Addressing a gathering in Dumka on Tuesday, Soren said, "Our government is giving 200 units of <keyword id="20413522" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="free-electricity" source="keywords">free electricity</keyword> and now in the first phase, all the old electricity dues of the poor who do not give Income Tax Returns will be <keyword id="21410925" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="waived-off" source="keywords">waived off</keyword>. The government will also assess middle-class families. The government is trying to send a zero rupee bill to everyone's house." Patna (Bihar) [India], March 22 (ANI): Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tej Pratap Yadav on Friday condemned the recent arrest of Delhi's Chief Minister Arvind <keyword id="19895701" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="kejriwal" source="keywords">Kejriwal</keyword> and stated the INDIA alliance is not the one who gets scared, adding that the INDIA alliance are the ones who fight and win. He also accused the BJP of using government investigation agencies and other constitutional institutions to their advantage in the upcoming elections. He added that the people of INDIA Alliance, stand firmly with the Delhi government. "The way Delhi's Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was arrested today clearly shows that the BJP is completely scared and wants to fight elections with the help of government investigation agencies and other constitutional institutions. We, the people of the INDIA Alliance, stand firmly with the Delhi government. We are not the ones who get scared, we are the ones who fight and win," he said in a post on X. A team from the Enforcement Directorate arrived at Kejriwal's residence on Thursday to interrogate him regarding the liquor policy case. During a search operation conducted at his residence, Kejriwal was arrested amidst dramatic circumstances, as the AAP convener failed to obtain interim protection from arrest in the liquor policy case from the Delhi High Court. The Enforcement Directorate took him to the agency's headquarters later. A medical team also arrived at the ED office. AAP workers and leaders rallied behind Kejriwal following his arrest while leaders of the INDIA bloc also extended their support for the AAP leader. BJP leaders extended their support to the ED's actions against the Delhi Chief Minister, emphasizing "truth had to prevail". Pointing to the arrests of two opposition chief ministers and the freezing of a bank account of the Congress party, Delhi Minister and Aam Aadmi Party leader Atishi on Thursday asked the BJP to stop doing politics behind the Enforcement Directorate. She accused the BJP of attempting to win elections through undemocratic means and urged them to engage in fair political competition rather than using the ED as a tool or weapon for their political agenda. Ranchi, Jul 11 () Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren and his wife Kalpana tested negative for COVID-19 on Saturday, an official statement said. Earlier in the day, health workers had collected swab samples of Soren and his wife, and some officials working in the Chief Minister's Office (CMO). The chief minister has been in home quarantine since July 8 after he came in contact with Drinking and Sanitation Minister Mithilesh Thakur and JMM MLA Mathura Mahato, who have been found infected with COVID-19. Health workers took swab samples of the chief minister, his wife Kalpana Soren, Press Adviser Abhishek Prasad, senior personal secretary Sunil Srivastav and other officials and police officers working at the CMO, the statement said. All the swab samples of the chief minister, his wife and other officials tested negative for COVID-19, the CMO said in the statement. Ranchi/Hazaribag, Apr 9 () Eight new COVID-19 cases were recorded in Jharkhand in the last 24 hours, taking the state's tally to 13, as Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Thursday appealed to people to remain vigilant and strictly adhere to the instructions. He also urged the people not to heed to rumours, a release from the Chief Minister's Office said. "COVID-19 positive patients have increased in the state. Now it is time to remain vigilant and comply with government orders strictly," the release said quoting Soren. The state reported the first novel coronavirus-related death when a 72-year-old man from Bokaro died of the infection on Wednesday night. Eight new COVID-19 cases were reported in Bokaro and Ranchi, taking the total confirmed coronavirus cases in the state to 13. "The state government is in touch with the Centre to meet resource requirements," he said, asking the people to keep away from rumours. The chief minister has been urging the Centre to provide more medical equipment to fight the pandemic in the state. The CMO release also said 25 migrant labourers, who are stranded in Tamil Nadu, are being given shelter, food and medical treatment in Chennai following Soren's intervention. The labourers belong to Garhwa and when the Jharkhand chief minister was informed about their distress, he contacted his Tamil Nadu counterpart E Palaniswami and sought help. In Hazaribag, Jharkhand Health Minister Banna Gupta told a press conference on Thursday that the state government has urged the ICMR to set up testing laboratories for COVID-19 at Hazaribag Medical College and Hospital, and PMCH, Dhanbad. Testing centres are presently available in state-run Ranchi and Jamshedpur hospitals. The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has assured the Jharkhand government that it would provide as per the proposal sent by it, Gupta said. "... the COVID-19 cases were limited, but on April 8 one person died of the disease and the cases climbed to 13, which is very alarming. The Jharkhand irrigation project -- that initially started with an estimated cost of ₹12 crore, took 42 years to build. The canal was meant to provide water in 85 villages across Giridih, <keyword id="43255" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Hazaribagh">Hazaribagh</keyword> and Bokaro districts was washed away. The irrigation project in Giridih district was dedicated to the people by Chief Minister Raghubar Das on Wednesday. "The initial probe suspected 'rat holes' causing damage to the canal," said the government statement. The repair works are on. In 1978, the then Governor of undivided Bihar Jaggananth Kaushal had laid the foundation of the project. However, it was delayed due to several reasons, including the indifference of the successive governments. The cost of the project also escalated from ₹12 crore in 1978 to ₹2,500 crore. In 2003, the then Chief Minister Arjun Munda again laid the foundation stone for the canal, but work moved at a snail’s pace. In 2012, once again tender was floated for the project, which was bagged by a Mumbai-based company. As per the Water Resources Department, the total length of the canal is 404.17 km. He left the BJP on charges that the party had sidelined him and failed to recognize him and hence started JVM. The party president has announced that JVM will face the upcoming assembly elections alone and hence will nominate its candidates to contest from all the 81 seats. In the 2014 assembly elections, the party had won only 2 seats. INC, JMM and RJD INC is facing the 2019 general elections for the Vidhan Sabha in Jharkhand in alliance with Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and Lalu Prasad Yadav's Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD).
