In yet another sensational story of another Indian founder taking his startup for a joyride, Broker Network (operated by 4B <keyword id="50752" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="networks" source="Orion">Networks</keyword>) founder <keyword id="536283" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="rahul-yadav" source="Orion">Rahul Yadav</keyword> reportedly maintained a luxurious lifestyle such as owning a Mercedes-Maybach and hired a boardroom at the Taj Land's End for Rs 80,000 per day, as employees were left unpaid for months. According to a report in leading startup news portal Inc42, Broker Network burnt over Rs 280 crore in less than 18 months, while over 150 employees have not been paid since November last year. "Yadav turned to his long-time employees to borrow personal loans to pay employee salaries. One such top-level employee lent close to Rs 50 lakh to Yadav. He has filed a criminal complaint against Yadav," the report noted, citing sources. Other employees were also asked to take "advance salary" loans and transfer the amount to Yadav. Employees alleged that all through this, Yadav maintained a luxurious lifestyle. "Yadav told us luxuries such as his Maybach came from his earnings at Anarock," and he was "also looking to buy a Bentley," one employee was quoted as saying. Yadav, who foundedAHousing.com has denied all allegations related to any wrongdoing at the company, according to the report. Allcheckdeals India Private Limited (AIPL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of <keyword id="80004" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="info-edge" source="Orion">Info Edge</keyword>, invested Rs 276 crore in Yadav's 4B Networks and provided debt financing of Rs 12 crore. Now, Info Edge has initiated a forensic audit into the prop-tech startup in which it holds a stake, as Yadav "repeatedly failed to provide the information". Founded in 2020 by Yadav, 4B Networks last raised Rs 90 crore in September 2022 at a valuation of $185 million. AIPL sought information, including details and particulars of financial transactions, transactions with related parties and such other aspects, from 4B Networks and its current management. "However, 4B Networks has repeatedly failed to provide AIPL with such information and has also not responded to the information requests by the company on several occasions," according to an exchange filing by <keyword id="3378431" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="indo-edge" source="Orion">Indo Edge</keyword>. "AIPL has exercised its contractual rights under the shareholders' agreement and articles of association of 4B Networks and pursuant to the same, is initiating a forensic audit into the affairs of the investee company," the filing further read. Another <keyword id="1464841" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="edtech" source="Orion">edtech</keyword> startup <keyword id="4248184" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="udayy" source="Orion">Udayy</keyword>, backed by <keyword id="80004" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="info-edge" source="Orion">Info Edge</keyword>, has shut shop, laying off all 100 employees as schools, colleges and physical tuition centres reopen. Udayy's co-founder <keyword id="6553566" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="saumya-yadav" source="Orion">Saumya Yadav</keyword> said that the startup was witnessing the post-pandemic world for the first time as "as the kids went back to school, we faced roadblocks in growing the original model of online, live learning". "After a lot of deliberation, we decided that it's better to shut down the business than to spend more time and capital on it,a Yadav said. The development was first reported by startup news coverage portal Entrackr. The startup has paid employees severance packages and helped them find new jobs. "We are returning the remaining capital, around $8.5 million back to our investors," Yadav was quoted as saying in media reports. The live-learning platform catered to students from Grades 1 to 5. The platform raised $2.5 million in a seed funding round led by Alpha Wave Incubation (AWI), managed by <keyword id="4675626" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="falcon-edge-capital" source="Orion">Falcon Edge Capital</keyword> and <keyword id="12772224" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="infoedge-ventures" source="Orion">InfoEdge Ventures</keyword>. Udayy is the second edtech startup after Lido Learning to completely shut operations. Led by the edtech platforms, over 8,000 start-up employees have been recently hit by layoffs In India. Another edtech firm FrontRow laid off nearly 150 full-time and contractual employees earlier this week. The Bengaluru-based non-academic upskilling startup fired almost 30 per cent of its workforce, owing to fund crunch and the market downturn. Info Edge has lost over $1.2 billion on its investment in Zomato, PolicyBazaar

<keyword id="80004" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Info-Edge">Info Edge</keyword> (India) Ltd on Monday said it will invest about Rs 37.10 crore in <keyword id="8760722" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="sunrise-mentors">Sunrise Mentors</keyword> Pvt Ltd that operates e-learning platform Coding Ninjas. "The company has agreed to acquire shares for an aggregate amount of about Rs 37.10 crore (for a cash consideration) via a mix of primary and secondary purchase of shares," Info Edge said in a regulatory filing. The firm's aggregate shareholding, post this investment, in Sunrise would be 25 per cent on a fully converted and diluted basis, it added. Info Edge to invest ₹37 crore in e-learning platform Sunrise Mentors

The much anticipated initial public offering (IPO) of online food delivery company <keyword id="830092" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Zomato">Zomato</keyword> opened on Wednesday at Rs 72-76 per share offer and was fully received by the retail investors. The retail segment of the offering has been fully subscribed in just over an hour. So far, the IPO has been subscribed around 20 percent on the first day of bidding. On Tuesday, the company said that it has raised Rs 4,196 crore from several prominent institutional investors as part of an anchor book allocation. It has allocated 55.2 crore equity shares, to anchor investors, at a price of Rs 76 per share. Government of Singapore, <keyword id="158169" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="BlackRock">BlackRock</keyword>, <keyword id="6361649" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Goldman-Sachs">Goldman Sachs</keyword>, <keyword id="126284" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Abu-Dhabi-Investment-Authority">Abu Dhabi Investment Authority</keyword> among others were the participants in the anchor book. "Strong participation by institutions in the anchor book bodes well for the IPO and we expect continued strong demand for the IPO from both institutional and retail investors alike. Given strong delivery network, high barriers to entry, expected turnaround and significant growth opportunities in tier-II and tier-III cities, we believe that Zomato will command a premium to global peers and hence have a 'SUBSCRIBE' recommendation on the IPO," Roy said. Zomato IPO gets subscribed 20% on first day of bidding

Gurugram-based offline-to-online commerce platform <keyword id="8103952" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="DotPe">DotPe</keyword> on Friday said it has secured $27.5 million (around ₹200 crore) in Series A funding as Google joined <keyword id="1493568" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="PayU">PayU</keyword> and <keyword id="80004" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Info-Edge">Info Edge</keyword> Ventures as investors. The round was led by its early investor, PayU, the payments and <keyword id="2461546" type="DOMAIN" weightage="20" keywordseo="FinTech">fintech</keyword> business of Prosus, resulting in an increase in the existing stake in the company. Info Edge Ventures has doubled down on its seed investment in the company made last year and more than doubled its shareholding, while Google joined as a new investor. The fresh funding brings DotPe's total funding to $35.5 million. The company said that on the enterprise side, it has integration with over 10,000 restaurants and food courts, including leading global and domestic food and beverage brands. <ul><li>Info Edge, one of the biggest promoters of <keyword id="830092" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Zomato">Zomato</keyword>, sold 3.32% stake in Zomato via initial public offering (IPO) and currently holds 15.23%.</li><li>Info Edge had sold shares worth ₹ 375 crore in an offer for sale which has multiplied into ₹15,000 crore after listing. </li><li>This is because Zomato made a strong listing on exchanges today with a 51% premium and the market capitalisation soared to nearly ₹98,000 crore soon after.</li></ul>The market value of Info Edge’s stake in the newly-listed internet company Zomato has surged to a little less than ₹15,000 crore, which is about a quarter of its own market capitalisation.
