We made no eye contact before," she said in an Instagram post.</li></ul><p><keyword id="13408161" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="karen-fukuhara" source="Orion">Karen Fukuhara</keyword> says she was the victim of a hate crime attack outside of a cafe on Wednesday.</p><p>In <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/CbLlCzRPUgn/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;ig_rid=df44f6d4-781b-428c-a8f7-e463aec8861b">a post on her Instagram account</a> that went up on the same day, "The Boys" star wrote that she was "struck in the head by a man" but that she's "physically fine" after the attack.</p><p>"This shit needs to stop," she continued. "Us women, Asians, the elderly need your help."</p><p>"I was walking to a cafe for some coffee and a man struck me in the back of my head," Fukuhara continued in her social media post. "It came out of nowhere. We made no eye contact before, I wasn't doing anything out of the ordinary. It came to my surprise and my hat flew off. By the time I looked back, he was a few feet away from me (he must have kept walking after hitting me)."</p><p>Fukuhara did not disclose where this took place or indicate if she reported the incident to authorities. Insider contacted her representative for further comment but didn't get an immediate response.</p><p>"I thought about confronting him first but he started coming towards me and I didn't think it was worth the risk," Fukuhara wrote. "After a few seconds of staring at each other, and him yelling at me, he eventually walked away."</p><p>Fukuhara, who used the hashtag #StopAsianHate in the post, said that this was the first time she's been "harmed physically" though "racial slurs and hurtful actions have been directed to me in the past." The actress, who is also known for playing Katana in 2016's "Suicide Squad" and will next be seen in the Brad Pitt movie "Bullet Train," said this incident has made her think about taking self-defense classes.</p><p>"I write this, because I've had conversations with multi-racial friends of mine that had no idea these hate crimes happen to everyday, regular people — people that they share meals with," she wrote. "I felt it was important to raise awareness."</p><p>"What satisfaction are these perpetrators getting from hitting women, Asians, the elderly?" she continued. "They need to be held accountable. What can we do as a community to prevent these horrible crimes?"</p><p>Others actors in the AAPI community wrote on Fukuhara's post words of condolences. "I am so sorry this happened to you and glad you are ok," actor Jamie Chung wrote. "I know mentally this is going to take some time to heal."</p><p>Actor Olivia Munn commented, "I'm so grateful you're safe." Fukuhara's "The Boys" co-stars, including Jack Quaid and Chase Crawford, also commented on the post with their sympathies.</p><p>There has been a <a href="https://www.insider.com/category/anti-asian-violence">surge of Anti-Asian violence in the US</a> in recent years, particularly since the start of the pandemic. 'The Boys' star Karen Fukuhara says she was assaulted in a hate crime attack: 'Us women, Asians, the elderly need your help'

<ul class="summary-list"><li>Warning: There are major spoilers ahead for season two of <keyword id="2976376" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Amazon-Prime-Video">Amazon Prime Video</keyword>'s "<keyword id="9349764" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="the-boys">The Boys</keyword>."</li><li><keyword id="2814012" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Karen-Fukuhara">Karen Fukuhara</keyword>, who stars as Kimiko Miyashiro, spoke to Insider about working with sign language coach Amanda Richer to create her character's sign language on this season.</li><li>The sign language that Kimiko uses to communicate with her brother was created specifically for the show. </li><li>Fukuhara told us that signing is "so powerful" and working with Richer informed her approach to portraying Kimiko on season two.</li></ul><p><a href="https://www.insider.com/category/the-boys">"The Boys"</a> star <a href="https://www.insider.com/category/karen-fukuhara">Karen Fukuhara</a> spoke to <a href="https://www.insider.com/">Insider</a> about crafting Kimiko Miyashiro's <a href="https://www.insider.com/the-boys-amazon-season-2-fun-facts-behind-the-scenes-details">unique sign language</a> for season two of the hit Amazon Prime Video show. </p><p>"I got to work with Amanda Richer, who was the sign language coach for Sally [Hawkins] on 'The Shape of Water,' and she is phenomenal because she's the one who's creating the language," the 28-year-old actress told <a href="https://www.insider.com/">Insider</a>.</p><p>Fukuhara's character was first introduced during season one of the show, which is based on Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson's comic-book series of the same name.</p><p>The show's rag-tag vigilante group, known as The Boys, discovered Kimiko in a basement and learned that she was injected with Compound V, which gave her special abilities like super speed and regenerative healing. </p><div type="image" title="the boys 205 kimiko" height="799" width="1065" msid="78438599" hostid="261"></div><p>This season has revealed more of Kimiko's layers, particularly through the introduction of her younger brother, Kenji Miyashiro (Abraham Lim). The siblings finally reunited after years of being separated and Kimiko communicated with him via a special sign language that was created just for the show.</p><p>"We have a whole vocabulary list, if you will, of Kimiko and Kenji's language," Fukuhara told us.</p><p>The actress went on to explain that though her experience of learning sign language, she learned how "powerful" it is.</p><p>"Going into it, I didn't think that signing could be as powerful as it is," Fukuhara said. "When Kimiko's trying to get the point across to Kenji in episodes two and three, she's really pouring her heart out and it's through signing, because she can't speak, and it's so powerful."</p><div type="image" title="the boys 202 kimiko sign language " height="1185" width="1581" msid="78438601" hostid="261"></div><p>Fukuhara went on to say that working with Richer informed her approach to portraying Kimiko this season. </p><p>"I think what helped is Amanda sharing her own experiences with me," she told us. "That helped me gain insight on what it's like to live in this society that doesn't really cater to people that have disabilities and feeling like the 'other' person."</p><p>"Those stories really fueled Kimiko's psyche and my preparation for the character this season. It really meant a lot for me to be able to work with her."</p><p>The first three episodes of season two of "The Boys" were released in early September, with new episodes dropping weekly. 'The Boys' star Karen Fukuhara talks about creating Kimiko's 'powerful' sign language on season 2

<ul class="summary-list"><li>"The Boys" showrunner Eric Kripke called out fans who trolled Erin Moriarty about her appearance.</li><li>Moriarty shared on Instagram that she feels "dehumanized" by the comments.</li></ul><p>"The Boys" creator Eric Kripke has spoken out in defense of lead actress Erin Moriarty after <a href="https://www.insider.com/the-boys-star-erin-moriarty-feels-dehumanized-by-fan-trolling-2022-9">she being trolled by fans about her appearance.</a></p><p>Earlier this week, the Starlight actor <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/CiMAC6wu7DK/">wrote on Instagram that she felt</a> "dehumanized" and "silenced" after receiving hurtful messages about her appearance, which increased after the release of the third season. Moriarty also shared screenshots of a Medium article titled <a href="https://medium.com/@butcherscanary/istandwithstarlight-the-betrayal-of-erin-moriarty-by-the-boys-fans-c47c3c4323b9">"#IStandWithStarlight?: The betrayal of Erin Moriarty by The Boys 'fans',"</a> which criticized the "misogyny" Moriarty has received. </p><p>On Wednesday, Kripke, the showrunner of the series based on a mid-2000s comic book, told fans to "be kind" or stop watching the show.</p><p>"Hi trolls! One, this is literally the opposite of the show's fucking message," he tweeted. "Two, you're causing pain to real people with real feelings. Be kind. If you can't be kind, then eat a bag of dicks, fuck off to the sun &amp; don't watch #TheBoys, we don't want you."</p><p>In Moriarty's original post, she wrote: "I do feel silenced. I do feel dehumanized. I do feel paralyzed. I've put blood, sweat, and tears into this role (over &amp; over &amp; over again), I've grown UP in this character's shoes (*emphasis on grown up - we change &amp; evolve mentally AND physically)."</p><p>She continued: "So with that I say: a) thank you to @butcherscanary b) this does break my heart - I've opened up a vein for this role and this kind of trolling is exactly what this role (Annie) would speak out against and c) everyone's going through their own battle(s); let's not add to that. 'The Boys' creator calls out fans trolling Erin Moriarty and tells them to stop watching: 'We don't want you'

<ul class="summary-list"><li>"<keyword id="11916582" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="the-boys" source="Orion">The Boys</keyword>" cast appeared at <keyword id="12274253" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="new-york-comic-con" source="Orion">New York Comic Con</keyword> on Friday for a panel on the first two seasons of the show.</li><li>Chace Crawford, Antony Starr, Jack Quaid, Karen Fukuhara, and Erin Moriarty shared behind-the-scenes details.</li></ul><p>The cast of "<a href="https://www.insider.com/category/the-boys">The Boys</a>" appeared in person at <a href="https://www.insider.com/category/new-york-comic-con">New York Comic Con</a> and had no shortage of fun stories to share about the making of the hit <a href="https://www.insider.com/category/amazon-prime-video">Amazon Prime Video</a> show. </p><p>Actors <a href="https://www.insider.com/category/antony-starr">Antony Starr</a> (Homelander), <a href="https://www.insider.com/category/chace-crawford">Chace Crawford</a> (The Deep), <a href="https://www.insider.com/category/jack-quaid">Jack Quaid</a> (Hughie Campbell), <a href="https://www.insider.com/category/karen-fukuhara">Karen Fukuhara</a> (Kimiko), and <a href="https://www.insider.com/category/erin-moriarty">Erin Moriarty</a> (Starlight/Annie January) appeared at the Empire Stage of the Javits Center on Friday afternoon to discuss the first two seasons of the irreverent superhero series. </p><p>The stars reminisced about the making of the <a href="https://www.insider.com/the-boys-season-2-unanswered-questions-2020-10">first two seasons</a> of the show, careful to avoid giving away any details about the highly anticipated <a href="https://www.insider.com/the-boys-season-3-amazon-details-information-2020-9">third season</a> (of which the premiere date has yet to be revealed).</p><p>Insider was in attendance at the retrospective panel to witness the hilarity that ensued and the reactions from the audience, ranging from roaring laughter to "awws" of pity. Here are the highlights. </p><h2>Quaid recalled being thrown off by 'The Boys' executive producer Seth Rogen reading Butcher's lines with him during his audition </h2><div type="image" title="Jack Quaid speaking at a panel for &quot;The Boys&quot; at New York Comic Con 2021." height="1365" width="1820" msid="86880928" hostid="261"></div><p>"I remember I was so nervous, I was pacing around. And all of a sudden, he hadn't shown up yet, and I just heard his laugh in the distance," Quaid recalled, giving a dead-on impersonation of the actor.</p><p>"I had to audition for him and he's like a hero of mine and he read Butcher's lines. There's nothing more surreal than auditioning for one of your heroes and having that voice read like hard-core cockney slang," referring to Butcher's no-nonsense lines being recited by the jovial, often giggling Rogen.</p><p>"I didn't know what world I was in. That was a strange one." </p><h2><strong>The cast was freaked out by Crawford's prosthetic chest piece, which included gills and body hair</strong></h2><p><strong><div type="image" title="Antony Starr, Chace Crawford, and Jack Quaid speaking at a panel for &quot;The Boys&quot; at New York Comic Con 2021." height="1365" width="2048" msid="86880929" hostid="261"></div></strong></p><p>For most of the show, Crawford wears a dark-green supe suit. But during season one, he appeared shirtless in a scene in which his character was sexually assaulted via the gills on his chest. </p><p>In reality, Crawford had a prosthetic piece that was a replica of his own torso, "down to the little chest hair," the actor previously recalled during a <a href="https://variety.com/2020/tv/actors/penn-badgley-chase-crawford-gossip-girl-1234693225/">conversation with Penn Badgley</a>. The prosthetic also had air pumps so the gills could move and appear lifelike.  </p><p>"They built a prosthetic chest for that scene and every day for like, three weeks, it was just sitting in the hair and makeup trailer," Quaid said at <keyword id="12274255" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="nycc" source="Orion">NYCC</keyword>. "So the first thing I saw for three weeks every single day was a severed Chace Crawford-with-gills chest. It drove me insane."</p><p>"It was traumatizing," Moriarty chimed in, as Fukuhara mentioned how "hairy it was."</p><p>"That's when you know we're doing really significant, topical work, when you're de-stigmatizing certain fetishes," Moriarty added. "I would not be surprised if there would be a gill category on PornHub after that."</p><h2><strong>Fukuhara and Quaid are grateful to not wear uncomfortable supe suits, but they could do without being covered in fake blood that attracts bees</strong></h2><p><strong><div type="image" title="Jack Quaid and Karen Fukuhara speaking at a panel for &quot;The Boys&quot; at New York Comic Con 2021." height="1365" width="2048" msid="86880932" hostid="261"></div></strong></p><p>"We are always covered in blood, so it's always sticky," Fukuhara said. "There's bees everywhere, they're attracted to the sweetness in the blood makeup."</p><p>Quaid added: "There's a time in Toronto when there are bees everywhere, and they love us because we're the sweetest thing there is, to them."</p><h2><strong>The stars said that Black Noir actor Nathan Mitchell often falls asleep on set, even when the cameras are rolling.</strong></h2><p><strong><div type="image" title="Chace Crawford speaking at a panel for &quot;The Boys&quot; at New York Comic Con 2021." height="1173" width="1565" msid="86880933" hostid="261"></div></strong></p><p>Crawford said that if he could trade costumes with anyone, he'd want to be Black Noir so he could covertly take naps without anyone noticing. </p><p>"Nathan has literally fallen asleep in the middle of scenes," Starr said.</p><p>"I will say, there's a moment in season three - this gives away no spoilers - where all of a sudden I tap the person sitting to my left and Nathan, who plays Noir, is sitting in front of me and I just see his head going [Moriarty imitates head lulling forward] while the camera is rolling," Moriarty added.</p><h2><strong>Moriarty feels like her organs are being compressed when she wears the Starlight 2.0 costume after eating lunch </strong></h2><div type="image" title="Erin Moriarty speaking at a panel for &quot;The Boys&quot; at New York Comic Con 2021." height="1365" width="2048" msid="86880934" hostid="261"></div><p>"After lunch, that bloat makes me feel like my organs are being squeezed," Moriarty said.</p><p>"But it looks good," Fukuhara said.</p><p>Moriarty previously opened up about the struggles of her supe suit during an <a href="https://www.insider.com/the-boys-erin-moriarty-starlight-suit-challenges-season-two-interview-2020-10">interview with Insider</a> for season two of the show, saying that putting it on "never gets easier" and it's mostly "a matter of patience."</p><h2>Starr spoke candidly about his season 2 sex scene with Aya Cash (Stormfront), which was far more challenging than it looks, and got out of his seat to paint the picture to the NYCC audience</h2><div type="image" title="Anthony Starr at a panel for &quot;The Boys&quot; at New York Comic Con 2021." height="900" width="1200" msid="86880936" hostid="261"></div><p>"You're trying to look kind of sexy in a sex scene," Starr said of the moment between the two characters, which involved them having passionate and violent sex in the air thanks to their levitating powers. </p><p>Starr said that in order to film the scene, he and Cash had to wear harnesses near their lower regions that "can be very damaging if you don't get it in the right spot."</p><p>Then, the actor got out of his chair and demonstrated how unglamorous it was to film such an intimate moment while harnessed in the air.</p><p>"You could see people on the ground just going, 'What the fuck is he doing? What is going on up there?'" Starr recalled. "And then we kept giggling as well. Me and Aya get on really well, so we kept giggling."</p><p>Starr went on to give an impression of showrunner Eric Kripke telling the actors that although they were having fun, it was imperative for them to focus and complete the scene.</p><p>"I don't know what kind of moment that was, but it fucking happened," Starr said.  </p><p>"It will be in my nightmares tonight," Quaid joked about Starr acting out the sex scene thrusts while on stage at NYCC. </p><h2>Moriarty and Quaid vividly recalled making pterodactyl noises on set when they became delirious from long hours of filming </h2><div type="image" title="Jack Quaid, Karen Fukuhara, and Erin Moriarty speaking at a panel for &quot;The Boys&quot; at New York Comic Con 2021." height="1365" width="2048" msid="86880937" hostid="261"></div><p>"Jack and I are just children on set," Moriarty said.</p><p>"All we do is make pterodactyl noises in the background," Quaid explained. "We do this thing where we're all shooting, people are moving things around, it's like 3 in the morning and we're deliriously tired. We will just make these shrieks and see if anyone notices. It's a really terrible habit."</p><p>"They're really on point," Moriarty said of their imitations, as she and Quaid gave the crowd a taste of their pterodactyl impressions.</p><p>The stars also said that while filming the season two finale, they kept making the animal noises so loudly, to the point where an assistant director yelled in annoyance.</p><p>"It felt like we were committing a crime," Quaid said. </p><h2>Fukuhara and Moriarty loved filming the scene in which the female characters beat up Stormfront on the season 2 finale</h2><div type="image" title="Karen Fukuhara speaking at a panel for &quot;The Boys&quot; at New York Comic Con 2021." height="1160" width="1547" msid="86880938" hostid="261"></div><p>The satisfying moment involved Starlight, Kimiko, and Queen Maeve (Dominique McElligott) taking down the evil supe as the male characters watched in amazement.  </p><p>Fukuhara said she thought the scene was "fucking great" when she first read it in the script.</p><p>"For my character at least, I spent the entire season mad dogging Stormfront and I was so happy to see that we were getting the revenge that she deserved," the actress said. </p><p>Moriarty said that the highlight for her was getting to shout violently while rerecording her lines for the scene during a studio session, <a href="https://www.studiobinder.com/blog/what-is-adr-in-film/">known as ADR</a>.</p><p>"I had to do ADR for the fight and I got to spend a full hour of my life yelling into a microphone saying things like, 'Eat my shit, you Nazi bitch!'" she said. "I was like, this is cathartic. Who needs therapy? That was my favorite part, just yelling that type of shit into a mic. So I loved that. I mean, I loved every part, but that was the catharsis that I needed." </p>

'The Boys' cast reflects on the challenges of filming a sex scene in the air and the 'cathartic' experience of beating up bad guys

<ul class="summary-list"><li>"<keyword id="9349764" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="the-boys">The Boys</keyword>" star Aya Cash spoke to Insider about her "beautiful" Stormfront suit, which also made it difficult to go to the bathroom.</li><li>"It took 15 to 20 minutes for me to pee, so I would be waiting and going like, 'OK, 45-minute warning, I have to pee,'" the actress recalled.</li><li>Cash added that "at one point, it took two and a half hours for them to let me pee once."</li><li>The actress said that the wardrobe department didn't realize the issue until about halfway through production, so they "cut the suit in half for me so I was able to pee with much more ease."</li></ul><p><a href="https://www.insider.com/category/the-boys">"The Boys"</a> star Aya Cash's Stormfront suit might look sleek, but it's far from comfortable. </p><p>"It's not like wearing sweatpants, that's for sure," Cash, who joined the hit <keyword id="2976376" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Amazon-Prime-Video">Amazon Prime Video</keyword> show during season two, told <a href="https://www.insider.com/">Insider</a>.</p><p>The actress continued: "It also changes the way you walk. The show received rave reviews from fans and critics and returned for season two in September 2020. The eight-episode season concludes on Friday, October 9. </p><p>Cash's Stormfront suit that she wears on season two includes red accents on the knees and arms, a silver belt, sturdy black boots, and a billowing cape.</p><p>The actress told Insider that the intricate outfit posed an issue when it came to using the bathroom, which is something the wardrobe department didn't realize until about halfway through production. </p><p>"It took 15 to 20 minutes for me to pee, so I would be waiting and going like, 'OK, 45-minute warning, I have to pee,'" the actress recalled. 'The Boys' star Aya Cash says they had to cut her supe suit in half so she could pee more easily

<ul class="summary-list"><li>Warning: There are major spoilers ahead for season two of <keyword id="2976376" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Amazon-Prime-Video">Amazon Prime Video</keyword>'s "<keyword id="9349764" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="the-boys">The Boys</keyword>."</li><li>Stars Aya Cash (Stormfront) and Colby Minifie (Ashley Barrett) spoke to Insider about how the hit show, based on a comic-book series, mirrors real-life events in the world.</li><li>"There are things happening in our world on social media, and there are things happening with the way that hate speech is spread that this season is pointing at," Cash told us. </li><li>Season two tackles white privilege, systemic racism, white supremacy, and the effects of trauma.</li></ul><p>Amazon Prime Video's <a href="https://www.insider.com/category/the-boys">"The Boys"</a> might be set in a fictional world where superheroes are real, but it has startling similarities to the real world.</p><p>"I hope that people see the world reflected and refracted, because this is obviously a heightened world and people have superpowers and there's a fantastical element to it," Aya Cash, who joined season two as a supe named Stormfront, told <a href="https://www.insider.com/">Insider</a>.</p><p>"The Boys," which is based on Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson comic-book series, debuted on Amazon in July 2019. The first few episodes of season two premiered in early September, with new episodes dropping weekly. It culminates in a finale that will hit the streamer on Friday, October 9. </p><p>Season two continues to push boundaries by tackling white privilege, systemic racism, white supremacy, and the effects of trauma.</p><p>The return of Minifie's character, Ashley Barrett, provides a grounded look at how the supes — most of whom are far from the wholesome and clean-cut personas they've crafted for the public — impact those around them. </p><div type="image" title="the boys 202 ashley girls get it done press" height="995" width="1327" msid="78452745" hostid="261"></div><p>Ashley, who was fired by Madelyn Stillwell (Elisabeth Shue) during season one, returned this season thanks to Homelander (Antony Starr). Her new position at Vought takes a toll on Ashley as she scrambles to do damage-control, preserve the supes' public images, and protect herself from being killed at any moment by Homelander (who calls her "dispensable").</p><p>The stress of her new role as the mediator between the supes and the Vought executives results in Ashley losing her hair as season two goes on. Minifie told us that she somewhat related to her character's journey.</p><p>"I felt like Ashley a little bit, in that I was so excited to get this huge job," Minifie said. "Ashley had a different trajectory than I did, in that she gets this amazing job and she is immediately met with, 'Oh, my life is on the line. My life is at risk. And I'm trying to control these people who could kill me at any second.'"</p><p>The actress added: "That is not my experience, but I just had a blast trying to figure out the internal repercussions of that amount of stress and what that can do to your body, and hair loss just seemed like a great option."</p><div type="image" title="the boys 201 homelander ashley" height="1138" width="2748" msid="78452748" hostid="261"></div><p>Stormfront's arrival also shakes up the status quo on season two.</p><p>She was initially introduced as a forward-thinking, tech-savvy supe with a loyal group of followers who call themselves Storm Chasers. She wields the power of social media to share relatable memes and bash Vought International's money-hungry strategies, among other things.</p><p>Stormfront speaks with confidence when addressing crowds and spreads hateful rhetoric against marginalized people, which incites violence and hate crimes. It's eerily similar to the current landscape and shows how people in positions of power can negatively influence the masses.</p><div type="image" title="the boys 204 hq stormfront" height="1245" width="1660" msid="78452752" hostid="261"></div><p>"I do think that there are things happening in our world with misinformation," Cash told us. 'The Boys' stars Aya Cash and Colby Minifie talk about the real-world events shaping season 2

She solved local crimes, competed in superhero pageants, and attended the bible camp, Capes for Christ. Her whole reason for auditioning to be part of The Seven, a prestigious "supe" group that's run by Vought International, was to carry out this mission of saving others with her supposedly God-given superpowers.</p><p>While Annie was initially thrilled to join The Seven, she quickly learned that her colleagues are far from the moral figures they pretend to be in public.</p><p>"I think that she kind of came to this point of having to figure out whether she was going to give up and be defeated by it, because it really is just not the world she expected, or summon a strength inside her she didn't know existed," Moriarity said.</p><div type="image" title="the boys 205 stormfront starlight queen maeve" height="1055" width="1407" msid="78500110" hostid="261"></div><p>After being inducted into the group, Starlight was sexually assaulted by another supe called The Deep (<a href="https://www.insider.com/category/chace-crawford">Chace Crawford</a>). She learns in season two that she wasn't born with her powers, but her mother worked with Vought to give her an experimental superhero-making drug called Compound V as a baby.</p><p>And the one person who she thought she could count on, Hughie Campbell (<a href="https://www.insider.com/category/jack-quaid">Jack Quaid</a>), lied to her on multiple occasions.</p><p>"I think that the end of season one and what happens to her in terms of her heartbreak with Hughie and the heartbreak that she experiences with her mother as well as going through sexual abuse in season one, I do think adversity builds character and strength," Moriarty told Insider.</p><div type="image" title="the boys 205 starlight 8" height="921" width="1229" msid="78500113" hostid="261"></div><p>Throughout season two, Starlight's character arc is much darker. She blackmails an old bible school friend and supe so she can get a sample of Compound V and threatens new Seven member Stormfront (Aya Cash). She even teams up with The Boys for missions and accidentally kills a man with her energy blast.</p><p>"Maybe once I would have cried over him, but now he was just another person in our way," Starlight says of the man who she unintentionally killed during episode six.</p><p>Moriarty said that Starlight's evolution this season is a byproduct of the experiences and revelations from season one. Plus, her character is no longer the starry-eyed girl from the Midwest who thought that supes were admirable people. </p><p>"I think that by the end of season one, she has, through adversity, built enough strength to be able to adapt to the world and rewire her way of thinking so that she is still on track to attain her mission of making the world a better place," Moriarty told us.</p><p>"But the means by which she achieves that mission has to change and she deals with it. She adapts. She summons a dark side of herself," she added.</p><p>"The Boys," which is based on Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson comic-book series, debuted on Amazon in July 2019 to rave reviews. There were other nods to Solider Boy seen later on during season two. </p><p>As for what to expect from the Soldier Boy, "<a href="https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08F82RVYD?tag=biip_101320_amazon-prime-day-2020-20&amp;linkCode=ogi&amp;th=1&amp;psc=1" rel="nofollow sponsored nofollow sponsored nofollow sponsored">The Boys"</a> showrunner Eric Kripke <a href="https://twitter.com/therealKripke/status/1315460866909773825">revealed</a> during a Twitter Q&amp;A that he's "gonna be swearing a lot and doing a lot of filthy things. There may or may not be a little sex involved. "He's from the '40s. He fought in World War II, and he's just this curmudgeon, bigoted asshole."</p><p>"He doesn't age, so he's this 40-year-old superhero who's really 80 years old or 90 years old," Ackles added. </p><p>The actor said that when his character appears on season three, he's "been essentially in captivity for a while," hence the beard he grew for the role.</p><p>"I look like [I'm from the movie] 'Cast Away,' but then they clean me up and I get my superhero outfit back on and I go to town," Ackles teased.</p><h2>Homelander will feel threatened by Soldier Boy</h2><div type="image" title="the boys 207 homelander" height="1071" width="1428" msid="78818970" hostid="261"></div><p>Kripke also <a href="https://twitter.com/therealKripke/status/1315462147124588551">said</a> that Homelander will feel threatened by the supe because he's "pretty close in power to Homelander and was basically Homelander before Homelander, and for a much longer period of time."</p><p>"I think he is really threatened, not just by his strength, but that Solider Boy really is a huge <keyword id="6355064" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="Celebrity" source="Orion">celebrity</keyword> and part of America," he added. </p><p>Coincidentally, Kripke is also the person who created "Supernatural," which is one of <a href="https://www.insider.com/longest-running-tv-shows-all-time-2018-1">the longest-running American TV shows of all time</a>.</p><h2>Soldier Boy will be joined by his own supe group called Payback</h2><div type="image" title="the boys 207 detail soldier boy statue" height="723" width="964" msid="78581996" hostid="261"></div><p>This detail was revealed in a cover story for <a href="https://ew.com/tv/the-boys-season-2-finale-digital-cover/">Entertainment Weekly</a> that was released after the season two finale drop.</p><p>The introduction of Payback is also inspired by the comics. In the source material, the group featured supes like Eagle the Archer (who was played on season two of the show by Langston Kerman), Crimson Countess, and Tek Knight.</p><p>It's unclear what the Payback lineup will be on the series, but Kripke told EW that the group "was the Seven before the Seven. We will be exploring the history of that team and all the members in it."</p><h2>Madelyn Stillwell's baby, Teddy, will return</h2><div type="image" title="the boys 201 teddy" height="1170" width="1561" msid="78818971" hostid="261"></div><p>Stillwell (Elisabeth Shue) raised her baby on her own during season one, much to Homelander's annoyance. On the season two premiere, Teddy briefly appeared during a report on the news that revealed he was found safe 17 miles away, despite Stillwell's house exploding on the season one finale.</p><p>Kripke <a href="https://twitter.com/therealKripke/status/1315459942317400064">said</a> on Twitter that Teddy "will be making an appearance in season three. I've seen the script. Teddy is alive." </p><h2>You can expect to see Love Sausage again</h2><div type="image" title="the boys 206 love sausage" height="1171" width="1562" msid="78818972" hostid="261"></div><p>Love Sausage (Andrew Jackson), a supe from the comics, appeared at Sage Grove during episode six when he attacked Mother's Milk (Laz Alonso) with his extra-long genitals.</p><p>On <a href="https://twitter.com/therealKripke/status/1315466901217185792">Twitter</a>, Kripke said that "it's hard to bring him in as a regular character because he's so fucking absurd," but he'll return for season three. </p><h2>Fans will learn more about Kimiko's interests</h2><div type="image" title="the boys season 2 kimiko 1" height="1333" width="1778" msid="78136447" hostid="261"></div><p>On season two, fans saw Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara) learn to write in English, reunite with her brother, and communicate via a <a href="https://www.insider.com/the-boys-karen-fukuhara-kimiko-sign-language-season-2-interview-2020-10">special sign language</a>. But little has been revealed about her likes and dislikes. </p><p>During an interview for <a href="https://ew.com/tv/karne-fukuhara-the-boys-season-3-musical-theater/">Entertainment Weekly</a>, Kripke said: "We figured it out for season three what her favorite movies are, and she loves Hollywood musicals. That's her thing. She'll be watching like 'Seven Brides for Seven Brothers' or 'West Side Story.'"</p><h2>It's unclear if Aya Cash will return as Stormfront, but the character is not dead</h2><div type="image" title="the boys 204 hq stormfront" height="1245" width="1660" msid="78581997" hostid="261"></div><p>On the season two finale, Ryan (Cameron Crovetti) severed Stormfront's limbs and burned her face. She looked to be on the brink of death as she began babbling in German, but not quite dead. </p><p>Kripke told <a href="https://ew.com/tv/the-boys-season-2-finale-digital-cover/">EW</a> that the Nazi is "not dead. She's just a stump." Meanwhile, Cash told the publication that she signed on for one season of the show. </p><p>"I think they've left the door open, but I also feel like there's not much left of her," the actress said. "She's not technically dead, but I think you'll just have to see season 3 to find out what happened to her, [or] if she's going to be around at all in her smaller form."</p><h2>'The Boys' will take inspiration from the comics for the upcoming season </h2><div type="image" title="the boys 202 butcher mm hughie" height="1232" width="1642" msid="78818973" hostid="261"></div><p>During season two, The Boys planned and plotted from a pawn shop basement. But in the comics, the vigilantes operate from the Flatiron Building in New York City. </p><p>In an <a href="https://www.latimes.com/entertainment-arts/tv/story/2020-10-09/the-boys-season-2-amazon-finale">interview</a> with the Los Angeles Times, Kripke said "The Boys that you meet in the top of season three are the recognizable Boys from the comic book. They're working for the CIA; they're gathering dirt on superheroes. Their offices are in the Flatiron Building."</p><p>He added: "I think the fans will love it because it's the Boys as they know them."</p><h2>The Deep will fight the Church of the Collective, similar to a real-life celebrity </h2><div type="image" title="the boys 208 the deep" height="1012" width="1349" msid="78818974" hostid="261"></div><p>The Deep's (<a href="https://www.insider.com/category/chace-crawford">Chace Crawford</a>) season two journey centered on him joining the Church of the Collective after reaching rock-bottom in Sandusky, Ohio. The church, which is more like a cult, promised the supe that he'd be able to earn his spot back in The Seven if he followed their teachings. </p><p>By the end of the season, The Deep was left disgruntled with the church after learning that A-Train (Jessie T. Usher) would be reinstated in The Seven instead of him. Plus, he signed over his bank accounts to the church and married a woman they selected for him. </p><p>Kripke told <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/superheroes-are-inherently-maga-the-boys-boss-on-his-zeitgeisty-hit">The Hollywood Reporter</a> that next season, The Deep is "gonna be like Leah Remini in fighting back against the cult."</p><p>Remini left Scientology in 2013 and has since slammed the organization in her 2015 memoir, "Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology," and her Emmy-winning docuseries, "Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath." </p><h2>Claudia Doumit and Colby Minifie, who star as Victoria Neumann and Ashley Barrett, respectively, have been promoted to series regulars</h2><div type="image" title="the boys season two victoria neuman and ashley barrett" height="900" width="1200" msid="78958624" hostid="261"></div><p><a href="https://deadline.com/2020/10/the-boys-promoted-claudia-doumit-colby-minifie-series-regulars-season-3-1234606186/">Deadline</a> reported the news in late October.</p><p>That means that fans can expect a lot more scenes involving Victoria, who was revealed at the very end of season two to be the supe behind the mysterious head explosions.</p><p>The upcoming season will likely explore more of the workplace trauma that Ashley's experiencing in her new and stressful role as the vice president of hero management at Vought. </p><h2>The cast will include some new faces</h2><div type="image" title="Actress Katia Winter wearing a gold blazer, white shirt, and black tie at a red carpet in France in October 2019." height="1692" width="2250" msid="88763408" hostid="261"></div><p>In March 2021, <a href="https://deadline.com/2021/03/the-boys-katia-winter-cast-little-nina-season-3-amazon-1234722363/">Deadline</a> reported that actress Katia Winter will be joining the series as a mob boss from the comics named Little Nina.</p><p>A few months later, additional cast members who will be playing supes were announced: Sean Patrick Flannery, Nick Wechsler, and Miles Gaston Villanueva. <a href="https://ew.com/tv/the-boys-casts-three-new-superheroes-meet-supersonic-blue-hawk-gunpowder/">Entertainment Weekly</a> reported that Flannery will star as Gunpowder, Wechsler will portray Blue Hawk, and Villanueva might be playing Supersonic. None of the characters come from the comics. </p><p>In October 2021, <a href="https://deadline.com/2021/10/the-boys-frances-turner-kristin-booth-jack-doolan-season-3-recurring-1234850110/">Deadline</a> reported three stars joining the cast in recurring roles.</p><p>Frances Turner will play MM's often-mentioned wife named Monique, while Kristin Booth and Jack Doolan will play super siblings named Tessa and Tommy (known as the TNT Twins).</p><h2>Viewers will discover more about Black Noir </h2><div type="image" title="the boys 205 black noir" height="1052" width="1402" msid="88763410" hostid="261"></div><p>"We're exploring him even more in season three, because we are giving the fans what they want," Kripke told <a href="https://tvline.com/2020/12/10/this-is-us-season-5-spoilers-will-cassidy-sophie-or-nicky-return/">TVLine</a> in December.</p><p>Little is known about the supe (played by Nathan Mitchell), but on season two, fans learned that <a href="https://www.insider.com/the-boys-season-2-details-references-2020-9">his unexpected weakness is a tree nut allergy</a>. </p><h2>A raunchy storyline from the comics will be part of the upcoming season</h2><div type="image" title="the boys season 2 queen maeve 1" height="785" width="1047" msid="88763412" hostid="261"></div><p>Kripke <a href="https://twitter.com/therealKripke/status/1350915496795799552?s=">revealed</a> that season three, episode six will be titled "Herogasm," the miniseries from the comics that centers on the characters attending a superhero orgy on a remote island. The showrunner later teased the episode as being wild after he watched the unedited footage that was filmed.</p><p>"Um. So. I've just seen dailies that are, by a mile, the craziest fucking dailies I've ever seen in my career. Or maybe anyone's career," he <a href="https://twitter.com/therealKripke/status/1405205855327322114">tweeted</a>.</p><h2><strong style="color: #000000;">Season 3 will premiere on Friday, June 3</strong></h2><p><strong></strong></p><div type="image" title="the boys 201 homelander" height="1160" width="1547" msid="78136448" hostid="261"></div><p>In October 2020, Kripke <a href="https://twitter.com/therealKripke/status/1316423642125725696">posted a photo</a> of the script for the first episode of season three (titled "Payback") and said that they begin filming in early 2021.</p><p>In January 2022, the date announcement and first teaser were <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JHx-6MTGpwg">released</a>. You can watch the video below.</p><p>The first three episodes will be <a href="https://twitter.com/TheBoysTV/status/1479494418231144451">released</a> on June 3, followed by the remainder of the season streaming weekly on Amazon Prime Video. What we know so far about season 3 of 'The Boys,' premiering on June 3

<p>On Wednesday night, "Suicide Squad" director David Ayer ("Fury") tweeted out the first photo from inside the making of Warner Bros.' comic book adaptation of the<span>&#xa0;DC Comics series.&#xa0;</span></p><p>It's a group shot of Ayer and some of the cast while doing a script read-through, which&#xa0;<span>follows a group of incarcerated DC supervillians on black-ops missions for the US government</span>.</p><div><div></div></div><p>The picture doesn't have the complete cast as Jared Leto (who will play <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/jared-leto-cuts-hair-to-play-joker-2015-3">The Joker</a>) and Scott Eastwood are notably missing. Eastwood's&#xa0;<span>character hasn't been announced yet, but the rumors are he'll play&#xa0;</span><a href="http://www.latino-review.com/news/exclusive-scott-eastwood-to-cameo-as-steve-trevor-in-suicide-sqaud">Steve Trevor</a><span>, known best as a love interest of Wonder Woman.</span></p><p>The internet went crazy over the photo. The first cast photo for the 'Suicide Squad' movie reveals new cast members

<p><span><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div>Two years ago, Marvel released "<a href="http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=marvel2014a.htm">Guardians of the Galaxy</a>," a movie about an obscure rag-tag group of heroes from a random '60s comic series. That movie surprised everyone with a huge August debut and went on to be <a href="http://www.boxofficemojo.com/yearly/chart/?yr=2014&amp;p=.htm">one of the highest-grossing movies of 2014</a>.</span></p><p><span>Now,&#xa0;DC's trying to do the same with Suicide Squad, but with a rag-tag group of many B-list villains. Sadly, it&#xa0;won't pack the same punch as "Guardians."</span></p><p><span>These villains, Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Deadshot (Will Smith), Killer Croc (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje), Diablo (Jay Hernandez), and&#xa0;Enchantress (Cara Delevingne) - are you tired yet? There are two more characters I haven't even mentioned which lead the team - have been assembled together by U.S. Intelligence Officer Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) after the events of "Batman v Superman." As every trailer has iterated, she's creating a task force to save the world from metahumans who may go rogue (think Wonder Woman, The Flash, or any other characters, hero or villain.)</span></p><p><span><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div></span></p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div><p><span>After "Batman v Superman," I really wanted to like "Suicide Squad." I'm a DC girl over Marvel. I grew up loving Batman, but for some reason Warner Bros. just can't seem to figure out how to make a great superhero movie after "The Dark Knight." While there are some good things about "Suicide Squad," I felt like I was watching "BvS" part two.</span></p><p><span>The film is just stuffed with a few too many characters, all of whom are unnecessary to the overall film. After the movie&#xa0;introduces its initial task force, it randomly adds several more characters to the Suicide Squad club - Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney), Slipknot (Adam Beach), and a sword-wielding Katana (Karen Fukuhara) with little explanation why.</span></p><p></p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div><p><span>There are so many side characters in "Suicide Squad"&#xa0;that character development falls by the wayside unless you're one of the big players, primarily Harley Quinn and Deadshot.</span></p><p><span>I get wanting to introduce a bunch of cool DC villains to the mix, but the film could have done without Slipknot, who I only learned is good at tying knots and scaling buildings,&#xa0;as well as&#xa0;Katana, who's admittedly pretty handy with a spooky sword that&#xa0;holds the souls of everyone it kills. It seems like they're only there to add diversity to the film's cast.</span></p><p><span>And unlike other screen adaptations of Captain Boomerang, all I gathered from "Suicide Squad" is that he seems to have a random obsession with a pink unicorn plush that's never explained. I guess it's supposed to be funny.</span></p><p></p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div><p><span>It's just nearly impossible to build an emotional connection to about a dozen characters in a two-hour movie. There's a point in the film where Diablo, a tattooed man who can shoot out flames, says, 'I lost one family. I'm not gonna lose another.' But you don't even feel like they are truly family. This isn't "Fast and the Furious." There isn't enough time to give each character the development they need (outside of a small few) when there are not one, but two villains &#xa0;- in a movie filled with supervillains, mind you - to take down.</span></p><p><span>The villains themselves are just too generic (imagine the whole 'We want to take over the world' mantra&#xa0;- is this what we've come to expect from superhero films?) and confusing to anyone who's not deeply ingrained into DC lore. I won't spoil who they are because it's supposed to be a surprise, though some have figured it out by now due to a casting sheet.</span></p><p><span>It's hard to&#xa0;even get excited&#xa0;about the villains in a movie based around&#xa0;supervillains. They're actually the least interesting part of the film. Half the time you're more invested in Harley and the Joker's relationship to even care about the bad guys they're fighting.</span></p><p><span>Oh and if&#xa0;you're hoping to see a lot of Jared Leto's new incarnation of the Joker, you're out of luck. Robbie and Leto share some of the movies best scenes.</span><br><span>The film hints that could very well be in the cards. If Warner Bros. is smart, they'll capitalize on the characters' popularity and make a solo Joker/Harley film or include them as the main villains in the solo Batman movie.</span></br></p><p><span>The real heart and scene stealer of "Suicide Squad" is Robbie's Harley Quinn, but that shouldn't be a surprise. She has dominated the marketing for the film. And rightfully so. This is the character's first time on the big screen. She was first introduced in '90s cartoon "Batman: The Animated Series" as the Joker's henchwoman. "Heathens" from Twenty One Pilots and a "Bohemian Rhapsody" cover by Panic! at the Disco are stand outs.</span></p><p><span>Director David Ayer may have said "<a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/suicide-squad-director-david-ayer-yells-f-marvel-2016-8">f--- Marvel</a>" on stage at the "Suicide Squad" world premiere </span><span data-term="goog_1269450646"><span>Monday</span></span><span> evening, something he has since apologized for, but I don't think Marvel has anything to be worried about.</span></p><p><div></div></p><p><span>With "Suicide Squad"&#xa0;as the second movie in DC's&#xa0;planned cinematic movie universe, the films are quickly feeling like pieces that have been slapped together too fast to catch up to the Marvel machine. That's a shame because not only does DC have <a href="http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/superhero-earns-13-billion-a-748281">two of the most lucrative characters in&#xa0;Batman and Superman</a>, but several years ago when Christopher Nolan's Batman&#xa0;was <a href="http://www.boxofficemojo.com/franchises/chart/?id=darkknighttrilogy.htm">reigning supreme at the box office</a>, it was Disney and Marvel who had to play catch up. (And how they have!)</span></p><p>Opening weekend estimates are calling for <a href="http://variety.com/2016/film/box-office/box-office-suicide-squad-jason-bourne-1201814398/">"Suicide Squad" to break $120 million</a>. While it may perform well upon its debut for fans eager to see the latest incarnation of the Joker and Harley Quinn's first on-screen appearance, it's not a movie you'll head out to see more than once. The movie thinks it's funnier and more fun than it actually is.</p><p><span>And if it does well opening weekend, a <a href="http://www.slashfilm.com/suicide-squad-sequel/">sequel is reportedly already planned</a>. The film certainly lends itself to one.
