He then walked toward home plate and high-fived the catcher. And baseball began.</p><p>Here's a .gif of the moment:</p><p>KBO is hoping to play its full, 144-game season, despite a late start. The games are played behind closed doors, players receive temperature checks twice daily, and all personnel not in uniform must wear masks and gloves, according to NPR. If you're up for some late nights and early mornings, you can watch games play out live as they happen.</li><li>For fans keeping more regular hours, ESPN is replaying the games during the day.</li><li><a href="https://www.insider.com/?hprecirc-bullet">Visit Insider's homepage for more stories</a>.</li></ul><p>Live sports have officially returned to ESPN.</p><p>For weeks, live sports have been absent from the available viewing options on ESPN, with replays of classic games, the network's Michael Jordan docuseries "The Last Dance," and the NFL's first virtual draft taking the place of regularly scheduled games due to the <keyword id="1754604" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="coronavirus">coronavirus</keyword> pandemic.</p><p>But in the wee hours of Tuesday morning, the Korea Baseball Organization celebrated Opening Day in South Korea. Like many leagues around the world, the KBO was forced to push back the start of its season due to the ongoing pandemic. But the season is now in full swing, with games played six days a week.</p><p>While it might not be the teams and players baseball fans are used to watching as spring edges into summer, the league features some former MLB players fans might remember, as well as a swath of Korean players who could later make the jump to American baseball. And given how long it has been since we've had the pleasure of watching live sports, who are we to look a gift horse in the mouth?</p><p>After working out a deal with the KBO, <a href="https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/29136672/kbo-espn-schedule-how-watch-teams-korea-baseball-league-more" target="_blank" rel="noopener">ESPN will be producing six English-language broadcasts per week</a>, airing on ESPN2 at 5:30 a.m. ET on weekdays, and 4 a.m. ET on Saturdays, and 1 a.m. ET on Sundays.</p><p>For those looking to get their baseball fix but unable to stay up into the late hours of the night to watch the league, ESPN will be rebroadcasting the games during the daytime hours. The Korean baseball league is bringing live sports back to ESPN — here's how to watch the KBO League

<ul class="summary-list"><li>Raymond Cho, <keyword id="29196" type="COMPANY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Toronto">Toronto</keyword>'s minister for seniors and accessibility, sent a cardboard cutout of himself to an event celebrating the donation of 30,000 surgical masks.</li><li>Cho said that, as someone who is over 70, he takes the guidelines on minimizing exposure to the virus "very seriously." </li><li>Cutouts are common in South Korea, where Cho was born: This month, the country's baseball league has used photos with word bubbles to replace fans in the stands.</li></ul><p>A Toronto politician sent a cardboard cutout of himself to a photo-op this week rather than risk infection by the <keyword id="1754604" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="coronavirus">coronavirus</keyword>.</p><p>At an event on Wednesday celebrating the Korean community's donation to the city of personal protective equipment,  Minister for Seniors and Accessibility Raymond Cho was represented by a lifesize cutout.</p><p>Cho's two-dimensional stand-in even wore a face mask.</p><p>Cho helped broker a deal for the PPEs with a number of the city's Asian-American business groups —  including the Korean Trade-Investment Promotion Agency, and the Ontario Korean Businessman's Association — and the traditional Chinese medicine community, <a href="https://toronto.citynews.ca/2020/05/27/mpp-raymond-cho-sends-cardboard-cutout-of-himself-to-event-due-to-coronavirus-concerns/">CityNews</a> reported.</p><p><div type="image" title="EZCzf9EWAAEYe1a" height="1363" width="1150" msid="76077213" hostid="261"></div>The donation included 30,000 surgical masks, 4,800 N95 masks, 1400 bottles of hand sanitizer, and 1,000 <keyword id="8763838" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="covid-19">COVID-19</keyword> testing kits.</p><p>Cho said that using the cutout was in compliance with the city's guidance for limiting virus exposure.</p><p>"As Minister for Seniors and Accessibility and as a person who is over 70 years old, I take this advice very seriously," he told CityNews. "Though I could not attend today in person, I wanted to show that I was there in spirit."<br /><br />The cut-out, from an old campaign, "was a creative way to demonstrate my virtual presence during this time," he said.</p><p>Cho told Insider he led the drive with the Consul General of the Republic of Korea.</p><p>Cho, who is with the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario, won a 2016 by-election to become the Member of the Provincial Parliament for Scarborough North.</p><p>On Twitter, one follower had a stern rebuke for Cho's boss, Ontario premier Doug Ford.<br /><br />"After these past two years, I'd rather have cardboard cutouts running this province than the Ford government," they <a href="https://twitter.com/1Jakesmith/status/1265733778175123456">tweeted</a>. A Canadian politician sent a cardboard cutout of himself to a photo-op rather than risk getting the coronavirus

<ul class="summary-list"><li>President Trump has often boasted about his prowess as a high school <keyword id="23398" type="SPORT" weightage="60" keywordseo="Baseball">baseball</keyword> player, claiming he could have played professionally had he taken a different direction in life.</li><li>But a deep dive into his high school baseball career from Leander Schaerlaeckens at Slate showed a different story.</li><li>While Trump is credited as a solid first baseman by several teammates, a limited look at his box scores revealed him to be a below-average hitter.</li><li>Schaerlaeckens also noted the lack of coverage of Trump in high school makes it unlikely he was on the radar of any professional teams in his youth.</li><li><a href="https://www.insider.com/?hprecirc-bullet">Visit Insider's homepage for more stories</a>.</li></ul><p>President Trump's recollections of his career as a high school baseball player have come under scrutiny.</p><p>Trump has claimed that he was a standout player, capable of making the big leagues had he desired.</p><p>"I was captain of the baseball team," Trump said <a href="http://www.mtv.com/news/1641093/donald-trump-dreamed-of-playing-in-the-majors-on-when-i-was-17/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">in a 2010 interview with MTV</a>. "I was supposed to be a professional baseball player. Fortunately, I decided to go into real estate instead. I played first base and I also played catcher. I was a good hitter. I just had a good time."</p><p>In a 2013 tweet, Trump went as far as to say that he was the best player in the state of New York in his high school days.</p><p>But a deep dive into Trump's high school career from <a href="https://slate.com/culture/2020/05/donald-trump-baseball-high-school-nyma.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Leander Schaerlaeckens at Slate</a> suggests that the president's claims might be a bit exaggerated.</p><p>While Trump did play for the New York Military Academy through his high school days, the evidence seems to show him as a solid first baseman who struggled at the plate, rather than future pro.</p><p>Schaerlaeckens points to one anecdote that draws quite a bit of scrutiny. In a passage he wrote for the book "The Games Do Count: America's Best and Brightest on the Power of <keyword id="6356028" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="sports">Sports</keyword>," Trump recalled the memory of a game-winning home run he hit in his youth.</p><p>"I will never forget […] the first time I saw my name in the newspaper," Trump wrote. "It was when I got the winning home run in a game between our academy and Cornwall High School. It was in 1964 and it was in a little local paper. It simply said, TRUMP HOMERS TO WIN THE GAME. I just loved it and I will never forget it. It was better than actually hitting the home run."</p><p>But Schaerlaeckens couldn't find any evidence of such a headline in local papers that were covering the NYMA's baseball team at the time. Further, he found that the NYMA didn't even play against Cornwall High School that year or the year before.</p><p>While Schaerlaeckens could only find a limited offering of box scores from Trump's time at NYMA, they painted a picture of the future president as a solid fielder but a questionable hitter — in nine games, Trump went 4-29 at the plate for a batting average of .138.</p><p>It's possible that Schaerlaeckens simply caught a glimpse of Trump's worst games as a hitter — even the best batters in baseball go through the occasional slump — but there's a reason that batting average is used as a vital indicator of a ballplayer's potential.</p><p>Schaerlaeckens also pointed to the fact that the limited coverage of Trump throughout his high school career raises questions as to how real his pro prospects were. Had he had a real shot at the majors, local papers would have covered him more extensively.</p><p>Trump's own recollection of his talents might be a bit exaggerated, but he's not the only person who has talked up his abilities as an athlete in his youth. In <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/donald-trump-high-school-classmates-what-he-was-like-2015-10" target="_blank" rel="noopener">a 2015 interview with Business Insider</a>, former teammate Ted Levine spoke highly of Trump's baseball prowess.</p><p>"He was just the best, a good athlete, a great athlete," Levine said. "He could have probably played pro ball as a pitcher. I think he threw 80 miles an hour. I was the catcher. Trump has claimed that he was good enough to play professional baseball in high school, but his stats suggest otherwise

<p>Oil and gas explorer BG Group <a href="http://www.investegate.co.uk/bg-group--bg--/rns/2015-second-quarter---half-year-results/201507310700266461U/">put out its half-year report on Friday</a> and it makes for pretty grim reading - just look at the revenue breakdown below.</p><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image"><p class="source"><span><a href="http://www.investegate.co.uk/bg-group--bg--/rns/2015-second-quarter---half-year-results/201507310700266461U/">BG Group</a></span></p></div><p></p></div></div></p><p>Those are huge double-digit falls across the board. The biggest was in upstream, which is industry speak for exploration and production of oil, as opposed to refining it.</p><p>BG's earnings before tax and exceptional costs collapsed 45% in the first half to $2.96 billion (£1.9 billion).</p><p>The tanking revenues and earnings are down to the slump in the oil price over the last year. Oil is currently trading around $53 a barrel, compared to <a href="http://www.eia.gov/todayinenergy/detail.cfm?id=17651">an average of $107 a barrel in July last year</a>.</p><p>As a result BG is cutting back on investment - it slashed investment in operations by 34% in the first half. Shell, which is <a href="http://uk.businessinsider.com/shell-and-bg-group-agrees-to-create-a-224-billion-super-group-2015-4">in the process of buying BG</a>, is also making big cuts. BG Group got absolutely destroyed in a brutal six months

<p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"><p class="source"><span>NASA/JPL-Caltech</span></p></div><p></p></div></div>If all went according to plan, NASA's New Horizons spacecraft made history<span> Tuesday morning after <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/humankind-has-just-visisted-pluto-for-the-first-time-2015-7">snagging the world's first</a><a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/humankind-has-just-visisted-pluto-for-the-first-time-2015-7"> close-up look at Pluto.</a></span></p><p>But completing the Solar System's <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/pluto-first-full-solar-system-family-portrait-new-horizons-2015-7">planetary family portrait</a> is just a small part of the spacecraft's journey - it's already explored Jupiter and is now destined to probe a mysterious zone of icy objects called the Kuiper Belt.</p><p>In fact, mission leader and planetary scientist Alan Stern says New Horizons may have decades' worth of exploration left in it, thanks to its long-lived nuclear power source.</p><h2>Pre-Pluto homework</h2><p>Before its personal rendezvous with Pluto, New Horizons swung by Jupiter for a gravitational speed boost. This shaved <a href="http://phenomena.nationalgeographic.com/2015/07/11/as-new-horizons-speeds-toward-pluto-we-revisit-its-gorgeous-jupiter-pics/">almost 4 years off its travel time</a>, to a total of 9 1/2 years.</p><p>New Horizons did a little <keyword id="41551" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="100" keywordseo="science">science</keyword> while it was in the Jovian neighborhood, too. For example, its cameras caught the <span>Tvashtar volcano <a href="http://svs.gsfc.nasa.gov/cgi-bin/details.cgi?aid=11455">exploding on Jupiter's third-largest moon, Io.</a> It also made about <a href="http://phenomena.nationalgeographic.com/2015/07/11/as-new-horizons-speeds-toward-pluto-we-revisit-its-gorgeous-jupiter-pics/">700 other observations</a>, giving New Horizons the opportunity to test its suite of seven scientific instruments. </span></p><p>Now, about 8 years later, New Horizons is completing what's arguably the most popular leg of its trip - zooming past Pluto and its moons, of which there are at least five.</p><h2>A first look at the icy dwarf planet</h2><p>The busiest part of New Horizon's flyby past Pluto and its largest moon, Charon, began about <a href="http://www.nasa.gov/pdf/139889main_PressKit12_05.pdf">12 hours before its closest approach, and is slated to last about 12 hours afterward</a>.</p><p>New Horizons passed within<span> <a href="http://spaceflightnow.com/2015/07/09/pluto-probe-provides-appetizer-for-next-weeks-flyby/">7,600 miles</a><span> of Pluto's surface for about 30 minutes. During that time it took what will be the best-ever pictures of Pluto, which should resolve <a href="http://www.nasa.gov/pdf/139889main_PressKit12_05.pdf">surface features as small as 80 feet across</a>.</span></span></p><p>But the flyby wasn't just about taking breathtaking close-ups. Scientific instruments also recorded ultraviolet emissions emanating from Pluto's atmosphere - measurements that will help assemble the best maps of Pluto and Charon we may see in our lifetimes. Other devices on New Horizons studied the composition of the dwarf planet's crust, measured variations in its surface temperatures, sifted for space dust, and snapped images of Pluto's moons.</p><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"><p class="source"><span>NASA</span></p><p class="caption">New Horizons photo of Pluto.</p></div><p></p></div></div></p><p>After the spacecraft passed by, it turned around to examine Pluto and Charon's dark sides. That's the best way to <a href="http://www.nasa.gov/pdf/139889main_PressKit12_05.pdf">detect atmospheric haze, search for rings of debris, and identify whether their surfaces are smooth or rough</a>.</p><p>New Horizons also got a good look at Earth and the Sun as they set and rose through Pluto's atmosphere. While this happened, the spacecraft scanned for radio waves from Earth-based transmitters to profile the composition, structure, and temperature profile of Pluto's atmosphere in incredible detail.</p><h2>Next stop, the Kuiper Belt...</h2><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"><p class="source"><span>NASA, ESA, and G. Bacon (STScI)</span></p><p class="caption">An artist's concept of a Kuiper Belt Object.</p></div><p></p></div></div>If all went well with the planned flyby, New Horizons will soon begin the next major leg of its journey: chasing down a Kuiper Belt object (KBO) that <a href="http://www.nasa.gov/pdf/139889main_PressKit12_05.pdf">measures at least 30 miles in diameter</a>.</p><p>New Horizons has at least three KBOs it can reach, given it's current path through space and limited on-board fuel supply. Their names aren't very exciting: PT1, PT2, and PT3 (where PT means "potential target").</p><p>Sometime this August, according to <a href="http://www.nasaspaceflight.com/2015/07/new-horizons-pluto-historic-kuiper-encounter/">SpaceflightNow.com</a>, NASA will pick the KBO it likes the most, then fire New Horizons's thrusters to steer it in that direction. The trip will take at least 2 years.</p><p>New Horizons might be able to study more than one KBO. And each time it does, the spacecraft will scrutinize the icy object in the same way it did Pluto and Charon: map the surface, measure temperatures, scout for moons, and search for traces of atmosphere.</p><h2>...And beyond</h2><p>After scrutinizing a KBO or two, New Horizons will escape the sun's influence and never again return to our Solar System.</p><p>"It could go for another 20 years," Stern said during a NASA press conference on Tuesday. Around that time, the nuclear power source on board New Horizons will become too weak to supply energy for taking measurements and communicating with Earth.</p><p>This all assumes, of course, that we don't lose the spacecraft anywhere along the way.</p><p>The flyby was the riskiest part of the mission, and its success is still uncertain; right now, there's still a 1-in-10,000 chance <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/how-a-pebble-could-destroy-new-horizons-pluto-mission-2015-7">debris around Pluto</a> thwarted the mission. We'll have to wait until Tuesday night before NASA can say whether or not the maneuver went off without a hitch.</p><p>Yet during Tuesday morning's press briefing, Stern seemed upbeat. He noted that you could fly hundreds of New Horizons and they'd likely all survive.</p><p>One way or another, the mission has already made history. Whether in one piece or a shower of spacecraft parts, we've reached the last unexplored world in our Solar System. The image, snapped on February 14, 1990, was the last one Voyager shot on its way out of our solar system. </p><p>Until now, the photo was taken farther away from Earth than any image ever, a record that stood for more than 27 years.</p><p>But <a href="https://www.nasa.gov/feature/new-horizons-captures-record-breaking-images-in-the-kuiper-belt">NASA's New Horizons spacecraft</a> has now broken that record, sending back several photos from the Kuiper Belt, a region of the outer Solar System beyond Neptune. New Horizons is exploring this region and the Kuiper Belt Objects (KBOs) found there in an effort to better understand these far-away worlds and the journeys they're making through the cosmos. These objects include dwarf planets like Pluto in far-out orbits of the sun and former KBOs in unstable orbits known as "Centaurs". In astronomical units (AUs) - a measurement of the average distance from the center of the Earth to the center of the Sun - it was 40.9 AUs away. The pale blue dot image, by comparison, was captured 40 AUs from Earth.</p><p>Several hours after that first image, New Horizons broke its own record with the two images at the top of this story. Each of those show a Kuiper Belt object: The one on the left is known as 2012 HZ84, and on the right is 2012 HE85.</p><p>These new record-setting images are also the closest-ever images taken of KBOs.</p><p>New Horizons is now "hibernating" to save power in between actions on its journey. The next time scientists plan to bring it back online will be June 4, when the spacecraft will start preparing for a close encounter with a KBO named 2014 MU69 that's expected to happen on Jan. 1, 2019. The spacecraft travels more than 700,000 miles of space every day.</p><p>"New Horizons has long been a mission of firsts - first to explore Pluto, first to explore the Kuiper Belt, fastest spacecraft ever launched," New Horizons Principal Investigator Alan Stern said, <a href="https://www.nasa.gov/feature/new-horizons-captures-record-breaking-images-in-the-kuiper-belt">according to NASA</a>. These new photos from NASA's New Horizons spacecraft were captured farther from Earth than any image ever taken

<p>NASA made history in July when it <a href="http://www.techinsider.io/pluto-photos-no-craters-geologically-active-2015-7">flew past Pluto</a> with the New Horizons spacecraft, but it's not stopping there.</p><p>New Horizons is zooming farther and farther out into the Kuiper Belt - a zone of trillions of small, icy objects that litter the outer edge of our Solar System and act as celestial time capsules.</p><p><strong>As a followup to the Pluto flyby, the team behind NASA's mission wants to steer the spacecraft toward a Kuiper Belt object (KBO) known as 2014 MU69 and nicknamed Potential Target 1 (PT1).</strong></p><p>PT1 is one of three potential targets NASA liked. It's nearly a billion miles beyond Pluto and is only about 30 miles wide. Because New Horizons has very little fuel left, there's has a short window of opportunity to point New Horizons in the right direction - if it's not made sometime this fall, the spacecraft might miss its target years from now.</p><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table full"><div><div class="image on-image"><p class="source"><span><a href="http://pluto.jhuapl.edu/News-Center/news/pictures/NH-KBO-path.png">NASA/Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory/Southwest Research Institute/Alex Parker)</a></span></p></div><p></p></div></div></p><p>The team will begin steering New Horizons toward PT1, which is almost 4 billion miles from Earth, in October.</p><p>If the spacecraft makes it, it'd be another historic first because we've never seen anything in the Kuiper Belt up-close, save Pluto. <strong>KBOs are so far away from the sun, they're basically perfect frozen samples of the material that formed the outer Solar System 4.6 billion years ago.</strong></p><p>Before New Horizons can visit PT1 and extend the mission, though, the team needs NASA's approval and the funding to back it.</p><p>But everyone seems to be feeling upbeat about getting that approval.</p><p>"[W]e expect it to be much less expensive than the prime mission while still providing new and exciting science," John Grunsfeld, chief of NASA's science mission directorate, said in a <a href="http://pluto.jhuapl.edu/News-Center/News-Article.php?page=20150828">press release</a>.</p><p>The New Horizons mission cost about $700 million, but there aren't specific numbers on what a mission to PT1 will cost yet. Scientists want to visit a mysterious object beyond Pluto that's a celestial time capsule

<p>The <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/atlanta-traffic-jam-2014-1">horrible traffic jam</a> in Atlanta left Braves player Freddie Freeman stranded in a roadside parking lot after sitting in traffic for five hours.</p>

Chipper Jones Saved An Atlanta Braves Player Who Was Stranded In The Snowstorm

<p></p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div><p>The Labour party just suspended another two councillors over&#xa0;anti-Semitism allegations on Wednesday.</p><p>This takes the number of members who've been suspended for alleged racism since Jeremy Corbyn became leader to 18.</p><p>Newport councillor Miqdad Al-Nuaimi&#xa0;and Renfrewshire councillor Terry Kelly were&#xa0;suspended by the party pending further investigations into social media posts, according to <a href="http://news.sky.com/story/1689983/anti-semitism-row-labour-suspends-two-more" target="_blank">Sky News</a></p><p><span>These suspensions mark the latest episode in an anti-Semitism row which has engulfed the Labour party in recent weeks.</span></p><p><span>Last week, <a href="http://uk.businessinsider.com/ken-livingstone-suspended-from-labour-party-over-zionism-hitler-remarks-anti-semitisim-2016-4" target="_blank">the party suspended former London mayor Ken Livingstone</a>, who sparked outrage when he claimed Adolf Hitler was a Zionist while defending Bradford West MP Naz Shah, who was suspended earlier in the week for a Facebook post she shared in 2014 which suggested re-locating Israeli Jews to the US.</span></p><p><span><span>This clip shows Labour MP John Mann angrily confronting Livingstone prior to his appearance on the Daily <keyword id="6358883" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Politics">Politics</keyword>.</span></span></p><p><span><span><div></div></span></span></p><p class="embed-spacer">In these latest cases, published on the <a href="http://order-order.com/2016/05/04/two-more-jews-rant-labour-councillors/" target="_blank">Guido Fawkes website</a>, Mr Al-Nuaimi&#xa0;used tweets to compare Israel to the Nazis and suggested links between Israel and the so-called Islamic State.</p><p>One of the tweets, posted Feb 21 2015, read: "Jews in whose name #Israeli #Zionist regime commit war crimes should worry: it's same arrogant menality as #Nazis."</p><p><span><span><span>In another posted on March 29 this year, Al-Nuaimi said: "ISIS Leader Al Baghdadi dies in Israeli Hospital.
