From earning $85,000 a year in 2001, he was back in India at a job that only paid him ₹40,000 a month in 2005-06. Girish, on the other hand, only had the in-hand salary and a two-bedroom apartment on a loan. “People’s definition of success is different. I was looking at being happy. So I was going after what made me happy, not chasing money. I was enjoying my career, building products and having fun, my friends knew that but I think that was okay,” he adds. ‘Differentiating the well wishers and well informed’ Mathrubootham doesn’t take advice from everyone. “If you are Sachin Tendulkar, who do you take advice from — Gary Kirsten or the other man who is there in every Tendulkar match with the Indian flag painted on his body,” he says. This requires companies to address customer complaints across different channels, and so, having their information like account details, plans/services subscribed to, or payment information, in a quickly accessible manner becomes important. This is where the idea for Freshdesk, the company’s flagship product, was born. Then known as Freshdesk, the company rebranded itself as Freshworks in 2017. It now has tools for sales, marketing, information technology (IT) service management and human resources (HR). The 34-year-old Patel's impressive run at the Games ended with a fighting 7-11 5-11 6-11 loss to Zhou, a two-time gold medallist, in the women's singles summit clash which lasted 19 minutes. With this medal, Indian team opened its account at the Games. Deepa Malik, who is the current president of Paralympic Committee of India (PCI), was the first Indian woman to win a medal in the Paralympic Games when she had claimed a silver in shotput at Rio five years back. Patel, a wheelchair player, had also suffered a loss to Zhou, one of the most decorated para-paddlers of China, in her first group stage match earlier in the week. Up against an opponent, who has five Paralympic medals to her name including gold medals in singles at Beijing and London, Patel seemed to struggle as she couldn't execute her strategy and was left to do the catch up job. Zhou, a six-time World Championship medallist, didn't allow Patel, currently ranked 12th in her division, to find her angled returns and get into a rally. In the first game, Zhou broke off from 3-3 to move ahead. Patel tried to keep herself within touching distance with a superb serve at 5-7 and a forehand flick but the Chinese managed to earn the bragging right with a deep push at the baseline. The second game was a one-way traffic as Zhou jumped to a 7-1 lead early on. Patel narrowed it down to 4-7 but the Chinese soon grabbed a 2-0 lead. Pushed to the brink, Patel tried to script a recovery as she moved neck and neck with her opponent till 5-5 in the third game. But Zhou once again moved ahead and sealed the contest with a backhand shot. Patel, who was diagnosed with polio when she was 12 months old, had defeated world no 3 Miao Zhang of China 7-11 11-7 11-4 9-11 11-8 in the semifinal on Saturday. In the quarterfinal on Friday, Patel had defeated 2016 Rio Paralympics gold medallist and world number two Borislava Peric Rankovic of Serbia to assure herself a medal and script history. In para table tennis, classes 1-5 are for wheelchair athletes. Athletes in Class 4 category have fair sitting balance and fully functional arms and hands. Their impairment may be due to a lower spinal-cord lesion or cerebral palsy. Patel started playing the sport 13 years ago at the Blind People's Association at Vastrapur area of Ahmedabad where she was a student of ITI for people with disabilities. There, she saw visually impaired children playing table tennis and decided to take up the sport. She won her first medal in a competition while representing Rotary Club in Ahmedabad, where she is settled now after her marriage to Nikunj Patel, who has played junior cricket for Gujarat. In India, the millennials are considered profligate spenders and a generation that seeks instant gratification, not worrying or planning much about the future. As proponents of the sharing economy, they would rather use ride-share apps like Ola and Uber than buy a car, look after its repair, fuel, and pay EMIs. The same logic applied to owning a house too. They would prefer to rent a house than buy one, pay maintenance and EMIs. This behaviour by the millennials held true till early-2020 before the arrival of the COVID-19 pandemic. Another study by Standard Chartered Bank discloses that as a cohort the millennials are the most inclined to conscientiously strive for their far-sighted monetary objectives. The study specifically shows that 48% of the Indian millennials who are saving for a substantial buy like a car or a house whereas only 28% of the 45+ generation. This matured approach to financial matters also reflects in a recent study by 360 Realtors, a renowned name in <keyword id="6354553" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="real-estate" source="Orion">real estate</keyword> advisory services, wherein 3/4th of millennials expressed their desire to purchase a residential property in the next three years. A similar report by Anarock Property Consultants echoes the same intent mentioning that 55% of total buyers looking to buy their own homes are from the millennial age group. This number stood at 42% last year. 68% of the millennials polled by Anarock indicated that these home purchases were for their own end-use. Nobroker.com, a leading real-estate platform, says that millennials as a group constituted 63% of all its buyers amongst its entire user base, up from 49% from the pre-covid period. <ul><li>LinkedIn ranked companies that are chased by Indians to work with and stay for longer once onboard — and Flipkart tops the list. </li><li>The report assessed members on four parameters — interest in the company, engagement with the company’s employees, job demand and employee retention. </li><li>Internet companies including Amazon, Zomato, Ola and Alphabet have been dominating the top spots.</li></ul>Technology and Internet companies continue to dominate the top places to work in India, according to the latest annual Linkedin survey ranking Indian companies. While e-commerce giant Flipkart jumped to the first position from second last year, several other homegrown giants — Zomato, Swiggy and Freshworks — featured prominently among the top 25 companies preferred by Indian professionals.. Given that more millennials and even GenZ are now joining the workforce, Indian companies appear to be paying increasing attention to work culture in addition to offering better wages and exposure to the most sought-after skills. The report analysed over 610 million LinkedIn members, gauging job seekers’ interest in the company, employee engagement, job demands, and employee retention. Flipkart (Walmart) Walmart-owned e-commerce company Flipkart gave rise to many millionaires after its acquisition. The e-commerce giant, which has a headcount of over 13,000 employees in India, has been ranked first by job seekers. In fact, according to a <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/in-india-flipkart-tops-the-fairness-quotient-for-gig-economy-workers-report/articleshow/68593359.cms">recent report on gig economy platforms</a>, in terms of working conditions, Flipkart topped the charts. 2. Amazon Even as the new e-commerce norms come into effect in India, global retail giant Amazon, has still been on a hiring spree in India with nearly 1,950 job postings, as on April 2. Presently, the company has 50,000 employees in India. It competes neck and neck with rival Flipkart, and has recently made a foray into offline segment as well, setting up <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/amazon-plans-to-open-over-100-kiosks-across-malls-in-india-report/articleshow/68579967.cms">kiosks in malls</a>. 3. OYO Hotel chain Oyo has been diversifying beyond its flagship hospitality business. Its latest acquisition of Innov8 mark its entry into the food market and co-working space. The company is also in talks to acquire FreshMenu. As a long term goal, the hotel chain is aiming to overtake Marriott, five years down the line. It has 7,000 employees in India, according to LinkedIn. 4. One97 Communications (Paytm) One97 Communications, the parent company of Paytm, ranks fourth on the list. Uber With a more sustainable approach, Uber aims to put 1 million green cars on Indian roads by 2022.The ride-hailing firm Uber has a headcount of 1,700 employees. The company is reportedly planning to double the new hires in the products and engineering domain. 6. Swiggy Food aggregator Swiggy, a recent entrant to India’s unicorn club, has been hiring in the areas of sales, operations and business development. Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) India’s largest IT services company, TCS, has grown four-fold since 2007.
