The <a href="https://scripps.ucsd.edu/programs/keelingcurve/">Keeling Curve</a>, a graph that keeps a record of all the carbon dioxide that's being accumulated in the Earth's atmosphere, just recorded that the harmful gas has breached 415 parts per million (ppm) for the first time in human history. <div type="ExtQuote" text="Every year it goes up like this we should be saying 'No, this shouldn't be happening.  The higher the ppm, the higher the concentration of the substance — in this case, it's the concentration of carbon dioxide in the air. Eric Holthas, a meteorologist, clarified on Twitter that this doesn't just mean from before recorded history but from before humans came into existence.  Scientists had already predicted that this day would come, or as Thanos would say, it was "inevitable." 
 There seems to be no going back The observations are recorded by the Mauna Loa Observatory in Hawaii. Their data shows that the upward trend in carbon dioxide levels shows no signs of slowing down.  Despite numerous treaties and projects, the goals for clean energy as far from being met. Mike Waldron, an <a href="https://energy.economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/renewable/step-change-in-energy-investment-needed-to-meet-climate-goals-iea/69317010">International Energy Agency</a>(IEA) investment analyst, said, "Governments have not clearly committed, nor have they clearly not committed to reaching the Paris Agreement goals." According to the IEA, if countries want to meet their climate goals they have to double their spending on renewable power and taper down on how much they invest in coal and oil. Human history has never seen carbon dioxide levels this high

It's been rising ferociously for decades - <a href="https://scripps.ucsd.edu/programs/keelingcurve/2016/05/23/why-has-a-drop-in-global-co2-emissions-not-caused-co2-levels-in-the-atmosphere-to-stabilize/">even as we've begun to pollute the planet less</a>.This worrisome phenomenon suggests that humans have essentially maxed out our planet's best protection against climate change. This protection comes in the form of so-called "carbon sinks" - patches of land and ocean that absorb large chunks of the carbon dioxide we pump into the atmosphere. For the past several decades, they've been helping to keep the planet from warming as quickly as it otherwise would. Carbon dioxide levels would keep rising, and climate change would worsen.Back in 1958, a scientist named Charles David Keeling was the first person to measure the CO2 in the air. His project at the Mauna Loa volcano, which was initially slated to run for only one year, turned into a 24/7 measurement of global CO2 levels. You've probably seen the rising line known by scientists as the "Keeling Curve" in a presentation or two about climate change.<img src="https://static-ssl.businessinsider.com/image/5953e0f3d084cc08538b5ab5-1000/keeling curve.png" alt="keeling curve" />Wikimedia CommonsThe Keeling Curve.Keeling's son Ralph now leads the carbon dioxide program at the Scripps Institute for Oceanography. In a <a href="https://scripps.ucsd.edu/programs/keelingcurve/2016/05/23/why-has-a-drop-in-global-co2-emissions-not-caused-co2-levels-in-the-atmosphere-to-stabilize/">recent post for Scripps</a>, he explained that he reason CO2 levels didn't begin leveling off once humans started polluting less was "pretty simple."Basically, Keeling explained, the sinks we have now can only suck up about half of the carbon dioxide we emit. The other half is still building up in the atmosphere. In order to start making that red line on the Keeling Curve level off, we'd have to slash our pollution levels by a whopping 50%.That has not happened. Even in Europe, where greenhouse gas emissions have been decreasing pretty significantly, they only dropped <a href="http://ec.europa.eu/eurostat/statistics-explained/index.php/Greenhouse_gas_emission_statistics">22% in the 25 years between 1990 and 2015</a>.Even if we begin to curb our emissions severely, we won't be out of the danger zone, Keeling wrote."Eventually, additional emissions cuts would be required because the sinks will slowly lose their efficiency as the land and ocean start to saturate."Think of a dry sponge as an example. At first, that sponge is great at sucking up water. But as it gets more and more full, it can absorb less and less. The 10-year yield has now traded below the 3-month yield for three weeks, flashing a long-watched historical sign that a recession is looming. On Tuesday, the spread fell to a low of -14.26 basis points, its most negative since August 2007. This is the first time an inversion has happened for such a long period since before the financial crisis. While <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/stock-bond-market-divergence-not-sustainable-bad-omen-for-earnings-season-2019-4">bond investors have been bearish</a> on the economy, due to the inverted yield curve, equity investors have been bullish, sometimes pointing to other economic factors or the impact of quantitative easing, when a central bank adds to the money supply, as reasons the inversion shouldn't be seriously watched. But now, an increasing amount of equities analysts are sounding the alarm.The yield-curve inversion has grown amidst increasing tension around the China trade war. There is worry about global growth, and macro data is showing signs of a weakening global economy. In the United States, the Federal Reserve may cut rates this year to keep the economy in check. "We are moving in the wrong direction," wrote Darda. "The old adage of an ounce of prevention beating a pound of cure applies here." <h2>Trade-War Tensions</h2>Darda argues that the economy is slowing, and that the Fed needs to take careful action to keep it on an even keel. That may mean cutting rates, if economic momentum continues to slow and the outcome of the US-China trade war is a negative one. While the trade war has certainly had an impact on yields, <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/stock-market-news-4-major-risks-outside-trade-war-morgan-stanley-2019-5">it is not the only worry according to Morgan Stanley. </a>"Economic data around the world have come in weaker than expected, led by Europe and Asia, including China," wrote team of strategists at Morgan Stanley led by Mike Wilson in a May 28 note. The latest round of economic releases showed disappointing numbers in April, before trade tensions re-escalated in May, the strategists said. And weak earnings numbers in the first quarter of 2019 show that companies are lowering their expectations about year-long growth. When the 3-month and 10-year yield curve <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/next-stock-market-crash-yield-curve-inverted-negative-yields-impact-2019-3">last inverted in March</a>, it was dismissed by many who argued "this time is different." Tom Porcelli, chief economist at RBC said the inversions do not follow the historical pattern that would signal a recession. "The problem with the current inversion and the historical record is that the yield curve at present is not a referendum on the path of economic growth in the United States, but rather a function of goings on globally," he wrote."Yields have become more a function of global growth dynamics and indeed have become anchored to low/negative sovereign yields abroad." Instead of a recession, an <a href="https://markets.businessinsider.com/news/stocks/yield-curve-inversion-will-lead-to-asset-bubbles-not-recession-2019-3-1028058233?utm_source=markets&amp;utm_medium=ingest">asset bubble</a> is more likely, he said. <h2>Quantitative Easing - and Tightening</h2>Others argued that quantitative easing was driving yields and that the duration of the inversion - then only a week - wasn't long enough to spark warning. Strategists at Morgan Stanley decided to investigate this claim to see how much of an impact quantitative easing and quantitative tightening had on the yield curve. Darda also argues against the idea that quantitative easing is driving yields, pointing out that the Fed has raised rates and reduced its balance sheet by more than $600 billion. To be sure, many analysts disagree about this yield curve inversion being cause for much alarm. The widening of the gap between the 10-year and three-month inversion is due largely to the rapid decline of the 10-year."This is unusual," analysts at Fundstrat wrote on Wednesday, referring to the decline in the 10-year yield. Still, they argue that while the inversion should be respected, investors are overreacting. Because the gap is caused by the 10-year falling below the three-month, it does not signal a recession, they wrote. Stantt co-founder Kirk Keel told Business Insider that his research showed that small, medium, large, and extra-large size shirts only fit about 15% of men correctly. 
The Hoboken, New Jersey-based company offers more than 50 shirt sizes for men's polos and button-ups based on waist, arm length, and chest measurements. 
The company has raised about $36,000 of a $60,000 <a href="http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/stantt/stantttm-casual-shirts-get-a-custom-fit">Kickstarter goal in recent weeks</a>.
We talked to Keel about his vision for a new way to buy shirts. 
BUSINESS INSIDER: What are some common problem guys run into when buying clothes?
Kirk Keel: The two biggest issues we've seen are the poor fit of standard sizes and inconsistency in sizing between brands. Each brand uses different sizing standards so a medium from brand A is different than a medium from brand B, making finding something that fits even more of a hassle.
Also, we often see that the standard sizes may fit in one place, but not the other. For example, a taller, skinnier guy may have to buy a large to get sleeves that are long enough, but then the shirt is really baggy around the waist. Or a shorter guy may buy a medium that fits his chest and waist really well, only to find that the sleeves are too long. I could go on and on...

BI: How did you get the idea for Stantt?
KK: We were frustrated by not finding clothes that fit. It's been an issue for as long as we can remember, and once we started to talk to other guys about it, we realized that this was a problem nearly every guy dealt with. The industry standard of small, medium and large just wasn't cutting it and almost all guys were forced to settle for something that doesn't fit exactly like they wanted. So, we decided to do something about it.
BI: Why did you focus on casual <keyword id="6373481" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="clothing">clothing</keyword>?
KK: We were inspired by the feeling a man gets from putting on his favorite suit. It fits like a glove, making him feel confident and empowered. The problem is getting that same level of fit in casual clothes today is impossible unless you're willing to take on the time and expense of getting something tailored. At Stantt, we think feeling great in what you wear should extend beyond the custom suit or expensive tailored shirt and into the staple pieces a guy wears every day.
BI: What's your background? 
KK: Myself and co-founder Matt Hornbuckle have a combined 18 years of experience in marketing, brand development, and supply chain with several fortune 500 companies. Most recently, we were at Johnson &amp; Johnson managing big consumer brands. 
BI: How accurate is your sizing system?
KK: We want to make it simple for all guys to get a great fit. Based on our testing to date, we expect that the shirts will give over 95% of guys a great fit. As with any new technology, we know that there will be a learning curve, but we are already focusing on refining and expanding the sizes to ensure that all guys can easily get shirts that they look and feel great in.
BI: How could this change the <keyword id="6354851" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Retail">retail</keyword> industry?
KK: With the technology that’s now available, new ways of doing things are possible – ways that can challenge the status quo and disrupt industries. While we’re still at the beginning of the journey, we think we can become the gold standard in men’s apparel and set a new standard and consumer expectation when it comes to fit.
