JioStar announces plans starting at ₹15 – here’s everything you need to know

New Delhi, <keyword id="6354776" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Telecom">Telecom</keyword> major <keyword id="6354504" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="reliance-jio">Reliance Jio</keyword> is the fifth strongest brand in the <keyword id="6354507" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="World">world</keyword>, shows the '<keyword id="130196" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Brand-Finance">Brand Finance</keyword> Global 500 2021' report. The annual report on the most valuable and strongest brands in the world noted that despite being the latest entrant in the <keyword id="3658" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="India">India</keyword>'s telecom scenario, <keyword id="2003276" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Jio">Jio</keyword> has quickly become the largest mobile network operator in India and the third largest mobile network operator in the world, with almost 400 million subscribers. "Entering the ranking for the first time this year and claiming the title of the world's 5th strongest brand, is Indian telecoms giant, Jio, with a BSI score of 91.7 out of 100 and the elite AAA+ brand strength rating," it said. It added that known for its incredibly affordable plans, Jio took India by storm through offering 4G to millions of users for free, simultaneously transforming how Indians consume the internet. The dominance of the brand across the nation is evident from the results from Brand Finance's original market research, said the report. "Jio scores highest in all metrics -- consideration conversion, reputation, recommendation, word of mouth, innovation, customer service and value for money -- compared to its telecom competitors in India," it said. The brand has no major weaknesses within the sector, and unlike <keyword id="10665491" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="other-telecoms-brands">other telecoms brands</keyword> globally, Jio has shown that it has broken the mould, and enjoys genuine affection from consumers, the Brand Finance report added. Further, it said Jio is the fastest-growing brand in the ranking in the telecoms sector in terms of brand value, bucking the negative trend across the industry, with a 50 per cent increase to $4.8 billion. The world's most valuable telecoms brand, Verizon (up 8 per cent to $68.9 billion), has also recorded a healthy brand value growth, re-entering the top 10 for brand value following its absence in 2020. The strongest brand adjudged by the Brand Finance survey is WeChat with a Brand Strength Index (BSI) score of 95.4 out of 100. The Chinese mobile app is one of merely 11 brands in the ranking to have been awarded the elite AAA+ brand strength rating, it said. Auto giant Ferrari took second spot, followed by bank in Russian brand, Sber and beverage major Coca-Cola as the third and fourth strongest brands in the world. Reliance Jio is now twice as valued as Airtel that is down 25% from its peak in May

<ul><li>Supreme Court decision to make Airtel and Vodafone pay up spectrum dues gave a boost to RIL stock. </li><li>In the last one week, <a href="https://www.bloombergquint.com/business/ambani-said-in-talks-to-sell-news-assets-to-india-s-times-group">Bloomberg reported</a> that RIL has been trying to sell its media business to two different entities. </li><li>Ambani also said that he plans to turn the company<a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/airtel-tata-sky-and-pvr-shares-fall-after-mukesh-ambanis-vision-for-ril/articleshow/70655108.cms"> virtually net-debt free</a>. </li><li>This year, Reliance Retail also crossed ₹2,000 crore in pre-tax profits during the first quarter. </li></ul>It was a much anticipated event but the market value of Reliance Industries hit crossed ₹10 lakh crore in today’s trade. In the morning session it ₹10,00,382.68 crore even as the stock went up only by a marginal 0.5% today. But the company stock withstood erratic sessions of highs and lows and various global cues, to grow steadily for the last four months. The flurry of good news started after Ambani unveiled his next generation plans at his<a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/highlights-of-mukesh-ambani-speech-at-reliance-industries-agm/articleshow/70638299.cms"> annual general meeting</a>. Many stockholders believed that Jio would end up with a virtual monopoly over the market as the debt of Airtel and Vodafone is all set to rise The sentiment effect too boosted the stock value by a great margin for a few weeks. Sale of Reliance’s media business In the last one week, wire agency<a href="https://www.bloombergquint.com/business/ambani-said-in-talks-to-sell-news-assets-to-india-s-times-group"> Bloomberg reported</a> twice that RIL has been trying to sell its media business to two different entities—Japanese major Sony and the Times Group. The media business of Network18 that RIL acquired in 2014 is a loss-making entity. The group owns the television channels of Eenadu TV along with those of Network18 like CNBCTV18 and CNN-IBN, Colours and more. It also owns multiple websites like moneycontrol and Firstpost. The news of a possible sale and cash flowing also boosted the stock price. At the AGM in August, Ambani also said that he has plans to carve out retail and Jio into separate entities to unlock value. Plan to go debt free, bonuses and IPOs Apart from announcing various futuristic plans, Ambani also said that he plans to turn the company<a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/airtel-tata-sky-and-pvr-shares-fall-after-mukesh-ambanis-vision-for-ril/articleshow/70655108.cms"> virtually net-debt free</a>. For a company which is saddled with a debt of around ₹1.5 lakh crore, it is good news for investors. Reliance Retail starts churning profits This year, Reliance Retail also crossed ₹2,000 crore in pre-tax profits during the first quarter. “In our core retail, we crossed the best margin ever at 8.9%. But this is not the only good news that the business brought. Ambani unveiled his plans to use the synergies of digital business of Jio with retail and take on Flipkart and Amazon in the online space.
