Suresh Kumar on Wednesday said that the state will hold the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) Board Examination (Class 10) for the 2020-21 academic year in the first week of June while the board examination of Pre-University Course (PUC II/Class 12) will be held in the second week of May. The minister took to his official Twitter handle to break the news on Wednesday evening and added that all the details regarding the exam, and the syllabus will be sent to <keyword id="37180" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="schools">schools</keyword> by the government. Karnataka decided to reopen its schools and PU colleges after a prolonged closedown of over nine months due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Schools for students studying in Class 10 and 12 and the Vidyagama for Class 6 to 9 reopened on January 1. Since the schools reopened, attendance continues to grow among Class 10, 12 and Vidyagama students. Of the 4,24,250 students enrolled in 5,492 PU colleges in the state, as many as 2,42,886 (57.25 per cent) were present and out of 9,29,130 enrolled in Class 10 in 16,850 high schools of the <keyword id="162026" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="state-board">state board</keyword>, as many as 4,77,051, (51.34 per cent) were present on Tuesday. Vidyagama saw an attendance of 6,30,557 students which was more than the four lakh odd students that were present on Monday. Yediyurappa declared on Saturday that the US-based electric vehicle and clean energy company <keyword id="107096" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Tesla">Tesla</keyword> will set up its <keyword id="396318" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="production-unit">production unit</keyword> here. "American car company Tesla will set up its <keyword id="10759466" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="electric-car-division">electric car division</keyword> in Karnataka," Yediyurappa said in a statement, which mainly aimed at appreciating the Union Budget that was presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on February 1. On January 12, Yediyurappa had tweeted from his official handle that Tesla would start its operations in India with an R&amp;D unit in Bengaluru. But the Tweet was deleted after a couple of hours by which time it had garnered more than 8,500 likes and 1,800 retweets. The world's richest man was replying to a tweet linked to a blog post on the Tesla fan site, Tesmanian, which noted that Tesla cars will be expensive for Indians but the cars will become more affordable for the country's middle class when the company starts production within India. In the statement released in appreciation of the Union Budget, Yediyurappa said that the state would get Rs 10.904 crore for 33 national highway projects spanning 1,197 km. In north Karnataka, 13 highway projects worth Rs 21,000 crore have been cleared. These projects were announced much before the Union government tabled its budget. The CM said an industrial corridor is coming up at Tumakuru at a cost of ₹7,725 crore that would generate 2.8 lakh jobs. He added that the state will get basic infrastructure updates worth ₹1.16 lakh crore in the 2021-22 fiscal year. "Bengaluru will receive ₹14,788 crore for Phase 2 of the Namma Metro project and ₹23,093 crore for the suburban rail project. For other railway projects, the state will get ₹4,870 crore," he said. Describing it as a historic budget, he said that the tunnel project at Shiradi Ghat connecting Bengaluru and Mangaluru has been approved. "₹10,000 crore will be released for the 13 km tunnel," the CM said. Karnataka reports 115 more deaths due to COVID-19

Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], September 15 (ANI): In view of the <keyword id="6544034" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Nipah-virus" source="Orion">Nipah virus</keyword> cases in Kerala, the <keyword id="2234081" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Karnataka-health-department" source="Orion">Karnataka Health Department</keyword> issued a circular on Thursday to intensify surveillance in the districts bordering Kerala to prevent the transmission of the infection. With one more case of <keyword id="6545212" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Nipah" source="Orion">Nipah</keyword> virus confirmed in Kerala's Kozhikode on Friday, the total tally is now at 6, including 2 deaths. All cases have been recorded in Kozhikode. In the circular, the Karnataka Health Department advised district authorities to "Set up check posts for fever surveillance at points of entry from Karnataka to Kerala. Intensify fever surveillance in bordering districts such as Chamarajanagar, Mysore, Kodagu, and Dakshin Kannada." Moreover, the Karnataka Health Department has advised people to avoid unnecessary travel from Karnataka to affected areas in Kerala. Amid concerns over the <keyword id="6544038" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Nipah-virus-in-Kerala" source="Orion">Nipah virus in Kerala</keyword>, the Kerala government on Thursday took 15 body-fluid samples of those in the 'high-risk' contact list linked to the first Nipah victim for testing. Four people in high-risk categories are in a private hospital, and 17 people are under surveillance at Kozhikode Medical College.
