As the country makes room for new development projects, the increasing demand for faucets and tiles has lead to 7%-8% growth in construction sector. The demand for <a href="https://www.business-standard.com/search?type=news&amp;q=industrial+ceramic+products">industrial </a>ceramic products such as ceramic tiles, sanitary wares and pipes required in construction applications too are expected to increase. Given that the government has announced an investment of $376.5 billion in infrastructure by 2020, the ceramic industry “expects a huge growth in volume,” Tarun Marwah, Director, Messe Muenchen India, told IANS. He noted that the industry is divided equally into two — organised sector comprising large players and unorganised sector. India has also been stepping up its efforts to increase reach for the global ceramic market. According to the current data, 70% of the total output comes from Gujarat alone. The Morbi ceramic industry in Gujarat will receive an estimated investment of ₹15 billion in 2019, with plans to establish 50 new wall tiles manufacturing plants. The world's third largest ceramic industry is banking on India's love for gaudy tiles

Largely impacted by the ban, the tile manufacturing units have <a href="https://realty.economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/allied-industries/ngts-order-banning-coal-gasifiers-in-morbi-to-adversely-impact-tile-industry-icra/68373711">shut down</a>, switching to natural gas as an alternate. The switch, however, may increase fuel expenses for the manufacturers considering the PNG prices. Hope floats that this would close the price gap between unorganised players in Morbi and branded tile makers like Kajaria Ceramics, Somany Ceramics, Cera Sanitaryware, and Asian Granito and help these companies gain market share. According to media reports, of the 800 ceramic units in total, over 400 wall tile plants running majorly on coal gasifiers have been closed so far owing to shortage of raw material that has been impacting the operation costs for these units. The Morbi ceramic industry had expected a huge growth. In fact, the industry is reportedly planning to establish 50 new wall tiles manufacturing plants. After the ban on March 6, the production has reportedly <a href="https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/ahmedabad/after-ngt-crackdown-450-ceramic-units-prepare-to-switch-to-gas/articleshow/68365929.cms">dropped</a> by 60%-70%. "Among these units, those most affected will be the wall tile and soluble salt tile manufacturers as they were meeting nearly their entire thermal energy requirements through coal gasifiers," Suprio Banerjee, vice president and head, Mid-Corporate ratings of ICRA reportedly said. India being the third largest ceramic producer in the world has been eyeing the global market. Given the fact that nearly <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/ceramic-industry-to-double-turnover-by-2021-thanks-to-real-estate-affordable-housing/articleshow/68217546.cms">70% of total output</a> in the ceramic industry comes from Gujarat alone, the new regulations may also affect the large ceramic players. The ceramic industry is equally bifurcated into two — organised players comprising large ceramic producers and unorganised players. While for the unorganised players, tighter tax compliance and stretched working capital requirements has put forth an urgent need to raise prices by nearly 15%–20% due to raw material shortage, the organised players are still projecting a positive graph, benefitted either by market share or margin, Edelweiss Securities said in a report. Over 400 tile makers in one area in Gujarat have shut down after a ban on coal gasifiers

New Delhi, Feb 26 () AjnaLens (Dimension NXG) on Wednesday said it has raised USD 1.5 million in a funding round led by Maharashtra Defence and Aerospace Venture Fund (MDAVF).Other HNI investors such as Nailesh Khimji, Chirayu Khimji, Jay Jesrani and Mohsin Group also participated in the pre-series A round, a statement said.Founded in November 2014 by Pankaj Raut, Abhishek Tomar and Abhijit Patil, AjnaLens develops mixed reality glasses for defence, education and enterprise customers.The startup will primarily use the funds to enhance its defence offering, manufacturing headsets, improving technology and product capabilities, the statement said. It also intends to invest the funding for talent acquisition and market expansion."The tech industry is evolving at a rapid pace and the government as well as the educational institutes are also embracing this change...we were encouraged and provided complete support to design and manufacture all our products in India," AjnaLens co-founder and CEO Pankaj Raut said.Previously, Dimension NXG has raised funding from Vijay Shekhar Sharma (Paytm founder), Japan Vyas (Roots Ventures founder) and Chetan Kajaria (Joint Managing Director at Kajaria Ceramics) among others. AjnaLens raises $1.5 mn from Maharashtra Defence and Aerospace Venture Fund, others

The market is excited about the NDA government’s plan to develop 100 new smart cities as it could boost demand for several other industries.

Construction of new houses for the smart cities will improve cement demand. The slowdown has resulted in subdued demand over the past two years. But the likely increase in demand will not only give volume growth, but should give pricing power, which would result in higher profitability.

In fiscal 2014, its loan book grew 20% year-on-year.

	In addition, post its reverse merger in 2013, the company became a housing finance company, which will result in lower cost of funds. What makes LIC Housing Finance a likely winner is strong brand recognition. The shares of Indiabulls Housing Finance and LIC Housing Finance are trading at a price-to-book value of 2.2 and 2.1, respectively. Considering the expected growth, these stocks look attractive at this level.
 
 
HSIL and Kajaria Ceramics 
 
Despite the slowdown over the past few years, the sanitary-ware and ceramics businesses of these companies have grown at more than 20% and that too without compromising on the profitability or operating margins. HSIL manufactures bathroom products while Kajaria is mainly into tiles manufacturing.

	Both have strong dealer networks across India. They have both added new capacities recently and have plans to expand further to cater to rising demand. Shares of HSIL have given a return of 159% year-to-date and Kajaria Ceramics 70%. Analysts continue to be bullish on these stocks.
 
 
Havells India and Orient Paper 
 
Construction of new cities will result in huge demand for cables, switchgear, lights, bulbs and fans. While Havells has all these in its portfolio, Orient Pa-per (Orient Electrical) is one of the oldest fan manufacturing companies and its other product categories include lighting, water heaters and kitchen appliances.
