<li>This eclipse is the second total eclipse in a rare series of four consecutive, total lunar eclipses. This phenomenon, called a tetrad of lunar eclipses, will not occur again until the year 2032. The next two eclipses in the tetrad, will take place in April and September of next year.</li>
<li>Wednesday is also the night of the Hunter's moon, and it's not every year that a Hunter's Moon falls on the same night as a Blood Moon. The Hunter's moon is the first full moon after the famous <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/super-harvest-moon-september-2014-2014-9">Harvest moon</a>. Unlike most times of the year, there is not a long period of darkness between sunset and moon rise for the few days following the Harvest and Hunter's moons. At full moon, when the moon is close to a node, total lunar eclipses take place because the earth blocks the sun's rays from reaching the moon. Almost a year after the last total lunar eclipse, the sight of the moon sliding into the shadows of the Earth returns and graces the sky. Viewers in North America, Central America, most of South America, the Pacific Ocean, Australia, New Zealand, and Asia will see the Moon darken and acquire a reddish in the wee hours of Tuesday, November 8. When and how to watch lunar eclipse The Moon traverses the northern half of Earth's shadow, with totality predicted to last 86 minutes. Mid-eclipse happens on November 8th at 10:59 Universal Time (UT), around six days before apogee, when the Moon is farthest from Earth in its orbit. As a result, during the eclipse, the Moon will appear 7 per cent smaller than it does when it's at perigee (closest to Earth), but the difference is imperceptible. The eclipse on Tuesday will be a bit brighter than the one that occurred in May -- especially in the Moon's northern half -- since the Moon doesn't glide as close to the dark center of Earth's shadow. Watch for a slight darkening on the Moon's left side as seen from North America. The penumbral shading becomes stronger as the Moon moves deeper in. 2. The penumbra is the region where an astronaut standing on the Moon would see Earth covering only part of the Sun's face. 3. The Moon's leading edge enters the umbra, the cone of Earth's shadow within which the Sun's completely hidden. You should notice a dramatic darkening on the leading edge of the lunar disk. With a telescope, you can watch the edge of the umbra slowly engulfing one lunar feature after another, as the entire sky begins to grow darker. 4. The trailing edge of the Moon slips into the umbra for the beginning of total eclipse. But the Moon won't black out completely: It's sure to glow some shade of intense orange or red. 5. Why is this? The Earth's atmosphere scatters and bends (refracts) sunlight that skims its edges, diverting some of it onto the eclipsed Moon. If you were on the Moon during a lunar eclipse, you'd see the Sun hidden by a dark Earth rimmed with the reddish light of all the sunrises and sunsets ringing the world at that moment. 6. The red umbral glow can be quite different from one eclipse to the next. Two main factors affect its brightness and hue. The first is simply how deeply the Moon goes into the umbra as it passes through; the center of the umbra is darker than its edges. The other factor is the state of Earth's atmosphere. If a major volcanic eruption has recently polluted the stratosphere with thin global haze, a lunar eclipse can be dark red, ashen brown, or occasionally almost black. 7. In addition, blue light is refracted through Earth's clear, ozone-rich upper atmosphere above the thicker layers that produce the red sunrise-sunset colors. Today? Things are just looking so so. After being up more than 1%, Japan rose just 0.6%.
China tumbled another 1.4% last night.
Europe is in the red, with Germany's DAX index down 0.34% and the British FTSE 100 off 0.1%.
These aren't dramatic moves, but there's not showing any impressive bounceback of follow through.
US futures are basically flat.
Not helping things is news that the Ukrainian acting President says that <a href="http://online.wsj.com/news/articles/SB10001424052702303887804579502892789915218?mod=djemalertNEWS">military operations have begun in the Eastern part of the country</a> to crack down on pro-Russian rebels.
Also, money supply data out of China was weak.

Following is a transcript of the video.What if the Earth were&#xa0;<a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/neil-degrasse-tyson-flat-earth-believers-end-informed-democracy">flat</a>?Today, it's nearly impossible to believe the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/how-earth-will-look-250-million-years-map-animation-2017-9">Earth</a> is anything but <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/the-top-10-ways-to-know-the-earth-is-not-flat-2016-1">round</a>.&#xa0;But for most of our history, humans have thought Earth was flat.The one concept our ancient ancestors were missing was <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/astronaut-shows-what-happens-blow-bubbles-space-technology-science-gravity-2017-8">gravity</a>.&#xa0;Gravity's effects are the key to determining whether the Earth is actually flat, or not.On a sphere, gravity pulls in the same direction everywhere on the surface.&#xa0;But on a disc, gravity changes&#xa0;direction as you move toward the edge.At the center, you feel a downward pull just like on spherical Earth.&#xa0;But as you move out, gravity starts pulling sideways as well as a downwards.This would wreak havoc on sports played in different parts of the world.&#xa0;A ball thrown straight up in the air mid-way out, would curve down and backward toward the disc's center.&#xa0;Plus, a ball thrown mid-way out wouldn't go nearly as high or far as a ball thrown up at the edge where gravity's downward pull is practically zero.But sports are just the beginning.&#xa0;Since plant stems grow opposite to the direction of gravity, an effect called negative gravitropism,&#xa0;you'll see forests grow at an increasingly sharp angle the farther you are from the center.Continue toward the edge and you feel like you're climbing a hill that's growing steeper with each step as the backward pull of gravity takes over.&#xa0;At Earth's end, that hill will feel like a 90-degree cliff, pulling you back to the center.&#xa0;But if you could make it over the edge, and stand on the thin outer part of the disc, you'll feel downward pull just like on spherical Earth.However, living here would be like living in a desert.&#xa0;Gravity's backward effects pull on the oceans too, making it impossible for any water to reach the edge.&#xa0;Instead, sea levels will gradually rise as you travel in, making the world's center an aquatic metropolis.So, the next time you see an apple fall straight to the ground, thank your lucky stars that Earth is round.&#xa0;Because if it were flat, that apple might actually hit you in the face.<div></div>

However, it sometimes falls back down and fills the air we breathe with hazardous particles - hundreds or even thousands of miles from the fire that created it.The microscopic particles in wildfire smoke can penetrate deep into the lungs and even the bloodstream. <a href="https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6015400/">Research</a> has connected wildfire-particle pollution to an increased risk of heart attack, stroke, and premature death.In healthy people short-term, it can irritate the eyes and lungs and cause wheezing, coughs, or difficulty breathing. Young children, the elderly, and people with preexisting conditions like asthma or COPD are particularly vulnerable to more serious effects.As smoke wafts over his Minnesota home, Berman has had his two young children play inside instead of going to the park.
