This comes amidst growing tensions in the Middle East, after attacks on oil tankers. Two tankers were attacked in the Gulf of Oman last week and four tankers in international waters close to United Arab Emirates (UAE), on May 12, <a href="http://defencenews.in/article/Indian-Navy-executes-Operation-Sankalp-for-Gulf-region-amid-rising-US,-Iran-tension-585379">as per sources</a>. US President Donald Trump had accused Iran for the attacks and threatened it of consequences. Recently, a US drone was also shot down in the region and Iran’s Revolutionary Guards claimed responsibility, <a href="https://edition.cnn.com/2019/06/20/middleeast/iran-drone-claim-hnk-intl/index.html">as per sources</a>. Security Operations The Indian Navy has deployed a destroyer INS Chennai, and a patrol vessel INS Sunanya in the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman.
