Release of New Varieties A total of 109 new high-yielding and climate-resilient varieties of 32 field and horticulture crops will be introduced for farmers to cultivate. He added that the objective right now is to ensure that the issues in the process are ironed out before a wider rollout, which he expects to happen sometime in the calendar year 2023. CBDC trial a landmark moment in the history of money: Shaktikanta Das

New Delhi, Nov 21 () The government on Thursday said it has distributed Kisan Credit Card (KCC) to only 8,400 fishermen so far in the country and efforts are being made to reach out to more people.
To give boost to the fishery sector, the government has drafted two key bills, which are expected to be placed in Parliament either in the ongoing or next session, it said.
The National Marine Fisheries (Regulation and Management) Bill 2019 and the other bill on controlling diseases in fish are yet to be approved by the Cabinet.
Addressing an event on the occasion of the World's Fisheries Day here, Fisheries Minister Giriraj Singh said among several measures announced, the government had extended a short term credit facility, which was available to farmers pursuing animal husbandry and fisheries in 2018-19.
"So far, 8,400-odd fish farmers have got KCC. This number is too small when compared to around 2 crore fish farmers in the country. We are going to review and take measures to step up our efforts to reach more people," he said.
In the Budget 2018-19, the government had announced extension of the Kisan Credit Card (KCC) facility to animal husbandry farmers and fishermen to help them meet their working capital requirements.
However, not many cards could be distributed to fish farmers due to lack of awareness and delay in issuing RBI guidelines for implementation of this facility, sources said.
The KCC facility meets the short term credit requirements of rearing of animals, birds, fish, shrimp, other aquatic organisms and for capturing fish.
Stating that there is huge untapped potential in the fishery sector, the minister said that efforts are being to create an atmosphere to increase the income of fish farmers.
The target is to increase the income of fish farmers by five fold in the next five years and therefore a separate ministry carved out to focus on this sector and several schemes have been rolled out to boost production, export and value addition, he said.
Singh said the government is planning to promote cage culture in marine and reservoirs, bring down post harvest loss from 25 per cent 10 per cent, and shrimp cultivation in saline water, among others.
Echoing the views, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Secretary Rajni Sekhri Sibal said the neighbouring countries, like China, are taking advantage of Indian marine resources due to lack of legislation.
The ministry has drafted the National Marine Fisheries (regulation and Management) Bill 2019 and another on controlling disease in fish, which are likely to come up for discussion in Parliament in the current or next session, she said.
The marine fisheries regulation aims to regulate and manage fisheries in the Exclusive Economic Zone of India and Indian fishing vessels in the high seas and for responsible and long-term sustainable and optimal utilization of marine fish resources, she added.
Minister of state for Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Sanjeev Kumar Balyan said doubling farmers income cannot be possible without focusing on fishery sector and the National Fish Development Board should focus on promoting fish cultivation in north India.
The Board has done enough in South India and as a result Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are much ahead in the fishery sector when compared to other states, he added.

Kisan credit cards given to 8,400 fishermen so far: Govt

New Delhi, Jul 1 () Banks have so far sanctioned a total of Rs 62,870 crore to over 70.32 lakh Kisan Credit Card holders to help them meet their kharif sowing needs. "As on 30.06.2020, 70.32 lakh Kisan Credit Cards have been sanctioned with credit limit of Rs 62,870 crore out of Rs 2 lakh crore concessional credit under the #Aatmanirbhar package. This will benefit 2.5 crore farmers, including fishermen &amp; dairy farmers," Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said in a tweet. In May, the government had said that 2.5 crore farmers, including fishermen and those involved in animal husbandry, would get Rs 2 lakh crore of concessional credit through Kisan Credit Cards under its Rs 20 lakh crore economic stimulus package. The government has also disbursed Rs 24,586.87 crore to cooperative banks, regional rural banks (RRBs) and microfinance institutions, under special liquidity facility by National Bank For Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD). "As on 30.06.2020, Rs 24,586.87 cr has already been disbursed to Cooperative Banks, RRBs &amp; MFIs under Rs 30,000 cr Special Liquidity Facility by NABARD. This will help 3 cr small &amp; marginal farmers meet their post-harvest and Kharif sowing needs," she said in another tweet. Banks sanction Rs 62,870 crore to over 70 lakh Kisan Credit Card holders

Here are the highlights of his speech: 
 
- Insurance bought online from customer portal of public sector companies will get 8% discount for life &amp; 10% for general insurance. - Around 4.5 crore consumers purchase fuel every day. For those using cards and <keyword id="6388138" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="E-wallets">e-wallets</keyword>, Petrol and Diesel purchases will now attract a 0.75% discount. 
- The government will provide 2 POS or Point of Sale machines for free to each village that has a population of over 8,000. Around 75 crore people will get access to these machines. 
- Monthly and seasonal tickets for suburban train passengers who pay digitally for their tickets will get a 0.5% discount. This discount will be applicable from January 1, 2017. 
-Railways to also give 5% discount on accommodation, catering and retiring room on payment by digital mode. 
- Railways passengers who purchase tickets online will be entitled to an insurance coverage of Rs 10 Lakhs for free. 
-Digital transactions up to Rs 2,000 will be exempted from service tax 
- Highway toll will see 10% discount on digital payments - NABARD will give Rupay card to people who have <keyword id="6362618" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Kisan-Credit-Card">Kisan Credit Card</keyword> 
 
The government clearly is encouraging alternate forms of payment. It aims to push and implement the use of credit cards, debit cards, mobile wallets, and online banking.

Here are the FAQs and complete details of the EMI moratorium package and ways to avail of it. 1. What is the EMI moratorium provided for loans under COVID 19 - regulatory package? The prevailing situation may pose a huge challenge for people at large. As a measure of solidarity, RBI permitted all Indian banks and financial Institutions to offer its customers up to 3 months moratorium on their EMI payments falling due between Mar 1st, 2020 to May 31st, 2020. 2. Who is eligible? All HDFC Bank customers who have availed of retail instalment loan or any other retail credit facilities prior to 1st March 2020 are eligible. Customers having overdues prior to 1st March 2020 may also opt for the moratorium, and their requests shall be considered by the bank based on its merits. All Agri Loans (Kisan Gold Card) and Microfinance customers under the Bank’s Sustainable Livelihood Initiative are also eligible. All Corporate as well as SME customers are also eligible. The bank’s relationship managers will get in touch with you or you can contact them to get further details. 3. What will happen if I choose the EMI Moratorium? Bank will not ask for any EMI Payment till May 31st 2020. Interest will continue to accrue on the principal outstanding for the period of the moratorium at the contracted rate of the loan.The loan tenure will get extended by the corresponding period for which the moratorium has been availed. For example, if the EMI for the month of Mar’2020 has been paid and moratorium for April and May’2020 has been availed, then the loan tenure will be extended by 2 months. 4. If I do not want the EMI moratorium, what should I do? If you do not want the EMI moratorium, no further action is required from your side. We will continue to bank your repayment instructions. We encourage customers with adequate funds to continue paying during this period to avoid the extra interest charges and tenor extension. However, if you skip your EMI payment during this period, it is understood that you require EMI moratorium till May 2020. 5. Why was my account debited when the RBI has announced a moratorium? Opting for the moratorium is entirely the customers’ choice. We understand that all our customers may not opt for the moratorium given that there is an additional levy of interest payable under the terms of the moratorium. If you wish to opt for the moratorium, banks can refund the EMI debited and register your loan account under the moratorium process. 6. What charges will I pay, if I avail of this EMI moratorium? If you avail the EMI moratorium, there will be a levy of interest at the contracted rate of the loan for the period of EMI moratorium on the loan outstanding. Such interest will be collected by extending the original tenor of the loan accordingly. 7. How do I get this EMI moratorium? The moratorium allows you to defer the payment till 31 May 2020. You are required to pay the minimum amount due or total outstanding and accrued interest charges on the due date after 31st May 2020. 12. Are all credit card customers eligible for this moratorium? Yes. All retail credit card customers will be deemed eligible for the moratorium if they are regular with their payments on or before 01st March'20 on their credit card outstanding and loans taken on the credit card 13. How do I avail the credit card moratorium? To avail the credit card moratorium, (a) voluntarily defer paying the outstanding during this period i.e. make NIL payment (b) turn off Auto Pay (in case the same is currently availed) through net banking / mobile banking to avail the benefit of the moratorium and reactivate the same post the end of moratorium period. 14. Will interest be levied for the moratorium period on my credit card outstanding and loan on credit cards? Yes, interest will be levied as per the contracted rate on the card. Opting for a 3-month moratorium allows you to defer the payment of your credit card dues and loan instalments taken on credit cards till 31st May 2020. We encourage customers to make full payments towards the outstanding wherever possible to avoid / minimise levy of interest charges for this period. The company has gradually made its hotels operational with 86% of its inventory operational in June compared to 58% in April. “Some cost-cutting measures shall also persist post-COVID-19, which should increase EBITDA margin by 500–700bp,” the report said. CG Power is up over 61% in the past one month CG power has been in the news for various reasons in the past month. The company in late July completed the divestment process of its subsidiary, CG Service Systems France SAS (SEFR). Last week CG Power and Industrial Solutions also informed stock-exchanges that Murugappa Group company Tube Investments of India would be investing ₹700 crore to acquire 51% stake in the company. There have often been incidents where NRI women are affected by matrimony related disputes including domestic violence. The policy is being framed keeping the same in mind. By 2030, each workplace across the country would be asked to have at least 50% of workforce comprising of women. For the women from rural background, the government intends to start <keyword id="251740" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Kisan">Kisan</keyword> credit cards, which would have lower interest rates for women. "India's rural and semi-urban markets are under-served in credit extension. They present sustainable long-term growth opportunities for the Indian banking system,” said Rahul Shukla, group head – commercial and rural banking at HDFC Bank in a press <a href="https://www.hdfcbank.com/personal/about-us/news-room/press-release/2021/q3/hdfc-bank-to-double-its-rural-reach-to-2-lakh-villages-in-2-years">statement</a> on Sunday. The statement was issued by the bank on the same day when Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman prodded banks to expand their rural presence at an Indian Banks' Association event. "Even today many panchayats don't have a bank branch. I am not saying that you need to have a physical presence everywhere, digitisation has saved a lot of costs without compromising the service banks provide," she said on Sunday. As part of the plan, the lender also plans to hire 2,500 people over the next six months. The move, it said, will help the lender to expand its reach to one-third of rural India, while extending its leadership in lending to micro, small and medium enterprises. Currently, HDFC Bank offers its products and services to micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in over 550 districts. As of June 30, the bank had close to half of its 5,653 branches in semi-urban and rural India, along with 15,912 banking correspondents. The growth in HDFC Bank’s stock price is also partly led by a strong market sentiment that has prevailed as the fear of an impending third COVID wave has weakened,” she said. The bank’s management, in its July earnings call, had also indicated that the lender is looking at “solid growth” in the ongoing financial year. “If I were to take any insights and share with you for the first 15 days trends for the month of July '21, HDFC Bank is echoing the projection of almost 100% of pre-COVID levels on the disbursement. And that gives me the optimism that in quarter two, which is July, August and September, we should be in a position to scale up rapidly on our growth rates,” said Arvind Kapil, the bank's country head for retail assets at HDFC Bank’s earning call in July. “...our assessment and our belief is that we should be back on course to achieve the original financial year plans and should close the year on a solid growth for the financial year,” he said. Last week, the bank said it would launch co-branded credit cards in partnership with Paytm. The launch, planned in October, it said will coincide with the festive season as the lender looks to tap into potentially higher consumer demand for credit card offers, EMIs and Buy Now Pay Later options, with the full suite of products to be on offer by the end of December.
