ears-the-victims-face-would-begin-to-turn-blue-as-oxygen-was-deprived-a-bloody-liquid-would-begin-to-fill-the-victims-lungs-until-the-victim-would-suffocate-and-die-6">the 1918-19 Spanish Flu</a>. Though the situation is very different in epidemiological terms, one common point is the extent of its reach compared to the global population. The virus infected one-third of the population, which at this time was around 500 million. Today, perhaps this one-third of humanity under lockdown can at least be thankful the statistic doesn't refer to infections - yet.These are countries currently imposing some form of stay-at-home order, or business and events closure order, and how many people each involves*:<ul><li>Argentina, population 45.5 million: Citizens only allowed to leave homes for essential services, enforced by police, until March 31.</li><li>Australia, population 24.9 million: Non-essential businesses closed and parents given the option to keep children out of school. </li><li>Belgium, population 11.4 million: Citizens asked to stay home other than for essential services, with lockdown estimated to continue until at least mid-May.</li><li>China (Wuhan), population 11 million, <a href="http://www.xinhuanet.com/english/2019-03/26/c_137925106.htm">according to state media</a>: Citizens asked to stay home other than for essential services.
