Apple has also warned supply constraints will affect sales of the iPhone and iPad. The telco added that along with Google it has started testing the JioPhone Next with select users for “further refinement” and it should be available more widely just in time for the Diwali festive season. The JioPhone Next has been jointly developed by Reliance Jio and Google. It’s a low-cost 4G smartphone running a customised version of Android and loaded with Google features for Android users. It will come with optimisations for low-light photography with an HDR mode, and India-specific Snapchat lenses integrated into the phone’s camera. Google features such as Read Aloud and Translate Now will also be integrated in the OS. These features will work with any text on the phone screen in addition to web pages, apps, messages and photos as well. JioPhone Next users will also be able to use Google Assistant for Jio-related queries like playing music on JioSaavn or checking your balance on My Jio. JioPhone Next launch delayed until Diwali due to chip shortage

We already know that the JioPhone Next will come with optimisations for low-light photography and it will also have an HDR mode. It will be powered by the Qualcomm 215 Mobile Platform. On the software front, the JioPhone Next will run Android 11 (Go Edition) out-of-the-box. More features on the JioPhone Next include dual SIM support, dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.2. The smartphone will also come with Android Go apps pre-installed such as Camera Go. RIL stock gains in a falling market, unaffected by Mukesh Ambani’s Jio exit

Conglomerate <keyword id="10926" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="reliance" source="Orion">Reliance</keyword> Industries Ltd (RIL) on Friday reported a rise of 46 per cent growth in its year-on-year consolidated net profit for the quarter ended September 30, 2021. The net profit, on a YoY basis, rose to ₹15,479 crore. In a regulatory filing, the company reported that its consolidated gross revenue for the quarter rose to ₹191,532 crore, higher by 49.2 per cent. Besides, the consolidated EBITDA for the quarter rose by 30 per cent to ₹3 0,283 crore. On a standalone basis, net profit for the quarter was higher by 44.1 per cent year-on-year to ₹9,228 crore. Furthermore, the gross revenue on a standalone basis for the quarter rose by 68.8 per cent to ₹108,750 crore. "As the pandemic retreats, I am pleased that Reliance has posted a strong performance in 2Q FY22. This demonstrates the inherent strengths of our businesses and the robust recovery of the Indian and global economies," Reliance Industries Ltd Chairman and Managing Director Mukesh D. Ambani said. "All our businesses reflect growth over pre-Covid levels. Our operational and financial performance reflects sharp recovery in the retail segment and sustained growth in Oil-to-Chemicals (O2C) and Digital Services business." Ambani said: "Our O2C business benefited from sharp recovery in demand across products and higher transportation fuel margins." "Reliance Retail continues to grow on the back of rapid expansion of both physical stores and digital offerings resulting in healthy growth in revenues and margin expansion. Reliance Industries' net profit crosses ₹15,000 crore in September quarter

Google said it wants to work with Jio and other leaders in the local ecosystem to ensure that smartphones together with the apps and services in the Play Store - are within reach for many more Indians across the country. Jio and Google to launch made-in India smartphones soon

New Delhi, Jun 24 () Reliance Jio would play a key role in the development of the 5G ecosystem in India based on the market dynamics, Reliance Industries said in its latest annual report. On the issue of floor price for mobile services, the company noted that market dynamics have improved in the recent past as reflected by December tariff hikes by operators. The government has also expressed its intentions of conducting the next round of spectrum auctions during the fiscal year 2020-21, it said. "Jio with its 5G-ready network and extensive fiber assets, would play a key role in the development of the 5G ecosystem in India, based on market dynamics," the annual report stated. In his letter to shareholders, Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani said that there are still millions of 2G phone users, who cannot use internet, highlighting urgent need for India to transition fully from 2G to the 4G era and beyond, and underlining the opportunity Jio has in such transformation. "Over the past two years, JioPhone has successfully transitioned approximately 100 million erstwhile feature phone (2G) users to the 4G network," he said. Ambani noted that Jio's success in building technology specifically for India and its ability to proliferate across the country has attracted global technology leaders – Facebook and Microsoft - to forge partnerships with it. Reliance Jio continues to add subscribers at a rate unprecedented in the telecom world with 387.5 million mobile data subscribers (as of March 31, 2020), Ambani said. Describing Jio as a key catalyst in creating the broadband data market in India, he said it is now the number one mobile telecom operator in the country by both adjusted gross revenue (AGR) and subscribers. Reliance Jio is rolling out its state-of-the-art wireline services across homes and enterprises, he said adding all this will help place a strong foundation for offering platform-based digital services. According to the report, Jio connected about one million homes with JioFiber services until March 2020. Ambani further said that rollout of the digital commerce initiative will open up further growth opportunities for the organised retail business, leveraging the strength of consumer and digital platforms. "Reliance Retail and WhatsApp have entered into a commercial partnership agreement to further accelerate Reliance Retail's Digital Commerce business on the JioMart platform using WhatsApp and to support small businesses on WhatsApp," he said. Further, Jio said that market dynamics have improved in the recent past, as reflected by tariff hikes in December 2019, where all the operators revised their tariff plans upwards by up to 40 per cent. "During the year, Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has also initiated consultation process on feasibility of establishing a floor price for mobility services in the country," it said, adding that Jio would continue to actively engage with the regulator and industry stakeholders to drive growth for all. On the issue of call connect charges, where interconnect usage charge (IUC) would be reduced to zero with effect from January 1, 2021, Jio said it accordingly introduced a charge of 6 paise/minute on all off-net outgoing voice minutes to pass through the impact of change in regulatory stance on IUC in October 2019. "This has led to a significant improvement in voice traffic mix as misusers of free voice services have left the network and Jio is now a net receiver of IUC. Jio continues to believe that transition to the BAK (Bill and Keep) regime will hasten the adoption of more efficient technologies like VoLTE, which have negligible cost for carrying and servicing essential voice services," RIL said. Fourth, 5G can make the same powerful productivity tools available to small-scale industrial and commercial enterprises that large capital-intensive businesses use. This will drive the modernisation and profitability of all sectors of India’s economy. Fifth, By bringing AI into every domain, 5G can power India’s emergence as the world’s intelligence capital. This will help India become a major exporter of high-value digital solutions and services. According to Mukesh Ambani, achieving these five goals will trigger a huge explosion of entrepreneurship in our country. Also, this will attract even larger investments and create millions of new jobs for our young people. At the IMC's venue in Pragati Madan, Akash Ambani showcased 5G capabilities to PM Narendra Modi at Reliance Jio's stalls, where he witnessed the 'True 5G' devices displayed and experienced the use case through Jio Glass (AR/ VR).
