The number decreased to 1.12 million from 1.20 million during the same time last year, according to the numbers put out by Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC). The ESIC scheme includes health and medical benefits for organisations that have an employee base of more than 20 and to employees with monthly pay upto ₹21,000. At the time of joining, the workers with basic monthly pay up to 15,000 are included under the ESIC scheme. According to ESIC scheme data, which provides health insurance and medical services, added nearly <a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/news/business/economy/job-creation-dips-6-9-in-jan-to-11-23-lakh-esic-payroll-data-3698601.html">20.8 million new subscribers</a> from September 2017 to January 2019. The payroll data, floated by the Central Statistics Office, is based on the working professionals joining social security schemes under Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) and Pension Fund Regulatory Development Authority (PFRDA). Nearly 7.64 million subscribers were reportedly added to the scheme. From last year onwards, the CSO has been rolling out statistics on jobs and employment covering the data from September 2017. The report is based on the number of subscribers under the three schemes — Employees' Provident Fund (EPF) Scheme, Employees' State Insurance (ESI) Scheme and National Pension Scheme (NPS). However, the creation of jobs in the formal sector projected to a 17-month high at 896,000 in January 2019, the report highlighted. With elections just around the corner, the numbers on employment and jobs has been affecting the country’s youth largely. Job creation in India slows down by 6.9% in January: ESIC payroll data

A new research, conducted for the month of May 2016, showed a 27% increase in hiring activity as compared to the same period last year. Other than this, a sustained growth in the <keyword id="3415704" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="IT-Software-and-ITES-sectors">IT-Software and ITES sectors</keyword> during the year has also led to an impressive hiring sentiment for these sectors, which now rule the scene of new job creation. 
 
Telecom and Real Estate, however, were reported to have a negative sentiment in YoY index for May' 16 as compared to May'15. 
 
The Naukri Job Speak Index survey says that the period saw an increased demand for professionals from IT-Software and ITES sectors, as the index moved upwards for most part of the year, before ending with an impressive 33% and 49% growth, respectively. 
 
Sales and Business Development and Accounts also saw a similar trend, as these sectors saw a rise in the demand in their jobs by 19% and 22%, respectively. 
 
Two more areas seeing a negative sentiment were Project Management and IT-Hardware and Telecom professionals, as these areas they saw their jobs going up and down throughout the year, before ending with a negative sentiment of -10% and -3%, respectively. 
 
Talking of the metros, Delhi/NCR reported an impressive 58% YoY growth, while Mumbai and Bengaluru continued to grow at 41% and 35%, respectively. 
 
"As predicted earlier, job market continues to head north with an impressive 27% YOY growth in May. It's good to see the index showing positive momentum across all major metros. Though IT/ITES/BPO sectors have been leading the growth for the past few quarters, sectors like pharma/biotech and insurance seem to show growth over the past few months. The market is looking good for jobseekers in the coming months," said V Suresh, chief sales officer, Naukri.com. 
 
Here is the industry-wise analysis of core sectors: 
 
♦ BFSI and Automobiles: Index moved up for most parts of the year and despite a few months of negative sentiment, the period ending May'16 reported a respective growth of 15% and 11%. 
 
♦ Oil &amp; Gas: Oil &amp; Gas fared well in the May'16 index with a 5% growth; however it took the sector a long time to recover from continuous negative sentiments. 
 
♦ Real Estate saw a negative sentiment and recorded a decline of -6% 
 
♦ Pharma &amp; Biotech professionals reported a 25% Y-o-Y growth 
 
♦ Marketing and Banking professionals had their jobs go up by 50% and 17%, respectively 
 
♦ HR and Top Management demand saw a Y-o-Y increase of 14% and 16%, respectively 
 
♦ Chennai and Hyderabad posted a rise of 19% and 27%, respectively, while Pune and Kolkata reported an increase of 24% and 31%, respectively

The Indian government wants to fulfil its promise to provide employment to one crore people before its term ends and in a bid to achieve its target, it is going after startups. Now, companies that want to avail benefits from the <keyword id="3003094" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Startup-India">Startup India</keyword>, Standup India programme will have to declare how many jobs they would create. "We will soon notify the new definition for startups, which goes beyond innovation," a senior government official told ET. Apart from innovation, which is the main criteria for startups to qualify, <keyword id="81847" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Job-creation">job creation</keyword> is also on agenda. To qualify as a startup under the new definition, an entity would have to declare its job creation target and meet certain financial standards besides having a certain level of innovation in its product or service. "We will do our own scrutiny at the time of examination of applications for giving the tax benefits," the official told ET. It is noteworthy, at the time of Startup India initiative’s launch, job creation was not a mandatory requirement. So far, DIPP has recognised 798 applications as startups but not given them the tax benefit. Companies incorporated after March 31, 2016, could avail of a three-year tax holiday in the first seven years of their existence under the Startup India initiative. Startups are expected to create 250,000 jobs in India by 2020, up from 80,000 now, according to a <keyword id="6372077" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Nasscom">Nasscom</keyword> report.

New Delhi, Jan 13 () Corporate leaders on Monday sought initiatives to support job creation besides enhanced spending on infrastructure and policies for agricultural sector as part of their Budget wishlist.
While participating in a debate during a book launch here, TVS Group Chairman Venu Srinivasan sought more focus on job creation in the Budget next month.
Similarly, Chairman and Senior Managing Director of DCM Shriram Ajay S Shriram urged the government to focus on agriculture sector, while Hero Enterprise Chairman Sunil Kant Munjal stressed on enhancing spending on infrastructure.
The three business leaders were part of a discussion at the launch of the book 'The Making of HERO' written by Sunil Kant Munjal. The book was unveiled by former prime minister Manmohan Singh.
"One of the most important issues is job creation...the most fundamental drive has to be growth with jobs," Srinivasan said.
Shriram urged the government to focus on agriculture sector.
"I hope in this budget there should be a focus towards taking care of agriculture sector...which is suffering a lot somehow the policies are not moving in terms of governance in terms of coordinating with the states. I think a GST kind of a body is required to get all agri ministers involved to take joint decisions for implementation...," Shriram said.
Munjal said he would like the government to spend more on the infrastructure sector.
"I would like to see slippage in fisc (fiscal deficit) and that slippage going towards seriously benefitting infrastructure sector," he noted.

AI can create 2.7 million tech jobs by 2028 in India, study says

Recruiters across the country have given thumbs up to the <keyword id="2609226" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Union-Budget-2015">Union Budget 2015</keyword>. The industry is hoping that the reforms announced in the budget 2015 will create new jobs in the country especially in sectors such as infrastructure and manufacturing besides the traditional IT sector. 
	 
	“As far as job creation and hiring scenario is concerned, 2015 will be a much better year in comparison to 2014 given the increased stability in the political and economic environment of the country. The phenomenon of job creation will be led by the IT sector followed by the services industry and even the manufacturing sector is showing healthy signs,” said Hitesh Oberoi, managing director and CEO Info Edge (India) Ltd. 
	 
	According to a report by job portal naukri.com, 62% recruiters and 89% consultants expect creation of new jobs in the first half of 2015 itself. While 56% of recruiters expect the new job creation to be in the IT sector while 28% of the recruiters expect more jobs to come up in BFSI space. 
	 Sharing a similar sentiment, Joseph Devasia, managing director of recruitment firm Antal International Network, India, noted that the budget has laid higher emphasis on supporting IT start-ups this year. “Hence we see this to have a positive impact on the IT/BPO sector and this sector is likely to create new jobs. The setting up of AIIMS, IITs and IT hubs across several states will help address the huge demand for IT jobs in India. Similarly, <keyword id="6354869" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="make-in-India">Make in India</keyword> is seen as a revolution that will boost the manufacturing, engineering as well as auto sector in India,” he suggested. 
	 
	Devasia also expected the eCommerce to spearhead creation of new jobs. “Due to greater Internet access on smartphones consumer spending will boost new jobs in the B2C sector,” he added. Similarly, other sectors such as healthcare, defence and banking are also expected to benefit the most. 
	 
	Interestingly, manufacturing sector that has been low on hiring activity is expected to witness some action. “The budget that was announced was certainly a positive and progressive one with most of the proposals having a ‘Make in India’ flavour. These proposals will definitely make India a manufacturing hub creating millions of employment opportunities in the coming years,” he stated. 
	 
	In terms of the level, hiring at middle and senior levels will get a major boost. “Most jobs are expected to be created for people with 4-8 years of work experience followed by people with 1-3 years of work experience,” stated Oberoi. 
	 
	On the skill development front, Devasia highlighted that the Centre has focus on skill development in this budget. “Moreover, increased emphasis on skill development and education will help prepare a number of youth for jobs, which will help curb the talent crunch issue that the country is currently facing,” he averred. 
	 It should be noted that the government has also offered sops to <keyword id="18173" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="SME">SME</keyword> businesses, which is expected to boost the <keyword id="62763" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Job-market">job market</keyword>. Budget allocation to start ups will encourage entrepreneurs in Tier 2 and 3 cities and create new jobs there.

Indian President <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Pranab+Mukherjee&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Pranab Mukherjee</a> said lack of efforts in job creation can cause disaster in the nation. While addressing a conference of <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=heads+of+educational+institutes&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">heads of educational institutes</a>, Mukherjee said job creation figures were the lowest in the last seven years and it is now the top most priority. “The job creation figures of 1.35 lakh in 2015, which is the lowest in seven years, are not encouraging,” he said. 
 
Mukherjee emphasized on harmonious and peaceful environment for students to go for higher studies and asked the concerned departments to facilitate academic ladder. He also asked the institutions to control the student unrest in the institutions. 
 
"There have been incidences of student unrest in our institutions in recent past. Our campuses must have a harmonious and peaceful environment for students to pursue higher studies and research. Vice-chancellors and directors must deal with any unpleasant situation with sagacity,” he said. 
 
Mukherjee said country's institutions must become magnets for talent by shifting from "brain drain" to "brain rain". 
 "In India, we have enough talent. With the largest population of the young, we are poised to leverage a low dependency ratio. But that depends on the productivity of the population in the working age bracket. If there are enough <keyword id="11018" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Jobs">jobs</keyword> in the country, there will be content, refinement and perfection. An opposite scenario can spell disaster,” the president said. 
 
"The restlessness and frustration of youth manifests in unrest and upheaval. Let us not allow such a situation to appear on our horizon. We must turn our evolving demographic configuration into strength. For that, adequate job creation is a priority. The job creation figures of 1.35 lakh in 2015, which is the lowest in seven years, are not encouraging,” he added. 
 
He also said that the country needs to look at the paradigm shift as machines are now replacing men in foreign countries and many talented professionals are looking forward to coming back to India. 
 
"From 'brain drain', we must shift to abundance of 'brain rain', as many successful Indian professionals working abroad are keen to come back, excited by the opportunities unfolding in a changing India. With adequate thrust on internationalisation of our institutions, we can develop 'brain networks'," Mukherjee said, addressing the second visitor's conference at <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Rashtrapati+Bhavan&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Rashtrapati Bhavan</a>.

Job creation in 2015 was at 1.35 lakh, lowest in 7 years: Pranab Mukherjee

New Delhi, Dec 9 () India is expected to witness a marginal 7 per cent rise in job creation in the October-March period of this financial year, as subdued economic conditions have dampened employment outlook, a report said on Monday.
 According to TeamLease's bi-annual Employment Outlook Report for HY2 2019, economic reforms lifted the spirits for seven of the 19 sectors surveyed, while nine sectors reported a decrease in their outlook for October-March period of this fiscal.
 India will witness a 7.12 per cent increase in job creation in the current half year (October-March, 2019-20), it said.
 Positive hiring outlook was reported in sectors like healthcare &amp; pharmaceuticals, information technology, e-commerce and tech start-ups, educational services, KPO, power and energy, and logistics.
 The sectors that are expected to witness decrease in hiring include manufacturing, engineering and infrastructure, construction and real estate, financial services, retail, BPO/ITeS, telecommunications, travel and hospitality, FMCG and agriculture and agrochemicals.
 "Though the lowering of the GDP growth projection seems to have dampened the net employment outlook in some of the sectors, the job creation across sectors is on a growth trajectory," TeamLease Services co-founder &amp; Executive Vice President Rituparna Chakraborty said. 
 She further noted that "8 out of the 19 sectors are expected to witness a double digit rise in job creation. Logistics and educational services alone will add 14.36 per cent more jobs during the period October-March, 2019-20 indicating the dip in the net employment outlook to be more of a passing phase."
 While Mumbai, Hyderabad, Pune, Chennai, Bengaluru, Delhi, Gurgaon, Kolkata indicated positive sentiment, Indore, Coimbatore, Ahmedabad, Kochi and Nagpur exhibited varying levels of negative sentiment for October-March 2019-20 period compared to April-September 2019-20.
 As per the report, global markets witnessed a drop in net employment outlook for the October-March period. 
 Europe saw the most significant drop in net employment outlook, followed by Africa and the Americas.
 The Middle East (no change) and APAC (up 1 per cent) weathered global headwinds and stayed strong, the report said.
 TeamLease Employment Outlook analyses functional and environmental aspects across 19 sectors and 14 geographies to provide an in-depth insight into the hiring sentiments.

Of this, manufacturing is the largest employer with the highest share at 49% followed by education at 24%. Construction accounts for the least at 1.79% and transport has a 2.8% share.

According to the report by staffing company <keyword id="6381892" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="teamlease-services" source="Orion">TeamLease Services</keyword>, over 80 per cent of respondents believe that IT and banking and <keyword id="6354241" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="financial-services" source="Orion">Financial Services</keyword> will benefit from the 5G technology in terms of job creation and upskilling. The report titled "India's 5G rollout: Revolutionising the People Supply Chain" is based on responses of over 247 companies on the impact of 5G on the ecosystem and employment generation. "With substantial investments, such as the PLI scheme allocating Rs 12,000 crore to the telecom sector, with approximately 25 per cent dedicated to creating new jobs, we are poised for a positive outlook on job creation and upskilling," TeamLease Services CEO - Staffing, Kartik <keyword id="6386349" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="narayan" source="Orion">Narayan</keyword> said. This will boost confidence to harness the potential of 5G, creating unprecedented job opportunities, driving innovation and shaping a transformative future, he added. The adoption of 5G will have significant impact on industries such as <keyword id="6356925" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="bfsi" source="Orion">BFSI</keyword> (60 per cent), education (48 per cent), gaming (48 per cent) and retail and e-commerce (46 per cent), the report said. On a year-on-year basis, 46 per cent of participants anticipate job creation ranging from 61 per cent to 80 per cent within the first year of 5G implementation. "Telecommunications companies embracing 5G solutions present a promising growth opportunity. As telcos leverage the potential of 5G in network upgradation, migration, IoT/IIoT, mobility, network infrastructure, and network security, we anticipate increased hiring for specialised roles," Narayan said. This advancement creates new opportunities and drives demand for roles such as technical content writers, networking engineers, AI/ML professionals, UX designers, cloud computing engineers, cybersecurity specialists, data science and analytical experts and more, he added. The report, however, noted that the telecom industry is facing a considerable demand-supply gap of 28 per cent, which emphasises the urgent need for comprehensive upskilling and reskilling initiatives. Encouragingly, 88 per cent of employees expressed a preference for upskilling, indicating a strong desire to enhance their existing skill sets, the report said. Additionally, 11.2 per cent of employees showed a preference for reskilling, presenting significant opportunities in the job market for fresh talent, it added. The report also highlighted the impact of 5G on job creation over the next few years, with 41 per cent of respondents expecting an impact of more than 80 per cent on job creation over the next three years of 5G rollout. According to Narayan the impending 5G rollout is expected to lead to an 80 per cent increase in tech-related jobs. The biggest recruiters will be educational services and e-commerce. As the Indian government incorporates reforms in export policy and corporate tax to put an end to the rising unemployment rate in the country, healthcare &amp; pharmaceuticals, IT and ecommerce and, tech startups intend to hire in the next six months, particularly from tier-II cities. <a href="https://www.businesstoday.in/top-story/unemployment-rate-india-cmie/story/391369.html">According to</a> the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE), the unemployment rate in India fell to 7.48% in November. “8 out of the 19 sectors are expected to witness a double digit rise in job creation. <ul><li>Jobs in India’s IT sector will grow in 2020, in terms of both hiring and compensation. </li><li>The sector might witness almost 10% job growth— for freshers and juniors. </li><li>It had already created over 40,000 job opportunities in the first half of FY20. </li><li>Mumbai, Bangalore, Pune and Delhi are expected to create nearly 23,000 <keyword id="57650" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="IT-jobs">IT jobs</keyword> in the same period.</li></ul>The coming new year could bring much-needed good news for aspiring young engineers. In 2020, India’s IT sector jobs might grow by 10% — for freshers and juniors. The sector created over 40,000 job opportunities in the first half of FY20, according to a report by staffing firm <keyword id="133742" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="TeamLease">Teamlease</keyword> Services. “This year, there has been sustained growth in the sector which now stands at ₹13 trillion. The government has backed the industry strongly introducing many reforms like the national level programme to enable mainstream adoption of AI and the ease of doing business for IT led start-ups. These have been the key growth drivers for job creation,” said Supaul Chanda, Business Head, TeamLease Digital. As many as 23,000 IT jobs will be created in Mumbai, Bangalore, Pune and Delhi. “While metro cities will continue to captivate maximum professionals, even geographies like Kolkata, Chandigarh and Indore will be the hot spots for IT jobs,” Chanda added. These IT jobs will traverse across sectors. Manufacturing and services sectors — including agriculture, telecom, real estate and KPOs — will increase hiring for tech roles. The sector had employed over 4.1 million people during the second half of FY19, the report said.
