In reality, Jupiter and Saturn will be 400 million miles apart.</li><li>The alignment will create a radiant point of light in the night sky. It is being dubbed as the ‘<keyword id="864236" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Christmas-star">Christmas Star</keyword>’ or the ‘Star of <keyword id="232425" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Bethlehem">Bethlehem</keyword>’ due to the proximity of the celestial event to Christmas. The event is dubbed the ‘great conjunction’. However, this year is the first time they’ll be lining up in the month of December and it’s the closest the planets have been since 1623. <br /><br />According to NASA, it's the ‘greatest’ of all great conjunctions between Jupiter and Saturn. Jupiter and Saturn will reunite after 800 years on the shortest day of the year to form a rare 'Christmas star'

<ul><li>The National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s (<keyword id="6360409" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Nasa">NASA</keyword>) <keyword id="43700" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Hubble-Telescope">Hubble telescope</keyword> has caught a <keyword id="10833403" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="centaur-comet">Centaur comet</keyword> entering the orbit around <keyword id="34757" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Jupiter">Jupiter</keyword> on camera for the very first time.</li><li>The images show that it is currently amidst Jupiter’s ancient <keyword id="81841" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Asteroids">asteroids</keyword> called Trojans.</li><li>Scientists who made the discovery speculate that the <keyword id="158876" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="comet">comet</keyword> had to have entered Jupiter’s orbit at just the right trajectory in order for this to happen.</li></ul>A centaur flying into a bunch of trojans sounds like the beginning of a bad joke, but that is exactly what is happening in the orbit of our solar system’s largest planet, Jupiter.<br /><br />For the very first time, a Centaur comet has been caught on camera amidst Jupiter’s ancient asteroids called Trojans using the National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s (<a href="https://www.nasa.gov/feature/goddard/2021/comet-makes-a-pit-stop-near-jupiters-asteroids">NASA</a>) legendary Hubble Telescope.<br /><br /><div type="javascript" title="Custom" contenttype="Video"><cdata><![CDATA[]]></cdata></div><br />Centaurs are small icy rocks that orbit the Sun between Jupiter and <keyword id="175328" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Neptune">Neptune</keyword>. Every once in a while, as they get closer to the Sun, these unstable balls of ice transform into comets upon being heated up. <br /><br />Trojans, on the other hand, are asteroids that only orbit Jupiter. There are over a million of them larger than 1 kilometer in diameter — that’s almost the same number of asteroids in the asteroid belt that divides the solar system’s inner four planets from the outer four.<br /><br />"The cool thing is that you are actually catching Jupiter flinging this object around and changing its orbital behavior and bringing it into the inner system," said team member Carey Lisse of the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) in a <a href="https://www.nasa.gov/feature/goddard/2021/comet-makes-a-pit-stop-near-jupiters-asteroids">statement.</a> <br /><br />The solar system is made up of two parts, the inner system and the outer system, divided by the asteroid belt. The inner system consists of Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars while the outer system is made up of Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune.<br /><br /><div type="image" title="planets_edited" msid="81227807" hostid="261" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;The asteroid belt lies dividing the inner and outer solar system lies between Mars and Jupiter&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div><br /><strong>How did this happen?<br /></strong>Honestly, even NASA does not know. Scientists who made the discovery speculate that the comet had to have entered Jupiter’s orbit at just the right trajectory to not burn up, and not just fly by either. <br /><br />"Jupiter controls what is going on with comets once they get into the inner system by altering their orbits," explained Lisse.<br /><br />One possible explanation is that the Centaur, dubbed P/2019 LD2, is likely the latest member of the ‘bucket brigade’. These are comets that get kicked out of the <keyword id="166066" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Kuiper-belt">Kuiper belt</keyword> and into the orbits of large planets due to interactions with another Kuiper belt object before getting caught in a game of celestial pinball.<br /><br /><div type="image" title="kuiper belt." msid="81227818" hostid="261" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;The Kuiper Belt lies along the outer edges of the solar system&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div><br />The Kuiper belt is the asteroid belt’s outer solar system cousin. The haven of icy, leftover debris from our planet’s construction 4.6 billion years ago is located beyond even Neptune’s orbit. It contains millions of objects. Every once in a while, these objects have near misses or collisions that drastically alter their orbits from the Kuiper belt inward into the giant planet region.<br /><br />And, P/2019 LD2, is likely one of the many icy relics on a bumpy towards the Sun. According to the researchers at NASA, members of the bucket brigade can spend nearly five million years sucked into the gravity of a large planet before crossing over into the inner solar system.<br /><br />On the other hand, it i also possible that the Centaur will never make the crossing. A comet has been spotted among Jupiter's ancient asteroids for the very first time

<ul class="summary-list"><li><keyword id="3080156" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Bestinvest">BestInvest</keyword>, an online investment platform, just released their twice-yearly "<keyword id="10799202" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="spot-the-dog">Spot the Dog</keyword>" report.</li><li>The report analyses the worst-performing funds across different sectors.</li><li>These are the five firms that had the most assets under management in the list.</li></ul><p>Even the biggest names in asset management can get it wrong and BestInvest just called out some of the top losers.</p><p>In its twice-yearly 'Spot the Dog' report, the online investment service names and shames the top underperforming funds and firms, and <keyword id="365425" type="COMPANY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Invesco">Invesco</keyword> has topped the list for the sixth time in a row.</p><p>"The top slot in Spot the Dog continues to be held by Invesco with 11 funds totalling £9.2 billion. Four of these funds are Tibetan Mastiff-sized beasts," the report said.</p><p>However, the report, which doesn't win any popularity contest among fund managers, does note that Invesco's number of funds that made the list has fallen this time.</p><h2>What is a 'dog fund'?</h2><p>So how does BestInvest identify the funds that fall into this somewhat cruel category using two filters?</p><p>First, it filters by fund universe to identify "those that have failed to beat the benchmark over three consecutive 12-month periods," the report said.</p><p>The benchmark chosen by BestInvest is determined by the sector the fund, designating one that operates in an index that "represents the overall movements in the market that the fund operates in," it said.</p><p>This highlights those that have consistently underperformed and allows the research to remove those that "may simply have had a short run of bad luck," it added.</p><p>Secondly, the funds must have underperformed the benchmark by 5% or more over the entire three-year period of analysis.</p><h2>The Kennel Club</h2><p>These are the firms with the most assets under management, which made the list because of their "dog funds":</p><h3>1. Invesco</h3><p>For the sixth time running, Invesco has landed the top "dog" spot, with 11 funds making the list, worth £9.2 billion in total. Admittedly, this is down from 13 funds valued at £11.4 billion from the last report.</p><p>Two of the firm's funds were repeat offenders on the list: Invesco's UK Equity High Income and UK Equity Income funds, delivering -21% and -19% respectively over a three year period compared to the benchmark.</p><p>But, in the firm's defence these funds were only recently handed to new managers, "who are now tasked with turning them around," the report said.</p><p>Moreover, Invesco has gone through a broad shakeup over the last year after the appointment of a new chief investment officer, Stephanie Butcher.</p><p>"This is clearly a work in progress," the report added.</p><h3>2. <keyword id="34757" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Jupiter">Jupiter</keyword></h3><p>The UK-based firm Jupiter leapt up the rankings from ninth to second place in this report following its July 2020 acquisition of Merian Global Investors, making it "rescue home for two sizeable beasts," the note said</p><p>The now enlarged group oversees 8 "dog funds", totalling £4.1 billion of assets. The biggest of these is the Merian North American Equity fund, which has seen a -14% return in the last three years compared to the benchmark.</p><h3>3. St. James Place</h3><p>St James's Place's (<keyword id="282529" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="60" keywordseo="SJP">SJP</keyword>) in-house fund range has frequently "lurked near the top spot in the hall of shame" and sits in third position with four funds totalling £4 billion, the report said.</p><p>The number of SJP funds that made this edition has halved since the last with the SJP UK High Income fund, previously managed by fallen star <keyword id="2498128" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Neil-Woodford">Neil Woodford</keyword>, escaping the shaming.</p><p>The SJP Global Smaller Companies fund was one of this edition's biggest losers in the Global sector, coming fifth in that particular list and trailing the benchmark by -32%.</p><h3>4. <keyword id="133746" type="COMPANY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Schroders">Schroders</keyword></h3><p>Schroders took this edition's fourth place after it number of funds to make the list rose to 11, with an increase of £4 billion in asset.</p><p>Three of the Schroder's included are managed by its QEP team, the report highlight, who use a "systematic, data driven investment process."</p><p>Both the Schroder European Recovery and Global Recovery funds - which target undervalued companies - made the list, underperforming the benchmark -22% and -33% respectively. These, and the firm's income funds <keyword id="35175" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="investing">investing</keyword> in the US, Europe and globally, struggled in the 2020 environment where 'growth' stocks significantly outperformed.</p><p>These growth sectors include technology and communications services which have been the biggest 'COVID-winners', like video-conferencing software Zoom and EV company Tesla.</p><p>Therefore, growth strategies largely left funds targeting undervalued companies or dividend-generating businesses lagging in the dust during 2020.</p><p>However, if the global economy recovers as most banks are forecasting, these 'recovery' or 'value' plays could catch-up, making significant gains.</p><p>Of note, the report excluded the £3.3 billion 'dog fund' managed by the firm in its joint venture with Lloyds Bank.</p><h3>5. <keyword id="188135" type="COMPANY" weightage="60" keywordseo="JPMorgan-Asset-Management">JPMorgan Asset Management</keyword></h3><p>JPMorgan's inclusion in the top five came down solely due to the JP Morgan US Equity Income fund with its huge  £3.2 billion in AUM, which fell -27% below the benchmark, the report said.</p><p>Unfortunately for JPMAM, the fund has been underweight technology stocks in a period when companies like FAANG and tech cult names like Tesla have been market leaders, as many tech companies do not pay dividends.</p><p>But, like Schroders, this could turn around if value sectors like Banks and energy - which are the main dividend payers - catch up on any economic recovery.</p>

BestInvest calls out the top 5 worst performing asset management firms, with Invesco taking pole position for the sixth time running

In addition to being the cheapest construction material on Earth, red bricks may also have the potential to serve as long-lasting batteries. <br /><br />A new use-case presented by researchers at Washington University shows how red bricks can be turned into <keyword id="1609428" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="energy-storage">energy storage</keyword> units that can be charged to hold electricity, like a battery. <br /><br />It’s not a new kind of brick, and it’s not a unique creation from some lab. These red bricks are ordinary, run-of-the-mill, red bricks that are available at any construction site.<br /><br />This means all the large amounts of space already occupied by walls, buildings and multiplexes could be utilised better if it has an additional purpose for electricity storage. If implemented on a large scale, this means every wall, staircase and fireplace could essentially serve as a <keyword id="1579653" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Power-Bank">power bank</keyword>. <br /><br /><strong>How can a red brick charge your phone?<br /></strong>In the proof-of-concept, the researchers showed a red brick using electricity to light up a small green bulb.<br /><br />The brick itself is nothing special. “The work that we have published in Nature Communications stems from bricks that we bought at Home Depot right in Brentwood, Missouri, each brick was 65 cents,” said Julio D’Arcy, one of the research team members.<br /><br />Ordinary red bricks can be converted into energy storage devices called <keyword id="1916041" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="supercapacitors">supercapacitors</keyword> by coating the brick with PEDOT, a conductive polymer. It’s made up of nanofibers that work through the network of a brick. <br /><br />Once applied, the red pigments in the bricks — essentially iron oxide or rust — trigger the polymerisation reaction. With this, the coating remains trapped in the brick serving as an ion sponge that can store and conduct electricity.<br /><br />"PEDOT-coated bricks are ideal building blocks that can provide power to emergency lighting," D'Arcy said. <br /><br />Such a solution could have numerous applications in developing countries, like India, where energy supply is not reliable. With PEDOT-coated red bricks, your house would essentially be able to power itself.<br /><br />"Advantageously, a brick wall serving as a supercapacitor can be recharged hundreds of thousands of times within an hour. <p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"><p class="source"><span>Getty Images / Stephanie Keith</span></p></div><p></p></div></div></p><ul><li><strong>History suggests the stock market will be strong in March and April, according to Bank of America Merrill Lynch's technical analysis team.</strong></li><li><strong>The firm provides two charts that uphold its expectation for equity gains over the next two months.</strong></li></ul><p>The next two months should treat the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/category/stock-market" target="_blank" rel="noopener">stock market</a> well - at least if history is any indication.</p><p>The technical analysis team at <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/category/bank-of-america-merrill-lynch" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Bank of America Merrill Lynch</a> has looked at past monthly performance for the benchmark <a href="http://markets.businessinsider.com/index/s&amp;p_500" target="_blank" rel="noopener">S&amp;P 500</a>, dating all the way back to 1928, and concluded that March and April provide a sweet spot of sorts for equity investors.</p><p>The first chart below shows the S&amp;P 500 has, on average, risen 0.62% in March and 1.22% in April. Those are vast improvements upon past Februarys, which have lost money, while also featuring a higher percentage likelihood of the benchmark being positive for the month (as indicated by the yellow line).</p><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"><p class="source"><span>Bank of America Merrill Lynch</span></p></div><p></p></div></div></p><p>"Seasonality tends to improve in March and April," Stephen Suttmeier, a technical research analyst at BAML, wrote in a client note. "The next month with more challenging seasonality is May."</p><p>The second chart address six-month stretches for the S&amp;P 500, all with different monthly ending points. BAML points out that we're entering the final two months of the November-to-April span, which has historically been the strongest period of the 12 being compared.</p><p>That's true both on a return basis - the S&amp;P 500 has gained 5.39% on average over the period - and based on percentage likelihood of a positive month (70.8%).</p><p>Judging by Wall Street year-end forecasts, BAML's technicals-driven forecast for two months of gains doesn't seem too outlandish. Once a rebound gets underway, pessimists are already looking for reasons another one can transpire.</p><p>In this case, the skeptic is <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/category/bank-of-america-merrill-lynch" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Bank of America Merrill Lynch</a> chief investment strategist <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/category/michael-hartnett" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Michael Hartnett</a>, who's gone as far as to identify six possible drivers of another $6 trillion stock market selloff.</p><p>This bearish commentary should come as no surprise for followers of Hartnett's work. For months he's decried what he calls the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/stock-market-icarus-trade-could-pop-bubble-2017-7" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Icarus trade</a><span>, defined as a reversal of the "melt up" seen in stocks since early 2016. He also issued a <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/stock-market-sell-signal-bank-of-america-warns-as-equities-tumble-2018-2" target="_blank" rel="noopener">strong sell signal</a> right before the stock market's recent 10% correction. He's even gone as far as to outline a <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/stock-market-correction-bank-of-america-has-formula-for-meltdown-2018-1" target="_blank" rel="noopener">four-part formula for a market meltdown</a>.</span></p><p><span>Put simply, Hartnett is no big fan of this rally - at least in its current form. For further proof of that, </span><span>here are his six reasons the equity market could see another correction:</span></p><h2><span>1) Positioning</span></h2><p><span>One of Hartnett's main bearish arguments has long been what he describes in his most recent client note as "peaking optimism." He views extreme investor confidence as a bad thing in the long run, because it makes traders blind to risks.</span></p><p><span>In order to track this, he maintains the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/stock-market-sell-signal-bank-of-america-warns-as-equities-tumble-2018-2" target="_blank" rel="noopener">BAML Bull &amp; Bear Indicator</a>, which provides a signal for market sentiment. While the gauge has fallen out of the "extreme bullish" territory that preceded the recent correction, Hartnett notes it's still very high. He also cites the $17.7 billion that flowed back into equities after a <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/2-secret-weapons-keeping-stock-market-afloat-amid-record-outflows-2018-3" target="_blank" rel="noopener">massive exodus</a> occurred during the selloff.</span></p><p><span>Here's where the Bull &amp; Bear gauge stands today:</span></p><p><span><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"><p class="source"><span>Bank of America Merrill Lynch</span></p></div><p></p></div></div></span></p><h2><span>2) Profits</span></h2><p><span><a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/category/earnings-growth" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Earnings growth</a> has been the foremost driver of stock price appreciation throughout the nine-year bull market - but what happens if it slows down? That's what has Hartnett worried. He argues the "whatever it takes" ethos that's been adopted by global <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/category/central-banks" target="_blank" rel="noopener">central banks</a> has to fade at some point, and notes stimulus is already drying up. That's unfortunate for stock bulls, considering central bank accommodation has for years supplied a seemingly endless supply of fresh capital.</span></p><h2><span>4) Protectionism</span></h2><p><span>This is perhaps the most timely driver, considering President <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/category/donald-trump" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Donald Trump</a>'s recent announcement that he'll seek <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/trump-tariffs-taxes-on-imports-of-steel-aluminum-could-be-trade-war-2018-3" target="_blank" rel="noopener">huge tariffs on steel and aluminum</a>, and his subsequent comment that "<a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/trump-tweets-trade-wars-are-good-day-after-steel-aluminum-tariffs-2018-3" target="_blank" rel="noopener">trade wars are good</a>." Hartnett warns "deflationary" behavior may be required to stop the escalation of a trade war - which would mean lower stock prices and lower yields.</span></p><h2><span>5) Price action</span></h2><p><span>For this section of Hartnett's bearish playbook, he highlights a few stock market dynamics he finds anomalous, particularly compared to recent history. He notes <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/category/tech-stocks" target="_blank" rel="noopener">tech stocks</a> at large are failing to make new highs, while credit spreads aren't hitting new lows, and homebuilders are.</span></p><p><span>Beyond that, Hartnett says global stocks are now underperforming global government bonds year-to-date, which he considers to be a troubling sign. The logic here is simple: If what got the stock market to near-record levels is no longer working, where is there to go but down?</span></p><h2><span>6) Pain</span></h2><p><span>The last section deals with three hot-button topics: <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/category/inflation" target="_blank" rel="noopener">inflation</a>, rates, and <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/category/volatility" target="_blank" rel="noopener">volatility</a>. Locked for years near historical lows, all three have started climbing, which Hartnett says has been "challenging bullish consensus." </span><span></span><span></span><span>And based on how new developments around each driver have put pressure on stocks in recent months, he would seem to have a point.</span><span></span><span></span></p><h2>There is some good news</h2><p>Had enough bearish content? <p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"><p class="source"><span>Shutterstock</span></p></div><p></p></div></div></p><ul><li><strong>New York taxi data examined by a Chicago Booth PhD candidate shows increased activity around the Federal Reserve Bank of New York - exactly around the Fed's eight yearly policy meetings.</strong></li><li><strong>The new data is the latest evidence of conflicts of interest at one of the regional Fed banks whose principal role is supposed to be supervising Wall Street.</strong></li><li><strong>Cozy ties between bankers and regulators have led to public calls for a next New York Fed president with fewer financial links. Its current president William Dudley is a former Goldman Sachs banker.</strong></li></ul><p>The Federal Reserve Bank of New York is facing <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/new-york-fed-conflicts-hurt-ability-to-regulate-wall-street-banks-2018-3">growing public pressure</a> to name a new president who, unlike all of the 10 leaders of the regional central bank's history, is not a white male with ties to Wall Street.</p><p>A new study published by the University of Chicago's Booth School of Business offers a new source of evidence that, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/dudley-retirement-opens-door-to-conflict-free-nominee-at-ny-fed-2017-11">as has often been reported</a>, New York Fed officials are way too close to the bankers they are supposed to be supervising.</p><p><span>Ingeniously, the paper's author, Booth PhD candidate David Andrew Finer, tracks anonymous New York City taxi data "</span><span>to infer variation in interactions between insiders of the New York Fed and insiders of major commercial banks around Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meetings."</span></p><p><span>Even small bits of insight into the Fed's deliberations on monetary policy can be worth millions of dollars to Wall Street investors, since most financial markets are highly sensitive to changes in expectations for Federal Reserve interest rates moves. The recent spike in volatility in stocks and bonds has been linked to rising expectations for more aggressive interest rate increases from the central bank, which has raised interest rates five times since December 2015.</span></p><h2><span>Yellow cab proxies</span></h2><p><span>Taxi rides between the New York Fed's immediate surroundings and major commercial bank buildings "serve as indicators of meetings at those institutions, and coincidental drop-offs of passengers picked up around those institutions serve as indicators of offsite meetings," Finer says. </span></p><p><span>"I find highly statistically significant evidence of increases in meetings at the New York Fed late at night and in offsite meetings during typical lunch hours," he adds, in line with the hypothesis of a 2016 paper that posited "systematic leakage from the Federal Reserve around FOMC meetings along unofficial channels."</span><span></span></p><p><span>(My own reporting has found <a href="https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-fed/special-report-the-ties-that-bind-at-the-federal-reserve-idUSTRE68S010">extensive evidence</a> of such information sharing not just at the New York Fed but also at the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/federal-reserves-fischer-held-private-talk-at-brookings-2017-4">Fed's powerful Washington-based board.</a>)</span></p><p><span>Disturbingly, Finer identifies a spike in "late-night rides from the major commercial banks to the New York Fed soon after the end of the FOMC communications blackout." Fed officials are barred from speaking publicly until midnight on the Friday after mid-week policy meetings.</span></p><p>In addition, he looks at the volume of "coincidental drop-offs of passengers who depart from the vicinity of the New York Fed and the major commercial banks" and finds that "coincidences around noon are consistently and strikingly elevated in the days around FOMC meetings."</p><p><span>For the Fed Up coalition, a group of community organizations led by the Center for Popular Democracy in Washington, the first step in addressing such egregious conflicts is a change in leadership. </span></p><p><span>The New York Fed's outgoing president is William Dudley, a former Goldman Sachs partner. </span></p><p><span>"The New York Federal Reserve must select a new President who will put the interests of the public before Wall Street," Fed Up said in a <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/new-york-fed-conflicts-hurt-ability-to-regulate-wall-street-banks-2018-3">recent report</a>. <p>In 1980 Hope realized that while <span>t<span>he 1967 United Nations Outer Space Treaty said no country could own the moon, it said nothing about individuals. </span></span></p>
<p><span><span>So he<span> </span><span>wrote a letter to the United Nations claiming ownership of the moon and asking for a </span></span></span><span style="font-size: 15px; line-height: 1.5em;">legal reason why an individual couldn't claim ownership. He hasn't <span>heard back</span>.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 15px; line-height: 1.5em;">Ever since Hope, 65, has sold <span>lunar land certificates</span> at around $24-per-acre, including sales to Barbara Walters<span>, Tom Cruise, John Travolta, and Nicole Kidman in addition to f</span><span style="font-size: 15px; line-height: 1.5em;">ormer U.S. presidents </span><span style="font-size: 15px; line-height: 1.5em;">George H.W. Bush, Jimmy Carter, and Ronald Reagan.</span></span></p>
<p><span><span>The Gardnerville, Nev.,</span> resident once sold a "country-sized" plot of land — 2.66 million acres — for $250,000, <a href="http://www.usnews.com/news/articles/2013/03/25/meet-the-man-who-owns-the-moon?utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_source=pulsenews&amp;page=2">according</a> to U.S. News and World report. He says that <span>in 2011 a group offered him $50 million for <span> the moon's north pole</span>, but he declined the offer.</span></span></p>
<p><span>Frans von der Dunk, professor of Space Law at the University of Nebraska, <a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2013/03/11/opinion/the-man-who-sells-the-moon.html">told</a> The New York Times that Hope's ownership is "either a hollow claim or a fraud."</span></p>

<p><span><span><span><span>"We have no problem with exploration, but as for anyone building anything of permanence, they don't own the land," Hope <a href="http://www.usnews.com/news/articles/2013/03/25/meet-the-man-who-owns-the-moon?utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_source=pulsenews">told</a> U.S. News &amp; World Report. "That would be like Canada coming down to the United States and building a facility without asking permission.</span></span></span></span></p>
