Shares of <keyword id="2972222" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="KPR-Mills-Ltd-">KPR Mills Ltd.</keyword>, a diversified textiles player, surged to a fresh high after the company reported first quarter earnings that beat street's expectations. KPR Mills, which also has interests in Sugar production, said its first quarter <keyword id="6431508" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Net-profit">Net Profit</keyword> rose 29 percent to 50.5 crore rupees compared with 39 crore rupees in the same quarter a year ago. Sales during April-June gained 5 percent to 623 crore rupees from 593 crore rupees in the year ago period. KPR Mills gained 2.9 percent, or 18.30 rupees, to 660 rupees on the <keyword id="53581" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="NATIONAL-STOCK-EXCHANGE">National Stock Exchange</keyword>, where 28,400 shares were traded in the first 90 minutes of trade compared with the 5-day average of 46,700 lakhs. 

	KPR Mills' market capitalisation has leapt 172 percent in the past one year to 2,487 crore rupees as investors latched on to strong growth in the textiles sector owing to cheaper prices of inputs such as cotton.

Under the scheme, incentives worth ₹10,683 crore will be provided over five years to the sector. The move is positive for the sector and the economy as it will help bolster domestic manufacturing, boost employment and scape up exports. The scheme is reportedly expected to provide employment to <a href="https://www.ndtv.com/business/incentives-worth-over-rs-10-000-crore-approved-for-textiles-sector-payout-to-be-spread-over-5-years-2533900">7.5 lakh people</a>. PLI scheme typically provides incentives to companies for enhancing their domestic manufacturing apart from focusing on reducing import bills and improving the cost competitiveness of local goods. Alok Industries, Arvind, Deepak Spinners, Trident gain on PLI for textiles sector, analysts expect the rally to continue

The <keyword id="6354813" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="nifty">Nifty</keyword> fell for a second day during expiry week as traders remained fence sitters ahead of the 2-day <keyword id="6355253" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Federal-Reserve">Federal Reserve</keyword> FOMC meeting to discuss the health of the US economy. 
 The Nifty lost 19 points to end the day at 8,341 points, closing well below its 200-day moving average which is a key support level for the bulls . Its Advance-Decline Ratio stood at 22/28 with NMDC, Hero Motors, Asian Paints and HDFC losing ground. On the gainers side were <keyword id="62034" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Punjab-National-Bank">Punjab National Bank</keyword>, BHEL, NTPC and Kotak Bank. 
 
The Bank Nifty edged up after a stunning quarterly performance by Punjab National Bank. As a consequence, the Index rose 70 points to close at 18,282 points. The trend in other sectoral indices was mixed. CNX Realty and CNX Pharma Index were the top losers today. 
 On the <keyword id="43628" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Bombay-stock-exchange">Bombay Stock Exchange</keyword>, the <keyword id="6484188" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Sensex">Sensex</keyword> lost 102 points to close the day at 27,459 points. Dr. Reddy's, Hero Motors and HDFC were the top losers on the Index, while BHEL, NTPC, HDFC Bank and Hindalco were stocks that rose. As a consequence, the Advance-Decline Ratio on the Sensex stood at 12/18. 
 
The trend in the wider market was evenly matched with 1,352 stocks gaining versus 1,389 that closed below Monday's close. 
 
The day was bearish as well in the derivatives space. Media, Realty and Fertiliser sectors were the worst hit among 18 industries in both price and open interest. The Advance-Decline Ratio was 66/92 in the futures and Options market. 
 Stocks that hit fresh 52 week highs were <keyword id="6359480" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Aditya-Birla">Aditya Birla</keyword> Nuvo, Maruti and KPR Mills. 
 
Despite the fall in broader indices there were some earnings related bright spots in trade today: Mahindra Holidays, PNB, Dish TV and Maruti came up with a stellar set of numbers for the first quarter.
