The year 2022 saw the Telugu film industry losing some of its biggest stars. The deaths of superstar Krishna and 'rebel star' <keyword id="239827" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="krishnam-raju" source="Orion">Krishnam Raju</keyword> came as big blows to <keyword id="6354765" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="tollywood" source="Orion">Tollywood</keyword>, and the end of the year brought the news of the passing of veteran actors Kaikala Satyanarayana and <keyword id="306306" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="chalapathi-rao" source="Orion">Chalapathi Rao</keyword>. The year began on a tragic note with the death of actor-producer <keyword id="207378" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="ramesh-babu" source="Orion">Ramesh Babu</keyword>, elder brother of popular actor Mahesh Babu, in January. Ramesh Babu was known for films such as Bazaar Rowdy, Mugguru Kodukulu and others. After his retirement from acting in 1997, he had become a producer. April saw the death of three veteran Tollywood personalities. Director Sarath passed away at the age of 74 after battling cancer. Sarath, who made his directorial debut in 1986 with Chadastapu Mogudu, made over 20 films in his career. He predominantly worked with actors Nandamuri Balakrishna and Suman. While he delivered superhits such as Vamshanikokkadu, Sulthan, Peddannayya, and Vamshoddharakudu, he directed Suman in films Bava Bavamaridi, Peddinti Alludu, and Chinna Alludu. The same month, veteran actor M. Balayya passed away at the age of 94. He had acted in more than 300 films and was popular for playing the role of the elderly and other important roles in several super hit movies. Veteran director Tatineni Rama Rao's death came as another loss to Tollywood. He passed away in Chennai at the age of 84. He started his career in the film industry as an assistant director and made his directorial debut with Navarathri (1966), starring Akkineni Nageswara Rao and Savitri in the lead roles. He directed more than 65 films in Telugu and Hindi. He directed blockbusters such as Brahmachari (1966), Manchi Mitrulu (1969), Jeevana Tarangalu (1973), Dorababu (1974), Yamagola (1977), Anuraga Devatha (1982) and Pachchani Kapuram (1985). In September, Tollywood lost legendary actor U. V. Krishnam Raju. He passed away at the age of 83. Known as the 'rebel star' of Telugu cinema, he was the uncle of popular actor Prabhas. In a career spanning 50 years, Krishnam Raju acted in more than 180 films. He was also a recipient of five Filmfare south awards as well as three Nandi awards. His most famous works include Jeevana Tarangalu, Krishnaveni, and Bhakta Kannappa among others. Raju served as the Union Minister of state in various ministries in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee-led NDA government between 2000 and 2002. He was elected to the Kakinada and Narasapuram constituencies in the 12th and 13th <keyword id="6355187" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="lok-sabha" source="Orion">Lok Sabha</keyword> on a BJP ticket. In November, Tollywood suffered a huge loss with the death of legendary actor Krishna. He died of cardiac arrest at the age of 79. Ghattamaneni Siva Rama Krishna Murthy or Superstar Krishna, as he was popularly known, acted in more than 350 films in a career spanning five decades. He also produced and directed a few films. Father of actor Mahesh Babu, Krishna was credited with introducing many new trends in Tollywood. He is known for many landmark movies like 'Alluri Seetharama Raju', which was the first cinemascope movie in Tollywood, 'Eenadu' (1982), the first Eastman colour film and 'Simhasanam' (1986), the first 70 mm film. The superstar founded Padmalaya Studio in 1970 and produced some highly successful movies. The superstar was reported to be depressed since the death of his wife Indira Devi in September. Early this year, he lost his elder son Ramesh Babu. Considered close to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, Krishna joined the Congress party in 1984. He was elected to Lok Sabha from Eluru in 1989 but lost the election in 1991 from the same constituency. After Rajiv Gandhi's assassination, Krishna distanced himself from politics He received several awards including NTR national award in 2003. In 2009, he was honoured with the Padma Bhushan for his contributions to Indian cinema. The last month of the year saw Tollywood losing two more veteran actors. Kaikala Satyanarayana passed away on December 23 at the age of 87. Known for his roles as a villain and character artist, he acted in over 750 films. In a career spanning 60 years, he worked with over 200 directors. A close friend of former Chief Minister N. T. Rama Rao, he was elected to Lok Sabha from Machilipatnam in 1996 on the ticket of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). He later quit politics. Even before Tollywood could recover from this shock, another veteran actor Tammareddy Chalapathi Rao passed away on December 25. He died of cardiac arrest at the age of 78. Known for his comic and villainous roles, he acted with three generations of top stars in a career spanning over five decades. He acted in more than 600 films. Chalapathi Rao made his debut in 1966 with 'Ghodachari 116'. He acted in supporting roles with leading actors like N. T. Rama Rao, Krishna, Nagarjuna, Chiranjeevi and Venkatesh. He also produced a few films. As the year ends, Tollywood mourns the loss of legends like Krishna, Krishnam Raju and more

It has filed its draft red herring prospectus (DRHP) with market regulator SEBI to raise funds through an IPO. As per the DRHP, the company plans to raise ₹400 crore from fresh issue of equity shares, and will sell up to 4.68 crore equity shares via an offer for sale (OFS), wherein promoters and shareholders will sell their stake. The shareholders who will sell stake in the company include co-founders of Mamaearth Varun and Ghazal Alagh; Snapdeal founder Kunal Bahl, Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty Kundra, Sofina Ventures SA, Evolvence, Fireside Ventures, Stellaris Venture Partners among others. The company intends to utilize net proceeds from the IPO towards advertisement expenses to enhance the awareness and visibility of its brands, capital expenditure for setting up new exclusive brand outlets (EBOs), and investment in its subsidiary, BBlunt for setting up new salons. Ghazal Alagh was also a judge on Shark Tank India Season 1, a reality show where entrepreneurs pitch ideas for a business or product to raise money from judges. The unicorn heads for an IPO The company received its unicorn status in January 2022, and was one of the first to achieve the $1 billion valuation for the calendar year. After launching Mamaearth in 2016, the company has added five new brands to its portfolio, namely The Derma Co., Aqualogica, Ayuga, BBlunt and Dr Sheth’s. Its portfolio now includes products across baby care, face care, body care, hair care, colour cosmetics and fragrances. The company has set up a dedicated in-house start-up team called ‘Brand Factory’ that works with founders for end-to-end ideation, incubation and execution of new brands. Further, the company has to constantly follow up on changing consumer preferences, spending patterns, changing beauty and personal care trends to grow in the direct-to-consumer space. The company faces various forms of unfair trade practices, such as the sale of counterfeit, cloned, lookalike and pass-off products. “In the past, we have experienced incidents of passing-off and the sale of counterfeit products. The sale of counterfeit, cloned and pass-off products may result in heightened public reputation risk for us along with possibility of legal and regulatory claims,” said the company. Reliance on celebrities and social media influencers as part of its marketing strategy may adversely affect its business and demand for services, says the company in its DRHP. “We face intense competition which may lead to a reduction in our market share, cause us to increase our expenditure on marketing and promotion as well as cause us to offer discounts, which may result in an adverse effect on our business and a decline in our profitability,” said the company. Shilpa Shetty, Kunal Bahl, promoters to sell stake as Mamaearth parent goes in for an IPO

Election 2019: YSR congress candidate list for Andhra Pradesh

HYDERABAD: The TDP-BJP alliance in Andhra Pradesh, finalized after several twists and turns, is on the verge of collapse, with Chandrababu Naidu seeking the return of four assembly seats allotted to the right-wing party in Seemandhra. Naidu is also learnt to have initiated a telephonic survey with the party cadre seeking their opinion on whether or not to continue with the alliance. 
 These developments followed a controversy over the Rajampet and Narsapur <keyword id="6355187" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="40" keywordseo="Lok-Sabha">Lok Sabha</keyword> seats that have gone to the <keyword id="14666" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="BJP">BJP</keyword> as part of the alliance arrangement. The TDP boss is miffed that the BJP nominated his estranged sister-in-law Purandeswari from Rajampet — which is YSR <keyword id="1575" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="Congress">Congress</keyword> chief Jaganmohan Reddy’s territory. Purandeswari, sources said, was bound to lose from there, but Naidu did not want her to be given any ticket, even a losing one. 
 
Naidu is also upset the BJP has not named “his nominee” Raghu Ram Krishnam Raju from the Narasapur seat. Naidu had promised Raju, a businessman who joined BJP recently after quitting YSR Congress, that he would swing a saffron party ticket for him from this seat. Armed with this promise, Raju was campaigning among voters when he realized the BJP had nominated a VHP man for this seat. 
 Raju, after talks with Naidu, filled three nominations from the seat on Thursday: one each in the name of TDP, BJP and as an independent. Raju does not have a BJP ‘B’ form given to official nominees but is confident of bagging it because of his supposed closeness to party president <keyword id="6355121" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Rajnath-Singh">Rajnath Singh</keyword>. 
 
With the alliance threatening to fall apart, Naidu on Thursday originally planned to cut short his campaigning and return to Hyderabad by night. Naidu also pressed on Rajnath to surrender the four assembly seats in Seemandhra where, according to him, the BJP has fielded “weak” candidates. 
 
The seats are Nellore Rural, Tadepalligudem, Santhananuthalapadu and Rajahmundry Urban. In three of the four seats, rebel TDP candidates filed their nominations on Thursday. Naidu’s men also filed nominations in Paderu, Ichhapuram, Kaikalur, Tadepalligudem, Madanapalle, Kadapa, Araku and Rajole which were actually given to the BJP as part of the seat sharing. 
 Now, Naidu is demanding that these four assembly seats be given back to the TDP so that it can field strong candidates on Saturday, the last day for filing the nominations. No nominations will be accepted on Good Friday as it’s a holiday. In return for the four assembly seats, the <keyword id="58641" type="POSITION" weightage="40" keywordseo="TDP-chief">TDP chief</keyword> is willing to give the BJP two more MLC nominations. As per the original agreed seat-sharing agreement for Seemandhra, the right-wing party was to get 14 assembly seats, four Lok Sabha seats and two MLC nominations. 
 
BJP representatives said they were fed up with Naidu’s tantrums. They also said Naidu is angry because Modi refused to share the dais with him during his election campaign in Andhra Pradesh. But they said Modi is also uneasy with the “Modi for PM and Naidu for CM” slogans raised by TDP. 
 
However, political analysts said Naidu, out of power for 10 years, is under pressure from his cadres to deliver. In his anxiety to win, he had also nominated many money bags and late entrants from the Congress leading to disenchantment among the cadres.
