Even as the Indian government has banned 138 betting apps, offshore betting and casino companies are finding new avenues to advertise their illegal wares to millions of unsuspecting Indians. These platforms continue to extensively use sports teams, personalities and industry sponsorships in <keyword id="3658" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="india" source="Orion">India</keyword>. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MEITY) banned 138 betting/gambling websites and apps under section 69(A) of the IT Act, as they "were engaging in illegal money laundering &amp; were posing threat to the financial security of our nation," In 2022, The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting had issued two advisories against advertisements of betting on digital media platforms and TV Channels. It had also warned against offshore betting platforms using news as a surrogate product and promoting betting in the garb of news. Football and Kabaddi are two sports that continue to see a lot of betting companies. Stake, an online casino, is the principal partner of the ISL teams Mumbai FC and Hyderabad FC. Parimatch is the main sponsor of the football team <keyword id="2521778" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="goa-fc" source="Orion">Goa FC</keyword>. The betting site, Dafa is a sponsor of the Kabaddi team Telugu Titans, while <keyword id="2293995" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="fairplay" source="Orion">Fairplay</keyword> is a partner of <keyword id="2455640" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="jaipur-pink-panther" source="Orion">Jaipur Pink Panther</keyword>. Bollywood star <keyword id="37518" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="nargis-fakhri" source="Orion">Nargis Fakhri</keyword> is the brand ambassador of Betway. The India Affiliate Summit, organised by IAMAI, has among its partners and sponsors, some of the biggest betting and casino companies including Parimatch and Rajabet. The Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has recently released a draft of rules for online gaming companies and invited feedback from various stakeholders. IAMAI said that the rules "are right on intention, but poor on scoping." Four of India's biggest gaming companies had in a letter to MeITY said that IAMAI did not consult them before making the statement public. Amazon Prime announces 14 new originals including Mirzapur 2 and Four More Shots Please 2

What started off as an ALS awareness drive in America is probably on the verge of becoming a worldwide phenomenon. 
 
Indian Tennis player Rohan Bopanna was the one who started this challenge in India after being nominated by former tennis player Amrit Narsimhan. After taking up the challenge, he nominated actor Rahul Bose, sports editor Digvijay Singh Deo and the entire team of Bengaluru Football club. 
 

 
While Rahul Bose decided to donate to the charity, Bengaluru FC did a group challenge and, in turn, nominated Badminton star Ashwini Ponappa, Tennis sensation Sania Mirza and the blue-eyed boy of Indian cricket Yuvraj Singh. 
 
 
 
Sania Mirza took the challenge twice, having not enough water in the bucket in the first go, and challenged fellow Tennis players Cara Black and Mahesh Bhupathi, Yuvraj Singh, her sister Anam Mirza and actor Riteish Deshmukh, thus, taking the challenge from Indian sports to Bollywood. 
 
 
 
Ashwini Ponappa completed the challenge as well and nominated fellow baddie player Jwala Gutta, swimmer Rehan Poncha and her friend and fashion designer Shravya Verma. 
 
 
 
Mahesh Bhupathi took the challenge and nominated his coach Scott Davidoff, shooter Abhinav Bindra, Abhishek Bachchan and all the members of the Kabaddi team Jaipur Pink Panthers. 
 
 
 
Riteish Deshmukh, who is in Poland shooting for his film Bangistan, produced by Excel Entertainment, went ahead to take the challenge via his <a href="https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=854831017863533&amp;set=vb.149681275045181&amp;type=2&amp;theater">Facebook account</a> and nominated his ‘good friends’ actors Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan, Pulkit Samrat, Siddharth Malhotra and Ashish Chowdhry. 
 
All of the above actors as well as Abhinav Bindra, Jaipur Pink Panthers, Jwala Gutta, Scott Davidoff, Rehan Poncha,and Yuvraj Singh are yet to take the challenge.

When Jaipur Pink Panthers won the nail-biting finale of the month-long Pro Kabaddi League, little would they have thought that along with thousands of audience they had in the stadium, millions of people would watch the live telecast in their homes. The support that the Pro Kabaddi League got from all walks of the society, be it the media, entertainment industry, advertisers and the general audience, has established the fact that Indians have finally opened up for <keyword id="6356028" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Sports">sports</keyword> other than the mainstream ones that we have been seeing for decades now. 
Now that the Pro Kabaddi League is over and the Football League coming in a few months, here is a list of 6 sports we think deserve the same recognition and probably a league of their own:

If the last weekend, you enjoyed watching the sports we all have grown up playing, you must know that <keyword id="2190307" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Pro-Kabaddi-League">Pro Kabaddi League</keyword> has begun. 
 
There are a total of eight franchises and the teams have players not only from India, but also from other parts of the world, including Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Iran, Japan, the UK, Indonesia, South Korea, Oman, Taiwan, Kenya and Turkmenistan.

Bengal Warriors, Kolkata 
This team is owned by Future Group, and is coached by Raj Narain Sharma. 
 
Bengaluru Bulls, Bengaluru 
This team is owned by Kosmik Global Media, and is coached by Randhir Singh. 
 
Dabang Delhi, Delhi 
This team is owned by Do It Sports Management, and is coached by Arjun Singh. 
 
Jaipur Pink Panthers, Jaipur 
This team is owned by Abhishek Bachchan, and is coached by Kasinathan Bhaskaran. 
 
Patna Pirates, Patna 
This team is owned by Rajesh Singh, and is coached by RS Khokhar. 
 
Puneri Paltan, Pune 
This team is owned by Insurekot Sports, and is coached by Ramphal Kaushik. 
 
Telugu Titans, Vizag 
This team is owned by Veera Sports, and is coached by J Udayakumar. 
 
U Mumba, Mumbai 
This team is owned by Unilazer Sports, and is coached by Ravi Shetty. 
 
The costliest player at the auction was Rakesh Kumar, gold medallist from the 2007 World Cup. Patna Pirates bought him for Rs 12,80,000. 
 
The winning team would be awarded the prize money of Rs 50 lakh, with Rs 25 lakh for the runner-up team and Rs 12.5 lakh for both the semi-finalists. 
 
Other than this, the best raider, defender, the best catcher will be given Rs 10,000 each in every match. 
 
Talking of big bucks, the organiser, Mashal Sports, will keep 80% of the revenue coming from all the eight franchises. World Sport Group, which is the marketing partner, will receive 10% of it and the remaining 10% will be put across for the league. 
 
One interesting trivia of this league is that every team has at least one player who is more than six feet in height. In total, there are 16 players who are taller than six feet. 
 
The schedule of the upcoming matches can be found <a href="http://prokabaddi.com/schedule/">here</a>. There will be a total of 60 matches at eight venues, out of which the semis would be held at Kanteerava Indoor Stadium in Bengaluru on August 29th.
