Even as supplies of coal are being ramped up at power plants, supplies to non-power sector plants may be kept suspended. Southern Eastern Coalfields, a subsidiary of Coal India has finalised the supply matrix of coal rakes to critical power plants after a meeting held by the Coal Ministry. The power plants where coal rakes will be provided are Rajpura, HRVUNL, <keyword id="201425" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="kawai" source="Orion">Kawai</keyword>, <keyword id="201223" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="akaltara" source="Orion">Akaltara</keyword>, Binjkote, <keyword id="12306176" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="dspm" source="Orion">DSPM</keyword>, Pathad, Sabarmati, GSECL, Uchpanda, Annupur, <keyword id="173653" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="seoni" source="Orion">Seoni</keyword>, MPPGCL, Amrawati, <keyword id="4161340" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="warora" source="Orion">Warora</keyword>, Dhariwal, Tirora, NTPC, and <keyword id="6423479" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="mahagenco" source="Orion">Mahagenco</keyword>. Since the supplies of SECL are yet to be normalised, the supply of coal will be done equitably to these power plants. "Supplies to non-power sector plants may be kept suspended till further information," the SECL said. Meanwhile, the Aluminium Association of India (AAI) has written to Coal India on the alarming situation for the industry due to critical coal shortage and urgency for immediate resumption of coal supplies for survival of domestic industry. Despite untiring efforts of the Coal Ministry and the CIL to support the industry, the current acute coal crunch due to various factors which has created an immensely precarious situation, majorly for the highly power intensive industries like aluminium wherein coal accounts for 40 per cent of the production cost. Aluminium smelting requires uninterrupted quality power supply for production which can be met only through in-house CPPs which operate 24/7 and 365 days, and have signed FSA (Fuel Supply Agreement) with the CIL and its subsidiaries for assured long term coal supply. The recent decisions for stoppage of secured coal supplies and rakes for non-power sector is detrimental for aluminium industry and will jeopardize the sustainability as these continuous process-based plants are not designed for adhoc shut down and start of operations. Any power outage/failure (2 hours or more) results in freezing of molten aluminium in the pots which will lead to shutting down of plant for at least 6 months rendering heavy losses and restart expenses, and once restarted, will take almost a year to get desired metal purity. Aluminium is a sector of strategic importance and an essential commodity for diversified sectors crucial for nation's economy. Huge investment of Rs 1.2 lakh crore ($20 billion) have been made to double the domestic production capacity to 4.1 mtpa to cater to the country's increasing demand. The industry employs one million people and has developed 4000 SMEs in downstream sector. "The entire industry has been brought to a standstill and left with no time to devise any mitigation plan to continue sustainable operations. The coal stocks of operational plants have depleted to alarmingly low critical stocks of 2-3 days, from the level as high as 15 days in the month of April, 21, and plants are forced to operate at reduced power generation with huge risk of closure with threat of loss of huge employment and deterioration of MSMEs," the AAI said. Moreover, the ongoing global aluminium shortage due to supply demand mismatch is also adding to the woes for industry with the current coal situation in India. Adding to the plight of industry, the exponentially rise in coal prices have created a double whammy as the global coal prices have gone up exponentially and are on an upward trend while the ocean freight rates are also at all-time high. The contract also includes control and instrumentation systems. In addition, BHEL will oversee the installation and commissioning of these systems, ensuring that the projects meet all operational and performance standards. The timeline for project completion varies across the different locations. The Kawai Phase-II project is expected to be completed within 49 months, Kawai Phase-III within 52 months, and Mahan Phase-III within 55 months. These timelines reflect the scale and complexity of the projects and the commitment to delivering them within a specified period. The Supreme Court gave four weeks to the discoms to make a payment of Rs 3,048.63 crore to Adani Power, along with the interest. Sources said that in the last hearing on March 31, Adani Power had informed the apex court that Rajasthan discoms made a payment of Rs 3,000 crore to the company on March 30. The officials, who the court said would need to be personally present before it if the latest order is not complied with, are Rajasthan Urja Vikas Nigam Chairman Subodh Agarwal and its MD Bhaskar Atmaram Sawant, Jaipur Vidyut Vitran Nigam MD Navin Arora, Ajmer Vidyut Vitran Nigam MD V.S. Bhati and Jodhpur Vidyut Nigam MD Avinash Singhvi. Adani Power had signed an agreement with the Rajasthan discoms in March 2008 to set up a 1,200 MW coal-based power project near Kawai in Baran district at a cost of Rs 6,000 crore. As per the agreement, the state had to facilitate the supply of coal either from the Central government or other sources. Since it failed to do so, the company procured imported coal to supply power. The company claimed higher costs from the Rajasthan Electricity Regulatory Commission (RERC). The RERC in 2018 ordered in favour of Adani Power and directed payment of compensation by the discoms. The discoms moved the Appellate Tribunal for Electricity (Aptel), which upheld the Commission's order. The matter moved to the Supreme Court as the discoms argued that Adani Power was responsible for the fuel arrangement. Adani Power receives ₹3,000 crore dues from Rajasthan government

New Delhi, Apr 1 () Adani Foundation has contributed Rs 50 lakh towards ISKCON, Dwarka, to feed the underprivileged population in the national capital. "As India grapples with a lockdown to arrest the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, it is the poor and the daily wagers who are the most adversely affected. ISKCON is providing meals to more than 1 lakh people on a daily basis. The foundation's financial aid will boost their efforts as it plans to reach out to more than 4 lakh people daily in the near future," according a statement by the company. Adani Foundation, the philanthropy arm of the infrastructure conglomerate Adani Group, is feeding this section of the society through community kitchens and canteens being run in various sites across the country where it is operational. More than 11,000 packets of food and ration are being distributed each day at Mundra (Gujarat), Godda (Jharkhand), Kawai (Rajasthan), Dhamra (Odisha) and Vizhinjam (Kerala) every day. "A total of 20,883 labourers and people in rural communities are given meals each day. Adani Foundation is also providing ration supplies to community kitchens that are running in full force to feed the communities," it said. Amid all the widespread measures being taken to contain the COVID-19 outbreak in India, Adani Foundation has stepped up to guard the health and well-being of the rural population at various locations. It has provided personal protection kits for the health workers and doctors at the SVP Hospital in Ahmedabad, to ensure the safety of medical professionals who are working tirelessly. More than 1,000 masks were distributed to police personnel and health workers in Ahmedabad city, while more than 400 packets of food, mineral water and sanitary kits are being provided at various locations in the city, it said. Adani Foundation is also sanitising public spaces in villages near Kawai (Rajasthan), Godda (Jharakhand) and Raipur (Chhattisgarh). With support from the district administration of Godda, Jharkhand, 100 women from the foundation's Phoolo Jhano Saksham Ajivika Sakhi Mandal (PJSASM) are engaged in making masks. This self-help group (SHG) of women who were imparted training at Adani Skill Development Centres are now working day and night to ensure the production of 1 lakh masks which are to be handed over to the district administration. Adani Foundation is also helping the district administration to sanitise public places in the district. "Masks are also being produced by the women's co-operative group Mahila Udyami Bahudeshiy Sahakari Samiti, in Surguja, Chhattisgarh. Total income of the company rose to ₹6,902.01 crore in the quarter from ₹6,327.57 crore in the same period a year ago. For the entire fiscal year (2020-21), the company's consolidated net profit stood at ₹1,269.98 crore. It had reported a loss of ₹2,274.77 crore in 2019-20. Total income in 2020-21 came in at ₹28,149,68 crore as compared to ₹27,841.81 crore in 2019-20. During fourth quarter of 2020-21, Adani Power, along with the power plants of its subsidiaries achieved an Average Plant Load Factor (PLF or capacity utilisation) of 59.6 pe cent, and aggregate sales volumes of 14.8 Billion Units (BU). In comparison, during the fourth quarter of 2019-20, Adani Power and its subsidiaries achieved an average PLF of 65.5 per cent and sales volume of 16.5 BU. Operating performance was affected due to lower merchant sales and grid backdown in various plants, as well as reserve, shutdown at <keyword id="48302" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Udupi">Udupi</keyword> due to higher penetration of renewables, the company said. You don't have to take it word for word."The insistence by Trump's and Duterte's advisers that there is gulf between what they say and what they mean has injected uncertainty into expectations about what policies their administrations will pursue.Doubts created by Duterte about his attitude toward ties with the US seem to be dispelled, as the Philippine president <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/rodridog-duterte-reacts-to-donald-trump-effect-on-philippines-economy-2016-11" target="_blank">reacted warmly to Trump's election</a>.
