Actor politician Kamal Haasan-led <keyword id="6264434" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Makkal-Needhi-Maiam">Makkal Needhi Maiam</keyword> has finalised a seat sharing pact with two of its allies for the April 6 Assembly polls and it is set to contest from 154 segments out of the 234 constituencies. MNM inked an agreement with actor-politician <keyword id="375764" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Sarathkumar">Sarathkumar</keyword>'s All India Samathuva Makhal Katchi and Indiya Jananayaka Katchi to jointly fight the polls. According to the understanding reached here late last night, AISMK and IJK would contest from 40 seats each. The primary goal was to contest polls in alliance with a "promise for change and emerge victorious to form the government," the agreement said. The parties have committed to the common goal of transforming Tamil Nadu by fulfilling the long pending aspirations of the people, the pact said. Famous Telugu film actor and political debutante Pawan Kalyan who put in a tough fight has lost the Gajuwaka assembly election seat to YSR Congress' T Nagireddy by a little over 16,000 votes. Kalyan's Jana Sena Party has won only a single seat, which has fought the elections in the state for the very first time. The Telugu superstar Kalyan also joined the Mahagatbandhan coalition led by Bahujan Samaj Party and Samajwadi Party, at a national level. Tough terrain The actor with many superhit movies under his belt, is also the brother of Telugu superstar Chiranjeevi. He followed his brother’s footsteps and kickstarted his own political party in 2014 but contested only this elections. But Chiranjeevi’s party Praja Rajyam had failed to make an impact, merged with Congress and later vanished from electoral rolls and people’s minds. Kalyan also chose a tough constituency for his political debut since it is the largest constituency in the state. Also, he had to fight off many ‘outsider’ slurs during the campaigning even as large masses attended his rallies. Hassan’s boys to lose deposit On the other hand, yet another South star Kamal Hassan is struggling too. While Hassan hasn’t contested himself, he fielded 21 candidates in 38 Lok Sabha seats. His party Makkal Needhi Mayyan (MNM) has not made an impact. As per initial results, it looks like most of his candidates will be losing deposits with lower than the required vote share of 16%. Hassan had to face multiple controversies during his campaign. The worst of them was his comments on Nathuram Godse, saying that he was ‘independent India’s first terrorist’.

In fact, his urn of ashes is passed on to his clan for safekeeping until his dream comes true. While Godse’s wish may remain unfulfilled, India’s politics has kept Gandhi’s killer relevant 71 years after his death. Rekindling the debate over his ‘patriotism’ is believed to help consolidate the majoritarian vote that can influence the election result. No wonder, the debate is peaking in India before the final polling day in the 2019 election for the Lok Sabha, the lower house of India’s Parliament. On May 13, debutante politician and famous actor Kamal Hassan raked this issue when he called Godse, “independent India’s first terrorist”. This comment was made from Hassan who was campaigning for his new-born political party, Makkal Needhi Mayyam, which fielded candidates in Tamil Nadu. What followed was a political stir that drew nearly everyone into the debate. <keyword id="58687" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Bharatiya-Janata-Party">Bharatiya Janata Party</keyword>’s (BJP) Bhopal candidate <keyword id="40663" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Sadhvi-Pragya">Sadhvi Pragya</keyword> Thakur, hit back at Haasan and called Godse a ‘patriot’. “Nathuram Godse will be a deshbhakt (patriot) and will always be so. People who make comments on him, should introspect their own actions,”<a href="https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/politics-and-nation/nathuram-godse-was-a-deshbhakt-says-sadhvi-pragya-thakur/videoshow/69356645.cms"> she said</a>. However, Thakur retracted her statement after her party, the BJP, distanced itself from the comments, but the debate over Godse is still raging on. Hassan defended his <a href="https://www.ndtv.com/india-news/kamal-haasan-to-ndtv-on-his-remarks-on-nathuram-godse-not-intimidated-by-reactions-terrorists-abound-2038842">comment</a> even today and said, “terrorists are abound in every religion”. Interestingly, Haasan himself played the role of Saket Ram, who plots to kill Gandhi in the 1999 epic, Hey Ram, which details the protagonist’s journey from extremism to non-violence. Just when Saket Ram was discovering Gandhi’s glory in the fictional story, Nathuram Godse fires at the father of the nation. While the clash of rhetoric on social media is not surprising, someone threw slippers at Haasan for condemning Gandhi’s assassin.

This statement was later printed as a book, called “Why I assassinated Gandhi”. A ban of on the book was lifted in 1968. While Godse was hanged for his actions, his undying passion for a ‘Hindu state’ has its fans even now.

Excerpts: The lockdown comes with its limitations. How are you helping your employees to stay motivated? These are certainly difficult times for our people. More than the physical difficulty, it is the uncertainty about how to get work done, family, safety and so on. In these times, motivation is both a function of what the organization does for people, and what the people do by themselves. We are fortunate to have a bunch of highly motivated people who have devised multiple ways to stay motivated – music concerts, talent shows, happy hours, yoga sessions and training programs are just some of the initiatives they have devised themselves. From the organization side, we have tried to minimise the friction by ensuring access to technology and connectivity as well as some streamlined processes that help them get the most of their efforts. How are you taking care of your own mental health? I feel the biggest cause of mental stress is the absence of a clear routine and the blurring of work and life. I try to maintain my work routine as best as possible. A walk within the compound in the morning helps clear the head, and a bit of reading before bed relaxes as well. It is critical to get some time away from the screen. With domestic responsibilities &amp; work pressures coming at people in parallel, there is very little room to ‘Switch off’. I feel the biggest challenge in remote working is, therefore, the absence of a routine. I personally ensure a constant start time to work every day, at least 30 minutes of exercise and some time at dinner with the family where the phone is turned off. Also, the data &amp; wifi connection is shut before going to bed. We encourage everyone to do the same. What is the need of the hour, for agencies and media platforms, to navigate the current situation frictionlessly? I think the entire ecosystem – be it agencies, media partners, or clients – are trying to be as innovative and adaptive as possible to manage this never-before event. There are new solutions being created every day – new formats of content, new approaches to touchpoints, new packages and so on. Necessity is truly the mother of invention in these times, and those who don’t adapt fast will definitely be left behind. How is Mindshare doing things differently after the lockdown and adapting to these unprecedented days? This is partly answered in the questions above. In addition, we have the advantage of a huge and diverse global network to draw upon. We are constantly looking for pointers and success stories from markets like China who have been through this before us. We are preparing multiple scenarios for ourselves and our clients for the lockdown period, as well as for the period of recovery ahead. Some of the changes which happen now will be permanent, and some of those will actually be beneficial for us in the long run if we adapt ourselves around them. Do something new – sing, pick up an instrument, watch a film in another language or by a director you have never seen before, try a new exercise routine… this is an opportunity! On October 2, Prime Minister Modi’s pet project of cleanliness completes a year. To commemorate the success, Modi’s ministers have received plan blueprint from the PM himself. 
 
Modi has formed a team of ministers to plan a 17-day anniversary celebration between September 25 and October 11. The team includes Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu, Road Transport Minister <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Nitin+Gadkari">Nitin Gadkari</a>, Drinking Water and Sanitation Minister Chaudhary Birender Singh and Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Rajyavardhan Rathore. 
 
Apart from advertisements, there would be appraising performance of all the states and printing the achievements in booklets. The chief ministers of the states would also be roped in and encouraged to conduct walkathons with the high-profile Swachh Bharat ambassadors. The states have also been asked to rope in governors to administer the "Swachhta pledge" to government officials to keep their surroundings clean. 
 
The government will also honour NGOs and volunteers who have contributed in the cleanliness programme. Swachh Bharat ambassadors would also visit households where toilets have been built under the scheme. 
 
 A senior government official told The Economic Times, "We plan to organise events in states and in the capital with Swachh Bharat Abhiyan brand ambassadors like Baba Ramdev, actor Kamal Hassan and cricketer Sachin Tendulkar.”
