While the highest stipend came from an FMCG company at ₹2.5 lakh. </li><li>The highest number of offers were made for sales &amp; marketing roles followed by finance, operations, analytics, and HR.</li></ul>Indian Institute of Management Udaipur concluded its summer placements offering internship opportunities to 283 management students. The average stipend of ₹85,060 for two months is a 37% increase from last year. This includes both domestic and international internships. IIM, ISB, MDI and other management graduates to intern with the Indian government to tackle Corona Crisis — but without a stipend

The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) along with the Human Resource and Development Ministry (MHRD) asked the district magistrates from over 700 districts in India to allow engineering students to intern with them. The idea is to make the youth learn the on-ground implementation of government policies. The month-long internship for June next year will enroll up to 15 students across 150 District Magistrate offices each. This includes offices in UP, Maharashtra and Haryana. However, their remuneration has not been specified yet. The sector offered the highest salary packages at an average remuneration of ₹24 lakh per annum. This includes roles like investment banking, supply chain management, advisory, analytics and corporate strategy. Other job offers came from sectors such as finance, analytics, general management, Human Resources, IT, operations, sales and marketing. The maximum number of job offers came from top multinationals like — ByteDance, Cognizant, Deloitte, JP Morgan and TATA Steel. Highest stipend at ₹3 lakh during summer placements The growing trend of summer placements and pre-placement offers too might have had an effect on the increased interest of recruiters. The graduates also secured pre-placement offers from Goldman Sachs, DE Shaw, Emami Group, Titan and more. This is a big setback for the government which is looking to skill a large section of its population. “We believe India is hugely underinvested as far as the apprenticeship programme is concerned and has to make amends because more than 40-45 years of slackness has led to the current levels of skilling in our country,” Ravi Vishwanath, CFO of TeamLease <a href="https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/markets/expert-view/hiring-should-revive-in-a-month-says-teamlease-cfo/articleshow/71390958.cms">told </a>ET. The job crisis in the country will also show a reverse trend, according to Vishwanath. But manufacturing and services space are going against the basic trend, as over 40% of them are keen to hire apprentices. “The visible shift is in the intake of apprentices due to increase in growth rate of the services sector. So far, it was the manufacturing sector that was taking apprentices. But now there is an active participation by the services sector as well,” <a href="https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/jobs/india-inc-bullish-on-apprentice-hiring-study/articleshow/71733379.cms?from=mdr">said</a> Sumit Kumar, VP (NETAP) at TeamLease Skill University. In fact, when it comes to trade apprentices, employers prefer to hire highschoolers as compared to graduates. The western region is most likely to show a positive hiring sentiment in terms of apprenticeship, followed by north. “Most employers engage apprentices with the purpose of meeting the skill requirements of the company, to boost productivity and to reduce costs. The prevailing economic slowdown has taken a toll on all major industries, and companies are hesitant to hire apprentices that will in turn be a burden on their current financial situation,” Kumar added. The study surveyed nearly 500 employers across 12 sectors. Companies hire apprentices — who are fresh graduates hired as trainees for a stipulated time. These apprentices are given a stipend of nearly ₹12,000 per month. Three in five companies in India are not planning to hire apprentices, survey says

IIM Ahmedabad With 18 offers, e-commerce major Amazon has been the biggest hirer during the summer placements of the Indian Institute of Management-Ahmedabad (IIM-A). Amazon made the maximum 18 offers, followed by McKinsey &amp; Company with 15 in the consulting domain and Goldman Sachs with nine among the banks.In the general management cohort, Tata Administrative Services was the largest recruiter with 10 offers. In the consumer tech area, Sprinklr made nine offers. Good offers also came in for sales and marketing, with Hindustan Unilever making seven and Procter &amp; Gamble, SC Johnson and <keyword id="10591" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Samsung">Samsung</keyword> making six offers each. Prominent recruiters in the investment banking and markets space included Citibank, Credit Suisse, JP Morgan, Kotak IB and Standard Chartered. Banking, financial services and insurance hirers included American Express, FinIQ, Fullerton and RBL. Accenture Strategy, AT Kearney, Bain &amp; Co, Oliver Wyman and the Boston Consulting Group represented the management and niche consulting domain. 
 
IIM Nagpur 
The highest stipend offer that was bagged by a student of the Post Graduate Programme (PGP) batch was of Rs. 1.6 lakh for a duration of two months.Vijay Phate, in-charge of placement office, said, "This year, the highest and the average stipend offered saw a significant jump. The highest stipend offered was Rs1.6 lakh, and the average stipend of the batch also increased by 24% to Rs56,900." This year more than 40 recruiters from across sectors have found IIM-N students suitable for the summer internship positions, the premier institute said in a press statement. IIM-N has seen a significant increase in number of first-time recruiters, even for the second batch of PGP students, it added. 
 
IIM Amritsar 
With Ernst &amp; Young as the top recruiter, IIM Amritsar witnessed 100 per cent placement for its largest ever batch. Ernst and Young was the top recruiter followed by ICICI Lombard, Maruti Suzuki, Shopclues, Toyota, SBI, EXIM Bank, Adani, DHFL Pramerica, PayU, IFFCO, Tega, RBI, Canara Bank and Choco-Swiss. A total of 51 companies had participated in the IIM Amritsar summer placement. While the highest stipend offered is INR 1.1 lakh, the average stipend offered is INR 49780 thus marking an increase in 49.64% in the average stipend on a year-over-year basis. 
 
IIM Shillong 
The season witnessed a highest stipend of INR 2,50,000 and an average total stipend of INR 81,000, a significant jump of 17% from the previous year. A total of 184 roles were offered across various functional domains. Sales &amp; Marketing emerged as the most sought-after domain with 36% of the total offers made to the candidates. Prominent recruiters such as Mahindra GMC, Aditya Birla Group, <keyword id="6355629" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Google">Google</keyword>, Dabur, <keyword id="6358584" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="HSBC">HSBC</keyword>, Perfetti Van Melle, ICICI Bank, Amazon, <keyword id="28721" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Cognizant">Cognizant</keyword> Business Consulting, Titan, GSK Pharmaceuticals, TATA Steel, Fidelity Management Research and Wipro continued to show faith in the caliber of the students. The Institute also played host to an array of new and eminent recruiters this year including ITC, <keyword id="6358918" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Deloitte">Deloitte</keyword> S&amp;O, Kohler, Beiersdorf (Nivea), Yes Bank, Piramal Enterprises, Cummins, VMware, Aviva Life Insurance, Lava, and Metlife. Deloitte emerged as the largest recruiter in Consulting domain offering the highly coveted Strategy and Operations profile. HSBC made the maximum offers in the Finance domain while ITC, Tata Motors and Tata Steel made the highest number of offers in Sales &amp; Marketing domain. Apart from the increasing number of offers made in FMCG, Manufacturing &amp; Retail sectors, the season also saw participation of unconventional sectors such as Healthcare and Social Sector offering Strategy and Development roles. 
 
IIM Udaipur 
Of the 181 students in the batch, 157 sought placements through the Institute while 8 students opted for the summer entrepreneurship programme offered by IIMU. A total of 46 firms made offers for summer internships, an increase of 9.5% over the previous year. While regular recruiters like General Electric, RBL Bank, Amul, Xpress Money, NMC Healthcare, Snapdeal and ICICI Bank among others continued to show their faith in the potential of the students at IIMU, eighteen new firms joined the recruiters’ list. The average stipend offered stands at INR 52,653 while the highest stipend offered jumped to INR 1,60,000, a 10% rise over the previous year. The average stipend offered to the top 10 percentile increased by 5.3% over the previous year to INR 1,30,497. The average stipend offered to top 25 percentile students stands at INR 1,06,100 and for the top 50 percentile it is INR 81,366. All figures are for the entire duration of the internship. This year also witnessed a 100% increase in the number of international placements with 14 students bagging offers outside India. The average stipend for the international placements is INR 1,08,425 for the two months excluding benefits such as accommodation, travel, and flight-tickets. 
 
IIM Trichy 
The average stipend offered for the internship period was Rs. 53,030 and the highest domestic offer was Rs. 2.50 lakhs. Roles were offered across various domains like Sales &amp; Marketing, Finance, General Management, Consulting, Strategy, Operations &amp; HR. Some of the major recruiters taking part in the process were Microsoft, Dabur, World Bank, Mahindra, Accenture, Cognizant, Deloitte, Yes Bank, etc. There was an even distribution in the companies visiting from various sectors like BFSI, Consulting, Manufacturing, IT &amp; Services, FMCG, Retail, E-commerce, Supply Chain &amp; Infrastructure. The average of the top 10% offers for the domains like Sales &amp; Marketing, General Management &amp; Finance witnessed a growth in the range of 20-25% compared to the previous year. The median stipend offered to the top 10 percentile of the batch was Rs. 1.31 lakhs and that offered to the top 25 percentile of the batch was Rs. 1 lakh.

Top summer placement offers at IIMs across the country

Among the 181 students in the batch, 157 sought placements through the institute and eight opted for the summer entrepreneurship programme offered by IIMU. 
 
The number of companies rose drastically by 9.6% over the previous year as a total of 46 companies made offers for summer internships. 
 Regular recruiters included <keyword id="114046" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="General-Electric">General Electric</keyword>, RBL Bank, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Amul&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Amul</a>, Xpress Money, NMC Healthcare, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Snapdeal&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Snapdeal</a> and <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=ICICI+Bank&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">ICICI Bank</a> while 18 new companies joined the list. The average stipend offered stands at Rs 52,653 while the highest stipend offered jumped to Rs 1,60,000, a 10% rise over the previous year. 
 
Offers were made in various other domains like business analytics (11), operations (11), human resource management (7) and information technology (12).

In India, we have engineers and MBAs in abundance. All thanks to numerous institutes in the country that students get the chance to pursue these professional courses at. 
 
However, all institutes don’t have great placement rates. Students of top institutes prove to be the luckiest. Take for instance the case of MDI, IIFT and other top <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=B-schools">B-schools</a>. This year, their students got placed in the first two days of the summer placement session; companies which came in later had to return bare-handed. 
 Kanwal Kapil, Associate Professor &amp; Chairperson- Placements at <keyword id="481185" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Management-Development-Institute">Management Development Institute</keyword> (MDI), Gurgaon shares, "Companies have been so upbeat on hiring that this was waiting to happen. By noon on the third day, all our students had been placed. For the human resource programme, it was over on the first day itself. We had to send back the companies slotted over the next couple of days.” 
 
Not just at MDI, but other leading business institutes including Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Kozhikode, XLRI Jamshedpur and the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) in Delhi were confident about business prospects. 
 
The sectors taking the lead so far were: investment banks,<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=+eCommerce+companies"> eCommerce companies</a> and consumer goods makers, who look forward to an augmentation as India retains its place of world’s fastest growing economy. 
 
This year placements were completed in a record time of 3-7 days. 
 "Most companies across sectors have hiked stipends," shared Rajul Mangal, placement committee member at IIM-Kozhikode. The percentage increase is observed somewhere between 20-50%. <keyword id="63460" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="JP-Morgan">JP Morgan</keyword> Chase is paying Rs 5 lakh at XLRI Jamshedpur for a two-month internship. 
 Boston Consulting Group and Reckitt Benckiser are paying Rs 3 lakh each at IIM-Kozhikode and MDI Gurgaon. <keyword id="48670" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Morgan-Stanley">Morgan Stanley</keyword> is paying Rs 4 lakh at Faculty of Management Studies (FMS) Delhi while at IIFT, average stipends are up by 30% from last year. 
 Sources informed that <keyword id="6361649" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Goldman-Sachs">Goldman Sachs</keyword> and American Express have also increased stipends to Rs 2 lakh from Rs 1.5 lakh for two months. Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages has raised it to Rs 1.5 lakh from Rs 75,000 and Tata Steel to Rs 1 lakh from Rs 50,000. 
 
L'Oreal is paying Rs 1.6 lakh, up from Rs 1.2 lakh, and Arvind Lifestyle is paying Rs 1 lakh versus Rs 70,000 last year. 
 The number of offers too have increased as Microsoft, RPG, American Express, JP Morgan Chase and <keyword id="6357341" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Deutsche-Bank">Deutsche Bank</keyword> have all made 60-100% more offers at IIM-Kozhikode than previous year. 
 
With the highest recruit ever, Accenture Strategy hired 12 interns at FMS Delhi. 
 New recruiters on campuses included the Bill and <keyword id="131379" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Melinda-Gates">Melinda Gates</keyword> Foundation, Shell, Ola Cabs and Quikr at XLRI; <keyword id="270433" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Anheuser-Busch-InBev">Anheuser-Busch InBev</keyword> and Dr Reddy's at FMS Delhi; Edelweiss and Glenmark Pharma at MDI; and Marico and GSK Consumer at IIFT. 
 Surprisingly, IIFT got 12 international offers for internships this year, up from eight last year. International recruiters included the World Trade Organisation (WTO) and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (<keyword id="6356984" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="OECD">OECD</keyword>).
