In the midst of the coronavirus crisis, the BJP high command has made a big change in Delhi as party President <keyword id="2255589" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="J-P-Nadda">J.P. Nadda</keyword> removed Manoj Tiwari from the post of <keyword id="972508" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Delhi-BJP-president">Delhi BJP President</keyword> and has replaced him with <keyword id="2647910" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Aadesh-Kumar-Gupta">Aadesh Kumar Gupta</keyword>. An official letter has also been issued on behalf of the party by general secretary <keyword id="209846" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Arun-Singh">Arun Singh</keyword> in this regard. Apart from this, BJP has also replaced state party presidents in Chhattisgarh and <keyword id="6359754" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="manipur">Manipur</keyword>. In Chhattisgarh, veteran party leader Vishnudev Sai has been appointed president, while in Manipur, S. Tikendra Singh has been appointed as the new unit chief of the party. Significantly, Aadesh Kumar Gupta has been the Mayor of Delhi MCD whilw newly-appointed President of Chhattisgarh BJP, Vishnudev Sai has been a former Union minister.

New Delhi, Feb 12 () The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) on Wednesday elected Atul Kumar Gupta as its new president. Gupta was the vice-president. In a release, the institute said Nihar Niranjan Jambusaria has been elected as the new vice-president. They have been elected for 2020-21. Gupta joined the central council of the ICAI in 2013. He was in the council for two consecutive terms before getting elected as vice-president last year. RAM HRS

The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) has submitted its initial probe report on the Levana Suites hotel fire, recommending action against 22 engineers and zonal officers for allegedly conniving with the builder and turning a blind eye to illegal construction activity. The building now faces demolition since it was illegally constructed. The fire on Monday left four people dead, while seven others suffered burn injuries. The LDA has also lodged an FIR at the Hazratganj police station against <keyword id="14907942" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="mukesh-jasnani" source="Orion">Mukesh Jasnani</keyword> of M/S Bansal Construction and his partners for carrying out commercial activity of running a hotel on a residential plot. LDA Vice-Chairman Indramani Tripathi constituted the probe committee headed by the Authoritiy's Secretary <keyword id="3246340" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="pawan-kumar-gangwar" source="Orion">Pawan Kumar Gangwar</keyword> to fix accountability for the incident and the report was submitted late on Monday night. After the initial probe, the committee found engineers posted in 'Zone six' (which includes Hazratganj) since July 2, 2017 responsible for the incident. The 22 engineers/zonal officers indicted by the LDA inquiry team include executive engineers Arun Kumar Singh, O.P. Mishra (both retired), superintending engineers <keyword id="5155996" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="zahiruddin" source="Orion">Zahiruddin</keyword> and <keyword id="277708" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="kamaljeet-singh" source="Orion">Kamaljeet Singh</keyword>, assistant engineers O.P. New Delhi, Nov 22 () Markets regulator Sebi on Friday levied a fine totalling Rs 80 lakh on Aplaya Creations Ltd, three of its officials and two other entities for conducting fraudulent trading in the scrip of the firm.
 Officials of Aplaya Creations include Managing Director Ramawtar Gupta and Director and Chief Financial Officer Pramod Kumar Gupta.
 The order follows an investigation conducted between April 2014 and July 2015.
 Sebi during the investigation found that the firm had come out with preferential allotment and thereafter, the price of the scrip was artificially manipulated by Maheswari Financial Services Pvt Ltd and Vemuri Finvest Pvt Ltd by frequently putting sell orders over the last traded price.
 At a subsequent stage, the preferential allottees were provided exit at the manipulated price by the exit providers.
 "These acts of preferential allotment, price manipulation and subsequent providing of exit constitutes a scheme. The scheme has in effect resulted in benefit to the preferential allottees," as per the Sebi order.
 Sebi concluded that "the company had come out with preferential allotments and had devised a scheme to manipulate the price of the scrip to benefit the preferential allottees."
 While levying fine on the officials, Sebi said "every person who at the time the offence was committed was in charge of, and was responsible to, the company for the conduct of the business of the company, as well as the company, shall be deemed to be guilty of the offence."
 Consequently, a fine of Rs 15 lakh on Aplaya Creations, Rs 10 lakh each Ramawtar Gupta and Pramod Kumar Gupta, Rs 20 lakh on Maheswari Financial Services Pvt Ltd and Rs 25 lakh Vemuri Finvest Pvt Ltd was imposed by Sebi. SRS HRS

New Delhi, Feb 13 () Chartered accountants' apex body ICAI will set up a Sustainability Accounting Standards Board to help companies in achieving sustainable development goals.ICAI President Atul Kumar Gupta on Thursday said the board would be launched on Friday and discussions would be held with stakeholders to take the idea forward.With the proposed standards, there would be disclosure requirements for companies in terms of "sustainability part" or sustainable development goals of the United Nations.Gupta, who took over as the President on Wednesday, also said efforts are continuing to strengthen the institute's disciplinary mechanism, including faster disposal of disciplinary cases.The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has more than three lakh members. ICAI to set up Sustainability Accounting Standards Board

New Delhi, Dec 5 () Fair trade regulator CCI is mulling issuing a "soft advisory" to e-commerce platforms regarding self-regulation of various aspects of their business activities, including transparency over ranking and rating mechanisms.
 In May, the Competition Commission of India (CCI) started a study on e-commerce market and the findings would be released this month.
 CCI Chairperson Ashok Kumar Gupta has said that as a pre-emptive or precautionary measure, the regulator might issue a "soft advisory to e-commerce platforms to self-regulate certain aspects of their practices to foster trust and a predictable relationship with the business users so that full competitive potential of e-commerce can be harnessed".
 The aspects might include transparency over ranking, data, and review and rating mechanisms, Gupta said in a speech on December 4.
 "These are complex issues and gauging the net impact on competition may not be as simple and straightforward," he noted.
 According to Gupta, the study would allow the regulator to further incorporate the feedback in "our final advisory such that practices of e-commerce platforms promote competition and consumer welfare".

Competition Comm mulls issuing 'soft advisory' to e-commerce platforms

New Delhi, Mar 18 () Chartered accountants' apex body ICAI will be issuing an advisory to auditors on how to deal with the coronavirus pandemic impact, mainly on auditing work. The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has already started work on the advisory, which would be submitted to the corporate affairs ministry, according to the institute's President Atul Kumar Gupta. "We are developing a document for corporates as well as auditors in the form of an advisory... It will be released before March 31," he told . The current financial year (2019-20) ends on March 31. "It will be an advisory for auditors and companies on how to deal with the impact of the coronavirus outbreak," Gupta said. According to him, banks close their accounts on March 31 and generally bank branch audits are to be completed by April 10. In the wake of the coronavirus outbreak, the date for such audits has now been set at April 20. "All of us have to wait and watch on the impact of the coronavirus," Gupta said. When asked whether the ICAI would look at seeking more time for carrying out statutory audits of companies in the current situation, he said there is no need to worry about it since statutory audits are to be completed in six months from the end of a financial year. More than 150 people in the country have been infected by the coronavirus and various sectors have been substantially impacted so far. RAM ABM
