<strong><br /></strong><ul><li><strong>The Wealth Report in the City Wellbeing Index compiled top cities around the world with the most access to green space. <br /><br /></strong></li><li><strong>Oslo was the top city in the list with the highest of 68% of public spaces comprise of parks and gardens.<br /></strong></li></ul>As cities develop most of them end up turning into concrete jungles. But that is changing and greenery is a key element when it comes to assessing quality of life, according to Knight <keyword id="8872050" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="frank-wealth">Frank Wealth</keyword> Report. <br /><br />“The conventional steel, glass and concrete structures that adorn many a vertical global city are being augmented by more hybrid solutions that integrate sky courts and sky gardens as alternative open and social spaces. They can enhance the health and wellbeing of citizens through exposure to greenery, natural light and ventilation,” Professor <keyword id="8872049" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="jason-pomeroy">Jason Pomeroy</keyword>, founding principal of Singapore-based sustain-able design firm <keyword id="8872048" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="pomeroy-studio">Pomeroy Studio</keyword> told The Wealth Report. <br /><br />While countries New Zealand are creating new sustainable cities like Auranga, a few old cities like <keyword id="6354539" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Dubai">Dubai</keyword> are being revamped in line with the new principles of sustainability. “Who we become as people is defined by where and how we live. The desire is to reimagine a new way of living, not just through technology and gadgets and fitness but by putting wellbeing at the core, and building around it,” <keyword id="323976" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Charles-Ma">Charles Ma</keyword> of MADE Group told the report. <br /><br />The report also recognized other initiatives like Barcelona which reworked its city design with “superblocks” that allow pedestrians. “In <keyword id="22442" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Amsterdam">Amsterdam</keyword>, which ranks seventh in our index, new blue-green roofs are being installed, which can absorb more water than normal green roofs, protecting homes from flooding, heat and drought,” the report said. <br /><br />The Wealth Report in the City Wellbeing Index compiled top cities around the world with the most access to green space analysed 40 global cities. <p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"><p class="source"><span><a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/jasonparis/4066110187/">Jason Paris / Flickr, CC</a></span></p><p class="caption">But the worst may be over!</p></div><p></p></div></div></p><ul class="summary-list"><li><strong>New car demand in the US is falling, according to HSBC.</strong></li><li><strong>Honda, Nissan, Ford and General Motors have announced thousands of job cuts in Europe.</strong></li><li><strong>Trade wars are hurting <keyword id="6356001" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="international">international</keyword> auto exports and reducing demand.</strong></li><li><strong>But there is hope - "industrial recessions" don't last very long and there may be an immediate bounce back.</strong>  </li></ul><p>The world is cooling off its love affair with cars, and that is a factor pushing the global economy toward recession, according to two economists at HSBC.</p><p>They produced this chart (below) comparing new car registrations to retail sales in the US to make their point. The US economy has been doing well, and shoppers have kept up their retail demand. But not for automobiles: </p><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"><p class="source"><span>HSBC</span></p><p class="caption">Consumers are buying, just not cars.</p></div><p></p></div></div></p><p>"Car demand is in decline due to a greater focus on environmental policies, increased urbanization and investment in alternatives - be it on- demand cars or public transport," according to HSBC economists Janet Henry and James Pomeroy. (On a side note: This is another piece of anecdotal evidence that ride-sharing apps like <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/studies-uber-drivenow-demand-private-car-vehicle-sales-2017-8">Uber are reducing the demand for cars</a>.)</p><p>It's not just the US. The car industry in Europe is also shrinking:</p><ul><li><strong>Honda announced it would <a href="https://www.ft.com/content/d1c842f0-3391-11e9-bb0c-42459962a812">close its plant in Swindon</a>, England, with the loss of 3,500 jobs.</strong></li><li><strong>Honda is also <a href="https://www.ft.com/content/ec3a094a-33a3-11e9-bb0c-42459962a812">closing a factory in Turkey</a>.</strong></li><li><strong>Nissan said it would <a href="https://www.ft.com/content/ac715938-3085-11e9-8744-e7016697f225">not build its X-Trail SUV in Sunderland</a>, England.</strong></li><li><strong>General Motors announced it was <a href="https://www.ft.com/content/1563442e-f18e-11e8-9623-d7f9881e729f">shutting seven plants globally</a> in November 2018, with 14,000 jobs lost, reduced or moved.</strong></li><li><strong>Ford is <a href="https://www.ft.com/content/1f85c9ee-14a8-11e9-a581-4ff78404524e">cutting operations in Europe</a> with the loss of "thousands" of jobs.</strong></li><li><strong>Jaguar Land Rover said in January it would <a href="https://www.ft.com/content/c4f06f8e-ff99-11e8-aebf-99e208d3e521">cut 5,000 jobs</a> in the UK.</strong></li></ul><p>"Parts of the world are already in industrial recession," Henry and Pomeroy said in a note to clients seen by Business Insider.</p><p>The HSBC pair are most concerned about the overall reduction in global trade and the effect that has had on global exports. Trade wars - US v China and Britain v the EU - have hit manufacturers the hardest as companies and consumers try to reduce their exposure to uncertain international markets. In so doing they have reduced their total aggregate economic output, hurting jobs.</p><h2>"Much of the weakness in the global economy has been concentrated in the manufacturing sector"</h2><p>The damage has been uneven. The US and China are both still doing relatively well thanks to their respective governments' fiscal stimuli. But industrial production in Europe and Japan are suffering.</p><p>"The surprise indices for the Eurozone and LatAm have collapsed since mid-2018 and consensus growth forecasts for the major economies have been lowered aggressively over the past six months or so," the HSBC note says.</p><p>"The consensus estimates for the US and China in 2018 are still completely unchanged from their June forecasts, while the full-year outturn for German GDP growth of 1.5% was 0.9% percentage points below its April consensus forecast. Japan's was 0.7ppts below and the latest consensus for Latin America is 1.2ppts below the mid-year consensus high."</p><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table click-to-enlarge"><div><div class="image on-image"><a title_source="HSBC" title_caption="A " surprise="" index="" shows="" an="" average="" of="" whether="" economic="" data="" beat="" or="" miss="" forecasts="" and="" by="" how="" much.="" class="zoomin" href="https://static-ssl.businessinsider.com/image/5c6bde0d1631a33aa524b863-960/screenshot 2019-02-19 at 101155.png"><span class="sprites click-to-enlarge-icon" title="Click to enlarge"></span></a><p class="source"><span>HSBC</span></p><p class="caption">A "surprise index" shows an average of whether economic data beat or miss forecasts, and by how much.</p></div><p></p></div></div></p><p>"Much of the weakness in the global economy has been concentrated in the manufacturing sector: the global manufacturing PMI has dropped by 3.6 points since the beginning of 2018 while the services PMI has edged down by 1.6 points," the note says.</p><p>There may already be light at the end of the tunnel. "Industrial recessions" tend to be short, just a couple of quarters. And a majority of the major economies are based in services not manufacturing. Nimitz.</p></div><p></p></div>DUBAI (Reuters) - A replica of a U.S. aircraft carrier spotted near the coast of Iran is nothing more sinister than a movie set, Iranian media said on Sunday.</p>
<p>The New York Times, quoting U.S. intelligence, said last week that the Iranians were building a mock-up of a U.S. nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, possibly so they could then blow it up for propaganda purposes.</p>
<p>Satellite photos showed what looked like one of the U.S. Navy's Nimitz-class aircraft carriers, complete with planes, rising from Iran's Gachin shipyard, near the port of Bandar Abbas.</p>
<p>Iranian newspapers said it was "part of the decor" of a movie being made by Iranian director Nader Talebzadeh on the 1988 shooting down of an Iran Air civilian plane by the USS Vincennes. The United States says the downing of the plane, which killed all 290 passengers and crew, was an accident.</p>
<p>"The issue has turned into a good excuse for another wave of hype against Iran," said the Alef news website which carries views close to the official line in Iran.</p>
<p>"Without any proof or real basis, Western media have jumped again to paint a more negative picture of Iran."</p>
<p>A spokesman for the U.S. Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain acknowledged that the replica was "more akin to a Hollywood set than a warship."</p>
<p>"We know it's not an actual aircraft carrier. It's made to look like one of ours ... but makes us wonder: what is it all for?" Jason Salata told Reuters by telephone.</p>
<p>"We've seen them make target barges before and tow them and shoot them out as missile exercises and use it for state-run media. This one is a little bit of a head-scratcher. If you're spending resources on this, what would it be for?"</p>
<p>Iranian officials were not available to comment.</p>
