Its share price has jumped by nearly 30% in April so far. While earnings estimates have been cut, the target price still has room to grow the investor wealth. Brokerage and research firm Prabhudas Lilladher has maintained its ‘Buy’ rating on IRCTC, with a target price of ₹1,428. For context, the stock closed at ₹1,267.5 yesterday, April 27. This is despite the fact that all passenger trains across India have been cancelled till May 3 when the lockdown is scheduled to end. Due to the lockdown, IRCTC has lost ticketing, catering and Rail Neer (water) revenue for <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/india/news/the-story-of-modi-coronavirus-lockdown-math-dates-back-to-a-14th-century-practice-for-quarantine/articleshow/75136864.cms">40 days, which is the total period of lockdown</a>. As a result, the broking firm has cut IRCTC’s ticketing revenue estimates by ₹50 crore. Revenue estimates for catering and Rail Neer have been cut by 18.3% and 8.8% respectively for the financial year 2020-21. So, what’s driving IRCTC’s share price? According to the report, IRCTC’s revenues are expected to increase due to four new Rail Neer plants which will be commissioned in 2020-21. In addition to this, IRCTC is also expected to hike mobile and static catering prices by 70% and 61% respectively. The impact of these factors on IRCTC’s revenues will be fully evident in FY 2020-21, the report adds. The lockdown has brought the Indian economy to a standstill, and as such, companies which have a debt exposure are finding it difficult to service their debts as cash flows have frozen. According to a <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/business/news/about-328-entities-opt-for-rbis-3-month-moratorium-icra/articleshow/75378812.cms">report</a> by investment and credit rating ICRA, 328 entities across sectors have availed RBI’s three-month debt moratorium facility. On the other hand, IRCTC which is debt-free will be able to weather this lockdown better. “IRCTC is debt free with a cash balance of ₹1,160 crore as of Dec 2019. Thus, it can tide over the current crisis without leveraging the balance sheet,” the report said. Is this a good time to invest in IRCTC? “Despite near term challenges, we believe IRCTC is best placed to bounce back once COVID fear resides as structural levers remain intact,” the research firm added. Analysts <a href="https://www.businesstoday.in/markets/company-stock/irctc-share-price-rises-coronavirus-cases-trains-cancelled/story/400699.html">suggest</a> that long-term investors should buy the stock at ₹1,050-1,100 levels. Investors expect that the economy will open up, people will travel more, as the vaccinations pick up pace and the pandemic peters out. The recovery is already visible in its earnings of the last four quarters. In its report in July 2021, broking firm Anand Rathi said the shares could worth ₹2,850 apiece in the next one year. <div type="image" title="IRCTC chart" height="900" width="1200" msid="84967721" hostid="261"></div> IRCTC is a central public sector enterprise operating in 4 segments, namely internet ticketing, catering, packaged drinking water and travel &amp; tourism. It plans to commission four new bottling plants this year and that would mean more supply to meet the demand as it revives. Recently, in e-catering, the company has partnered with private tech platforms like travel portal Ixigo and payments startup MobiKwik to name a few. “Going forward, management expects to reach the pre COVID level very soon after the resumption of Tejas Express, increase in convenience revenue to 25%, capacity expansion of Rail Neer and the impact of price hike announced in catering will play out by then,” the Anand Rathi report said. The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 23.29 points lower, whereas, the S&amp;P 500 closed 0.77% higher. These are the stocks to watch out for during the trading session today: SpiceJet Budget carrier SpiceJet on Wednesday reported a net loss of ₹112.6 crore for the quarter ended September 30. It had posted a net loss of ₹462.6 crore for the corresponding period last year. The airline’s total income stood at ₹1,305 crore in the quarter, down from ₹3,074 crore in the year-ago period. The shares of SpiceJet ended 6% higher on Wednesday. Reliance Industries The Competition Commission of India (CCI) on Wednesday said it had approved internet major Google’s proposed purchase of 7.73% stake in Jio Platforms. The transaction will facilitate Google and Jio Platforms Ltd (JPL) to develop and launch a new smartphone in the country. In July, it was announced that Google had agreed to invest ₹33,737 crore to buy a 7.7% stake in the Reliance Industries’ technology venture. The shares of Reliance Industries ended 4% lower on Wednesday. Coal India State-run Coal India Ltd on Wednesday reported a 16 per cent fall in its consolidated net profit to ₹2,951 crore in the second quarter ending September 30. The miner had posted a net profit of ₹3,523 crore in the year-ago period. Although, the company’s revenue from sales was at ₹19,484 crore during the quarter under review as against ₹18,986 crore in the year-ago period. The shares of Coal India ended 1% higher on Wednesday. Power Grid State-owned Power Grid posted an over 20% rise in consolidated net profit to ₹3,094.10 crore in the September quarter, mainly due to higher revenues. Total income during the period under review rose to ₹9,831 crore from ₹9,260.46 crore in the same period a year ago. The shares of Power Grid ended 2.14% higher on Wednesday. Apollo Hospitals Corporate hospital major Apollo Hospitals is set to acquire the remaining 50% stake in Apollo Gleneagles Hospitals held by Gleneagles Development PTE Ltd, Singapore for ₹410 billion. Consequent to this development, Apollo Gleneagles would become a 100% wholly-owned subsidiary of the city-based Apollo Hospitals. The shares of Apollo Hospitals ended 8% higher on Wednesday.
