Automotive start-up EVTRIC Motors has unveiled its e-delivery scooter in the low-speed category at the EV Expo 2021 that will offer a range of 110 kms on a single charge. Showcased at the event held at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi over the weekend, the scooter can clock a speed of 25 kms per hour. It features 12-inch tubeless tyres and a loading capacity of 150 kg. The company’s revenue from operations have increased at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) rate of 26.4% over FY18-FY21. CarTrade IPO ⁠— the share sale by this profitable tech startup gets a unanimous call for ‘subscribe’

Anglo-Australian mining giant <keyword id="6402887" type="COMPANY" weightage="60" keywordseo="BHP">BHP</keyword> Billiton on Tuesday raised its <keyword id="6357528" type="COMPANY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Iron-ore">iron ore</keyword> production forecast after operations in Western Australia achieved record output in July-September.
The world's biggest diversified miner said overall production for all commodities had increased 11 percent year on year in the three months to September 30.
The upbeat numbers sent BHP's share price up 2.35 percent to close at Aus$37.05.
In an operational review the firm said petroleum production for the quarter came in at a record 62.7 million barrels of oil equivalent, underscored by growth in United States volumes and the start-up of a new production well.
On iron ore, BHP lifted its production guidance for the 2014 financial year to 212 million tonnes, thanks to expanding production in Western Australia's resource-rich Pilbara region designed to meet demand from Asia.
BHP said the Western Australian Iron Ore (WAIO) business achieved record production of 54 million tonnes for the quarter.
Full year production guidance for petroleum, copper and coal was maintained.
"Our pursuit of productivity gains and operating excellence is already yielding strong results," chief executive Andrew Mackenzie said.
"There is no better example than in our iron ore business, where the deployment of mobile crushing units and the continued de-bottlenecking of the supply chain has underpinned a five million tonne increase in Western Australia iron ore's production guidance for the 2014 financial year."
BHP said it remained focussed on the four pillars of petroleum, copper, coal and iron ore -- a commodity that has been subject to volatile prices over the past 18 months due to a slowdown in activity in China.
"In addition, a 25 percent reduction in capital and exploration expenditure to US$16 billion in the 2014 financial year has significantly increased internal competition for capital," the company said.
"Our rate of expenditure will decline again next year and if our investment criteria cannot be met in any one project, product or geography, we will redirect our capital elsewhere or we will not invest."
BHP's report comes after rival Rio Tinto last week posted solid third-quarter production across its commodities, with strong growth in energy coal and copper and record output at its flagship Australian iron ore operations

In fact, scientists didn't believe it was possible for large amounts of hydrogen to accumulate underground until about 12 years ago, according to Ellis, who leads USGS efforts to map the world's potential reserves of underground hydrogen.That's when an <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/fossil-fuel-companies-spend-millions-to-promote-individual-responsibility-2021-3">oil and gas company</a> assessed a mine that had exploded in Mali and found it was full of hydrogen gas.Hydrogen forms deep underground when water reacts with iron-rich rock. In the US, two long stretches of this rock are a promising place to look for hydrogen reserves, and efforts are already underway.One stretch runs from Kansas up to Ontario, then down to Michigan. The other is offshore, running the length of New Jersey to Georgia, according to Ellis. USGS started looking for these reserves in 2021 and has drilled several wells, with more planned this year.Ellis told the Senate committee that research is also ongoing in France and Australia, and active exploration efforts are underway in Brazil and Colombia. In February, researchers announced they had discovered a <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/researchers-discover-albanian-mine-could-be-hydrogen-source-2024-3">hydrogen reservoir in a mine in Albania</a>.<div type="image" title="Bulqizë chromite mine" height="396" width="594" msid="108310180" hostid="261"></div>"Companies exploring for geologic hydrogen use many of the same technologies that are used in the oil and gas industry," Senator John Barrasso (R-WY) said in the hearing. "In fact, many of the people exploring for hydrogen today spent their careers exploring for oil and gas."It's still unclear how much hydrogen is out there, or how much it will cost to extract it. So the DOE's Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy is doling out $20 million in grants to fund research on the subject, including the possibility of artificially stimulating the natural process that makes hydrogen underground."If our programs show success, this new source of hydrogen could lower energy costs and increase our nation's energy security and supply chains," Evelyn N. Wang, director of ARPA-E, told the Senate committee.Even so, the fuel would face some of the same challenges as <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/what-is-hydrogen-fuel-industry-explainer-2020-1">manufactured hydrogen</a>. There may not be enough infrastructure to transport it far and wide. In the process, any hydrogen that leaks into the atmosphere would react with other compounds to cause the atmosphere to trap more heat. That could cancel out hydrogen's climate advantage over fossil fuels."Nobody has all the answers today," Koloma CEO and cofounder Pete Johnson told the Senate committee. "But the early data looks very promising and I believe that geologic hydrogen can play a very large role as we work to decarbonize the US energy economy."

The grey market showed a strong listing for Rolex Rings a day prior to the listing with a 40-45% premium. Moreover, the IPO ⁠— open between July 28 and July 30 ⁠— was a hit among investors. It was subscribed 130.44 times on the last day of the bidding. The IPO has received bids for 74.1 crore equity shares against the IPO size of 56.85 lakh equity shares. The Rajkot-based company is a manufacturer and global supplier of forged and machined components for automobile makers. The offer from the company consisted of a fresh issue of ₹56 crore and an offer for sale (OFS) by private equity firm Rivendell PE of up to 75 lakh equity shares. The company will use the IPO proceeds to fund its long-term working capital requirements and for general corporate purposes. Rolex Rings IPO investors make 38% at listing ⁠— the auto components maker is now worth nearly half a billion dollars

<div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image"></div></div></div><ul class="summary-list"><li>Swedish investment firm EQT Ventures employs a proprietary AI and big data tool to identify hot startups to invest in as it looks to stay ahead of the pack in Europe.</li><li>The fund's data-driven efforts have seen four of its last 10 investments come through its "Motherbrain" technology.</li><li>EQT says investors which don't become data-driven risk being left behind in the future. </li><li><a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/prime?module=article&amp;area=summary">Click here for more BI Prime stories</a>.</li></ul>Investors across all asset classes are are always looking for a cutting edge over the competition but the pace of change has been markedly slower in venture capital than in other sectors.That may be changing as the industry looks to adopt algorithmic and data-driven investing as standard, with Sweden's EQT Ventures set up deliberately for that purpose.EQT Ventures is a relatively new fund within the Stockholm-based private equity group EQT which covers traditional sectors in credit, public equities, and infrastructure. One of the firm's cofounders, EQT Ventures partner Lars Jörnow, estimates that four of the fund's last 10 investments have come through Motherbrain, its propriety AI platform.Motherbrain, <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/eqt-ventures-partner-reveals-why-ai-is-the-future-of-venture-capital-2018-8?r=US&amp;IR=T">referred to as a she with her own email address at the fund</a>, has scanned more than 10 million startups, and is an essential part of the operations of EQT as the VC firm looks to compete with larger funds."We're in a competitive situation where founders have the choice of many funds which is hard to quantify so we think long term, 15-20 years from now, if you're not data-driven you won't be around anymore," Jornow told Business Insider in an interview at Web Summit in Lisbon.The platform is built out of a variety of data sources including website traffic, app store downloads, valuation data, fundraising news, financial data, and investor information alongside other inputs from members of the EQT Ventures team.Some of the recent investments made through Motherbrain include Amazon Go competitor <a href="https://techcrunch.com/2019/07/25/standard-cognition-lands-35m-at-535m-valuation-to-battle-amazon-go/">Standard Cognition</a>, augmented reality gaming studio WarDucks, college student career network Handshake, and remote desktop company AnyDesk.<div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image"></div></div></div>The example of AnyDesk is cited by Jörnow as proof of Motherbrain's value to the fund. The company, which raised a €6.5 million ($7.8 million) Series A last May, is based in Stuttgart and seemed to have been passed over by Berlin's VC scene but its activity was picked up by Motherbrain, leading to EQT Ventures' investment.The firm's first investment through Motherbrain was Danish employee data startup Peakon in 2017.Unsurprisingly, the fund is bullish on Motherbrain's future uses. Jörnow predicts that some 90% of the firms investment decisions will come through Motherbrain in the next five years.<h3>Unicorn hunting and breaking tradition</h3>Motherbrain's applications are breaking the mold in the world of venture capital where personal connections and stereotypes of an "old boys' network" can still apply. However, EQT Venture's operating partner for analytics, Henrik Landgren says that EQT will soon do away with many traditional data sources. "We don't need to see pitch decks, even great ones, or pitches from our close friends because we already have the data on these companies."The platform would have successfully picked out a number of - undisclosed - unicorns in the market with its current configurations, EQT claimed. Landgren indicated that the fund is constantly adding sources to Motherbrain and that as much time is spent analyzing and learning from existing data sets as looking for new ones.His data team is now six people out of a total at 15 across the EQT firm which has more than $45 billion in AUM, of which its venture arm is approximately $650 million emphasising its focus on data.Not everyone is convinced by the move to big data in venture, though. Last year multiple people left <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/social-capital-founding-partner-ted-maidenberg-is-joining-arjun-sethis-new-vc-firm-2018-7?r=US&amp;IR=T">Silicon Valley fund Social Capital after it announced a move towards more data-driven decision making</a>.But the trend is becoming more common. Notably GV (formerly Google Ventures), Correlation Ventures, Fly Ventures, and of course the aforementioned Social Capital pioneered "CaaS" - capital-as-a-service, in imitation of software-as-a-service.Notably, as big data and analytics transform other market sectors it seems EQT have made this pursuit one of its central pillars across its portfolio. Earlier this year it was reported that the fund would let Motherbrain loose on its buyout fund which could significantly improve deal flow information and report making within the private equity group, <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2019-06-26/eqt-s-motherbrain-ready-to-take-on-46-billion-in-buyout-funds">per a Bloomberg report</a>.There is still plenty to iron out. "We haven't even started," Landgren added. "It's a no-brainer that you would use tech to invest in tech companies so we will improve our algorithms. Soon all funds will be talking about using data."
