<ul><li>Any lead that Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) had gained over Infosys has nearly been erased.</li><li>Infosys outperformed TCS in Q2 2020 and it looking to boost the growing revenue from its digital services.</li><li>TCS' digital business, on the other hand, is slowing down.</li></ul>Infosys performed considerably better than Tata Consultancy Services (<a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/business/news/tcs-q2-earning-report-profit-at-8042-crore/articleshow/71521639.cms">TCS</a>) during the second quarter of the current financial year. The Indian MNC has even raised its full-year guidance to 9% to 10%. Valuation premium that TCS had gained over Infosys through the early part of 2019 has been nearly been erased, according to Nirmal Bang Institutional Equities. Infosys expects bottom line growth from its digital sector where it feels it will be able to capture a higher premium from its clients. "Digital pricing is a new area we are looking at — how we price digital service and command a premium from our clients," said CFO of Infosys, Nilanjan Roy, during the earnings call. "Our digital margins are higher than our core business, that's something we already know. I think the way we repurpose our digital talent and looking at the scarcity, we think there's an opportunity of how to price this scarce talent — depending on skills, experience, what sort of clients they work with," he added. TCS' digital business, on the other hand, has slowed down from being on track to cross 40% last quarter to a mere 28% at the end of September 2019. "We downgrade TCS to neutral and strike it off our list of conviction picks following 4% EPS (earnings per share) cut and a weak growth trajectory," according to analysts at HDFC Securities Institutional Research. Infosys ropes in tennis icon Rafael Nadal as brand ambassador

New Delhi, Feb 18 () Infosys on Tuesday said it has entered into a long-term strategic partnership with GE Appliance, a Haier company, to streamline the latter's IT operations. As an IT services partner, Infosys will help GE Appliances modernise its IT infrastructure and run IT in managed services mode as part of the overall innovation and optimisation agenda, a statement said. As part of this alliance, Infosys will assist GE Appliances to accelerate their digital and workplace transformation through automation-driven managed IT services support across global command centres, service desks, end-user computing, IT infrastructure, and applications, it added. "We believe that with our expertise in executing large transformation programs, we will co-innovate with GE Appliances to deliver great customer experiences," Infosys Executive Vice President and Global Head of Manufacturing Jasmeet Singh said. Infosys inks deal with GE Appliances

Infosys CEO Salil Parekh joins USISPF Board

Attrition rate of IT companies has been rising consistently and in-line with growing demand for digital talent. With the earnings results available so far for the September quarter, Wipro has the highest attrition rate, among IT firms, at 20.5% followed by Infosys at 20.1% and <keyword id="6357585" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="tata-consultancy-services" source="Orion">Tata Consultancy Services</keyword> (TCS) at 11.9%. <div type="image" title="attrition chart" height="900" width="1200" msid="87013677" hostid="261"></div> However, a report by human resource solutions firm TeamLease shows that the average attrition rate in the IT industry was at 8.67% in September quarter, far less than what the big IT firms have reported. One of the key concerns of IT employees for leaving an organisation is muted growth in increments followed by poor employee benefits, rewards, digital skilling and so on, shows a ‘compensation benchmarking survey’ by Deloitte India and software firms’ lobby NASSCOM. The average increments for the technology services sector in India dropped from 9.5% in 2019 to 5.2% in 2020, which later increased to 8.8% in 2021 due to higher attrition rate. With more employees working from and the depreciation of the rupee — which helps IT companies since they operate abroad and most of the billings are in dollars — Infosys was also able to expand its operating margins by 1.6%. The margin expansion could have been larger but the company increased the variable pay of its employees, which cost it around 110 basis points of benefits. “We see a strong pipeline across our verticals, of course, financial services being the largest,” said Infosys’ chief financial offer Ninaljan Roy during the earnings call. Verticals with the most amounts of interest are cloud, workplace transformation, digital transformation, automation and cost-efficiency. “We are also seeing demand in the area of consolidation,” said CEO Salil Parekh. Chief operating officer, Pravin Roy, added that when it comes to retail, aside from groceries, all other segments — from apparel to logistics — are seeing contraction and supply chain disruptions. “One on their key focus is on variating their costs. They’re also looking at continued investment,” he said. New Delhi, Feb 10 () IT major Infosys said on Monday that it will acquire Simplus, one of the fastest growing Salesforce Platinum Partners in the US and Australia, in an up to USD 250 million deal. According to a regulatory filing, the cost of acquisition is "USD 200 million including contingent consideration to be paid for the acquisition of shares subject to closing adjustments".In addition, there are employee incentives and retention payments amounting up to USD 50 million on meeting certain performance conditions over three years, it added.Simplus is majority-owned by the institutional investors, founders and key employees, with Salesforce Ventures having a minority stake. Its revenue stood at USD 67.1 million for the fiscal year ending January 31, 2020."This acquisition, coupled with the acquisition of Fluido announced in September 2018, further elevates Infosys' position as an end-to-end Salesforce enterprise cloud solutions and services provider, offering clients unparalleled capabilities for cloud-first digital transformation," Infosys said in a statement.The acquisition will bring to Infosys the globally recognised Salesforce expertise, industry knowledge, solution assets, deep ecosystem relationships and a broad clientele across industries including high-tech, financial services, retail, healthcare, life sciences and manufacturing, it added. Neither are they unable to give double digit salary hikes, nor are they able to lure them in with<a href="https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/nri/visa-and-immigration/h-1b-extension-rejections-rob-indian-it-firms-of-visa-power/articleshow/68312136.cms"> overseas opportunities</a>--thanks to record high visa rejections. During these difficult times, the country’s second largest IT company, Infosys might just have another plan up its sleeve. It recently gave away 50 million shares as employee stock options (eSOPs), accounting to 1.15% of its total shares, to a large base of employees. “In the last 2-3 years salary hikes have not been very good. Added to that, the number of overseas opportunities have also been lower because of fewer H1B visa approvals. So a large stock option plan across a large share of employees is a good plan,” commented Mohandas Pai, the former CFO and HR head of the company, who is now a startup investor. This year, Infosys gave 6% salary hike to 85%<a href="https://www.business-standard.com/article/companies/infosys-to-roll-out-6-annual-hike-for-india-staff-1-5-for-onsite-workers-119041201335_1.html"> of its employees</a>. Its peer, Tata Consulting Services (TCS) did no better with 2-6% hike for the same year. Infosys has a high rate of attrition at a little over 20%, and Pai believes that the company has been losing their employees to large MNCs. As newer technologies are being adopted by companies and clients, it is imperative for IT majors to retain their digital talent. Yet, few have been able to provide good salary hikes. Better performance As per the carefully crafted stock options, Infosys employees won’t have to wait too long to get their hands on the moolah, if the company does well. Unlike most employee stock options which specify a vesting date, a date at which they can be traded and sold—this is performance linked. “It is a reflection of how important performance is in an environment of strong demand. Performance based eSOPs essentially help employees grow with the company. It also helps the company align costs with revenue,” says Harit Shah, IT analyst at Reliance Securities. If challenging performance criteria like total shareholder return against industry peers, increase in total revenue, digital revenue growth and operating margins are achieved, these stock options can be vested! This way Infosys won’t have to pay upfront wage hikes, explains Shah, and wait to reap benefits later on. As employees help shareholders build value, they can vest their shares at a time when their company is in the best of shape, bringing the double bonanza that IT professionals have been waiting for a long time.
