The prestigious Joint Entrance <keyword id="49591" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="examination">Examination</keyword> (<keyword id="6392660" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="JEE">JEE</keyword>) Advanced 2021 test has been postponed in view of the coronavirus situation in the country. Since the <keyword id="9859756" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="JEE-Mains-Examination">JEE Mains examination</keyword> could not be held at the scheduled time (May 24-28), so the <keyword id="1126172" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="JEE-Advanced">JEE Advanced</keyword> examination, which was going to be held on July 3, has also been postponed, the <keyword id="55119" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-Institute-of-Technology">Indian Institute of Technology</keyword>, <keyword id="6357441" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="kharagpur">Kharagpur</keyword> announced. The Union <keyword id="181369" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Education-ministry">Education Ministry</keyword> had decided to conduct the JEE Mains examination four times in the current year. Candidates can appear in all four examinations of which their best test scores will be considered for appearing for the JEE Advanced exam. However, only two of the four sessions of JEE Mains examination have been conducted till now. <keyword id="581232" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="National-Testing-Agency">National Testing Agency</keyword>'s Senior Examination Director, Sadhana Parashar, said the first session of the JEE Mains examination was held in February this year and more than 6,20,000 students appeared. The second session was held in March with more than 5,56,000 students appearing. The third session of the JEE Mains examination was scheduled to be held from April 27 to 30, but had to be postponed in view of the second wave of pandemic. In the sane way, the fourth session to be held on May 24-28 was also postponed. According to the Education Ministry, students will be informed 15 days in advance before the test is conducted. The results of the JEE Main Exam Session 2 which were held in March have been already declared. These exams were conducted in 12 foreign cities and 334 Indian cities. Due to the second wave of Covid-19, the Union Education Ministry had decided to postpone all offline examinations scheduled in the month of May. This decision will be applicable to all central higher educational institutions across the country. Such higher educational institutions, which receive financial aid from the government, will also have to postpone these too. JEE Advanced exam postponed due to surge in COVID-19 cases in the country

With a score of 314 marks out of 360, R.K. Shishir from Bombay zone has secured the first rank in the <keyword id="6354859" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="iit" source="Orion">IIT</keyword> entrance examination JEE-Advanced, the results of which were declared on Sunday. R.K. Shishir is the topper among the students whose names are included in the list of top 10 in JEE-Advanced exam. <keyword id="14954873" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="polu-lakshmi-sai" source="Orion">Polu Lakshmi Sai</keyword> came at number two, <keyword id="14954874" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="thomas-biju" source="Orion">Thomas Biju</keyword> at number three, <keyword id="14954872" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="vangapalli-sai-siddharth" source="Orion">Vangapalli Sai Siddharth</keyword> at number four and Mayank Motwani of IIT Delhi zone came at number five. <keyword id="14954875" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="polishetty-kartikeya" source="Orion">Polishetty Kartikeya</keyword> is at 6th position, Prateek Sahu is 7th, Dheeraj Kurukunda is 8th in All India Rank, Mahit is at 9th position and Vetcha Gnana Mahesh has secured 10th position. Tanishka secured 277 marks out of 360 in JEE-Advanced exam. 40,712 candidates qualified this year out of a total of 1,55,538 who appeared in both Paper 1 and 2 of JEE-Advanced 2022. Based on the results, the admission process will now begin in 23 IITs across the country. Of the total 40,712 candidates who have qualified the JEE-Advanced exam, 6516 are girl students. In the case of foreign students, 296 foreign girl students had registered themselves for JEE-Advanced examinations. However, only foreign 280 students appeared and a 145 cracked the examination. JEE-Advanced exam was held on August 28. The test for the first paper of JEE-Advanced exam was held from 9 a.m. to 12 noon and the second paper was held from 2.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. In order to prevent electronic malpractices in the JEE-Advanced examination, 'jammers' were installed at the centres. IIT Roorkee announced the JEE Advanced result today on 14 June 2019. Maharashtra’s <keyword id="7757730" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="kartikeya-gupta">Kartikeya Gupta</keyword> topped JEE advanced exam 2019 scoring 346 marks out of 360. Gupta, who is a student from Allen Institute Kota scored 93.7% in class 12th examination and plans to take up computer science at IIT Mumbai. His father is working in the paper industry as a General Manager. On being asked about his secret to success, Gupta told <a href="https://zeenews.india.com/india/maharashtras-kartikeya-gupta-tops-jee-advanced-exam-allahabads-himanshu-singh-2nd-delhis-archit-bubna-3rd-2211477.html">ZEE Business</a> that he used to focus on the entrance study for nearly four to six hours a day. He also noted that daily revision and relaxation of mind is important for better results. Among the toppers is Himanshu Singh from Allahabad and Archit Bubna of New Delhi who secured second and third rank, respectively, in the JEE Advanced examination 2019. Last year, Pranav Goyal from Chandigarh topped the JEE Advanced examination, scoring 337 marks. The JEE examination was conducted on 27 May 2019. <ul class="summary-list"><li>In 2023, a record number of low-income students took Advanced Placement exams.</li><li>The College Board made about $500 million in revenue as a result.</li></ul>For high school students across the United States, Advanced Placement courses offer a curriculum that not only exposes them to university-level work but can give them credits for college should they score high enough on end-of-course exams.For many students from low-income and working-class backgrounds, the benefits of AP coursework can be the difference between saving tuition money from earned credits or forgoing college due to a lack of funding.For the College Board, which created and administers the AP program, increasing access to AP coursework has been a significant part of the organization's work over the past 20 years. And part of that push by the AP has been to increase the number of low-income students taking courses and exams, which requires a significant educational and financial investment.However, as the College Board has pitched more schools to sign on to AP coursework and register students for exams, the performance levels for low-income test-takers has not dramatically shifted from the early 2000s: 60 percent of students from this demographic group only earned a 1 or 2 out of a possible 5 on the exam, which precludes them from earning college credit for the AP course.In 2023, 38 percent of all test-takers scored a 1 or 2, with low-income students posting higher failure rates. Yet taxpayers this year shelled out at least $90 million to pay for AP exams that a sizable percentage of students didn't pass, <a target="_blank" href="https://www.nytimes.com/2010/02/11/education/11college.html">according to The New York Times</a>.The Times, based on its own analysis of College Board files and local education budgets, said that the organization receives about $100 million each year in public money for AP exams. In response to The Times, the College Board said that in 2023, it had received at least $90 million from the federal government to cover exam fees.In tax filings, the College Board stated that it took in roughly $5 million to $6 million in direct government funding each year, according to the newspaper.<div type="image" title="Harvard" height="683" width="1024" msid="105337560" hostid="261" sizebytes="170422"></div><h2>'The best stuff in education'</h2>At $98 per exam for US test-takers, AP fees bring in a lot of money to the organization, and the push to enroll more low-income students into the program comes at a time where revenue from the SAT — the College Board test that in recent years has become optional for students applying to a swath of institutions — has sharply declined.The Times reported that from 2019 to 2022, SAT revenue dropped from $403.6 million to $289.2 million, a reflection of the test being less ubiquitous in the college admissions process.The College Board stands firmly behind its AP push, though, pointing to equity and the need to expand education opportunities for students who may not have been initially on a college coursework track."What if the best stuff in education were not just for the best to distinguish themselves — but could engage a much broader set of kids?" The program in 2022 brought in nearly $500 million in revenue.While the AP expansion has offered more opportunities to a broad range of students, questions remain regarding the actual preparedness of low-income students, as they often lack the funding to pay for expensive test preparation courses and may not have been exposed to as much high-level work as their upper-income peers before high school.In 2023, a record 1.1 million students from low-income households took AP exams, per The Times. It's a sharp increase from 2003 when 153,000 low-income students took the exams.Overall, 5.2 million students sat down for AP exams in 2023, a more than threefold increase from 2002, when 1.6 million students took the exams.Trevor Packer, who heads the Advanced Placement program, told The Times that the number of students taking on the intense AP curriculum and the push to find students who can perform well in the classes more than makes up for the low scores from many test-takers.In a statement, the College Board said that the money it receives from the government — about 18 percent of its overall revenue — was "minimal" compared to its operating revenue."We believe these are worthwhile investments in preparing all students for their futures," the organization said. "We recognize that all students are not yet receiving equitable preparation for AP coursework and that such work requires addressing inequities that occur years prior."
