From <keyword id="20852321" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="FO-trading" source="keywords">F&amp;O trading</keyword> (futures and options) and buybacks getting more expensive in the hands of the individual, to changes in TDS slabs for payments concerning life insurance, brokerage, and more, here's a ready reckoner for all that you need to know: 1. STT upped for F&amp;O (Futures and Options) trading This budget, in a bid to discourage retail investors from burning their hands in the highly risky F&amp;O segment, the government had proposed raising the STT (securities transaction tax) for both futures and options. Starting today, you will have to pay an STT of 0.1% on premium earned from option sales, as opposed to 0.0625% previously. As for futures, the STT is set to rise to 0.02% of trade price, up from its previous mark of 0.0125%. Notably, STT is levied every time an individual purchases or sells a security, which significantly increases its incidence and coverage. For instance, if the trading price of the futures you're selling today is Rs 1,000, you'd have to pay Rs 0.2 as STT today. Till September 30th, the STT applicable would be Rs 0.12. Similarly, for options, if the settlement price of your options contract is Rs 1,000, your STT payable today would be Re 1, which earlier stood at Rs 0.625 While this may sound super inconvenient for frequent or intraday traders, a recent SEBI study has highlighted that a staggering 93% individual traders have incurred just losses while trading in the F&amp;O segment between FY22 and FY24, with the total losses exceeding Rs 1.8 lakh crore during this period. Only a tiny 1% traders managed to rake in profits above Rs 1,00,000. Perhaps SEBI is thinking along the lines of prevention being better than cure? 2. Changes in Debit card rules for ICICI bank ICICI debit card users, who also happen to be frequent flyers, listen up! Starting today, you will be able to access the complimentary airport lounge service twice, but only if you have spent Rs 10,000 or more via your card in the previous quarter. So, suppose you've spent just Rs 8,000 between July-September 2024 via your ICICI debit card. Since this falls below the Rs 10,000-threshold, you wont be able to access complimentary airport lounge service two times between October-December 2024. 3. Changes in rules for PPF, small savings account The interest rates on various small savings schemes were left unchanged by the Finance Ministry for the upcoming quarter i.e. October-December 2024. For this quarter, Public Provident Funds (PPF) will earn you 7.1% interest p.a., while Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana (SSY) and Senior Citizens Savings Scheme (SCSS) will offer interest at the rate of 8.2% p.a. <div type="Article" hostid="261" msid="113692667" title="Attention! Here's what's changing with your PPF accounts starting 1st October, 2024" mstype="2" mssubtype="0"></div> Also, these changes in PPF accounts will kick in from today: <ul><li>Have a PPF account in your child's name i.e. a minor? This account would earn the same interest as a POSA (Post Office Savings Account) i.e. at 4% p.a. currently. Once your child turns 18, the prevailing PPF interest rate, which is presently at 7.1%, will be levied. </li><li>No more interest earning via multiple PPF accounts! Starting today, only your primary PPF account will be eligible for interest. </li><li>Are you an NRI who currently holds an active PPF account, and you have not disclosed your residency status in Form H (used to extend the tenure of your PPF account by blocks of 5 years)? Starting today, such accounts will earn zero interest. </li></ul>4. Buyback set to get more expensive Buybacks happen when a company decides to buy back its own shares from its existing shareholders. What's in for the shareholders, you ask? The buyback price is usually higher than what is offered by the markets. You are eligible to participate in a company's buyback if you hold its shares on or before the record date that's set by the company. Starting today, buybacks will be treated just like dividends. This means starting today, the burden of tax payable on buybacks will fall on the shareholders selling the shares, and not the company. Buybacks will be taxed as per the individual's personal income tax bracket. 5. Revision of TDS rates Starting today, the TDS (tax deducted at source) on various payments you make for life insurance, lottery tickets and more is also set to change. Nearly 88 per cent of the investments made by Alternative Investment Funds (<keyword id="1006423" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="aifs" source="Orion">AIFs</keyword>) under the Startups <keyword id="3483659" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="ffs" source="Orion">FFS</keyword> (Fund for Funds) Scheme have gone to five states. <keyword id="6354780" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="karnataka" source="Orion">Karnataka</keyword> has topped the list of states with an investment of Rs 4,687 crore out of the total investment of Rs 14,077 crore spread across the country. The Fund of Funds for Startups (FFS) Scheme was approved and established in 2016 with a corpus of Rs 10,000 crore, with contribution spread over the 14th and 15th Finance Commission cycle based on progress of implementation, to provide a much-needed boost to the Indian startup ecosystem and enable access to domestic capital. As on December 31, 2022, under FFS, Rs 7,980 crore has been committed to 99 AIFs and Rs 3,400 crore has been disbursed to 72 AIFs which have in turn made investments of Rs 14,077 crore in 791 startups. The government data said that while Karnataka got an investment of Rs 4687 crore for 240 startups under the scheme, Maharashtra's 176 startups received an investment of Rs 3,426 crore and Delhi's 138 startups got Rs 2,254 crore. Similarly, in Haryana 60 startups received an investment of Rs 1,148 crore and in <keyword id="20154" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="tamil-nadu" source="Orion">Tamil Nadu</keyword>, 29 startups got an investment of Rs 826 crore. Under FFS, the Scheme does not directly invest in startups, instead it provides capital to SEBI-registered Alternative Investment Funds (AIFs), known as daughter funds, who in turn invest money in growing Indian startups through equity and equity-linked instruments. The <keyword id="104385" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="small-industries-development-bank-of-india" source="Orion">Small Industries Development Bank of India</keyword> (SIDBI) has been given the mandate of operating this Fund through selection of suitable daughter funds and overseeing the disbursal of committed capital. AIFs supported under FFS are required to invest at least two times of the amount committed under FFS in startups. The Government with an intent to build a strong ecosystem for nurturing innovation, startups and encouraging private investments in the startup ecosystem of the country launched Startup India initiative on January 16, 2016. The flagship Schemes including Fund of Funds for Startups (FFS), <keyword id="9949511" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="startup-india-seed-fund-scheme" source="Orion">Startup India Seed Fund Scheme</keyword> (SISFS) and Credit Guarantee Scheme for Startups (CGSS) support startups at various stages of their business cycle to enable startups to graduate to a level where they are able to raise investments from angel investors or venture capitalists or seek loans from commercial banks or financial institutions. Officials said that over 50 regulatory reforms have been undertaken by the Government since 2016 to enhance ease of doing business, ease of raising capital and reduce compliance burden for the startup ecosystem. Besides, to enable ease of procurement, Central Ministries and Departments have been directed to relax conditions of prior turnover and prior experience in public procurement for all DPIIT recognised startups subject to meeting quality and technical specifications. Further, Government e-Marketplace (GeM) Startup Runway has been developed which is a dedicated corner for startups to sell products and services directly to the Government. The Government also implements flagship annual exercises and programs including States' Startup Ranking, National Startup Awards and Innovation Week which play an important role in holistic development of the startup ecosystem. The Government also facilitates participation and engagement of the Indian startup ecosystem at international platforms. Bankers say private capex will take one more year to revive

New Delhi, Mar 3 () Equitas Small Finance Bank has received market regulator Sebi's nod for its initial public offer (IPO). The offer consists of a fresh equity worth Rs 550 crore and an offer for sale of 8 crore equity shares, according to the draft red herring prospectus. The observation letter (indicating a go-ahead to the IPO) was issued on February 28, 2020, according to an update on the regulator's website. Securities and Exchange Board of India's (Sebi) observations are necessary for any company to launch public issues such as initial public offer, follow-on public offer and rights issue. The bank proposes to utilise the net proceeds from the offer towards augmenting its Tier I capital base to meet future capital requirements, as per the prospectus. The equity shares are proposed to be listed on BSE and NSE. JM Financial, Edelweiss Financial Services and IIFL Securities are managing the offer. SUM ANSANS

And, the profits jumped by 111%. "The quarter was good for us. The transition phase is over with most of our branches converting into the banking outlets. Our focus now is on growth," Ujjivan Financial Services' managing director and CEO, Ittira Davis, told PTI. In May 2019, the bank had roped in HDFC Bank's digital banking head Nitin Chugh as its managing director and CEO. In the same month, Flipkart founder Sachin Bansal too joined the bank as an independent director. With its parent company Ujjivan Financial Services, the bank started as a microfinance company but transformed into a small finance bank in 2017. It commenced operations with five pilot branches in Bengaluru. Today, it has over 180 branches across 20 states. Yet another bank which lends <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/stock-market/news/bandhan-bank-stock-hits-upper-circuit-as-its-believed-to-enter-msci/articleshow/71536698.cms">to rural women</a>, Bandhan Bank too has taken large strides this month. The bank’s stock will be listed at MSCI index in New York, giving it access to international investors. This is a large feat for a five-year old bank, especially amidst a brewing crisis in the Indian banking sector.

Chennai, Feb 27(): Jana Small Finance Bank, formerlyJanalakshmi Financial Services, has planned to strengthenpresence in Tamil Nadu by taking the total number of branchesto 80 by March 2021.    The Bengaluru-headquartered bank currently serves over sixlakh customers in the state with an asset book size of Rs2,200 crore and deposits of over Rs 1,100 crore.    On Thursday, a new branch was opened here by DMK MPThamizhachi Thangapandian taking the total number ofbranches to 29 in the state.    "The bank's branches will reach 50 by thisfinancial year-end and 80 by March 2021," a press releasesaid.    Commenting on the expansion, the bank's zonal head-retailfinancial services Pradeep Gurumallappa said, "We are elatedto expand our footprint in Chennai".    "Jana Small Finance Bank's commitment towards financialinclusion reflects in our varied product offerings includingzero balance savings account, fixed deposits...," he said.
