What has remained constant in actor <keyword id="39062" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="kalki-koechlin" source="Orion">Kalki Koechlin</keyword>'s trajectory is her ability to zero in on scripts that promise to give her enough room to deliver. "Choosing a script... Well, I think it lies more in the gut than in the mind. Something excites my curiosity. Having said that, sometimes I do agree to go ahead because it is good for the commercial viewership or I need the work," she tells IANS. Born in Pondicherry to French parents, <keyword id="701037" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="koechlin" source="Orion">Koechlin</keyword>, who spent a significant part of her childhood in Auroville and studied drama and theatre at Goldsmiths, University of London, will soon be seen in <keyword id="1292176" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="pushan-kripalani" source="Orion">Pushan Kripalani</keyword>'s 'Goldfish' that will have its World Premiere at the 27th Busan International Film Festival. Stressing that she loved <keyword id="13998" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="kripalani" source="Orion">Kripalani</keyword>'s debut film 'Threshold' and wanted to work with him since, the actor adds, "This script was just powerful and profound, there was just no question of not doing it. I needed to have an English accent: Occam. That was largely my prep and many readings over zoom as we were surrounded by the Pandemic's second wave. Pushan did his own camera work and often ran two cameras at the same time for the length of the entire scene. I loved that process, we could react so truthfully and spontaneously." Koechlin, who co-wrote the drama 'Skeleton Woman', which won her The MetroPlus Playwright Award, and made her directorial debut on stage with the tragicomedy 'Living Room' smiles when asked if she still felt like an 'outsider'. "I feel like an actor. And there is no space big enough to hold all our dramatic endeavours." The National-award winning actor feels that while OTT has ascertained much employment and a chance for talent to shine, good content, whether it be in film or OTT is still hard to come by. "If I have anything to crib about, it is that there is too much content to read, and since I always insist on reading the entire thing not just a synopsis, it can get exhausting when the content is not great." Koechlin, who recently wrote the book 'The Elephant in the <keyword id="61809" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="womb" source="Orion">Womb</keyword>', which, among other things talks about the social stigma of abortions and unmarried pregnancies, the toll that pregnancy takes on a body and the unacknowledged domestic labour of women, may not have any plans to write another book soon, but she has surely has learnt how to deal with commentary on her personal life. "Mostly I ignore. Also, I have accepted that as part of the job. If I need privacy, I just switch off my phone." Recalling the lockdown days, she says they were hard. "And I happened to have just given birth. It was a lonely time, and the news was so grim I was afraid to get connected with the outside world. The whole period was an emotional grind, but writing 'The Elephant in the Womb gave me some respite. I was so grateful to have a little part of me still creating, it gave me some routine to the endless feeling of those days." The actor, who just shot for 'Kho Gaye Hum Kahan' is now working on the third season of her podcast with the BBC 'My Indian Life'. "I am really hungry to do more theatre. I have not gotten there yet, with the mum and work balance, but hopefully soon," she signs off. Be it film or OTT, good content is hard to come by says Kalki Koechlin

The latest <keyword id="30679" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="horror-flick">horror flick</keyword> from the <keyword id="143" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Bollywood">Bollywood</keyword> stable has all the right credentials, but lacks just one thing. In spite of being loaded with scary clichés, it fails to scare the daylights out of you as <keyword id="500381" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Ragini-MMS">Ragini MMS</keyword> did two years ago. After all, Jimmy Shergill-starrer <keyword id="1976250" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Darr-The-Mall">Darr @ the Mall</keyword> has been made by Ragini MMS director <keyword id="2076858" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Pavan-Kripalani">Pavan Kripalani</keyword> (the 2011 movie was his directorial debut) and expectations were high on that score. Moreover, a sequel of Ragini MMS (directed by <keyword id="820957" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Bhushan-Patel">Bhushan Patel</keyword> this time) will be hitting the theatres next month and we were wondering if the ‘mall horror’ can give it a run for its money. But going by the <keyword id="25892" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="box-office">box office</keyword> response, Darr @ the Mall has plenty to worry about and offers very little to scare competitions. 
 Released on February 21, along with <keyword id="2075818" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Randeep-Hooda-Alia-Bhatt-starrer">Randeep Hooda-Alia Bhatt starrer</keyword> <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/entertainment/movies/Highway-ExploresShadow-Zones-But-Fails-To-Impress-At-Box-Office/articleshow/31008054.cms">Highway</a>, Bollywood drama Dee Saturday Night and a documentary called <keyword id="6391288" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="100" keywordseo="Gulabi-Gang">Gulabi Gang</keyword> (not to be confused with the Madhuri Dixit-Juhi Chawla-starrer, to be released soon), Darr @ the Mall has its task cut out. But the <keyword id="2076867" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Horror-thriller">horror-thriller</keyword>, which tells the story of a mall that unleashes its evil side on the people trapped in it, has been a <keyword id="2076872" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Box-office-bomb">box office bomb</keyword> from the start. Although it has hit more than 1,100 screens, the occupancy rate was really low – around 20% in the first three days and just 15% on the crucial Day 4. According to Box office India, the horror-thriller has netted around Rs 3-3.25 crore in the domestic market after the opening weekend. Day 4 (Monday, February 24) collections were a dismal Rs 25 lakh, as per some insiders, and that sets the tone for the rest of the week. 
 The story is a kind of hotchpotch and that might have been its undoing. Here, we have three distinct fragments that should form the thrilling whole but these are not tightly interwoven and seem to be falling apart at times. First, we have <keyword id="6747" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Manchanda">Manchanda</keyword>, the mall owner, and his board of directors spending the night at the haunted mall (as part of a publicity stunt) before the gala opening; next, we find his daughter <keyword id="510679" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Ahana">Ahana</keyword> (<keyword id="647029" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="nushrat-bharucha">Nushrat Bharucha</keyword>) and her junky friends partying inside; and finally, there is <keyword id="4666" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Jimmy-Shergill">Jimmy Shergill</keyword> or the 24-year-old <keyword id="274961" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Vishnu-Sharma">Vishnu Sharma</keyword>, the chief of security at the mall, who flashes around his flashlight to track the evil spirits. The pieces of the puzzle lie in unravelling the past that comes alive in the spine-chilling night. But if you ask us, the fear factors are pretty predictable and won’t get you too many goosebumps. 
 
Dee Saturday Night: Repetitive without the grace The other release of the week is directed by <keyword id="513190" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Jay-Prakash">Jay Prakash</keyword> and features the story of Mumbai gone bad as the city’s Richie Riches fervently indulge in drug, sex and crime (in case you can’t guess, Dee stands for <keyword id="2076881" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Dirty-English-Entertainment">Dirty English Entertainment</keyword>, the culture of rich Mumbaikars). Well, if the theme reminds you of Madhur Bhandarkar’s Page 3, let’s tell you about the eye candies and moral candies thrown in generous measures to keep you engaged. 
 To cut a long story short, here you will find too many skimpily clad <keyword id="624" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Women">women</keyword> engaged in all things immoral while a determined <keyword id="1119548" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="ACP-Dhoble">ACP Dhoble</keyword> (<keyword id="177770" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Arif-Zakaria">Arif Zakaria</keyword>) raids the vicious rave parties, catches the miscreants and subjects them to inspiring lectures and moral lessons. Then there is the quintessential small town girl (<keyword id="2054328" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="mahi-khanduri">Mahi Khanduri</keyword>) who is trying to hold on to her traditional values. The movie promotes good causes and teaches you some sound principles at the cost of the art called cinema. And the outcome? It’s a complete washout at the box office, not even touching Rs 10 lakh, as per Box office India. 
 
 
 
Gulabi Gang (documentary) This one has negligible <keyword id="1839596" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="box-office-collections">box office collections</keyword> but the award-winning docu film, co-written and directed by <keyword id="1488228" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Nishtha-Jain">Nishtha Jain</keyword>, is based on the real-life <keyword id="2076888" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Gulabi-Gang-of-Bundelkhand">Gulabi Gang of Bundelkhand</keyword> (Uttar Pradesh). The group of lathi-wielding women vigilantes and activists was set up by <keyword id="1408081" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Sampat-Pal-Devi">Sampat Pal Devi</keyword> in a bid to fight against domestic abuse and violence against women. Unlike other drab documentaries, Jain has managed to create an insightful human document that pits personal practice against ideology and exposes the shortcoming inherent in us. 
 Mohar Basu of KoiMoi sums it up beautifully when she writes: Jain carries me with her daunting <keyword id="6374782" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="journey">journey</keyword> that I will hold on to for many years probably. The instances were revolting, the tall talks about women’s morality a sham and despite the distressing situations, Gulabi Gang is a ray of hope, brimming with optimism to change the stringent attitudes with galvanising ferociousness. 
 
It could be the journey <keyword id="6354768" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Highway">Highway</keyword> has missed – a journey of revelation, realisation and an ecstatic upliftment of your inner self.

Night Disappoint; Nishtha Jain’s Gulabi Gang Is Must-watch

<keyword id="19894922" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Uttar-Pradesh" source="keywords">Uttar Pradesh</keyword> has strong and established women leaders but, ironically, the majority of this '<keyword id="19911646" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Nari-Shakti" source="keywords">Nari Shakti</keyword>' does not belong to this state. Barring a few, most of the women leaders have come from other states and after contesting several elections, they have consolidated their position in Uttar Pradesh. Senior Congress leader <keyword id="19935990" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Sonia-Gandhi" source="keywords">Sonia Gandhi</keyword> leads the brigade of political talent imported from outside Uttar Pradesh. A native of Italy who was living in New Delhi with her in-laws, the Gandhi bahu made her political debut from Amethi in 1999 and then contested and won the Rae Bareli seat from 2004 to 2019. Sonia Gandhi began campaigning in Amethi from 1984 when her husband Rajiv Gandhi made his political debut. When Sonia Gandhi finally took a plunge in politics after the former Prime Minister's demise, she chose the family turf, Amethi. The former Congress President was at one time seen as a prime ministerial candidate, though she never claimed the position. Another woman politician who was seen as a prospective prime ministerial candidate is BSP supremo, <keyword id="19897516" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Mayawati" source="keywords">Mayawati</keyword>. Mayawati was born in Delhi but her political 'karambhoomi' became Uttar Pradesh when the first SP-BSP government came into existence in 1993 in the state. Circumstances propelled Mayawati into the Uttar Pradesh chief minister's chair in 1995 and over the years, she has emerged as a politician who cannot be ignored. Actor-turned-politician, <keyword id="19968072" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Hema-Malini" source="keywords">Hema Malini</keyword>, who is seeking her third term from Mathura, belongs to Tamil Nadu and has spent most of her life in Mumbai. She contested and won the 2014 and 2019 elections from Mathura. Hema Malini calls herself 'Krishna ki gopi' and claims to have a divine connect with Mathura. Among others in this list is Smriti Irani, who is seeking her second term from Amethi and originally belongs to Delhi. However, after winning Amethi in 2019, she calls herself 'Amethi ki bitiya'. She has even built her home in Gauriganj in Amethi and is well versed with local politics and the local people. Maneka Gandhi, who originally belongs to Delhi, is the senior-most MP among these women, having won her first election in 1989 on a Janata Dal ticket. She later joined the BJP and has always chosen Uttar Pradesh to contest elections - first Pilibhit and then Sultanpur. Jaya Prada, another actor-turned-politician, was born in Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh but chose Uttar Pradesh to kickstart her political career even though she had earlier joined the TDP. Jaya Prada successfully contested the Rampur Lok Sabha seat in 2004 and 2009 elections on a Samajwadi Party ticket. Later, she joined the BJP in 2019. Dimple Yadav, senior SP leader and wife of Akhilesh Yadav, originally belongs to Uttarakhand but made Uttar Pradesh her home after her marriage to Akhilesh. Dimple Yadav began her career by losing a bypoll to Raj Babbar of the Congress from Firozabad in 2009 but won the Kannauj seat in a 2012 bye-election. She won the Kannauj seat in 2014 but lost in 2019. However, Dimple Yadav won the Mainpuri bye-election after the demise of Mulayam Singh Yadav in 2022. Among all these women leaders, it is only Union Minister Anupriya Patel of Apna Dal (S) who was born and brought up in Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh. Interestingly, even in the past, several women leaders who made a mark in Indian politics were born outside Uttar Pradesh but chose to contest polls from the state. Former Lok Sabha Speaker, Meira Kumar, made her debut in politics when she won a bye-election from Bijnor in 1985. Meira Kumar, who is the daughter of late veteran politician Jagjivan Ram, was born in Bihar. Former Delhi Chief Minister, late Sheila Dikshit, won her first election from Kannauj in 1984. She was born in Kapurthala in Punjab. Freedom fighter Sucheta Kripalani, the first woman Chief Minister in India, who headed the Uttar Pradesh government, also belonged to Punjab but won the Assembly polls from Mehdawal in Sant Kabir Nagar. --IANS amita/rad

Duca also said that because of this false sense of security a lot of people have found themselves falling prey to data breaches that accidentally expose information. So, for organizations it becomes important to have accurate visibility of their services, their configuration settings, and be alert to malicious or accidental changes that could leave data vulnerable. “Public cloud providers will ensure the security of cloud, the physical security at the data center, and separation of customer data and environments. But anything you run, or store in the cloud is the responsibility of the organization to secure. If you leave database ports open to the public internet, or allow public access to data storage services, then that’s on you,” said Sunil Sharma, managing director sales, Sophos India &amp; SAARC. Misconfiguration is the most common reason for data breach A recent survey by Sophos, ‘Exposed: Cyberattacks on Cloud Honeypots’, revealed that cloud servers in Mumbai were subjected to 13 attempted attacks per minute, per instance. And experts say more often than not, there is a simple reason for these breaches – misconfiguration. “Cloud is as secured as you configure it to be. Clouds are secure, but organizations are often not using them securely. Misconfiguration has been the most common reason behind a cloud data breach,” said Prateek Bhajanka, Sr Principal Analyst, Gartner. He added that just having bought cloud storage will not solve all the problems but an organization should also understand how to keep it configured in a secured manner throughout its lifecycle. Secure your data on cloud Organizations have to take active measures to secure their data even after it is transferred to the cloud. These measures come in over and above the security standards offered by the <keyword id="2422175" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="cloud-service-provider">cloud service provider</keyword>. “For example, organizations can implement different levels of security solutions for data protection based on regulatory mandates, business criticality and scenarios such as whether data is at rest or in transit,” said Neelesh Kripalani, Sr. VP and Head – Center of Excellence (CoE), Clover Infotech. Kripalani added that mandatory security levels are provided by global Cloud service providers such as AWS, Microsoft, Google and Oracle. However, depending on the criticality of applications and business needs, organisations may choose to additionally secure their applications data on the cloud by adding multiple security layers.

Shatrughan Sinha and Poonam Sinha are Bollywood stars of a bygone era, with over 300 films to their credit according to IMDB. In the ongoing Parliamentary elections, they represent two rival parties, the Indian National Congress and the Samajwadi Party (SP) respectively. The two parties are fighting each other in one of the country's most crucial states, Uttar Pradesh. Both parties tried to stitch a coalition to beat the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi but the plans have not come to fruition yet. But that hasn't stopped the actors-turned-politicians from campaigning for each other. Congress leader Shatrughan Sinha had <a href="https://www.ndtv.com/india-news/shatrughan-sinha-defends-backing-wife-at-samajwadi-rally-says-it-was-his-duty-as-a-husband-2026047" data-type="tilCustomLink" target="_blank">campaigned for his wife in Lucknow</a>. His wife, Poonam, is going against a local heavyweight, and a national BJP stalwart past his prime, Rajnath Singh, who is also the serving union minister for Home Affairs. Confused much? The protagonists are not. Shatrughan Sinha, the Parliamentarian from Patna Sahib constituency in Bihar for the last ten years, left the BJP after the party decided to dump and nominate union minister for law and information technology, Ravi Shankar Prasad, from the seat. So he broke up from the party, which he was part of for 27 years, and joined the Congress at the behest of the Rashtriya Janata Dal, founded by Laloo Prasad Yadav, which is in alliance with Congress in another state, Bihar. Now, read the story again a few times. A whiteboard and a marker may come in handy in explaining the musical chairs that the Indian election can be, at times. Most often than not, both parties and candidates put the ability to win a seat ahead of ideology and, even, conflict of interest. Players in the IT sector have welcomed the move and are also of the view that their business strategy would also need to be changed in the current scenario. In a digital first world where cyber attacks and breaches are common, this bill is a first step in answering the question -- who has access to my data? The draft bill was released in 2018 requires global companies to store their data locally. It also asked businesses to seek user consent before taking their data by explicitly citing the reasons for use. However, it also said that “the State is not required to seek the individual’s consent while providing benefits or services”. The bill has been a point of contention since it was released as corporates would have to restructure the way they work. In spite of the many pain points, experts believe that the bill is the need of the hour.. “Our research showed that 63% of Indian businesses are concerned about being exposed to cyber threats due to employee error. The bill comes at a time when data breaches have cost Indian firms dearly and IT managers having to deal with cyberattacks coming from all directions, that too with a limited budget, outdated technology and a dearth of security expertise,” said Sunil Sharma, managing director sales, Sophos India &amp; SAARC. The bill dictates that personal data that is collected must be processed only for purposes that are clear, specific and lawful - and that makes it a powerful law. “As per the new Data Security Council of India (DSCI) report, India has been the second most cyber-attacks affected country from 2016 to 2018. With this law, we hope to see that corporates will use the personal data of citizens in a responsible, fair and reasonable manner that respects the privacy of the data principal,” said Neelesh Kripalani, Sr. VP and Head – Center of Excellence (CoE), Clover Infotech. The bill also plans to levy heavy penalties for those who violate the norms. Entities which violate sensitive data are liable for a penalty of up to ₹15 crore or 4% of the total worldwide turnover, whichever is more. If non-sensitive personal data safeguard terms are violated, then the penalty will be up to ₹5 crore or 2% of the annual turnover, whichever is more. The bill also puts the user first. “Till now we needed to accept the company’s terms and conditions, where the company used to only state about the usage of the data. But with this bill now it will be mandatory for companies to explain, how the data will be processed or used by them which will make the data handling a transparent process. With this protection bill we will have full self-control of the data,” said Prathamesh Sonsurkar - Cyber security expert &amp; Ethical Hacker. Personal data protection bill puts user first and has heavy penalties – cyber experts are happy about it

Telecom service provider Vodafone today said it has partnered with Amazon Prime Video India to enable its customers access large selection of Bollywood, Hollywood, regional movies, US TV shows, kids' programming and global Amazon originals, according to PTI. 
 
"The entertainment consumption patterns of customers are rapidly changing. They want more freedom and flexibility in the way they consume content. 
 
"This partnership with Amazon Prime Video does just that, further strengthening our content proposition and reiterating our commitment to offering the best to our customers along with unique privileges," Vodafone India Director - Commercial Sandeep Kataria said in a statement. 
 
Vodafone is the first telecom player to partner with Amazon Prime Video India and its consumers can enjoy Amazon Prime with a special offer on Vodafone SuperNet 4G network starting March 22, the release said. 
 
After subscribing to Amazon Prime via MyVodafone app or Vodafone Website for an annual introductory subscription price of Rs 499, Vodafone customers will get Rs 250 cashback as their Amazon Pay Balance, it said, adding, that the offer is currently available only for telecom operator's customers using Android devices. 
 
Commenting on the tie-up, Amazon Prime Video India Director and Country Head Nitesh Kripalani said, "We are delighted to partner with Vodafone India to bring this unique offer first to Vodafone customers. 
 
"At Amazon Prime Video, our focus is on offering latest and exclusive movies and TV shows to customers on a reliable service, with great playback quality and low data usage. 
 
"This offer further extends our promise of delivering convenient, on-demand access to our large content selection to our customers."

So far, Amazon has raked in nearly Rs 500 crore to create original content in India, spending more than what India’s most high-profile production houses such as Hotstar, Eros Now, Voot, etc invest. 
 <keyword id="2976376" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Amazon-Prime-Video">Amazon Prime Video</keyword> has invested about one-fourth of its Rs 2,000-crore India budget in local production houses. 
 
While Balaji Telefilm’s ALT's budget for 2017 is about Rs 120 crore, the other providers have allocations under Rs 400 crore each, ET quoted analysts. 
 Amazon's aggressive bid will take it a level up from <keyword id="128682" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Netflix">Netflix</keyword>. 
 
"Amazon Prime is definitely giving the best monetary benefits to many of us creatives. Netflix is also paying but there are fewer deals happening where they are concerned,” a film director working with multiple production houses told ET. 
 
ET reported Amazon Prime Video is estimated to have paid Rs 40 crore to Akhtar and his business partner Ritesh Sidhwani's production house Excel Media and Entertainment. 
 
"We are looking at diverse genres. In the long term, our original content will build our brand in India,” said Nitesh Kripalani, country head of Amazon Video India. Told ET, adding “Our aim is to launch our first India original show by the end of March or early April.” 
 
“Domestic video streaming services will have the appetite to sustain losses for two to three years, after which the bosses will start asking budget questions and then you will see a shakeout,” Jehil Thakkar, media and entertainment head at KPMG, told ET.

Amazon is outspending to become number one in digital content race in India

In November 2013, he got Tuhin Jain, an ex-Pepsi executive on board as the company’s COO. It was only in 2014 that the duo decided to test out the market and launched with two flavours. Today, they house 12 flavours. 
 
Needless to say, they were a big hit. Bonhomia soon became not only a category leader, when it came to premium single-serve coffee capsules, but also a category creator. 
 
Elaborating on the reason behind the success, Bhagat makes an interesting analogy. “Single serve consumption has done to coffee what internet has done to the world,” he says. 
 
What more, they have also brought to India the Nespresso-type experience of capsule beverages with individual coffee machines which are available on their website. 
 
 
 
 
“Bonhomia has redefined coffee consumption in India and our figures show that the trend is here to stay. We were the first people to launch single served capsules in the country. What’s special about our Indian angle is that the entire product portfolio is India sourced. All our coffees and teas are 100 pc Indian origins since India is the world largest producer of coffee and tea combined. Another Indian angle is that all our products are manufactured here locally in New Delhi, using state-of-art machinery and technology,” Bhagat further reiterates. 
 
Apart from measuring success in the form of an ever-increasing base of customers hungry for their products, the duo have also managed to raise USD 2 million in two tranches last year from a group of super angels including Kanwaljit Singh, Shripad Nadkarni, Apurva Salarpuria, Ashok Dhingra, Nita Mirchandani, Sarvesh Sahara , Ramrod Advisors, Gidwani family, Tolmolbol and Nitesh Kripalani. 
 
Bonhomia’s target audience, according to Jain are both, the older well-travelled consumers and also the younger generation who can’t do without their daily dose of coffee and will pay for quality coffee. 
 
At the moment, Bonhomia’s distribution presence has expanded to all major cities in the country and their capsules and brewing machines are widely available across outlets, such as Croma, Foodhall, Hypercity &amp; Nature’s Basket.

The world's largest online retailer, <keyword id="18635" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Amazon">Amazon</keyword> will make India its biggest market outside the US and add instant video and subscription-based eCommerce services for high-end buyers in the country later this year, reported the Economic Times. 

	According to two people who are familiar with the company's decision, the eCommerce giant is readying a $5-billion war chest to grow India into its biggest market. 
 Amazon will invest most of the additional Rs 31,700 crore — a year ago, it committed to invest $2 billion in its India operations — in expanding its network of warehouses and data centres and beefing up its online marketplace to give tough fight to companies such as <keyword id="6354742" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Flipkart">Flipkart</keyword>, <keyword id="541988" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="SnapDeal">Snapdeal</keyword> and <keyword id="6357120" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="PayTM">Paytm</keyword>, the people aware of its plans said. 

	The company turned 20 last week, and has completed two years in India, where its business is now worth at least $2 billion in gross merchandise value on the eCommerce side, and includes fast-growing revenue from top Amazon Web Services (AWS) customers in the country. 
 A person aware of the company’s plan said: "Our biggest financial backer (Amazon founder <keyword id="191583" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Jeff-Bezos">Jeff Bezos</keyword>) doesn't need a fresh pitch while deciding every new investment — we are really long on India, investment figures are easily in multiples of billion dollars." 

	The eCommerce firm wants to start its ambitious Amazon Instant Video (AIV) service in India this year and has started conversations with music labels and producers for sourcing content. In December, it hired Nitesh Kripalani, a former Sony Entertainment executive, to lead its new initiatives. 
 For India's three biggest eCommerce firms — Flipkart, Snapdeal and Paytm — Amazon's fresh investments and aggressive new launches will result in cutthroat rivalry and pile pressure on their valuations as they seek more funds from <keyword id="6357097" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="venture-capital">venture capital</keyword> investors. Already, the top three Indian ecommerce giants have raised around $5 billion among them, with Flipkart garnering nearly $3 billion in more than one dozen funding rounds. Investors are often enthused by the Indian Internet market, which according to a <keyword id="48670" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Morgan-Stanley">Morgan Stanley</keyword> report, could rise to $137 billion by 2020. 

	"Unlike us, Amazon doesn't have to get worked up on upcoming valuations, or getting a fresh investor in every round — they can keep funding to ensure the others in the market bleed," said an executive at one of the Indian ecommerce companies. He also pointed to high cash burns for Flipkart, which is estimated to be around $2 million daily.
