One of the factors that may have contributed to Kalyan’s discount to issue price is aggressive pricing. The company’s financials have been struggling for the past two financial years and jewellery is a sector that currently finds itself out of favour. The ₹1175 crore IPO saw muted interest only getting <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/stock-market/news/how-to-check-allotment-status-of-kalyan-jewellers-ipo/articleshow/81626536.cms">subscribed to 2.61 times</a>. This doesn’t bode well for the company that regards Titan Company’s Tanishq as its key competitor in the market. Analysts <a href="https://www.financialexpress.com/market/ipo-news/kalyan-jewellers-ipo-listing-day-strategy-grey-market-premium-missing-sell-on-listing-or-hold-shares-for-long-term/2219933/">expect</a> that most of the investors, who were allotted shares, are likely to sell on listing. What has investors worried about Kalyan Jewellers? Kalyan Jewellers has a huge presence in India’s southern states. Overall, it has over 100 showrooms in 21 states and union territories across the country. Outside India, Kalyan has a foothold in the Middle East with 30 showrooms. But its financials, of late, were <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/business/corporates/news/kalyan-jewellers-will-be-going-up-against-titan-but-remains-sceptical-jewellery-business-can-ever-fully-go-online/articleshow/81478749.cms">not so impressive</a>. It suffered setbacks in 2019 following cyclones and floods in southern states. And, when the pandemic hit, the company was unable to register positive cash inflows for nine months ending December 2020. While industry reports suggest that there may be an uptake in jewellery buying as shoppers redirect their funds from big, lavish venues to jewellery — there is still considerable uncertainty around the demand for gold as India sees a second wave of COVID-19 spreading across the country. Moreover, the executive director of Kalyan Jewellers — Ramesh Kalyanaraman — does not believe going digital will help the company. “I don’t see online replacing offline ever in our sector,” he told Business Insider in an interview. Unlike Kalyan, Titan took up digital solutions to boost demand during the pandemic as customers looked for contactless ways to buy jewellery. Nonetheless, Kalyan’s hyperlocal strategy has, so far, worked in its favour. Before the IPO opened up to the public, the Warburg Pincus-backed jewellery bigwig raised nearly ₹352 crore from 15 anchor investors including the Government of Singapore, Monetary Authority of Singapore, HDFC Life Insurance and BNP Paribas Arbitrage. The funds will be used for Kalyan’s working capital requirements and general corporate purpose.

The company has appointed JM Financial, Edelweiss Financial Services, and IIFL Securities as its book running lead managers to the issue. RailTel’s ₹700 crore initial public offering The state-owned RailTel Corporation has filed a Draft Red Herring Prospectus (DRHP) with the market regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) for an initial public offer of up to 8.66 crore equity shares. The company is likely to raise ₹700 crore through the IPO, a complete offer for sale by the Central government. It has appointed ICICI Securities, IDBI Capital, SBI Capital Markets as the book running lead managers to the issue. ESAF Small Finance Bank The Kerala-based ESAF Small Finance Bank had filed DRHP in January and subsequently got the approval from SEBI at the end of March. However, the bank delayed its initial public offering due to the volatile market conditions and said it would take a call on ₹976-crore initial public offering (IPO) after September. The ₹976-crore IPO of ESAF Small Finance Bank will comprise a fresh issue worth ₹800 crore and an offer for sale (OFS) aggregating up to ₹176.2 crore. Kalyan Jewellers Kerala based Jewellery maker, Kalyan Jewellers, is also expected to launch a ₹1,750 crore initial public offering (IPO) in <a href="http://www.marketsguruji.com/upcoming-ipos-in-india/">November</a>. The ₹1,750 crore IPO will be the largest in its sector. The issue will consist of a fresh fundraise of ₹1,000 crore and offer of sale by promoter TS Kalyanaraman and private equity firm Warburg Pincus of ₹750 crore. Burger King One of India'sIndia's fastest-growing food chains, Burger King, is also in line to raise as much as ₹1,000 crore by initial public offering. The firm aims to utilise the funds to double the number of restaurants by 2025, where it currently operates 216 in India, as per its DRHP. Burger King IPO is also likely to hit the market in November this year. Bajaj Energy The ₹5,450 crore IPO of Uttar Pradesh-based, one of the largest private-sector thermal generation companies, Bajaj Energy, is expected to hit the market by the end of this year. The IPO comprises fresh issuance of shares aggregating up to ₹5,150 crore and an offer for sale of scrips up to ₹300 crore by the promoter Bajaj Power Ventures, according to its DRHP. Around 2.30 p.m., shares of Sterling and <keyword id="8987948" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="wilson-solar-ltd">Wilson Solar Ltd</keyword> on the BSE were trading at ₹244.95, lower by ₹27.45 or 10.08 per cent from its previous close. A bench headed by Chief Justice S.A. Bobde said all questions of law are in favour of Tata Group and dismissed the appeals filed by Mistry. The top court upheld the Tata Sons decision to sack Cyrus Mistry on October 24, 2016. <keyword id="6371516" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="shapoorji-pallonji">Shapoorji Pallonji</keyword> Group counsel had argued that Mistry was removed because he was going to place a draft governance structure at the Board meeting on October 24, 2016. "We find all the questions of law are liable to be answered in favour of the appellants (Tata Group) and the appeals filed by the Tata Group are liable to be allowed and Shapoorji Pallonji group is liable to be dismissed," said the top court. The top court said the value of SP Group shares will depend on the valuation by Tata Sons equities and the court will not determine the fair value. In December 2019, the NCLAT had ruled that the proceedings of the Board meeting of Tata Sons held on October 24, 2016 removing Cyrus Mistry as chairperson was illegal. The Mistry family, which runs SP Group, owns an 18.4 per cent stake in Tata Sons. Sterling & Wilson shares fall 10% after Supreme Court's verdict against SP Group in the Cyrus Mistry vs Tata case

Gurugram-based offline-to-online commerce platform <keyword id="8103952" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="DotPe">DotPe</keyword> on Friday said it has secured $27.5 million (around ₹200 crore) in Series A funding as Google joined <keyword id="1493568" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="PayU">PayU</keyword> and <keyword id="80004" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Info-Edge">Info Edge</keyword> Ventures as investors. The round was led by its early investor, PayU, the payments and <keyword id="2461546" type="DOMAIN" weightage="20" keywordseo="FinTech">fintech</keyword> business of Prosus, resulting in an increase in the existing stake in the company. Info Edge Ventures has doubled down on its seed investment in the company made last year and more than doubled its shareholding, while Google joined as a new investor. The fresh funding brings DotPe's total funding to $35.5 million. "We are thrilled to see our existing investors, PayU and Info Edge Ventures, backing our vision and doubling down on their funding as new business horizons open up," Shailaz Nag, Cofounder, DotPe, said in a statement. "We are pleased to add Google, an innovation leader, as an investor. This new partnership will empower businesses (big or small) to be more discoverable, expand business avenues and conduct commerce like never before." DotPe has made some key hires in the recent months. The company said that the fresh funding will be deployed towards accelerating product development, market expansion and scaling technology to meet the fast-growing market demand. "In the last few months we've seen an acceleration in offline players seeking to move their businesses online. We're pleased to back young companies like DotPe that are supporting India's digital transformation by connecting consumers and merchants through helpful, innovative tools," Sanjay Gupta, Vice President and Country Head, <keyword id="45395" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Google-India">Google India</keyword>, said in a statement. The company said that on the enterprise side, it has integration with over 10,000 restaurants and food courts, including leading global and domestic food and beverage brands. For small and medium-sized businesses, the company has an app called Digital Showroom that helps businesses open a digital store front quickly. Offline-to-online commerce platform DotPe raises $27.5 million from Google, PayU and Info Edge Ventures

New data on Covid-19 vaccine manufacturing and <keyword id="10997165" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="supply-capacity">supply capacity</keyword> indicate up to 12 billion doses from 13 different sources could be available by the end of the year, enough to vaccinate 70 per cent of the world if distributed equitably. However, an assessment from the Duke Global Health Innovation Center Launch and Scale Speedometer program continues to show an astonishing gap between wealthy countries and low- and middle-income countries in terms of who controls the lion's share of vaccines. The analysis also finds that countries at all income levels cannot adequately assess and act to minimize risks of supply disruption. This is due to a rapidly shifting landscape in which they see manufacturing capacity and supply projections abruptly expanding or contracting on a daily basis. The research is the most detailed analysis to date of the most ambitious vaccine development and <keyword id="6481984" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="immunization">immunization</keyword> effort the world has ever seen. The data provides a detailed breakdown of 2021 vaccine purchases by country and developer; the supplies anticipated from each vaccine maker through the end of the year; and the many manufacturing partners around the world stepping in to provide bulk production and "fill-finish" capacity -- filling and packaging vials of vaccine, which is often a bottleneck in the vaccine supply chain. "Covid-19 vaccine access remains a lopsided issue as wealthy countries have now purchased about 4.6 billion doses, with 1.2 billion of those controlled by the United States alone for its 330 million citizens, compared to one billion for the <keyword id="9549281" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="covax">COVAX</keyword> pact supplying several billion people in low- and middle-income countries," said Krishna Udayakumar, Director of the Duke Global Health Innovation Center. "There are new developments that could push overall supplies for 2021 to 12 billion doses, and if distributed equally, that would be more than enough to vaccinate 70 per cent of the world's population, the threshold for herd immunity," said Andrea Taylor, who leads research on Covid-19 vaccines for the Launch and Scale Speedometer program. "But alongside the challenge of vaccine nationalism, our work highlights that manufacturing and supply issues remain the critical barriers. There is very little transparency in the landscape, so it is difficult for country leaders to assess the feasibility of delivery schedules or to understand the risks and contingencies." The analysis from the Launch and Scale Speedometer program is based on an aggregation of a wide assortment of publicly available data. However, Taylor said the lack of data on a number of issues, such as the capacity of the many new partners now stepping in to provide bulk manufacturing and fill and finish work, makes it difficult to give decision makers a clear picture of current and future vaccine supply. She called for a new effort to "crowdsource" data from public and private sources to address gaps that could delay decisions to expand manufacturing capacity and limit insights into precisely when vaccines will be available in different regions. For example, the analysis shows that the African Union and Africa CDC have procured 670 million doses for African countries that would be in addition to what they will receive from COVAX, the global multilateral alliance to procure and allocate vaccines more equitably. Taylor said uncertainties around financing and production capacity make it hard to predict whether those doses would arrive in the second half of 2021 or sometime in 2022. Other uncertainties include plans for broader distribution of vaccines from China's CanSino Biologics and the Sputnik V vaccine from Russia's Gamaleya Research Institute. The available data indicate that projected manufacturing capacity for each of these vaccines may not be sufficient to contribute significantly to immunizations beyond China or Russia. However, at least for Sputnik V, there are several contracts with non-Russian manufacturers under consideration and a pending application for an Emergency Use Listing (EUL) from the <keyword id="43588" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="World-Health-Organization">World Health Organization</keyword>. The EULs have the potential to greatly expand supplies, which could help address shortfalls for low-income countries. But Taylor said there is no data to accurately assess how many doses might be available and where and when. Meanwhile, lurking in the background of the vaccine equity issue is the potential for new variants that have at least a limited capacity to evade immune responses to render certain vaccines clearly superior to others. For example, the Launch and Scale Speedometer data indicate that, for at least the rest of 2021, the vast majority of vaccine doses from <keyword id="9653140" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="pfizer-biontech">Pfizer-BioNTech</keyword> and Moderna appear to be headed to wealthy countries. By comparison, of the 670 million doses procured by the African Union, 500 million are for the <keyword id="9605255" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="oxford-astrazeneca">Oxford-AstraZeneca</keyword> vaccine. Astra-Zeneca is also a key supplier to COVAX and, outside of the pact, the Launch and Scale Speedometer data show the company has large purchasing agreements with a number of low- and middle-income countries. Our Quorum was created as a space to coalesce a diverse and <keyword id="10997493" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="interesting-cohort">interesting cohort</keyword> of the curious. Our members make meaningful connections with each other around shared ideas and interests, which is assisted through our programming. An important part of our membership criteria is diversity and we strongly feel that age, gender and backgrounds are not a restrictive factor. While private members’ clubs already exist in India, their member base was curated generations ago and are arguably less relevant to the new India that we know today. Membership for the establishment clubs is more about keeping folks out rather than bringing them in. At The Quorum, we’re less interested in what you have, who you know, or what you do, and instead, are far more intrigued by your personality, interests, passions and stories. There are some interesting parallels with the social change that occurred within the United States in the 1960’s, where people were on the move, just as they are in India today. Our cities today are more transient than they have ever been, as people relocate for work and economic opportunities. As a result, the need for having a place of belonging is more important today than ever before. <div type="image" title="Cafe Reed at The Quorum" msid="81702743" hostid="261"></div> Of course, you can’t feel a sense of belonging unless you identify with the culture of a place which, for us, is defined by our curated programming. Culture is the heart of the events calendar at The Quorum; and we’ve contributed to shaping culture in the NCR by playing host to over 400 events at our club in Gurgaon. Our monthly programming calendar is a labour of love which pieces together unparalleled thought leadership and events across the spectrum of art, fashion, music, literature, tech, business, current affairs and much more. Traditionally, studios and workshops were where culture was ‘produced’, and galleries, parks or theatres were where it was ‘consumed’ – we are closing that gap with what we do at our space. You can spend your day working out of our workspaces, The Business Quarter, take a break for lunch at our restaurant - Coalesce, and then head over to the Members’ Lounge for high tea, before joining our sommelier for a wine tasting followed by a night of dancing with a jazz band; this is only one example of all that we have in store for our members on a typical day at the club. We collaborate on the content mentioned above and have fostered an ecosystem of partnerships with brands that share our sensibility and ethos. As our community grows across multiple locations, with what we believe is the most discerning, global, sophisticated, and aspirational audience across the country, The Quorum collective has the potential to become a powerful network and a platform for the advocacy of brands and ideas. Another important aspect of Collaboration is how the physical attributes of our space effortlessly brings people together and is designed to seamlessly morph from work to play. In fact, our mascot, whose name is Jango, is a chameleon and reflects the transformative nature of The Quorum. This is increasingly relevant today, given the impending structural change in the way people will work in a post-pandemic world. If there is one trend that seems to be playing out prominently is that both companies and their employees are looking for flexibility. Employees are looking for a more wholesome experience where they can bring their lifestyle back into their work style &amp; companies on the other hand are looking for collaborative spaces where their teams, that might be working remotely, can come together and ideate in creative spaces. Furthermore, as the world starts to travel again, people will look for more authentic experiences that allow them to integrate into the community and culture of whichever city they choose to explore. We’ve created reciprocal partnerships with 50 of the most sought after private members’ clubs around the world, including The Battery in San-Francisco, Saint James in Paris, 1880 in Singapore, The Groucho in London, and many more. And while the travel &amp; hospitality industry has suffered the most this past year, all signs point towards a revival akin to the “Roaring Twenties”. However, safety will continue to be a priority for some time to come, and private members’ clubs with their unique social contract with their patrons, provides a more predictable option in these unpredictable times. Creative inspiration is all around us at The Q; whether it’s the design of the space or the art that adorns our walls, we’re almost maniacal about making sure that everything our guests experience is an assault on all 5 senses. While we live in a country with tons of creative inspiration, spaces that inspire remain in short supply. We partnered with Studio Lotus in designing The Quorum Gurgaon, to bring The Q Factor into each element of our spaces. We created a jungle with our wallpaper, brought in artwork that makes you feel as though you’re living in an art gallery, and created spaces that feel like a home away from home. The devil is in the details and as we look to launch The Quorum in Mumbai, we’re delighted to be going through the madness all over again.
