<ul><li><keyword id="830092" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Zomato">Zomato</keyword> has launched a video section on its platform, which will have 18 original shows. </li><li>Starting Monday, the platform is going to offer viewers and foodies original shows, recipes and more with over 2,000 videos.</li><li>This makes the <keyword id="2955508" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="food-aggregator">food aggregator</keyword> unicorn the latest one to join the Indian OTT race. </li></ul>Zomato knows you order food from the app while binge-watching stuff on Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hotstar etc. But the food aggregator doesn’t want you to leave its app. So it has launched its own video platform and original shows. Through the video section on the Zomato app, the platform is going to offer original shows, recipes, and more with over 2,000 videos. It's launching 18 original shows, each of which will have episodes ranging between 3 to 15 minutes. The shows have been shot on a vertical frame making way for mobile-easy viewing. These videos will range between comedy, reality, fiction, advice, celebrity interviews and will explore food in unique, engaging and entertaining videos, Zomato said in a statement. The released trailer shows content from star Chef Sanjeev Kapoor, comedians like Sumukhi Suresh and Sahil Shah and a cooking show with Bollywood stars which will be hosted by Janice Sequiera. The Indian OTT space has been buzzing with new entrants and mergers. Recently, e-commerce giant Flipkart announced its entry into the video content war, which in India is currently led by the likes of Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and Hotstar. Smaller players like AltBalaji and Zee5 had announced a partnership to produce content together. Meanwhile, Zomato’s entry into the video space comes at a time when its food vertical has been in the eye of multiple controversies thanks to its discounting features like Zomato Gold and Infinity Dining.The National Restaurant Association of India (NRAI) launched a ‘logout’ movement last week claiming that the business practices of aggregators are unethical. Now, Zomato has put a ‘pause’ on its infinity dining feature.

The balance went to capital and the owners of the capital, according to a study between 2011 to 2017 conducted by India Ratings and Research. This confirms the rising inequality in India, as the fortune of <keyword id="390386" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-billionaires">Indian billionaires</keyword> went up by ₹22 billion a day in 2018. As a result, the top 1% got richer by 39%, according to <a href="https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/business/india-business/indias-richest-1-get-richer-by-39-in-2018-just-3-rise-for-bottom-half-oxfam/articleshow/67618069.cms">an Oxfam study</a>.

Farm hands work towards poverty The worst affected of this income gulf are the over 144 million people working on farms. As per the report, the divide is even worse in agriculture as its labour received 15.3% of the total income, while a staggering 84.7% went to owners! Agriculture is one of the largest employers in the country. The annual average wage of an agricultural worker is ₹21,060 per annum “This is even lower than the official poverty line. Cultivators are relatively better-off than agricultural labourers, with an average annual income of ₹141,500,” India Ratings said. Not helping The Help Also, it isn’t just landowners and corporations who are taking income away from workers. Households too are contributing to this. Household maids and other help are amongst the worst affected as they recorded the slowest wage growth. And, their salaries are low to start with. Homes and other unorganised workers are worse paid, and due to their large numbers affect the widening income gap. “The plight of wage earners in unorganized and unregistered enterprises, who account for 44.5% of the income in the economy but receive only 26.4% of the total wages, is quite similar to that of agricultural wage earners,” the report said. Private sector wage growth was the fastest as it grew 16% in the five financial years ending March 2017. But private sector corporations are also keeping the wealth amidst the owners, as only 31.2% of its income went in wages. Interestingly, this exact percentage at 32% is what public sector kept for owners, while giving 68% to its employees ---proving to be better distributors of their wealth!

And, last March, the company recalled a batch of dry dog food <a href="http://www.seattletimes.com/life/pets/blue-buffalo-recalls-batch-of-dog-food/">due to mold concerns. </a>However, it's unlikely that Blue Buffalo will be found legally liable for the mold. Pet owners are instructed to store dog food in a air-tight container, not the bag, to avoid mold. Further, it's possible that the grocery or pet store improperly stored the bag, meaning that the retailer, not Blue Buffalo, would be at fault. Typically, when pet owners accuse dog food companies of poisoning their dogs with mold, it needs to be taken with a grain of salt. Often, owners are quick to blame dog food on any pet's illness, simply because pet food is the one constant in their dogs' lives.
