<keyword id="6354552" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="hyderabad" source="Orion">Hyderabad</keyword> on Monday achieved the distinction of becoming first Indian candidate city to host <keyword id="1378541" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="formula-e" source="Orion">Formula E</keyword> world championship and is expected to host the first race of electric cars between November this year and March 2023. The <keyword id="68884" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="telangana" source="Orion">Telangana</keyword> government and Formula E Association along with promoter of the event, <keyword id="405998" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="greenko" source="Orion">Greenko</keyword> signed a letter of intent to make Hyderabad a candidate host city for hosting Formula E race on yearly basis. The tripartite letter of intent was signed in Hyderabad in the presence of Telangana's Industry Minister <keyword id="3863563" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="k-t-rama-rao" source="Orion">K. T. Rama Rao</keyword>, FIA Formula E Chief Championship Officer Alberto Longo, Greenko Group Chief Executive Officer Anil Chalamasetty, <keyword id="583864" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="mahindra-racing" source="Orion">Mahindra Racing</keyword> CEO and Team Principal Dilbagh Gill and other officials. Hyderabad will join the elite club of Rome, Paris, London, Hong Kong, New York and Berlin. Eighteen cities around the world are hosting the race organised every year by the Federation of Internationale de Automobile. Alberto was impressed with the speed with which the Telangana government moved to sign the letter of intent in less than a month since the idea was mooted. He said he had never seen a government taking decisions at such a speed. He said Hyderabad would soon become official host city with first race happening between December 2022 and March 2023. Rama Rao said hosting Formula E is the right step to position Hyderabad as electric vehicles hub. "It's more than a race. It's the perfect combination of future technology, sustainability and most importantly spirit of innovation," he said. He hoped that the event will give a big fillip to the city's image and infrastructure. The state government plans to promote awareness around EVs and encourage innovation by hosting an EV summit parallel to the Formula E championship. Leading EV players and charging infrastructure companies from around the world will be invited for the EV Summit. Stating that India is going to witness revolution of electric vehicles, the minister said Telangana wants to be the epicentre of this revolution. KTR, as the minister is popularly known, said Formula E from FIA family is the fastest growing sport with viewership being more than half of Formula One. He said the popularity of Formula One is increasing every year and it is expected that by the end of the decade, it will equal Formula One in the popularity. He said Hyderabad has everything in place to host the event. "Hyderabad is the most logical and natural choice to host Formula E," he said. The minister claimed that Telangana has done extremely well in 7.5 years in meeting energy challenges. The state's energy output grew four-fold in 7 years and 20 per cent of this came from green energy. He also pointed out that in seven years, the state planted more than 2 billion saplings. More than 80 per cent of these saplings survived, taking green cover to a massive 632 square kilometers in last two years. KTR said among Indian cities Hyderabad has highest greening in last decade. The green cover grew by 147 per cent, beating Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Chennai. Telangana's Director for Electric Vehicles and Energy Storage Systems Sujai Karampuri hoped that an agreement to make Hyderabad an official host city will be signed in next 90 days or much earlier. He pointed out that 60 cities around the world were vying to host Formula E and of them 24 cities are really strong candidates. He said the organisers were impressed with the 2.3 km long race track overlooking Hussain Sagar lake in the heart of the city. Gill, who heads the only Indian team participating in Formula E race, said they will soon have an opportunity to race in front of the home crowd. According to him, Formula E is significant as technology transfer from race car to roll car happens in 18 months. Veteran Telugu superstar Chiranjeevi recognised by Guinness World Records as "most prolific film star" in Indian Cinema

With incidences of young men suddenly collapsing and succumbing to cardiac arrests on rise in Telangana, the state government has embarked on a programme to train one lakh people in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training and placed orders for 1,400 defibrillators for deploying them in public places. The health department has taken the initiative to train one lakh people in CPR. Health Minister T. Harish Rao along with municipal administration minister K. T. <keyword id="82835" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="rama-rao" source="Orion">Rama Rao</keyword> launched the programme on Wednesday in association with GVK Emergency Management Research Institute (EMRI). The ministers voiced concern over the growing number of people succumbing to cardiac arrests. Rama Rao said the visuals of a 24-year-old police constable succumbing to cardiac arrest while working out at a gym and another 19-year-old collapsing while dancing were shocking. Telangana witnessed four such cases in a span of 10 days. Three deaths occurred in <keyword id="6354552" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="hyderabad" source="Orion">Hyderabad</keyword> alone. The minister said if people are trained in CPR, they can help save lives in such emergencies. CPR-trained people will be deployed in public places like bus and railway stations, malls and government offices. Harish Rao said that the statistics show that 4,000 people are falling to sudden cardiac arrest everyday and according to the World Health Organization (WHO), nine out of 10 people can be saved with methods like CPR and use of defibrillators. Meanwhile, minister <keyword id="6357854" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="ktr" source="Orion">KTR</keyword> has also announced that orders for 1,400 defibrillators (AEDs) have been placed. KTR announced this in response to a tweet by senior interventional cardiologist. The minister said the number of defibrillators will be increased going forward. Automatic External Defibrillators (AEDs) will be deployed in public areas. Dr <keyword id="4463080" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="mukharjee-madivada" source="Orion">Mukharjee Madivada</keyword> had recently suggested to KTR to install defibrillators in public places in Hyderabad as these will save lives. He had pointed out that sudden death is becoming more common especially after the Covid pandemic. "CPR can save a significant number of people who experience sudden cardiac arrest. AED is a critical part of CPR and even lay people can use it with a simple training and public access defibrillators are already installed in majority of world class cities," the doctor had tweeted. According to <keyword id="16681152" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="dr-hari-ram" source="Orion">Dr Hari Ram</keyword>, Senior consultant and head, interventional cardiologist, SLG Hospitals, Hyderabad, bystander CPR can be initiated by the public also. The cardiologist says while AED are available in few places, people need to know how to use this device. Delay of initial treatment leads to decreased blood supply to all important organs like heart, brain, liver, kidney, gut and lungs. A man collapsed and died while playing badminton at Jayashankar Indoor Stadium Lalapet in Hyderabad on Tuesday. This was the fourth such incident in Telangana in 10 days. CCTV footage of these incidents have gone viral on social media. Visuals of young men collapsing while working out in the gym or dancing during the wedding or playing games have shocked people. On February 25, a 19-year-old collapsed and died while dancing at a wedding of his relative in Nirmal district. Mutyam, a native of Maharashtra, was dancing at the wedding reception of a relative in Pardi Avillage of Kubeer mandal of Nirmal district. A 24-year-old police constable died of cardiac arrest while working out at a gym in Hyderabad on February 22. On February 20, a man collapsed and died during a Haldi ceremony as part of the wedding of his relative in Hyderabad. The 40-year-old man was applying turmeric to the groom when he suddenly collapsed and died before he could be taken to a hospital. Hyderabad to install 1,400 defibrillators in public places as cardiac arrests rise

The 3 million square feet building is coming up at Gachibowli, the information technology cluster. The company also unveiled the design of the campus coming up at the 7.3-acre site it acquired in 2019. <keyword id="68884" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="telangana" source="Orion">Telangana</keyword>'s Information Technology Minister K.T. Rama Rao said he was super excited to break the ground for Google's largest campus outside of their headquarters at Mountain View, the US. The building prioritises sustainability and energy efficiency throughout its design. Upon commissioning, it will offer a highly skilled tech workforce a healthy, collaborative workplace that is both resilient and adaptable, designed to serve the city for years to come, Google said. "I am pleased that Google is deepening its roots in <keyword id="6354552" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="hyderabad" source="Orion">Hyderabad</keyword> through this landmark building which incorporates sustainability into its design, keeping in mind Hyderabad's large and future-focused talent pool," said Rama Rao, who unveiled the building design at a ceremony held onsite. The campus was originally planned as a 2 million square facility with an investment of Rs 1,000 crore. An agreement was signed between the Telangana government and Google in 2015 when Rama Rao had visited the company headquarters in California. Google currently operates out of a leased facility in Kondapur in Hyderabad and employs about 7,000 people. The new campus, which was earlier expected to be ready in 2019, is likely to nearly double the headcount. Meanwhile, Google on Thursday signed an MoU with the Telangana government to support and accelerate its vision of leveraging technology for sustainable economic development and inclusive social development. Under this new initiative, Google will collaborate with the government through its various arms to extend scholarships for Google Career Certificates to Telangana's youth, support women entrepreneurs through digital, business and financial skills training, and strengthen the government's school modernisation efforts with digital teaching and learning tools and solutions. As part of the joint effort, Google will also support the Telangana government's efforts to improve public transportation and use of digital technologies in agriculture. KTR, as the minister is popularly called, noted that Google has been working with the Telangana government since 2017, using its solutions to support "our vision of a Digital Telangana and furthering our mutual aim of making every citizen digitally empowered". "Our previous MoUs with them have resulted in some great initiatives that have positively affected citizens from all walks of life. This time we are focusing on making a step-change in communities such as youth, women, and students and in citizen services," he said.
