<ul><li>India is currently home to over 430 million mobile gamers and the number of gamers is estimated to grow to 650 million by 2025. </li><li>Currently, mobile gaming dominates the <keyword id="2600446" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="indian-gaming" source="Orion">Indian gaming</keyword> sector, contributing more than 90% to the $1.6 billion gaming market and is expected to further grow to generate $3.9 billion value by 2025.</li></ul>A report by <keyword id="149966" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="iamai" source="Orion">IAMAI</keyword> in collaboration with <keyword id="2210217" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="oneplus" source="Orion">OnePlus</keyword> and <keyword id="3359665" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="RedSeer" source="Orion">RedSeer</keyword> has estimated that the Indian gaming market is poised to reach $3.9 billion in value by 2025. The report also highlighted that 40% of the hardcore gamers pay for their games with an average spend of Rs 230 per month. The Covid-19 pandemic has accelerated the organic growth of digital games as mobile app downloads grew by 50% and user engagement went up by 20%, the study says. The increased gaming time has spurred the growth of hardcore gamers in India, even as casual games remain the most popular genre in India. The report was launched today by <keyword id="130896" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="jayesh-ranjan" source="Orion">Jayesh Ranjan</keyword>, Principal Secretary of the Industries &amp; Commerce (I&amp;C) and Information Technology (IT), Department of the Telangana Government, <keyword id="12248827" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="shri-saurabh-gaur" source="Orion">Shri Saurabh Gaur</keyword>, Joint Secretary Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, in the presence of Navnit Nakra, Vice President, Chief Strategy Officer and Head of India Sales, OnePlus India, and Rajen Vagadia, Vice President and President, Qualcomm at a Roundtable discussion around E-Gaming hosted by IAMAI moderated by RedSeer, Associate Partner, <keyword id="12248829" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="kanishka-mohan" source="Orion">Kanishka Mohan</keyword>. “We are at the cusp of a gaming revolution and the gaming ecosystem is working towards user-friendly smartphones and leveraging 5G technologies,” said Jayesh Ranjan, speaking at the roundtable. While launching the report titled ‘Building up the e-gaming ecosystem of India and the influence of smartphones’, by OnePlus, the global technology brand in partnership with IAMAI and RedSeer, Ranjan also talked about the growth potential of the gaming sector and the significance of user-friendly devices for the same. “The gaming sector has underlined the significance of affordable Smartphones with capable hardware. I am happy that parallelly, work is going on to make phones more user-friendly for gaming by leveraging 5G technology, developments in AI/ML, and hardware manufacturing.” Saurabh Gaur, added that: “The [global] gaming industry can be matched with electronics, and consoles could be manufactured in India.” He also voiced support for creating games for the Indian audience, based on Indian culture. Indian gaming has leap-frogged into the mobile gaming era due to the rapid increase in smartphone penetration in the country, with large console and PC games now being curated for mobile platforms. The sector is also attracting huge investment interest, with nearly $1 billion being invested in the sector in the last 6 months. The Indian gaming market poised to reach $6-7 billion in value by 2025: IAMAI

<ul><li>The overall credit demand stands at $220 billion, yet only $165 billion is serviceable, says a report by Redseer and GetVantage.</li><li>Formal lending systems like banks have only been able to service 30% of the overall credit demand.</li><li>Alternate finance systems like recurring-revenue advances and trade receivable financing have the potential to double their share in five years. </li></ul>Indian digital small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) are on a growth path but suffer from a working capital deficit of around $112 billion — as only $53 billion was injected via various channels. As per a report by Redseer and GetVantage, the overall credit demand stands at $220 billion, yet only $165 billion is serviceable. “Small businesses account for 90% of credit demand but continue to struggle to raise capital, owing to poor business metrics, limited assets, and uncertain growth projections. If the current economic and regulatory climate continues, this gap is likely to widen significantly over the next five years,” said Kanishka Mohan, partner at Redseer. Moreso, as more businesses go digital along with growth in new-age businesses, the demand for credit will only grow. The report estimates that in the next five years, as the number of digital SMEs doubles, the demand for credit is expected to cross $570 billion. Advantage Alt-Fi Formal lending systems like banks have only been able to service 30% of the overall credit demand. Lack of collateral and clear documentation has always been a hindrance for traditional lenders such as commercial banks to provide adequate capital to SMEs. That presents an unprecedented opportunity for alternate-financing platforms, NBFCs and traditional financial lenders (Trad-Fi) like banks to collaborate and catalyze economic growth by prioritizing compliance, governance, inclusion and innovation, opines Bhavik Vasa, founder &amp; CEO of GetVantage. Alternate finance systems include third-party lenders such as revenue-based financing platforms, recurring-revenue advances and trade receivable financing etc. Alternate-finance provides access and flexibility which make these quasi-equity solutions ideal for SMEs. “India is a nation of small businesses, and modern businesses in India deserve modern capital solutions that are fair, accessible, and flexible. Alternate-financing has a vital role to play in extending the limited reach of traditional lenders to serve millions of new-economy businesses and emerging sectors,” says Vasa. At present, the share of alternate finance is around 5%, which Redseer estimates can double to reach to around 11% in the next five years. India has 64 million micro, small, and medium sized enterprises (MSMEs), which contribute to 30% of the nation’s GDP. The sector which is recognized as a crucial growth engine is riddled with challenges such as limited digitization and strained access to capital. Redseer says that only 12% or 7.7 million MSMEs in India are digitized. Yet, businesses that have been able to shift their operations online partly have been able to achieve scale as they could take advantage of new economic opportunities and cost efficiencies.

True to their nature, they also picked a lot of winners who were able to gain business, funding along with publicity from screen time – that has helped many D2C brands in particular. Redseer Consulting, in a recently released report, has found that 27 startups that appeared on season 1 of the show secured funds from external investors. ”Most startups that appeared on the show secured deals 6 times greater in value from outside investors within a span of 1.5 years. Their current valuation is also 2.5 times greater than what they were valued on <keyword id="15913368" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="shark-tank-season-1" source="Orion">Shark Tank season 1</keyword>,” said Kanishka Mohan, partner at Redseer Consulting. In season 1, as many as 117 pitches were made, out of which 65 of them accepted deals on the show, 20 rejected deals and 32 were not offered a deal at all. All these sections of startups, received a fair amount of interest from external investors. Six startups which were not offered a deal on the show like — On2Cook, Theka Coffee, Good Piggy Bank, Sabjikothi and Nushka were able to secure deals outside. “In all, most startups that appeared on the show fared well afterward, securing better deals and increasing valuations,” the consulting firm said. Who’s the biggest shark? As much as ₹100 crore was invested in startups that pitched their ideas on Shark Tank season 1 and 2 by eight sharks. And the shark with the most appetite is Aman Gupta, the founder of BoAt who invested ₹24.6 crore across 70 deals. He is followed closely by Peyush Bansal, the co-founder and CEO of Lenskart who invested ₹21.5 crore across 67 deals. The most active shark of season 1 who missed the second season is Ashneer Grover, the co-founder of BharatPe, who invested ₹5.3 crore in 21 deals. Shaadi.com founder Anupam Mittal who was recognized as one of India’s best angel investors, as per Hurun, had invested ₹14.4 crore across 50 deals on the show. Sharks loved to invest in startups pertaining to the food and beverage sector . Amongst the few deals made in healthcare and manufacturing, most of them came from Thapar and Bansal who have expertise in these sectors. “Most of the deals made on the show had one shark onboard; however, it never happened that all the sharks invested in a single business,” Redseer said. <table style="border-width: initial;
