Here are Airtel and Jio's Disney+ Hotstar Mobile plans

New Delhi, Jio on Monday launched internet-enabled Jio Bharat phones at Rs 999, packing-in cheaper monthly plan of Rs 123 for unlimited voice calls and 14 GB data. The new offering aims to accelerate the '2G Mukt Bharat' vision, as India still has 250 million mobile subscribers trapped in the 2G era with feature phones. While India is leading the 5G revolution on one side with the transformational Jio True 5G network, there is a section of society that is unable to reap the benefits of digital technology in entirety. "Jio Bharat is being launched with the objective of empowering every Indian with the power of digital services, especially those who cannot afford a smartphone. This will truly mark the beginning of digital freedom for the 250 million feature phone users in India and will bridge the digital divide," Jio said in a statement. Beta trial for first 1 million Jio Bharat phones starts from July 7, 2023. Besides Reliance Retail, other phone brands (starting with Karbonn) will adopt the 'Jio Bharat platform' to build 'Jio Bharat phones'. Jio Bharat is priced at Rs 999, "the lowest entry price for an internet-enabled phone", it said. It is offering 30 per cent cheaper monthly plan and 7 times more data compared to feature phone offerings of other operators. "Rs 123 per month for unlimited voice calls and 14 GB data, compared to other operators' Rs 179 plan for voice calls and 2GB data," the statement added. Lately, the digital disempowerment and disparity for feature phone users has become worse, with other telecom operators increasing the minimum price to stay connected, the statement said, adding even basic voice services for a 30-day period, which used to cost Rs 99 previously, now costs Rs 199. Akash Ambani, Chairman, Reliance Jio, said there are still 250 million mobile phone users in India who remain "trapped" in the 2G era, unable to tap into basic features of the internet at a time when the world stands at the cusp of a 5G revolution. "Six years ago, when Jio was launched, we made it clear that Jio will leave no stone unturned to democratise internet and pass the benefits of technology to every Indian," he said. Technology will no longer remain a privilege for a select few, he said, highlighting that the new Jio Bharat phone is another step to ensure every single person reaps the benefits of digital society. "It is at the centre of innovation, and it continues to demonstrate our focus on bringing disproportionate and true value for different segments of users with meaningful, real-life use cases," he said.

Jio launches internet-enabled Jio Bharat phone at Rs 999

New Delhi, May 8 () Reliance Jio has come up with new top-up plans to support extra data usage at up to 75 per cent lower rates and also made annual recharge plans 33 per cent cheaper compared to rivals by enhancing data usage limit at 4G speed to 2 GB per day.The company has brought three new "work-from-home" top-up plans that are available at the denominations of Rs 151 (30 GB), Rs 201 (40 GB) and Rs 251 (50 GB), which supplement usage once the daily limit is exhausted, as per the company's website.With these plans, average data cost comes to about Rs 5 per GB. Under the existing top-ups, which will continue, data on Jio network costs in the range of Rs 8.5 to Rs 21 per GB. Reliance Jio has revised the price for its annual plan to Rs 2,399 and enhance the daily data limit in the new plan to 2 GB. So, despite increase in value of the 365 days validity, the annual plan is 33 per cent cheaper than rivals due to extra data offered by it. Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea offer similar annual plans for Rs 2,398 and Rs 2,399 respectively, with daily data limit of 1.5 GB at 4G speed. The new plans from Jio comes at a time when companies have been pushing the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India and government to legally raise data prices by up to 5-10 times to address financial stress that some companies are facing. Mobile subscribers get access to 4G data at a price as low as Rs 3.5 per GB but if the floor price is fixed as demanded by telecom operators, the mobile internet prices will rise 5-10 times from the current level.Vodafone Idea has proposed that the minimum price of data should be fixed at Rs 35 per GB and Bharti Airtel has recommended a minimum price of Rs 30 per GB for low data users. New Delhi, With the start of the World Cup cricket tournament, Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel have rolled out plans to woo cricket fans. Reliance Jio has started offering multiple prepaid plans bundled with Disney+ Hotstar where users will be able to watch World Cup cricket matches. Bharti Airtel has launched two plans, which include unlimited data for 2 days against a payment of Rs 99 and 6GB of additional data with 1-day validity for Rs 49. On the other hand, Jio has rolled out monthly, quarterly and annual plans bundled with data, unlimited voice, and subscription to Disney+ Hotstar mobile. Jio's basic plan is priced at Rs 328 and comes with 1.5 GB high-speed data per day for 28 days and a 3-month Disney+ Hotstar mobile subscription. In addition, Jio has also introduced a Rs 758 plan, which offers 1.5 GB of high-speed data per day for 84 days and comes with a 3-month Disney+ Hotstar mobile subscription. Similarly, plans priced at Rs 388 and Rs 808 offer 2 GB of high-speed data per day for 28 and 84 days, respectively, and come with 3 months of Disney+ Hotstar mobile subscription. In addition, the 84-day Rs 598 plan and the annual Rs 3,178 plan offer users one year of Disney+ Hotstar mobile subscription and 2GB high-speed data per day. Jio, Airtel roll out special plans to woo cricket fans during World Cup

New Delhi, Dec 2 () A day after India's top mobile phone service providers announced an increase in call and data charges, Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on Monday said mobile internet rate in the country remains by far the lowest in the world.
 Bharti Airtel Ltd, Vodafone Idea Ltd and Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd had on Sunday announced the rise in the cost of subscriptions to their plans with effect from Tuesday.
 "India's mobile internet rate per GB remains by far the lowest in the world. The UK-based http://cable.co.uk which compared mobile data plans around the world has indicated this," Prasad tweeted posting the comparative chart made by the price comparison site in March 2019.
 The average price of USD 0.26 for one gigabyte (GB) in India compares to USD 6.66 in the UK and USD 12.37 for the same amount of data in the US, the study, which compared mobile data charges in 230 countries, had shown in March 2019, which was posted by Prasad on Monday.
 The global average is USD 8.53 for 1 GB.
 "Government of @narendramodi inherited the high cost of the mobile internet from UPA, which was as high as Rs 268.97 per GB in 2014. Now it is Rs 11.78 per GB, as per TRAI," he said in another tweet.
 Bharti Airtel hiked prices of its most expensive plan by as much as 41 per cent effective December 3, while Reliance Jio raised them by as much as 40 per cent from December 6. Vodafone Idea increase would also be effective from December 3.
 "The mobile phone mess was the scam-tainted legacy of UPA. We have set it right, expanded mobile telephony with consumer satisfaction. Also committed to making BSNL/ MTNL professional and profitable," Prasad said in another tweet.
 The hike in tariff comes weeks after the Supreme Court upheld the government's definition of adjusted gross revenue (AGR), which is the basis on which telecom companies' licence fees and spectrum usage charges are paid. Bharti Airtel, Vodafone Idea and other telcos face as much as Rs 1.47 lakh crore in past liabilities following this ruling.
 Vodafone Idea and Bharti Airtel have announced new tariffs effective December 3 where headline data plans are priced 15-47 per cent higher. Both have removed their 1 GB per day plans (Rs 399 for 84 days) keeping just the 1.5 GB a day 84-day plan that itself is now 30 per cent more expensive at Rs 599 (from 459 before).
 Vodafone Idea though has retained a Rs 379 plan which gives 6 GB data for 84 days.
 Jio would raise tariffs by up to 40 per cent from December 6 and also with 300 per cent more benefit.
 While Airtel and Vodafone Idea have increased the pricing at the lower end voice-centric plans from Rs35/Rs65 to Rs49/Rs79, the pricing for 28-day unlimited combo plans have increased by 15-30 per cent. The pricing for the most popular 84-day unlimited plan has increased by 30-36 per cent.
 Following in Jio's footsteps, both Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea have also introduced caps for off-net calls as part of their 'unlimited calling' benefits.
 According to Credit Suisse, post the tariff hikes, Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea's plans are at a 20-60 per cent premium over Jio's October 2019 'All-in-plans'. "We think after Jio's announced tariff hikes, the premium is likely to decline to 10-20 per cent for the more popular tariff plans."
