South Korean gaming giant <keyword id="10155974" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="krafton" source="Orion">Krafton</keyword> has pumped in $19.5 million in homegrown audio content platform <keyword id="8740043" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="kuku-fm" source="Orion">Kuku FM</keyword>, the startup announced on Thursday. With 6 million active paid users, Kuku FM said it will use the funds to drive expansion and strengthen its content. "We are confident about hitting 10 million active paid users by the end of this year and 50 million paid users by 2025," said Lal Chand Bisu, Co-founder and CEO, Kuku FM. The Series B round also saw participation from existing investors including 3one4 Capital, Vertex Ventures, and India Quotient, with Founder Bank Capital and Verlinvest joining as new investors. With this funding, Kuku FM has secured a total of $25 million since its inception in 2018. Offering content in five languages (Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, Tamil and Gujarati), Kuku FM hosts 150,000 hours of content across audiobooks, stories, book summaries, courses and podcasts on its platform. With 30,000 creators, 50 per cent of the content is exclusive to the platform and only available on Kuku FM. "We strongly believe that Indian IPs and regional Indian languages content growth will unlock next big monetisation opportunity not just in India but even globally in the long term," said Sean Hyunil Sohn, Head of India Division at Krafton. PUBG maker Krafton leads $19.5 million funding round in Indian audio content platform Kuku FM

South Korean video game company <keyword id="10155974" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="krafton" source="Orion">Krafton</keyword> on Tuesday announced that Indian players will be able to qualify for the official esports programme of the <keyword id="84384" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="asian-games" source="Orion">Asian Games</keyword>, 2022, via <keyword id="11197652" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="battlegrounds-mobile-india" source="Orion">Battlegrounds Mobile India</keyword> (BGMI). This will allow Indian gamers the privilege and opportunity to compete at the event for medals. The games will run from September 10 to September 25, 2022, with competitors from across Asia competing for the medals. "BGMI's inclusion in the esports games bouquet exemplifies Krafton's commitment to developing esports ecosystem globally and in India. Krafton has been investing heavily in the development of Indian gaming, esports, and IT entertainment industries with the establishment of its Indian office," the company said in a statement. "The company invested a total of $70 million this year in the Indian IT sector including the leading Indian esports company Nodwin Gaming, the game streaming platform Loco and India's No.1 web novel platform Pratilipi," it added. The Asian Games is a multi-sport event that's held every four years, in which Asia's best athletes compete. The duo will be working together to find Pratilipi stories that can be translated into globally successful gaming franchises. The latest funding would allow Pratilipi to strengthen its intellectual property (IP) acquisition and development across different formats ranging from audio books to games. The company’s existing investors Omidyar and Network India also participated in the round, along with a host of entrepreneurs such as Unacademy’s founders Gaurav Munjal and Hemesh Singh, Locus’s Nishith Rastogi, Delhivery’s Sahil Barua and Meesho’s Vidit Aatrey. “With Pratilipi already having a multilingual platform for online literature, it is poised to become one of the strongest players in emerging markets in the future. Krafton believes in long term potential of local Indian IPs that can be successful not just in India, but globally as well across formats including literature, comics and gaming and our investment in Pratilipi is another step in realising that vision,” Sean Hyunil Sohn, head of Krafton’s India division. Pratilipi was founded by Prashant Gupta, Sahradayi Modi, Rahul Ranjan, Sankaranarayanan Devarajan and Singh in 2015. PUBG set for a comeback in India – to set up a local office, hire 100 employees and invest $100 million in the Indian market

A Krafton spokesperson confirmed the delisting and said the company is seeking clarification. According to a Reuters<a href="https://www.reuters.com/world/india/google-blocks-kraftons-battle-royale-game-india-after-govt-order-2022-07-28/"> report</a>, the Indian government invoked a section 69A of its IT law to impose restrictions on BGMI. This section allows the Indian government to block public access to content that concerns national security. Swadeshi Jagran Manch, a political and cultural organisation and Prahar, a non-government organisation repeatedly asked the Indian government to investigate China's influence on BGMI. Also, the president of Prahar, Abhay Mishra said, Swadeshi Jagran Manch is the wing of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh - an influential Hindu nationalist group which is close to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, said Reuters. It was rumoured it will re-launch in India on November 20. However, at the time of writing this article, there has been no official announcement yet from either the PUBG Corporation or the parent company, Krafton, on the release of the game. The pre-registration page also reveals that PUBG Mobile India’s Facebook and YouTube pages are now also live. However, at the time of writing this article, the pre-registration window has been closed, which could mean the official launch is imminent. Is PUBG Mobile India coming back to India? The answer is yes, but the official launch date is yet to be revealed. In order to comply with the norms of the Indian government, PUBG Corporation plans to set up a local office with at least 100 employees. “In addition to establishing a local office, the company will look to actively collaborate and leverage local businesses to strengthen its gaming service,” the developers said in s statement. Krafton also plans to have some skin in the game with an investment of $100 million in India to “cultivate the local video game, e-sports, entertainment, and IT industries.” However, the date for the investment and any further details have not been disclosed yet. PUBG Mobile India will have a few changes As PUBG Mobile relaunches in India, it’s <a href="https://www.insidesport.co/pubg-mobile-comeback-pubg-is-coming-to-india-with-these-3-gameplay-changes/">not going to be exactly the same as the game of yore</a>. Until now, if you were playing PUBG for hours on end, the game would issue a warning to users to alert them to the time that has passed by. In the new version, instead of just a warning, it is likely that the game won’t allow users to enter a match after a certain number of hours. To address the issue of violence within the game, the company also plans to introduce the ‘green blood’ effect — which is already a part of the Korean version of the game. And, lastly, the default charter will no longer be naked for new users. In order to avoid the awkwardness of having to run around in underwear while looking for clothes over weapons, the game will now begin with automatically clothed characters.
