As for what happened after it made landfall as a <keyword id="21782592" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Severe-Cyclonic-Storm" source="keywords">Severe Cyclonic Storm</keyword>, the trail of destruction it is leaving in its wake should be answer enough. It is being said that the BoB cyclone has only caused moderate damage so far, but reports indicate that it has still managed to cause some major disruptions. <keyword id="19896626" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Kolkata" source="keywords">Kolkata</keyword>, in particular, is still piecing itself together after the storm's destructive Sunday night visit. For reference, Kolkata accumulated 146 mm of rainfall between 8:30 AM on Sunday and 5:30 AM on Monday, with other areas, including Haldia (110 mm), Tamluk (70 mm) and Nimpith (70 mm), in the vicinity also witnessing heavy rains during the period. As per reports, the storm triggered wall-collapse in the Entali area, resulting in the death of a 51-year-old man. Further, the incessant rains, along with gusty winds, uprooted many trees and damaged electricity poles. Kolkata, which has the propensity to flood at the tiniest provocation, saw waterlogging in several areas amid heavy rainfall. The roadblockage further impeded movement within the West Bengal capital. Metro services, flights and trains have all been either partially or completely suspended since Sunday noon, causing considerable inconvenience to commuters and leaving many stranded. On the bright side, things are slowly returning to normal. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Remal has already weakened into a cyclone and is on the path to undergo further de-intensification today. Municipal authorities and disaster management teams are out in force, wielding shovels and determination as they clear debris, remove fallen trees, and work tirelessly to restore normalcy to the city. The ever-reliable <keyword id="20027053" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="kolkata-metro" source="keywords">Kolkata Metro</keyword> is also running on a limited schedule due to waterlogging on the tracks. Flight operations at the airport have thankfully resumed, but locals must be prepared for delays and cancellations as the city sorts itself out. However, Kolkata isn't quite in the clear yet. A red alert issued for Murshidabad and Nadia districts warns of heavy rainfall (7-20 cm) – residents there should be prepared for potential flash floods and overflowing rivers. The city itself can expect a soaking with continuous rain, thundershowers, and strong winds that could gust up to a forceful 80 kmph. So, Kolkata, hold onto your hats (and maybe invest in a sturdier umbrella)!

<ul><li>The Indian Minister of Railways, Piyush Goyal, tweeted a video of India’s first underwater water metro on Twitter. </li><li>Some Twitter users congratulated the Indian government while others wondered why the money couldn’t be spent on fixing the trains that already exist.</li><li>A few users also questioned the motive behind the move and wondered why the investment couldn’t be used to create more jobs or reduce poverty.</li></ul>India’s getting its very first <keyword id="4642229" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Underwater-metro">underwater metro</keyword> and while a few think it's a good move, others are mocking the government for launching new projects without solving existing problems.  Twitterati chimed in congratulating Goyal and commending the progress of the Indian Railways. But there were also reactions that the layman doesn’t want a fancy new metro service, but a metro service that’s clean and functional. One Twitter user sarcastically pointed out how it will be easier for passengers to escape from a train that’s falling into the river — they’ll simply catch the underwater metro instead.

 The other criticism of the underwater metro was how the Indian Railways should focus on fixing products on its older trains — like unclean bathrooms, lax safety standards and food quality — rather than trying to manage a new technology.

 Users also pointed out that the money used for the underwater metro, that is estimated to cost ₹60 crore, might have been better spent dealing with India’s burgeoning unemployment and poverty.

 Railing underwater The underwater metro is going to run along a 520 meter stretch of tunnels and is built 30 meters under the the riverbed. The total tunneling length is around 10.6 kilometers with the entire metro line constituting of 16.6 kilometers. While the underground tunnel is estimated to cost ₹60 crore, the entire East-West Metro Project has a total cost of ₹9,000 crore.

New Delhi, Feb 12 () Siemens Ltd on Wednesday said the company has installed an efficient power supply system with advanced passenger safety features in the Kolkata East-West Metro Project. The project of Kolkata Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (KMRCL) will be inaugurated on Thursday, Siemens said in a statement. "Siemens has successfully implemented an efficient power supply system with advanced passenger safety features for Kolkata Metro Rail Corporation Limited (KMRCL). Siemens-powered metro line is to be inaugurated in Kolkata (tomorrow)," the company said in a statement. The company added that it has designed, tested and commissioned power supply systems, including cutting-edge supervisory control and data acquisition system (SCADA) and operation control centre and advanced intelligent infrastructure features such as passenger safety and digital simulation. The solution also includes digital simulation of the entire metro rail corridor in Kolkata. The Kolkata East-West Metro Project is a rapid transit system connecting Kolkata and Howrah, it said. It has a total length of 16.1 kilometers and serves 12 stations. The installation of the system has made six elevated stations with the operation control centre and depot at central park along the 5.5-kilometer route operational. Siemens Head (Mobility) Tilak Raj Seth said, "We take great pride in partnering KMRCL in this prestigious project. The metro rail system has proven to be the most efficient mode of transportation in terms of energy consumption, space occupancy and the number of people transported." ABI HRS

However, the market share declined from 16.8% in June to 15.7% in July. Similarly, IndiGo's passenger load factor in July was almost flat at 60.2%. New Delhi, Nov 27 () JSW Cement is aiming to nearly double its production capacity to 25 million tonne per annum by 2023 by investing around Rs 2,875 crore and be among top five cement makers.
The investment would fund the expansion plans through a combination of debt and internal accruals, JSW Cement, part of USD 14 billion JSW Group, said in a statement. 
The company is planning to expand manufacturing capacity at its Odisha-based subsidiary Shiva Cement. It is also looking at ramping up capacity at its other units to reach the target. 
"As part of our strategy to play a significant role in India's infrastructure growth story, we are revising our overall cement capacity targets to 25 MTPA by 2023," said JSW Cement Managing Director Parth Jindal.
According to him, after completion of the capacity expansion, JSW Cement will be among top 5 Indian cement companies. 
The company's current capacity is 14 MTPA.
"JSW Cement's aggressive ramp up in capacity will entail a capex investment of approximately Rs 2,875 crore (including the planned capex at Shiva Cement)," the company said.
The company, which supplies cement to various infrastructure projects including Mumbai Metro, Kolkata Metro Rail, Coal India Project, AP State Housing Projects, among others, is sensing growth opportunity in the Portland Slag Cement (PSC).
"The growth opportunity for PSC is visible in the number of infrastructure projects that now uses JSW's PSC across India," it said adding the company is becoming a preferred green cement supplier for most of these projects. 
According to the statement, in the South, JSW Cement plans to add 3.6 MTPA capacity to take its overall green cement capacity to 11.6 MTPA. 
In the West, JSW Cement plans to add 2.4 MTPA taking its overall cement capacity to 4.6 MTPA. 
In eastern India, it is adding the largest chunk of production capacities of over 5 MTPA taking its capacity to 9 MTPA. 
"The capacity ramp up will be at manufacturing units at Salboni, West Bengal where the company will add 2.4 MTPA, Jajpur, Odisha facility with an addition of 1.8 MTPA along with 1 MTPA capacity addition at Shiva Cement," it said.
According to the Cement Manufacturers Association, India's cement industry has an installed capacity of 502 MTPA comprising about 250 large cement plants.
Adity Birla group firm UltraTech is the leading producer, which has a consolidated capacity of 117.35 MTPA of grey cement. KRH
