<ul><li>Delhi will be going into elections early next year in 2020</li><li>Lokniti – CSDS Survey results say Kejriwal continues to be popular among the voters who elected his party with vast majority in 2015.</li><li>Here are some interesting stats on how Kejriwal is faring in the capital of India’s electoral landscape. </li></ul> A movement becomes a party Just a few years ago, an agitation against corruption turned into a political party and AAP (Aam Aadmi Party) was born on 26 November 2012. Since then, it was not a smooth ride for Arvind Kejiwal, the hero who pioneered the new kind of political experiment. Political analysts had their own doubts if the captain could successfully steer the ship to reach the Promised Land amidst a stiff internal strife. AAP’s electoral debut in 2013 won it 28 out of 70 seats seeing the party occupy the throne of Delhi Vidhan Sabha only for 49 days after which it resigned. Finally eyebrows curved up when AAP could grab 67 out of 70 seats during the 2015 legislative assembly elections achieving a vast majority to rule the national capital of India within just three years of its launch. Is AAP ready for assembly elections in 2020 Delhi is preparing to vote again in early 2020 to elect the government which will take charge of the Vidhan Sabha for the next five year term. Political parties have already began contemplating on newer strategies to win the game this time by wooing the voters in newer ways. Findings of Lokniti CSDS Survey A recent Lokniti CSDS survey involving 2,298 voters of the Delhi electorate has concluded that Kejriwal continues to enjoy overwhelming popularity among the electors. Skimming over the results of the survey, the following bullets sum up the points that surface. Four among five voters are happy about how AAP team performed on the throne of Delhi assembly as a majority government. While about 90 percent of Delhi voters like Kejriwal, about two thirds have developed a strong liking for his personality and performance. In comparison with Narendra Modi, Kejriwal weighs up on the winning side in being more popular among the Delhi electors. About 80% voters strongly like Modi while 50% of them strongly like him. What to take home? A majority of Delhi voters feel that the AAP has been able to fulfill the promises made during the election campaign 2015 to a large extent. People’s liking for Modi has not worked against how they would like to support Kejiriwal. The backing enjoyed by the party’s MLA’s in their constituencies show that the government has fared well in satisfying people’s expectations. The politics and personality of Arvind Kejriwal has become a kind of X-factor that can decide the outcome of the next assembly elections in 2020.

The assembly polls will commence on February 8, and the final counting of votes will be on February 11. Of the total 1.46 crore voters in Delhi, 8,055,686 are men, 6,635,635 are women and 815 are categorised as third gender. The three main parties contesting elections constitute the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Indian National Congress (INC). In 2015 assembly elections, <keyword id="260213" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Arvind-Kejriwal">Arvind Kejriwal</keyword> was elected as the Chief Minister of the state. He is now eyeing a re-election in the upcoming assembly polls. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) won the 2015 election — winning 67 of the 70 assembly seats while the three seats went to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). This is the first time that the national capital is going to polls after the Lok Sabha elections. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, BJP bagged all seven seats in Delhi. Pollution crisis, cracking down on unauthorised residential colonies and full statehood of Delhi are the key issues to be brought up during the assembly polls. Kejriwal also <a href="https://www.ndtv.com/india-news/delhi-poll-dates-to-be-announced-by-election-commission-at-3-30-pm-2159423">told</a> NDTV that clean water supply, ensuring the safety of women and improving public transport are the top priorities of the Delhi government. In addition to this, Kejriwal said that the government will ensure free bus rides for students after winning the 2020 Assembly elections in the national capital, similar to the way his government has made the public transport free for women in the city, IANS reported. The ongoing row over the Citizenship Amendment Act is also likely to be a prominent issue for the upcoming elections. Kejriwal also voiced his opposition to the NRC (National Register of Citizens) and NPR (National Population Register). In a bid to defend the citizenship law, Narendra Modi-led BJP government has taken up the attacks on Nankana Sahib in Pakistan while campaigning for elections. Sikhs constitute almost 5% of Delhi’s population, as per census 2011. Addressing a press conference, BJP National Secretary R.P. Singh said, "On Friday, stones were thrown at the Nankana Sahib Gurdwara and slogan to throw Sikhs out of Pakistan and send them to India were raised. The Pakistan government didn't take any action for 13 hours." Before the AAP came into power in Delhi, Congress ruled the state for nearly 15 years. Delhi assembly elections 2020:Polling on February 8; counting on February 11

NDA is likely to get between 212 and 232 seats if the <keyword id="6355187" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="40" keywordseo="Lok-Sabha">Lok Sabha</keyword> elections were held today, with BJP alone winning between 193 and 213, according to an opinion poll done for a TV channel. The poll, based on a survey of six states, puts the UPA a distant second with 119 to 139 seats, of which <keyword id="1575" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="Congress">Congress</keyword> was projected to win between 94 and 110. 
 The CNN-IBN poll, conducted by CSDS and Lokniti, made these projections based on surveys in Uttar Pradesh, <keyword id="30033" type="COMPANY" weightage="40" keywordseo="Bihar">Bihar</keyword>, Maharashtra, <keyword id="37102" type="COMPANY" weightage="40" keywordseo="Andhra-Pradesh">Andhra Pradesh</keyword>, <keyword id="20154" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="40" keywordseo="tamil-nadu">Tamil Nadu</keyword> and Delhi. While the seat figures are more or less the same as the projections done by the same pollsters in January, the popularity rating of <keyword id="6354477" type="PERSON" weightage="40" keywordseo="Narendra-Modi">Narendra Modi</keyword> has dipped significantly. 
 In January, 36% of respondents to the survey had chosen Modi as their preferred PM. That figure is now down to 31%. In contrast, there has been an uptick of one percentage point each in those picking <keyword id="5268" type="PERSON" weightage="40" keywordseo="Rahul-Gandhi">Rahul Gandhi</keyword> (now 13%), <keyword id="689" type="PERSON" weightage="40" keywordseo="Sonia-Gandhi">Sonia Gandhi</keyword>, <keyword id="6357690" type="PERSON" weightage="40" keywordseo="mayawati">Mayawati</keyword>, Mulayam Singh and <keyword id="6359397" type="PERSON" weightage="40" keywordseo="Manmohan-Singh">Manmohan Singh</keyword>. 
 
The poll also shows BJP’s projected vote share down marginally from the January estimate and the Congress vote share too down marginally. The saffron party continues to enjoy a significant lead with 33% compared to Congress’ 26%. 
 Apart from the NDA and UPA, the <keyword id="43826" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="40" keywordseo="Trinamool-Congress">Trinamool Congress</keyword> is likely to be the biggest party winning between 20 and 28 seats, according to the survey. <keyword id="120271" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="40" keywordseo="The-Left">The Left</keyword> with 15-23, AIADMK with 14-20, YSR Congress and <keyword id="6355032" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="40" keywordseo="SP">SP</keyword> with 11-17 seats each, BJD, TDP and DMK with 10-16 each and BSP with 8-14 could be the other significant players in the 16th Lok Sabha, it projected. 
 
If these projections turn out right, it would almost certainly mean that the next government in New Delhi would be headed by Modi and would be cobbled together by the existing NDA joining hands with smaller regional parties. Neither Congress nor the ill-defined Third Front/Federal Front would really be in a position to take a meaningful shot at forming a government in such a scenario.
