New Delhi, Mar 19 () Traders across the country are likely to observe Janata Curfew on Sunday and keep their establishments shut in response to a call given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, said traders' body CAIT.<p> In a statement issued after the Prime Minister's address to the nation on the coronavirus pandemic, the Confederation of All India Traders' (CAIT) seven crore business establishments across the country may down their shutters on March 22.</p><p> "A final decision to the call for nationwide market closure on March 22 will be taken tomorrow (on Friday) after having consultations with trade leaders of all states," said CAIT Secretary General Praveen Khandelwal.</p><p> In his address to the nation, Modi made a fervent appeal to all Indians to stay indoors as much as possible to avoid getting infected by the coronavirus outbreak, saying the world has never seen a danger as grave as this.</p><p> He called for 'Janata Curfew' on March 22 from 7 am to 9 pm, saying no citizen, barring those in essential services, should get out of the house.</p><p> "Even World War I and II did not affect as many countries as coronavirus has done," Modi said in a national broadcast.</p><p> Asking people to sacrifice "some weeks of yours, some time of yours", Modi said given that coronavirus has no cure yet, the only way to stay safe is to stay indoors.</p> "I request all people in the country to get out of house only when it is extremely necessary, try and do all work from home," he said. <ul><li>On the day of the <keyword id="1814675" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Janata-Curfew">Janata curfew</keyword>, from 7 am to 9 pm, everyone stayed home, the roads bore an empty look, with nothing but <keyword id="6835803" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="essential-services">essential services</keyword> plying. </li><li>However, grocery delivery service <keyword id="2466939" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Grofers">Grofers</keyword> faced major issues on the day of Janata curfew.</li><li>Its delivery agents were stopped and arrested which led to a delay of 60,000 orders across the country. </li></ul>On March 22, India observed a Janata curfew, or a self-imposed curfew called for by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. From 7 am to 9 pm, everyone stayed home, the roads bore an empty look, with only essential services set to be available to stall the spread of <keyword id="1754604" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="coronavirus">Coronavirus</keyword>. <br /><br />However, grocery delivery service Grofers faced major issues on the day. Its delivery agents were stopped and arrested which led to a delay of 60,000 orders across the country. <br /><br />“As per the directive of the central government, we at Grofers continued to provide essential goods to customers across the country on the day of Janta Curfew. State Government and local administration are advised to exempt e-commerce operations (warehousing and logistics facilities and services), wholesaler, their vendors and third party delivery partners who are a part of the supply and logistics chain ecosystem, from any type of prohibitory orders etc,” said Albinder Dhindsa, co-founder &amp; CEO, Grofers.<br /><br />While a lockdown has been issued, only essential services will be open. E-commerce is listed under the essential services category which meant that delivery agents from Amazon, Flipkart, Zomato, Swiggy, Bigbasket, Grofers and others would be able to continue with work. <br /><br />In spite of this, Grofers says it faced major issues.<br /><br />“Due to some confusion regarding the services exempted, many of our delivery riders were stopped and arrested which led to a delay in the delivery of almost 60,000 orders countrywide. New Delhi, Mar 21 () Ride hailing companies Ola and Uber will operate limited cabs during the 'Janata' curfew hours on Sunday for essential travels. <p>"As per the Hon'ble Prime Minister's appeal to the nation to take part in the Janata curfew, we encourage all our users across India to avoid all non-essential travel from 7 am to 9 pm tomorrow. We will have limited availability of vehicles to support essential and emergency travel during this period," Ola spokesperson said in a statement. </p><p>To check the spread of coronavirus, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has appealed to citizens to observe a 'Janata curfew' on Sunday between 7 am to 9 pm by staying indoors at their homes and avoid unnecessary travel.</p><p>"In line with the government's advisory, we urge riders to observe the 'Janata Curfew' on Sunday, March 22. However, we will offer services to meet the essential and urgent travel needs of the communities we serve," Uber said. </p>Both Ola and Uber have temporarily suspended their shared ride service to check the spread of the deadly virus which has killed over 11,000 people globally.
