<ul class="summary-list"><li>Jess Jordan was originally a more minor role on "<keyword id="11984859" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="succession" source="Orion">Succession</keyword>," <keyword id="12683590" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="juliana-canfield" source="Orion">Juliana Canfield</keyword> told The Cut.</li><li><keyword id="12205489" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="jeremy-strong" source="Orion">Jeremy Strong</keyword>, who plays Kendall Roy, requested his on-screen assistant appear in more scenes.</li></ul><p>Fans of Kendall Roy's assistant Jess Jordan have <a href="https://www.insider.com/category/jeremy-strong">Jeremy Strong</a> to thank for the character's prominent screen time on "<a href="https://insider.com/category/succession">Succession</a>," actress Juliana Canfield said on Monday.</p><p>On the first three seasons of Jesse Armstrong's <keyword id="11921392" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="hbo" source="Orion">HBO</keyword> series, the 29-year-old plays Jess, the unwaveringly loyal right hand to Strong's Kendall, the volatile middle son of media titan Logan Roy (<a href="https://www.insider.com/category/brian-cox">Brian Cox</a>). Strong famously gets into character by a process he calls "<a href="https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2021/12/13/on-succession-jeremy-strong-doesnt-get-the-joke?utm_social-type=owned&amp;utm_brand=tny&amp;utm_source=facebook&amp;mbid=social_facebook&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;fbclid=IwAR1NqjI_XK3GV8z1SXfF3GYJ02d6WkprSEjmuOiV6dbjDv7jefJmJOaic58">identity diffusion</a>," which is similar to method acting, or immersing oneself in a character's emotions and reality. </p><p>When it came time to tell Kendall's story, Strong realized he needed Jess more than the script initially detailed. </p><p>"There were times when Jess wasn't written into a scene and he would be like, 'Where's Jess? I think Jess would be here,'" Canfield told New York Magazine's <a href="https://www.thecut.com/2021/12/succession-juliana-jess-assistant-kendall-roy.html">The Cut</a>. </p><p>She added, "That's why I ended up in those scenes and why I kept coming back, because Jeremy is just so committed."</p><p>Strong goes into "airplane mode" when he steps onto set, the actor previously told <a href="https://www.rollingstone.com/tv/tv-features/jeremy-strong-succession-chicago-7-interview-1074981/">Rolling Stone</a>. He separates himself from his fellow cast members and, in effect, mirrors Kendall's own isolation from his billionaire family.</p><p>Canfield observes the actor in the same way Jess stands by her boss, anticipating his next move or need.</p><p>"He might not consciously involve me, but I try to involve myself in a way that's invasive or disruptive," the actress explained to The Cut. </p><p>She continued, "She's one step ahead of him, in his needs. So whatever process Jeremy's in, I just try to clock it. When he is going through the Kendall roller coaster, that makes it really exciting for me."</p><p>Like many assistants with demanding bosses, Jess fields a wide range of requests on "Succession."</p><p>One day she's the conduit between Kendall and his screaming father, who threatens to "grind his fucking bones to make my bread." The next she's an astonished witness to Kendall giving his children's babysitter permission to feed their giant rabbit, Megathump, a piece of bagel. Predictably, Megathump falls ill. </p><p>Still, Canfield, who <a href="https://www.wmagazine.com/culture/succession-assistants-juliana-canfield-interview-jess-jordan">auditioned to play Willa Ferreyra</a> before being cast as Jess, said that her character has a "soft spot" for Kendall. She believes Jess "sees some goodness in him."</p><div type="image" title="juliana canfield succession" height="900" width="1200" msid="88133481" hostid="261"></div><p>Armstrong has yet to confirm how many seasons "Succession" will air, and it's unclear where Kendall (and, in turn, Jess) stands with the Roy family going into the season three finale. Despite the uncertainty, Canfield remains open to exploring more of Jess' story in the future.</p><p>"If they want me to speak more, I'll definitely speak more. If they want me to just roll my eyes and mutter under my breath, in the middle distance, I will do so happily," she said, adding, "It's just so much fun."</p>

Meanwhile, Kendall, Shiv, and Roman are on the opposing side. Based on the <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p2v7IQVSimk">teaser trailer</a> for season four released in October 2022, it looks like their fourth sibling, Connor, will side with them over their father. </p><p>"We pick up a little bit of time after the dust has sort of settled. Not very much though," Macfadyen <a href="https://deadline.com/2022/09/emmys-succession-season-4-matthew-macfadyen-1235116408/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> backstage at the 2022 Emmys after winning the award for best supporting actor in a drama, per <a href="https://deadline.com/2022/09/emmys-succession-season-4-matthew-macfadyen-1235116408/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Deadline</a>.</p><p>"He thinks he is just looking out for himself," Macfadyen said of his character. "You could argue he has suffered from the hands of his brothers-in-law and his wife. I'm scared of giving away spoilers. It's nicely teed up."</p><p>The official season four logline reads: The sale of media conglomerate Waystar Royco to tech visionary Lukas Matsson (Alexander Skarsgård) moves ever closer. The prospect of this seismic sale provokes existential angst and familial division among the Roys as they anticipate what their lives will look like once the deal is complete. A power struggle ensues as the family weighs up a future where their cultural and political weight is severely curtailed.</p><h2>The Roys will travel to Norway</h2><div type="image" title="Alexander Skarsgård and Jeremy Strong on season four of &quot;Succession.&quot;" height="972" width="1920" msid="97361452" hostid="261"></div><p>This makes sense given the involvement of Skarsgard's character this season as the plan for GoJo to buy Waystar RoyCo looms.</p><p>Having season four take place overseas in Lukas' homeland will open the series up to more storytelling.</p><p>"We were really excited when Alexander came onboard — he's a wonderful actor," producer Scott Ferguson told <a href="https://variety.com/2022/tv/global/succession-season-4-norway-shoot-alexander-skarsgard-1235402260/">Variety</a> in October. "And from the beginning, [showrunner Jesse Armstrong's] idea was that the tech company was going to be led by someone from a Scandinavian country. In the writer's room, around February, Jesse had an idea for an episode they wanted to be in [Matsson's] part of the world."</p><p>"Norway is a glorious, natural setting," he added. "It immediately seemed like a perfect place for a family gathering in the series. We studied different countries, but we realized Norway just has this exceptional landscape — like nowhere else in the world."</p><h2>Greg will continue climbing the corporate ladder</h2><div type="image" title="Nicholas Braun and Matthew Macfadyen on season four of &quot;Succession.&quot;" height="1280" width="1706" msid="97361453" hostid="261"></div><p>In July, Braun told <a href="https://deadline.com/2022/07/succession-season-4-spoilers-nicholas-braun-brian-cox-1235063061/">Deadline</a> that his character "shifts into another gear," but it won't happen overnight since Greg "has to acquire the skills" that his more ruthless relatives possess. </p><p>"He and Tom have a new frequency," the actor said, adding that Greg is looking for some kind of release.</p><p>"He's like 'take me to the dark side,'" Braun said. "Playing Greg, he's a fear-based guy, always questioning whether he's doing right or wrong. It feels like the next chapter is 'Let's go!'"</p><p>In a separate interview with <a href="https://www.instagram.com/reel/Cnu16zhsrTv/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Hollywood Reporter</a> at the Sundance Film Festival in January, Braun described season four as an "absolute banger."</p><h2>Connor and Willa will be getting married</h2><div type="image" title="Justine Lupe and Alan Ruck on season four of &quot;Succession.&quot;" height="974" width="1883" msid="97361454" hostid="261"></div><p>Connor proposed to her during season three, episode eight.</p><p>Fans first suspected that their nuptials would be part of season four when a <a href="https://www.digitalspy.com/tv/ustv/a40778795/succession-season-4-wedding-willa-connor-set/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">photo taken from the set</a> showed a glittery, hot-pink banner reading "Willa Ferreyra &amp; Connor Roy" and accompanied by large black-and-white posters of the couple.</p><p>The season four trailer, released in January, featured a quick glimpse of Connor and Willa at the altar on their wedding day, raising their joined hands together and smiling.</p><h2>The 4th season of 'Succession' will be the last of the series </h2><div type="image" title="Jeremy Strong on season four of &quot;Succession.&quot;" height="1080" width="1440" msid="98218939" hostid="261"></div><p>"Succession" creator Jesse Armstrong broke the news in an interview with <a href="https://www.newyorker.com/culture/the-new-yorker-interview/the-end-of-succession-is-near">The New Yorker</a>, released on February 23, 2023. </p><p>Amstrong said that around season two of the series, "I started to know where I thought it should end." He also felt "deeply conflicted" about deciding to end the show with season four and said that it was "a difficult decision." </p><p>"I do think that this succession story that we were telling is complete," he said.
