The JioBook marks the company’s entry into the educational laptops segment. The JioBook is a 4G-enabled laptop that also supports dual-band Wi-Fi. It is aimed at students looking for an affordable laptop for their educational needs. “The all-new JioBook is our latest offering catering to learners of all ages with its advanced features and seamless connectivity options. The JioBook is powered by an octa-core MediaTek MT 8788 processor coupled with 4GB of DDR4 RAM and 64GB of eMMC storage. It supports microSD expansion up to 256GB. It comes with a 2MP camera for video calling. In terms of connectivity, the JioBook offers 4G LTE, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, 2 x USB 2.0 ports, a mini-HDMI port and a 3.5mm audio jack. It is equipped with a 4,000mAh battery, which the company claims can offer up to 8 hours of battery life. The company has offered a 1-year warranty on the laptop and a 6-month warranty for the charger. New Delhi, <keyword id="58448" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="reliance-retail" source="Orion">Reliance Retail</keyword> has unveiled its all new <keyword id="10873635" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="jiobook" source="Orion">JioBook</keyword>, a lightweight and pocket-friendly 4G-LTE powered laptop designed to cater to all age groups. JioBook touted as 'India's First Learning Book' will be available at Rs 16,499 starting August 5, 2023, and customers can purchase JioBook from <keyword id="10926" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="reliance" source="Orion">Reliance</keyword> Digital's online and offline stores, as well as through Amazon.in. The JioBook packs a punch with stylish design featuring matte finish, and ultra slim built, and is light weight at 990 grams. It features 4G-LTE and dual-band WiFi capabilities, powerful octa-core chipset for smooth multitasking, 11.6-inch (29.46CM) anti-glare HD display, Infinity keyboard and large multi-gesture trackpad. With its advanced JioOS operating system, design and always-connected features, JioBook promises to redefine the learning experience for every individual. Earlier this month, Jio had launched internet-enabled <keyword id="17888486" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="jio-bharat" source="Orion">Jio Bharat</keyword> phones at Rs 999, packing-in cheaper monthly plan of Rs 123 for unlimited voice calls and 14 GB data. At Rs 999, Jio Bharat was positioned as "the lowest entry price for an internet-enabled phone". The new offering aimed to accelerate the '2G Mukt Bharat' vision, as India still has 250 million mobile subscribers in the 2G era with feature phones. Beta trial for first 1 million Jio Bharat phones started from July 7, 2023. Brokerages tracking the sector had said that the launch of internet-enabled Jio Bharat phones at an "attractive pricing" will enable Jio to gain market share at the lower end segment and signals a reduced probability of tariff hike in the near term.

The Mukesh Ambani-led telco is now gearing up to enter the laptop segment in the country with an affordable offering. Earlier this year, a XDA <a href="https://www.xda-developers.com/jiobook-by-reliance-jio-jioos-rumor/">report</a> had revealed that Reliance Jio is working on a laptop, dubbed as JioBook. According to a MySmartPrice <a href="https://www.mysmartprice.com/gear/reliance-jiobook-geekbench-specifications-revealed/">report</a>, the JioBook has now been spotted on Geekbench, revealing some of its specifications ahead of the launch. In September, three JioBook models, NB1118QMW, NB1148QMW, and NB1112MM were spotted on the BIS certification site. Now, the NB1112MM variant has been spotted on Geekbench. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="JioBook features" comment="subhead" text="JioBook features">JioBook features</cmsannotation> The JioBook with the model number NB1112MM will reportedly run on the MediaTek MT8788 chipset coupled with 2GB RAM. The MT788 chipset is an octa-core chipset with four performance cores and four power-efficiency cores. Apart from this, the company is also expected to launch a model with the Snapdragon 665 chipset. The company is expected to launch the laptops in 2GB RAM + 32GB storage and 4GB RAM + 64GB storage variants. The JioBook is expected to support 4G LTE connectivity and come pre-loaded with Jio’s suite of apps. While there is no information about the JioBook’s pricing, we expect it to be priced in the affordable segment considering its specifications. It will likely be aimed at students and first-time laptop users. We should know more about the JioBook in the coming days. You can just buy the laptop from Jio, which will likely feature an entry-level chipset. All the computing and storage will occur on the JioCloud and you will need an active internet connection to access this data, unlike traditional laptops where you can access files on your device without the need of an internet connection. “The cost of a laptop depends on its hardware like memory, processing power, chipset etc. The greater capacity of these hardware increases costs as well as battery power. What we are doing is, we are stripping all this and the whole processing of the laptop will happen at the back end in the Jio cloud,” an official familiar with the matter told ET. In addition to the cost of the laptop, the user will reportedly also be charged a monthly subscription fee to use this service.
