Briefing the media after the meeting, Information and Broadcasting Minister <keyword id="211839" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="anurag-singh-thakur" source="Orion">Anurag Singh Thakur</keyword> said November 15 as <keyword id="12505586" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="janjatiya-gaurav" source="Orion">Janjatiya Gaurav</keyword> Divas will be dedicated to the memory of brave tribal freedom fighters so that coming generations could know about their sacrifices for the country. "November 15 is the birth anniversary of Birsa Munda who is revered as Bhagwan by tribal communities across the country. He fought bravely against the exploitative system of the British colonial system and spearheaded the movement against British oppression giving a call for 'Ulgulan' (Revolution)," Thakur said. The declaration acknowledges the glorious history and cultural heritage of tribal communities and the day will be celebrated every year. It would recognize the efforts of the tribals for preservation of cultural heritage and promotion of Indian values of valour, hospitality and national pride. The government has planned week-long celebrations from November 15 to 22 to commemorate 75 years of the history of the tribal people, their culture and achievements. Several activities have been planned jointly with the state governments and the theme behind each activity is to showcase the unique tribal cultural heritage, their contributions to the freedom struggle, practices, rights, traditions, cuisines, health, education and livelihood. India's freedom struggle was strengthened by several movements by tribal communities such as Santhals, Tamars, Kols, Bhils, Khasis and Mizos to name a few. Tribal movements in different regions of the country against the British colonial rule got linked with the national freedom struggle and inspired Indians all over the country. However, the public at large is not much aware about these tribal heroes. Pursuant to the speech of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Independence Day in 2016, the Centre has sanctioned 10 tribal freedom fighter museums across the country. Union Cabinet approves declaration of November 15 as Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas

New Delhi, The Union Cabinet has approved the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan, which focuses on 11 critical interventions for Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups, Minister Anurag Thakur said on Wednesday. Prime Minister <keyword id="6354477" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Narendra-Modi" source="Orion">Narendra Modi</keyword> had announced the scheme on Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas in Jharkhand's Khunti. The scheme -- which aims to, among others, provide pucca houses, piped water supply and roads -- got the Cabinet nod late on Tuesday. The total outlay for the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM-JANMAN) has been pegged at Rs 24,104 crore, of which the central share will be Rs 15,336 crore and the states will contribute Rs 8,768 crore. "Over 28,16,000 (28.16 lakh) tribal people from 220 districts in 18 states and one Union Territory will benefit from this scheme. Those tribals who have not yet benefited from Government of India schemes so far will be the beneficiaries under this scheme," Thakur said. The beneficiaries have been identified from among 75 tribal communities with a scattered habitation. "Under the scheme, 11 main interventions have been identified on the basis of which benefits will be given to them. These include housing, all-weather roads, clean drinking water, electricity, mobile dispensaries and mobile towers...," Thakur said. He added that assured livelihood opportunities will also be provided. The scheme targets to provide 4.90 lakh pucca homes at a cost of Rs 2.39 lakh per house, construction of 8,000 kilometres of roads at a cost of Rs 1 crore per kilometre, piped water supply for all Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG) habitations, community water supply in 2,500 villages/habitations with a population of less than 20 households, a thousand mobile medical units with medicine cost for 10 districts at Rs 33.88 lakh per mobile medical unit, 500 hostels at a cost of Rs 2.75 crore each, and vocational and skilling centres in 60 Aspirational PVTG block at Rs 50 lakh per block. It will also provide for the construction of 2,500 Anganwadi centres (at Rs 12 lakh each), multipurpose centres (at Rs 60 lakh each), last-mile electricity connection for 57,000 households, a 0.3 KW solar off-grid system, solar lighting in streets, and installation of mobile towers in 3,000 villages. India has a Scheduled Tribe population of 10.45 crore, according to the 2011 census. Of the total, 75 communities in 18 states and the Union Territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands have been categorised as PVTGs. These PVTGs continue to face vulnerability in social, economic and educational fields. The Pradhan Mantri PVTG Development Mission to improve the socioeconomic conditions of these groups was announced in the Union Budget for 2023-24. The Union Ministry of Ayush will set up Ayush Wellness Centres, according to existing norms, and Ayush facilities will be extended to PVTG habitations through mobile medical units. The Union Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship will facilitate skill and vocational training in PVTG habitations, multi-purpose centres and hostels, according to suitable skills of these communities.

The Prime Minister will also address the gathering on the occasion. Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati, born on February 12, 1824, was a social reformer who founded Arya Samaj in 1875 to counter then prevalent social inequities. Arya Samaj played a key role in cultural and social awakening of the country by its emphasis on social reforms and education. As per a statement issued by the Prime Minister's office (PMO), the government has been committed to celebrating the social reformers and important personalities, especially those whose contributions were not given their due yet on a pan-India scale. "From declaring the birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda as Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas to participating in a programme commemorating Sri Aurobindo's 150th birth anniversary, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been leading such initiatives from the front," the PMO statement said. He also pointed out that his company was the first in the world to develop a <keyword id="3225534" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Zika-vaccine" source="Orion">Zika vaccine</keyword>. Taking the <keyword id="9485939" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="covaxin" source="Orion">Covaxin</keyword> vaccine by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi showed confidence in Indian Science, he said at the Times Now Summit 2021. About the importance of nasal vaccine, he said the entire world is looking at nasal vaccines. That is the only way to stop transmission. Everyone is trying to figure out the immunology and fortunately, Bharat Biotech has figured it out. "We are coming out with a nasal vaccine, we are thinking that Covaxin can be given as first dose, the second dose can be given a nasal, that is also strategically, scientifically very important because with the second dose, if it is a nasal one, you stop the transmission of the virus...," Ella said. Nasal vaccine works well if someone has been infected or if someone has been vaccinated with one dose, he added. About the PM taking the Covaxin shot, he said, "What would a scientist like to have? A country head taking his vaccine. That is the best satisfaction a scientist can get... It shows confidence in the Indian science, confidence in the startup, and confidence in our innovation...". Speaking about a vaccine for Zika, Ella said Bharat Biotech is ready with a vaccine for Zika virus. Phase I is complete. The government has to take up more trials because there are more cases now. "We were the first company in the world to develop the Zika vaccine in 2014... We were the first one to file for a global patent for Zika vaccine", he added.
