What has investors worried about Kalyan Jewellers? Kalyan Jewellers has a huge presence in India’s southern states. Overall, it has over 100 showrooms in 21 states and union territories across the country. Outside India, Kalyan has a foothold in the Middle East with 30 showrooms. Moreover, the executive director of Kalyan Jewellers — Ramesh Kalyanaraman — does not believe going digital will help the company. “I don’t see online replacing offline ever in our sector,” he told Business Insider in an interview. Unlike Kalyan, Titan took up digital solutions to boost demand during the pandemic as customers looked for contactless ways to buy jewellery. Nonetheless, Kalyan’s hyperlocal strategy has, so far, worked in its favour. Before the IPO opened up to the public, the Warburg Pincus-backed jewellery bigwig raised nearly ₹352 crore from 15 anchor investors including the Government of Singapore, Monetary Authority of Singapore, HDFC Life Insurance and BNP Paribas Arbitrage. RailTel’s ₹700 crore initial public offering The state-owned RailTel Corporation has filed a Draft Red Herring Prospectus (DRHP) with the market regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) for an initial public offer of up to 8.66 crore equity shares. The company is likely to raise ₹700 crore through the IPO, a complete offer for sale by the Central government. It has appointed ICICI Securities, IDBI Capital, SBI Capital Markets as the book running lead managers to the issue. ESAF Small Finance Bank The Kerala-based ESAF Small Finance Bank had filed DRHP in January and subsequently got the approval from SEBI at the end of March. However, the bank delayed its initial public offering due to the volatile market conditions and said it would take a call on ₹976-crore initial public offering (IPO) after September. The ₹976-crore IPO of ESAF Small Finance Bank will comprise a fresh issue worth ₹800 crore and an offer for sale (OFS) aggregating up to ₹176.2 crore. Burger King One of India'sIndia's fastest-growing food chains, Burger King, is also in line to raise as much as ₹1,000 crore by initial public offering. The firm aims to utilise the funds to double the number of restaurants by 2025, where it currently operates 216 in India, as per its DRHP. Burger King IPO is also likely to hit the market in November this year. Bajaj Energy The ₹5,450 crore IPO of Uttar Pradesh-based, one of the largest private-sector thermal generation companies, Bajaj Energy, is expected to hit the market by the end of this year. The IPO comprises a fresh issue of ₹474 crore and an offer for sale of ₹126 crore by existing shareholders and promoters. The company will utilise net proceeds from the fresh issue of the IPO into inorganic growth initiatives, working capital requirements of subsidiary Latent View Analytics Corporation and investment in subsidiaries to augment the capital base. The 15-year old company provides analytics services such as data and analytics consulting, business analytics and insights, advanced predictive analytics, data engineering, and digital solutions. It provides services to blue-chip companies in technology, banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI), consumer packaged goods (CPG) companies and retail, industrials, and other industry domains. Adding to it, brokerage firms are also bullish on the analytics services industry as they see future demand for such services to solve complex customer problems. “We feel in future there will be a great demand for pure play analytics company [sic] like Latent View, which is engaged in providing analytics services, offering an in-depth understanding of solving complex customer problems and assists business entities in making an informed decision. Here is what they said: Pankaj Sharma, Director – Consumer Products Division, L’Oréal India: Indian beauty consumers have become more discerning as they move between online + offline buying and experiencing paradigms. And in this journey, eCommerce will continue to play a big role in driving beauty in India. It has created more opportunities for consumer experience and demand fulfillment. The initiatives like live streaming, e-BAs, Video-Content on DIY have enabled new touchpoints. This has allowed more specific media and activation plans for each region, depending on the festive peaks. For example, at L’Oréal India, we used Insta-Festive as one of our umbrella themes and could do insta-diwali, insta-pujo, insta-karwa, insta-onam as activation points to engage with consumers on e-commerce and digital with the power of data. The off-trade salience increased to 88% compared to 73% in the pre-pandemic phase, as individuals were constrained to more intimate drinking occasions at home. We see at-home drinking as a strong trend coupled with the growth of outdoor experiences in 2022 as the market opens. Keeping this in mind, Diageo India continues to strengthen its in-home play through off-trade and digital along with influencer engagement to embrace ways to make at-home drinking experiences more enjoyable. Arnab Roy, Vice President, Marketing, Coca-Cola India &amp; Southwest Asia: While this year has tested the thinking and resilience of brands worldwide, going forward, we hope that the pandemic continues to regress and we get the real magic back into our lives.
